Crossing Delancey is one of the most intelligent, sweet, REAL love stories ever. Made a Peter Riegert fan of me... he makes all the "pretty boy" protagonists look shallow and plastic.I have given away two copies of the VHS version, and am rapidly wearing out the third.I can see a definite need for a DVD.

This movie has You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle beat, without a doubt. (While You've Got Mail was fine, Sleepless in Seattle was rather contrived, with wall-to-wall romantic music, which for me made it not at all appealing, as much as I like Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.)

Paul Newman, an American original, would seem to be the perfect choice to direct a film adaptation of the second novel by another American original--Ken Kesey. But Kesey's novel, written under the influence of both LSD and growing fame, was a mishmash, and Newman's film can't rescue it. It also seems strange to see the ultraliberal Newman starring as a strike-busting logger who honors a contract on principle, rather than observe union concerns, bringing all sorts of misery down on his family. Henry Fonda is interesting as Newman's father, but the film never finds its footing. One killer sequence, however: Richard Jaeckel, as Newman's brother, trapped under a log in a river, slowly drowning despite Newman's best efforts to save him. Read more

I bought the VHS RAD not too long ago and I had to pay a little more then I wanted but it was well worth it for my childhood favorite movie. I would watch that movie over and over again with my friends when I was a kid. They need to put it out on DVD, every month I look for it to be out on DVD and every month I am disappointed. I don't think they would have a problem selling it on DVD because everyone remebers the bike dancing scene. The movie is a classic!!! The VHS is great but I want a DVD, I am sure the VHS could be copy to CD but that would not do it justice it deserves to be re-released and digitaly enhanced and such by the studio. Look at all the other crap release on DVD. It is just is not fair to let a classic movie like RAD fade away.

I saw this movie by accident, by surfing the stations, and now I will never be the same again!I have been living in a "Verbal Cocoon" and not in Reality, no not really, but I feel alot of people are and do. What is interesting is to read all 78 reviews, at this point of time and see how each person abstracts different views and feelings of the movie.I want to thank Amazon, that they have this feature of open reviews, weather they are Good, bad or indifferent. I feel that is what the movie reflexs, that our enviroment reflects how we see and observe or self and life.General Semantics refers to this as "Map to the Territory".The Map is what is going on inside our head, and the Territory is what is going on outside our head. Maps are not all that reliable, as they have to be changed to fit the territory, that which is going on outside your head.One purpose of Education, is to continue to update the map, which is in your head, to the ever changing Territory, which is outside your head.Example. how about a dvd?
This was the BEST version of the old sleepy hollow classic that our family ever saw, but sadly, it hasnt been released as a dvd??Also...whats with the high price for a video?

Best Sleepy Hollow that brings back memories!!!
im only 17, and im surprised at how little the comments on this film are, i love it!!luckily, my mom, back in the 80's before i was born, happen to record this because she loves this story, and this version as well. i litterly grew up with this movie, and i loved it. meg foster is a beautiful katrina van tassel, her eyes are so piercing, lol, and jeff goldblum, in a VERY early performance, is the best ichabod, cuz hes funny and silly and skinny just like ichabod should be. that old man fritz is funny, yeah the principal on welcome back kotter, and i remember watching that tv show and being like "oh look, its that guy from sleepy hollow", lol. my mom was the one who told me that tim butkis (but-kis, real football name, lol) was a football player. this is just a great family film, and its great to watch around halloween time. that palmer character is FUNny, and hes just creepy and crazy, like an old pirate. the roamnce between ichabod and katrina is very sweet and innocent, and there should be more movies with that kind of romance nowadays. the part that always cracks me up is when that fred duthcer guy tries to pull on the bell and that palmer guy is on top of the roof and messes around with him and makes him rise and drop on brom, lol. the part when i was smaller that always creeped me out, but now just makes me laugh a bit, was when ichabod sees the shadow on the wall and that groaning happens, its quite creepy, but funny too, lol. and FINNALLY, the actual real headless horseman we keep hearing about but dont see until the end basically. its good...though compared to tim burtons sleepy hollow is not really that scary, but more like a fun scary, like you no its the headless horseman and your all hyped to see him, even though its a bit fake, its still exciting and fun, knowing its actaully him. i mean, you KNOW someone is under that shopulder padding, but what the heck, a great chase none the less. i just wish ichabod discovered earlier that it was the headless horseman and not that palmer guy. i wanted to see more of his reaction to his knowing that this is a REAL ghost and not a man dressed up as one, but what the hey, that one is left for tim burton, but this one will always be #1 for me cuz i grew up with this and its a perfect family/halloween masterpiece, in fact, i just watched it a few nights ago and i just LOVE it!! i highly recommend this to anyone who loves this story, that cast is great, and even though its not that true to the book (it seems all these film adaptations arent fully true to the book, but thank God they werent like this with The Lord Of The Rings), its still the funnest, and funniest, version your likely to come across other then the great disney version, wich i just watched last night with my mom, lol. and for anyone who loves the disney one, youll notice in the tim burton one some hints to it, like the "icha-crane" frog sounds at the bridge, lol. well thats my big review and compliment to this film, hope it helps!

By Far My Favorite Disney Movie!!!
I love this movie because it's very cute and sweet. One of my favorite parts is when all the dogs are sending around the "twilight bark". It's kind of like in The Resuers Down Under when the mice send around the message.
This is a Cute Movie!.

Outstanding Childen's Series with 'Peanuts' Characters Created by Minnesotan Charles Schulz
One of 13 kids videos that teach kids
Great cartoon! (And educational, too.)
This Is America, Charlie Brown cartoons were very innovative specials that featured the Peanuts characters in important moments in history, and gave kids (as well as parents) a fun insight on how certain histicorial characters (and their influences) came to be. This episode is about the how the Constitution was created, as well as how the legislative, executive and judicial branches affected the delegates. The special mainly revolved around Linus and Peppermint Patty, but the other usual characters were there as well (Schroeder was only in one scene, but he didn't have any line). It was good.
My 4 year old and my 6 year old enjoy this tape very much.They have learned much about the Transcontinental Railroad.This video is packed with a lot of facts, but done in a way that the children enjoy watching.I am well pleased that it is a part of our collection. ... Read more

A brief comment
I bought this tape to get the main song and arrangement from The Little Mermaid. I like Jamaican steel drum music, and this is one of the best songs done in this style that I've seen. If you add in the visuals, you get one of Disney's finest moments, in my humble opinion. The whole video has a sea or maritime theme, though, which is nice because it thematically ties everything together, and the songs range from 1930s to the 1980s, including Disney's reprisals of even older songs (such as "By the Beautiful Sea," which I suspect goes back to the 1890s or early 1900s). Overall a good video and Scrooge McDuck serves as the host. :-)

A lasting memory(from the childs mind)
A family member bought this vhs for me when I was little.I think before 1994. I am now 25 years old and the songs still this day will put a smile on my face. It took a while for me to get use to some of the older songs but once I got it I was dancing around the house and pretending I could sing all day to them. Im going to purchase it for my daughter now and hope that it brings as much joy to her as it did to me. It is amust have. It will keep the kids interested.

This is one of my favorite movies. It is a very interesting and moving picture and also very funny in some parts (Anshel's first night of wedded bliss with Hadass comes to mind.) Barbra Streisand was so talented in "Yentl." But I think Mandy Patinkin was just as entertaining, maybe more because the character of Avigdor was so multifaceted. They worked so well together. Release Angus on DVD
C'mon when are these people going to wise up and release this fantastic movie on DVD.

"Angus" is a movie about a shy 14 year old who doesn't fit in. He is humiliated and picked on by others at school, and spends most of his time hanging out with his friend, another outsider named Troy, and his grandfather, and dreaming of being with the school's hottest cheerleader, Melissa Lefevre. One day, his dreams come true, somewhat, when he is chosen to dance with Melissa at the Winter Ball. However, the set up was planned by Melissa's boyfriend, and Angus' arch nemesis, Rick Sanford. I was in florida on vacation when my mother first saw it and she told me on the phone that I had to see it because all she thought while watching the movie was that it was my life. honestly, anyone who has ever been the pet whipping boy of their school should see this movie. hell, anyone wh ever bullied someone because they were different should see it, they may learn a lesson from it. from the beginning it grabs your attention and holds it all the way through the end. I really wish they would hurry up with the dvd release of it. the soundtrack is phenominal. I still get funny looks when people are looking through my cd case and find the CD with a blowup doll on it. lol. one song that I l;oved in the film, however is not one the soundtrack. for any of you looking for this song it's by peter gabriel and it's called the washing of the water. but aside from the soundtrack. Well, i am here to say this is a fabulous tool! I watched all of these as a child and have shared them with my children.For those of you with the less than 5 star reviews let me say...This is not meant to be an exhaustive history lesson!It is a great way to introduce children to the history of our country. Something that, in my experience, schools made very boring.My children love history.If you find it not as accurate then be the one to take the next step and research it with your kids.I would agree it is geared toward younger kids but not that older kids would find it "stupid" at all! These reviews were pretty harsh. Also, the pilgrims DID plant food.Yes, the indians taught them everything and saved them but i wouldn't call that an inaccuracy. Duh! Vinci Code
Thirty five years ago when I used to thread the 16mm version through a projector in my 4th grade classroom, I, and my students, thought it was the most entertaing, fascinating film we ever saw. After I stopped teaching, I searched for it for years, just wanting to have it in my collection. I finally found it used, on Amazon, watched it once just to bring back the memories, then put it on my shelf. Then I read The da Vinci Code. I couldn't believe it! All the reference to the golden rectangle, golden ratio, proportions of the pentagram, the Pythagorean Society, and even Disney himself! And to think I was teaching all that to my 9 year olds in the 60's before Dan Brown was even born! A fun video for any math lover.

You hairy little bed-stealer! This needs to be DVD-released NOW!!!
Rocket Man is another favorite of mine. Recently, UPN teased us by showing it on TV. Got my hopes up that the next time I was at Best Buy or any other DVD retailer that I would finally get my hands on this gem. But no. PLEASE IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, RELEASE THIS ON DVD! To anyone curious about viewing this movie, it's great fun and shouldn't be missed. Harland Williams is absolutely hilarious as a computer whiz who winds up getting sent on a mission to Mars. It's a Disney movie so prepare for a tidy ending as usual, but you'll be laughing the whole way through this journey, especially once they are on Mars. I don't want to give away any more and spoil it for you all, but if you think Williams is funny in Half Baked or even in his bit part as the serial killer in There's Something About Mary just to name a few, he's an absolute riot in this. For now, you'll have to rent/buy on VHS, but let's hope that this makes its way onto DVD soon!

This workout is the best I have tried, and the only one that work for me..It will help you loose pounds and keep you on shape.

Oldie but Good Goodie
I love this JF tape so much that when my old copy was no longer playable I ordered another one and will continue to do so. This tape is great for it's time and even better today. The exercise really do tone and strech the body, giving me the longer slimmer look I love. It's tough, don't be fooled but worth it in the end I also found it to be a great stress reliever.

Step It Up With Cher....Keli Roberts Instructs...
There are 77 reviews here already for "Cherfitness: A New Attitude" and the average rating is 5 stars. That is about right, and I'd like to add my 5 star rating as well. But I would say this is not for those who are just getting into workouts, or have been out of it for a while. For those I would suggest Jane Fonda's startup program for very beginners or "The Fix - A Dance workout" for coming back after being away for a while, which has 3 programs, to help you burn calories and firm up. However, if you have been doing aerobics for a while and want to step up the intensity of your work out, you will love the step work out here. You will burn more calories then with regular floor aerobics, and the instructor is one of the best. Keli Roberts.

I love the step workout. If I only have 10 minutes to work out, I'll stretch first, then start wherever I last left the tape cued up. Music is great. Cher is good about cheering you on without being cutesy.

I want the music!

HEART WRENCHING

ARTISTRY IN ANIMATION, MUSIC &THE COMPUTER ALL PUT TO FANTASTIC EFFECT
IN A NUTSHELL: LET FANTASIA SPEAK FOR ITSELF & IT SPEAKS MAGICALLY
Not original but still worth having
Yes it is true that Fantasia has been edited, but that is because Disney had to edit something that by today's standards would be socially unacceptable. for the time the movie was made (1942) it would be a different situation. I agree with their decision to edit those parts out, although you can find the scenes on the internet, and they are interesting to watch, but I can agree that they were edited for good reason. and it is true, just because a movie is edited doesn't mean that those parts weren't there, but if you want to own Fantasia on DVD, then this is worth buying. the only difference from the VHS version to note is, the narration has been re-recorded, and though it is not the original narration, it is still good I only noted 1 or 2 differences in the narration from the original. this is the best (socially acceptable) copy of Fantasia you will ever find, those of you who are looking for the original version (ie 1942) you are out of luck, every re-release of this movie since the 1970's has been edited, and unless you want celluloid film you'll just have to get this.

The all-time classic!
Fantasia is the all-time classic animated movie. Where to begin with this one? The animation is incredible, with stunning artwork, effects, and a huge palet of colors. The storytelling is top-notch, with excellent pacing and story development. Using classical music as a storytelling tool is A LOT harder than you may think, and the Disney animators pulled it off brilliantly. Each segment of Fantasia is its own self-contained movie, and each one is a winner. Even the weakest segment (the first one) is still an outstanding example of innovation (jawdropping for the 1940's). Other than the first segment, all stand up perfectly to repeated viewings. Fantasia is an AMAZING movie, which will entertain adults as much as children (a rarity). It is fitting in an ironic way, then, that Fantasia was also Disney's biggest flop when it was released in 1940. Oftentimes truly outstanding works take many years to be be recognized as the masterpieces they are (Wizard Of Oz, Its A Wonderful Life).

amazing
i remembre first finding callanetics,about ten years ago,and i have to say after getting very big with each child,callan always brings me back to an amazing beautiful body.
Take your time and keep doing it!
I did callanetics at a gym about 6 years ago, and I remember dropping 1 dress size after only one month.Then life got in the way and I stopped doing it.When I saw this tape on Amazon, I had to buy it.I've been doing the tape for the past 2 weeks, and I have to tell you, I can feel my body getting firmer and more flexible.The exercises are hard, so don't let Callan's soft tone and slow pace fool you.Take your time and don't be discouraged.Some reviews complained about how boring the music and Callan are.I turn the radio on in the background while I do the tape to alleviate that problem.Slow and steady wins the race.Take your time, keep the right form, and you'll be fine.

Great workout video
I love Callanetics! I am very athletic and have extremely musclular thighs, I always have since I was little. So I don't like to workout with weights at the gym that much because I start bulking up even when I am doing lots of cardio. Anyways I started swimming and doing Callanetics and yoga and I really have liked the result. I feel as if my legs look a lot leaner more like a dance than a body builder. I also like doing the quick calanetic tapes if you just want to work on one troublesome area. Although this tape is 80's style Its definitely a keeper. Just watch your form when performing the exercises! Hope this helped and you get to meet all your summer fitness goals. :) ... Read more
