The only soundtrack is GERMAN
This is a movie I like a lot, but I am giving this version only 2 stars as a warning to other customers.Look closely at the details of the movie, under Language it only mentions German.Other Region 2 movies I have purchased that are American movies have always included an English soundtrack, but not this one.You can only watch the movie with German voices dubbed over the regular voices.It doesn't even have English subtitles.I still gave it 2 stars because you don't have to speak German to enjoy the exciting Rollerblade race at the end of the movie.

you can find the dvd of this movie at amazon.de but i dont know german and you would have to have an all region dvd player or use a computer to play it on.i have bought rocketman on dvd(another dvd not released in usa) from amazon.uk before and they shipped it overseas to me no problem.must learn german.jack black at his finest.

Airborne--Fantastic Movie
This movie was fantastic.It features a young Oz from Buffy and really brings back childhood memories of the Midwest.I wish it would come out in DVD.I am surprised that Shane McDermott is a real estate agent for Bay Reef Century 21 in Galvaston Texas.I truly thought he would make it as an actor.Anyway the movie is great and is a good one to watch whether young or old. ... Trippy 60s Cartoon in Vivid Color

I bought a DVD player because of this release...
I am really sorry that this version of Yellow Submarine has gone out of print.When it came out in 1999, I had not yet purchased a DVD player, but I did immediately buy the VHS version.It was so wonderful, SO wonderful, and I read so many great reviews about the DVD, that I went out and bought the DVD, before I had a DVD player.Then not only did I buy a DVD player but also a new Kenwood receiver so I could get all the benefits of the surround sound.That's how crazy I was.The really crazy thing is, it was worth every penny.Plus it spoiled me.I expected every DVD release to show the same care and quality that Yellow Submarine did.The care that they lavished upon all aspects of this release, the video quality, the INCREDIBLE AUDIO QUALITY and the wonderful extras, are amplified by the horrible job that Miramax did on A Hard Day's Night.It's a shame that Apple could not was not able to get control of that.What a disgrace Miramax made of a classic.Makes me wonder what is happening with HELP!, Magical Mystery Tour and Let It Be.I pray daily that Miramax isn't able to get their grubby little hands on anymore Beatle product.

A Man Follows His Star
This is one of the finest 60's westerns dealing with man's struggle for independence, overshadowed by "Hud," though far more entertaining a film. An incredible lineup, a cast of stars and future stars if you watch closely:Bill Bixby(helo pilot), Walter Matthau, George Kennedy, Gena Rowlands and Bill Rausch. A year later you would know Rausch as the one-armed man Dr. Richard Kimble chased for 4 seasons on "The Fugitive." Adapted from,"Brave Cowboy," a simple story about a drifter-cowboy who didn't like fences, this is more fleshed out, with Kirk Douglas trying totalk sense into his friend, by breaking in jail with him, a plausible sub-plot to explain his visit. Douglas has some touching scenes with Gena Rowlands where, at times, he struggles with his conscience and allegiance to his friend. Nevertheless, Douglas escapes and the entire locals pursue. Douglas and his valiant horse outwit all armed forces aganst him as he ascends the mountains to freedom, leading to a terrifying, heart-wrenching climax on a rain-swept highway. The on-lccation scenes are sparingly shot, symbolically at times, never slowing the suspense. There are poetic moments and moments of stark violence, handled with deft assurance. One of those black and white movies that explores the grays as well, you sit in your seat it a daze. Then in a few moments you realize you were experiencing screen "realism." You just want to jump into the screen and run off with Douglas. A rarity. The classic.

A great story and a great film
One of Kirk Douglas' best roles, and a moving film in all respects, well-acted by the superb cast. Contrasts the remnants of the "old west" personified by Douglas, with the "new" west of social activism, progress and consumer products, property--and most symbolically, highways that cut up and limit the open range. When the Old resists the New, the New must deal with the Old on its own terms: humor and respect, but ultimately tragedy, are the results. This movie deserves to be released on DVD as soon as possible!

An Underappreciated Minor Classic
This semi-forgotten 1962 film is a small, lost treasure featuring Kirk Douglas as a cowboy who can't quite come to terms with the modern world. The excellent cast includes Gena Rowlands as the wife of Douglas' best friend, a woman who has little use for the old-world notions of either man; Walter Matthau in an underrated portrayal of a sheriff torn between his admiration for Douglas and his duty to track him down; and Carroll O'Connor in his pre-Archie Bunker days as a truck driver whose path unexpectedly crosses with that of the fugitive cowboy. The film has some quaint morals and notions, and George Kennedy is a bit one-dimensional as a thuggish cop, but these are quibbles. Overall, it's a tightly told and well acted story that neatly crossed genres, featured one of Douglas' most charismatic leading performances, and tackled the theme of old Western individualism vs. the System a good seven years before "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" plowed similar ground. Keep an eye out for it on DVD, because its beautiful black-and-white vistas deserve a new digital rendering. ... Read more

Most Memorable Films
I gave this film 5 stars and perhaps I did over-rate it. But not by that much if one takes into consideration how much staying-power a film can have. This poignant drama of war and love still resonates with me years later as one of the finest Vietnam era films ever made. As others have noted, this movie is long...long overdue to be put out on a dvd. Com'on Hollywood...Get on the stick!

Relevant Even Today
While this pic is set during the VietNam war, it is still very relevant today with what is going on in the world. I feel it is an accurate depiction of the horrors of war, the lonliness of the soldiers and nurses and the compassion of the military personnel. Ken Wahl and Cheryl Ladd are excellent as the leads and your heart aches for them when they are apart and then finally reunited. The reunion never fails to bring tears to my eyes. A Tale As Old As Time Done Right
Beauty and the Beast may well be the very best animated film Disney ever produced. The characterizations of the leads are great as we have the sweet book loving Belle and the the flawed but totally redeemable "Beast".Gaston and Belle's father are also well drawn and memorable as are the comic relief bearing "enchanted" servants at the castle. There's something for everyone as the story is so romantic it leaves a lot of grown up ladies sighing, the bad guys are not too scary for the little ones and for the rest it is just a great tale.Plus Beauty and the Beast has some of the best songs ever written for a Disney production.No wonder the Broadway musical hasbeen such a hit as well.

Tied for first for best Disney feature
I must've been about 10 when I first saw the Lion King and I was practically floored. Those catchy-for-their-own-good songs, the animation(well, me now talking) and that wildebeast stampede. The other one is Beauty and the Beast which for the life of me I can't remember seeing when I was young yet loved every minute of it. Revisiting it now I still love it and on one hand seeing it as a landmark in Disney's catalogue but also one in a series of films that marked a brief creative comeback.

Yep, Disney animation. All my students see this movie at some point between leaving high school and when I meet them as university students. Sometimes, their Chinese university teachers show it to them in class. So, I thought I'd see why they love it so much. I'm still wondering. This is a two-page short story, not a film. Rare Opportunity
I had the opportunity to tape this wonderful movie when it showed on the Disney channel in the mid to late 80's.I honestly watched it so many times by myself and with recruited fans that I wore out the tape.I remember going as a young kid to watch this movie in a small theater in my hometown and it stayed there for many weeks because of the its growing popularity. This is one of those rare occasions when an old film outdoes many new releases even with it's primitive technology.Millions of kids and adults alike will love this movie. Disney get on the ball and release Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow.

Scared silly at the time!
I was a pretty young tyke when Disney ran this movie, and it REALLY made an impression on me (and most of my age cohort, as one of the previous reviews eludes to). As my wife will attest to, I have been singing the "Scare-croooow... Scare-crooow.." theme since she met me 25 years ago! She has yet to see this, so hopefully Disney will do the math and figure out that these golden oldies will sell like hotcakes to US golden oldies. I'm certainly going to pick this one up when it finally arrives!

Patiently Waiting

I first watched Moonwalker when I was 8 years old and I have been hooked on it ever since!! How could they wait this long to release it on DVD? Great dancing but NOT for children

A great intro for children to music appreciation!
My 5 yo loves classical music, and I found these videos at my library.He loves them! I appreciate how Marsalis uses classical music to help us understand jazz, which I like but never really "appreciated." I'm sure we'll borrow them more as he ages and can comprehend more and more of the content!

Big Disappointment!
This video is poorly made. I am a daycare provider and I was excited when I saw this video came out. I brought and watched it first without the kids. I thought it was kinda weird. It has a LOT of filler than has nothing to do with potty training. Which would have been ok expect it's BORING. One spot is about were toilet paper comes from. I don't know any 2 or 3 yr old who cares. The potty training songs are not cute or catchy. There are some parts of this video that can gives kids bad ideas such as putting their hands down their pants, pouring milk and not holding the cup, and playing with toilet paper. There also was a LONG argument between Elmo and Prairie Dawn that was useless. I really discouragemy kids from having arguments. This video seem to be made for older kids than those who need to be potty trained. I have let my daycare kids watch this video. They are bored during the spots I was bored during and are not excited during the rest of the video. It's Potty Time ~ Duke Family Series is a much better video. This the video which train my daughter when she as 18 months and my daycare kids LOVE it. It does have some filler but my daycare kids LOVE it and cheer when I put it on. ... Read more

Wonderful Love story
A beautiful soulmate story. The passion between Timothy and Kelly in this movie makes you want to fall in love over and over again. I gave this movie five stars because of the deep spiritual connection between the characters and their lives. The best surprise is how many famous actors are in this classic. This is my all time favorite love story.

Finding Nemo is a great "catch" for the whole family
Pixar Studios have done it again. I have to say that these guys are totally good in computer animation, as well as in storytelling. Rarely do those qualities come together but here they are, delivering unto the audience once again something that one can only be drowned with wonder. Such is the marvel of Finding Nemo.

When Samuel (Lukas Haas), a young Amish boy traveling with his mother Rachel (Kelly McGillis), witnesses the murder of a police officer in a public restroom, he and his mother become the temporary wards of John Book (Harrison Ford), a detective who's been assigned to solve the crime. After suspect lineups and mug-shot books yield nothing, Samuel, in the most memorable scene of the film, recognizes the murderer as a narcotics agent whose picture he sees in the precinct. Once Book realizes that the police chief is in on it, too, he whisks Samuel and Rachel back home to Amish country, where he himself goes into hiding as a plain Amish man. The juxtaposition between the life of the Amish and the violence of inner-city police corruption work surprisingly well for the story, and Kelly McGillis as the falling in love widow gives an almost perfect performance. Directed by Peter Weir, the film is extremely successful in drawing the viewer into its world and, accordingly, is immensely entertaining. The only thing that mars its polish is the one-dimensional, almost cartoonish handling of the upper-echelon police corruption--a subtler, more realistic treatment of this aspect of the story would have rendered the film near perfect. A Colorful Classic !!
This movie is awsome!! The kittens are adorable and the song "Everybody Wants To Be A Cat" is great.I would reccomend this movie to anyone.It is enertaining,excited and funny.GO AHEAD AND BUY IT!!

Everybody Wants To Be A Cat
Plot in a nutshell - Duchess (voice of Eva Gabor) is the well polished single mother cat of three little kittens. When their owner, the wealthy elderly woman known as Madame Adelaide, realizes that her time is running out she decides to write up her will, leaving everything she has to her cats, which will then go to her butler Edgar when the cats pass on. Edgar overhears this and is deeply offended by the idea that the cats would get everything before him, and plots to destroy Duchess and her kittens; he drops sleeping pills in their supper one night and then leaves them stranded in the French countryside. Out of their element, Duchess and her kittens befriend a street smart stray cat known as Thomas O'Malley (voice of Phil Harris who did the voice of the big bear Balloo in the Jungle Book); after making a pass at Duchess, unaware that she is a single mother, O'Malley decides to escort them back home, with Duchess genuinely falling for O'Malley as the usual codependent surrogate family bond develops; chaos and mayhem ensues, culminating in a violent clash between O'Malley, his brother cats from the streets and Edgar. Also features appearances by British geese, American southern hound dogs (what they were doing in France is anyone's guess), a mouse who sounds a lot like the rabbit from "Alice In Wonderland" (he was in fact voiced by the same guy who voiced Winnie the Pooh) and a horse.

I love cats. Well, most cats at least. I'm not too fond of scary looking cats that come in my yard. Anyway, I have one named Abner that looks just like the dark gray kitten in the movie. This film is about cats and there are several adorable scenes. I especially love the scenes at the beginning when the cats are at home painting and singing and playing the piano. They're so adorable! It doesn't matter that they're animated.

Is there a doctor in this movie?
Yeah, lots of them. There's Frank Sinatra, Dr. Boone. A great pal & party animal. He's becoming a doctor because his daddy is a rich one. Not with my kid. There's Lee Marvin, Dr. Brundage, plannig his lucrative career. Patients are a necessary evil to be dealt with. Then there is another aspiring doctor, Lucas Marsh played by Robert Mitchum. He is the best of them plus he's really built. But he is poor & doesn't have enough money to finish med school. Along comes "plain jane" nurse Kristina, played by Olivia de Havilland. She lives with her parents, doesn't get out much & is turning into a spinster. But she has saved her$$$. Lucas romances her, she falls in love & they marry. His $$$ problems are solved & he has a wife he doesn't love. Lucas is a great doctor & I wouldn't mind being his patient. His people skills however, are lacking. He only has time in his life for medicine. As a result he alienates those around him, most notably his wife. He has impossibly high standards that no one can reach including himself. He is not god. Lots of familiar faces inclusing Harry Morgan playing Kris' idiot father, Brodrick Crawford as the pricipaled patho- logist &, several others.
Lush Ode to the Hippocratic Oath & True Love
"Not as a Stranger" was an unexpected pleasure once I got past the shock of seeing Robert Mitchum, Frank Sinatra, and Lee Marvin (or his twin)as medical students staring down from tiered seating at a lecturing doctor.Oh, my, I thought, that is NOT a town in which to get sick!I was reeling from mis-casting shock for a number of minutes into the movie, but then Hollywood starting luring me into enjoyment of the performances of these actors cast against type.Bob Mitchum, the penniless son of a hopeless alcoholic (a very WELL-cast Lon Chaney, Jr., alas, in a sad role)wants to be a doctor more than any of his fellow colleagues, many of whom dream of big future salaries and big old 50's cars, in order to set the world right. This strikes me as a realistic characteristic of a child of an alcoholic, who's had chaos thrust upon him and wants to put it back in its place.The fact that Bob Mitchum doesn't look like any doctor most folks would imagine actually starts working for him--he does look Proletarian, he does look like someone who's had a rough time heretofore, and he definitely looks like someone with the physical strength to stand up to a doctor's rigorous career demands.Moreover, Frank Sinatra plays the indulged but basically good-hearted son of a rich man who is in med school to score money afterwards convincingly; he WAS a good actor and I came to enjoy his presence in the role.There is A LOT of information in the film about what a good doctor should know and how difficult the job is; done correctly, medical practice is a, don't laugh, noble calling and the film promotes this view.It also, however, acknowledges the presence of greed and mediocrity among medical men and hospital administrators, so there is a sensible balance between ideal and real.Now, as to the true love aspect, Olivia DeHaviland does a wonderful job as the Swedish-American nurse who loves and supports (and I do mean financially as well as emotionally)Bob Mitchum's young doctor.This is another one of those films in which the luminous, beautifully put-together Ms. DeHaviland is supposed to be, cough! cough!, plain--homely, declasse, etc.Yes, her platinum blonde hair is pulled tight enough to break and the make-up is laid on very sparingly, but for heavens sake why did Hollywood think this woman wasn't a raving beauty? I think perhaps the sincerity with which she played gentle women of character and responsibility is partly to blame for her being cast as un-glamorous.It apparently was as hard to reconcile "good" with "sexy" in olden Hollywood as it is now, sigh...Anyway, the nurse sincerely loves her doctor despite her growing awareness that he considers her more of a convenience than anything else, and for me the romantic tension was not so much in the doctor cheating with the horsy rich vavoom girl as in wondering if the fool man would ever realize what he has at home.Watch this beautifully shot, lush, 50's drama and find out.And enjoy all those character actors and actresses, such as Harry Morgan playing a flat-affected Swede with a wonderful poker face.

One of the first of the medical reality movies
Although many of the scenes in this epic would be judged "hokey" by modern standards, "Not As a Stranger" was one of the first films to give viewers a factual look inside the medical profession and challenge the god-like nature of physicians.Mitchum plays a young man with many personal "issues," who tries to work them out by driving himself to become a stellar doctor.Sinatra plays an uncharacteristically "second banana" role as a stalwart physician-friend to Mitchum and DeHavilland.Broderick Crawford is the demanding and idealistic medical school professor who inspires Mitchum, Bickford is the long-suffering and self-sacrificing family doctor whose practice Mitchum joins, and DeHavilland and Grahame are the two women in his life.DeHavilland represents many doctors' wives through the decades, who were chosen as spouses because of the stability and respectability they offered... not because of love.The anguish this causes DeHavilland in the film is poignantly representative of many other real-life women in her position.Gloria Grahame is also another stereotype of the 1950s, playing a rich, bored, depressed widow who acts out on her pain with sexual promiscuity (which is only referenced in a veiled fashion in this movie).In the end, Mitchum fails himself and his friend and mentor, Bickford, by failing to save Bickford's life when he has a medical crisis of his own.The shattering effect this event has on Mitchum is emphasized by the fact that the only person he can turn to in his grief is his wife, DeHavilland, whom he does not love and who does not love him. ... AGreat Halloween Tape
This is my favorite video, I love it! I watch it over and over- not just at Halloween.A lot of the narration is quoted from the book. I love everything about it: the story, the characters, the animation... It's a great video for people of all ages.

A GREAT FILM
THIS MOVIE IS MY FAVORITE DISNEY SEQEUL!I ENJOYED PARTS OF THE FILM WAS WHEN SIMBA'S DAUGHTER AND ZIRA'S SON WERE TOGETHER.I LOVE THIS MOVIE EVEN MORE BECAUSE OF it's "ROMEO & JULIET" STORY,U KNOW,the FAMILIES ARE ENEMYS,the TWO KIDS BECOME FRIENDS,ECT.I SAW THE SECOND DISC WHICH WAS INTERESTING EXCEPT THAT SHORT FILM "ONE BY ONE." I DONT GET WHAT WAS GOING ON. I'M WATCHING IT RIGHT KNOW AND STILL DON'T GET IT.ANYWAYS I ENJOYED THE FILM AND I WILL ADMIT IT, I AM A LION KING FAN.

OK, but not as good as the first one
The Lion King is one of my favourite movie. The second movie it's ok but not as good as the first one. It has poor songs, poor animation and a very poor action. However it has interesting bonus features like games or making-of. I suggest you think before buying this Disney DVD.

Another bad sequel
Why must they make sequels? Why do they insist? I thought this movie was pathetic. I love the first movie, in comparison this movie is trash. I found it confusing because although it is implied that Scar dies in the first movie he suddenly has a pride of lions. Which makes no sense at all, why would Scar have hung out with the hyeneas in the first movie if he had his own pride of lions? Where were they?
