Boy meets girl. Girl is actually a witch. Boy dumps fiancee. Boy and girl fall in love. Boy finds out that girl put a spell on him. Let the fireworks begin.
4-0 out of 5 stars Opposites attract!
I purchased this DVD because a friend thought this movie was the inspiration for the television series, "Bewitched."I thought a better candidate was "I Married a Witch."

5-0 out of 5 stars Prisoner of Azkaban is Fantastic.....
I love this movie!! I like the direction Alfonso Cuarón took with movie compared to how the first two movies were made. The Prisoner of Azkaban is darker than the first two movies. Prisoner of Azkaban shows the maturity and more character depth for each of the main characters now that they are growing older.
5-0 out of 5 stars The darkest Potter's movie
The best of the four first Harry Potter's movies. Good part of the merit falls on the sensitive and atmospherical direction of Alfonso Cuaron ( " Great expectations " ) who gives to the film a more carefulness plastic treatment and darker content. The film contains some excellent sequences as that one, that at time is a big lesson of fine pedagogy, in which the boys must learn to identify and fight theirs own fears, a sequence plenty of healthy humour and creative cinematographic invention, or that impossible other, that help us to complete the holes of the immediatly previous sequence, in which Harry turns down the Time to change the course of the events with the precious and unconscious collaboration of himself ( Harry meets himself in the past ). Although the film follows the general plot and basic narrative scheme of the book, many lines have been rewritten and some scenes deleted in benefit of the sensitive body of the movie.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the series, so far.
This is by far my favorite Harry Potter film. We all know Alfonso Cuarón is an awesome director, and here he shows it.

Editorial Review

A mysterious, pilotless plane carries scientist Rex Reason to a colony of America's best and brightest minds. They've been kidnapped by a dying alien race, the Metalunians, to repair their defense shield before their enemies destroy their world completely, toiling under their spying eyes and futuristic security cameras (two-way TVs that dominate every room). Jeff Morrow, under a raised forehead, bronze tan, and snow-white hair, philosophizes as Exeter, the thoughtful Metalunian torn between his duty and his morals as he forces the plucky humans to labor in his race's defense. The moody mystery of the first half turns to pure pulp adventure when the humans are transported across the galaxy to the battle-scarred world of Metaluna, under the threatening watch of a monstrous bug-eyed monster with a giant brain for a head and massive claws for hands. There's a genuine sense of wonder to Joseph Newman's intergalactic adventure, one of the most ambitious science fiction films of the 1950s. The story is simple space opera, but the futuristic designs of glass and metal, the marvelous alien makeup, and grandstanding special effects invest the film with a Technicolor splendor. 1-0 out of 5 stars Starts Out Promising, but Ultimately Fails to Deliver Much. Bummer.
This film is forgotten amongst 1950's pseudo-intellectual sci-fi movies for good reason: it fails to deliver any type of philosophical moral to the story, (as the few, best of the 1950's fantasy/sci-fi films did), and the monster scenes are way too brief (as most 1950's monster movies at least got that much right)! THIS ISLAND EARTH is a two-time loser in my opinion.
5-0 out of 5 stars This Island Earth
The plot is corny but I loved it.The Metalunians have the technology to travel 80 billion miles through space and yet they come to earth of all places seeking help to save their planet from exploding.I guess the humans being too stupid for extended space travel have to be smart at something, right? However, once you get over the plot, this movie is very entertaining given the neat special effects of the 50's, the interocitor (sp?) powered by a thyratron, the transport aircraft etc ..,This fits right in there with the origional war of the worlds and is from the era when they made fun, non explicit movies for the whole family

3-0 out of 5 stars Pleasing 50's sci-fi fare still fun to watch
Let's start with the most important stuff here if you've seen this classic 50's film. How does it look, sound and are there any worthwhile extras? The colors look quite nice in this print. The Image disc appeared a bit blurry at times with colors bleeding. That doesn't occur here. "This Island Earth" was shot using the Technicolor three strip process (except for the visual effects). The film was shot in full screen but presented in widescreen. That will bug you if you have a widescreen monitor but probably won't if you have a standard TV. Three and a half stars for the visual presentation because it isn't presented in its original widescreen presentation.

4-0 out of 5 stars Yo ho ho, this is an interesting, surprisingly gory film
Now, here's a film that should definitely be available on DVD by now.By the time I got around to watching this, I had completely forgotten what it was even supposed to be about - but I put away any misgiving once I saw that it starred Michael Caine and was based on Peter Benchley's post-Jaws novel of the same name.Admittedly, the movie is a little out there and has a couple of weaknesses in the plot, but the whole thing is realistic enough to be plausible and features some pretty shocking violence for a 1980 non-horror movie - the opening scene is a particularly effective attention-getter. 5-0 out of 5 stars Movie " The Island "
Wow , Movie is flawless and the box was in better shape than really anyone would worry about . Had ben looking for this movie for a couple years and finally have it in my collection.. Thanks again .....

3-0 out of 5 stars The Carribbean from a different perspective
I saw this movie for the first time on cable when I was a kid way back in the early 80'sWhile it may not be one of the greatest movies ever made, it certainly is intriguing. If you're like me and like to jaunt down to the Carribbean once in a while, THE ISLAND will put a different perspective and a new spin on that part of the world. It creeped me out as a kid to see pirates who still lived as though they were in the 18th century wreak all that havoc, yet frankly, today I don't know whether to laugh or to be greatly disturbed by it all. With the recent success of PIRATES OF THE CARRIBBEAN, I wouldn't be surprised if people seek out this movie for a comparison. ... They skydive, they kickbox, they travel through space. Is there anything these crayon-colored teens can't do? The answer seems a resounding "no," until some construction workers unwittingly open a manhole cover and loose Ivan Ooze upon Angel Grove. Although incarcerated in his egglike tomb for 6,000 years, Ooze gets right to work at that world domination thing. First up: Strip those eager teens of their morphin uniforms and associated powers and send their leader Zordon to his crystalline deathbed. There's nothing to do but head for a distant planet to meet up with a bikini-clad warrior babe who imparts ancient wisdom and power. Meanwhile, Ooze has been turning parents into zombies who craft giant metallic insects--all the better to take over the world with. This 90-minute film features some cast changes from the Fox television series, as well as better special effects and extended fight scenes, which account for the PG rating. Parents must weigh in for themselves on the famous violent-influence-or-not question. Although, like anything else, what seemed violent in 1995 may seem a bit tame today. Ages 5 and up. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 1995--I was 7. Power Rangers--cool!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
Very good product sent in excellent condition. Would purchase other items from this vendor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest Ever
To this day, Power Rangers the Movie is forever the greatest spin-off of the series, ever. This was the first to not be based off the original Super Sentai series that the show was spliced from. While the dialogue is still cheesy and the movements over-exaggerated, it's a drastic improvement from the show. I decided to re-watch it after I found that Johnny Young Bosch who played Adam Park was going to be at Anime Expo this year. Thirteen years later and I still enjoy it. I can't help it, it's a brilliant movie perfect for young children. Unlike today where many of the so-called children's movies are filled with double entendres and adult humor, this has very few jokes a child will not understand. A perfect movie filled with good vs evil, silly over the top villains (come on...Ivan Ooze?) and giant robots. ... Read more

I have just about worn out this videotape. It is one of the few video cassettes that I still own, simply because it cannot be replaced on DVD (yet). If you like cartoons and have not seen this, it is a MUST! Oh please, WB, release these fantasic shorts uncut and in all their glory on DVD! Please! Please!
5-0 out of 5 stars Tex Avery....on dvd, but NOT in the USA!!!!
Why is it that one of the undisputed grand masters of american animation does NOT have any of his work on dvd in the united states ?????This is such an incomprehensible feat of omission by Warner who owns the rights to practically al of his greatest work that I just can not get over it!!!! Indeed, a marvellous boxset, with extra's, of 63 of his best cartoons has been issued by this studio....but ONLY in FRANCE!!!!They think of Tex Avery as a genius over there and so warners cashed in on his fame....in the USA there seems to be the idea that nobody will buy a boxset of Tex Avery cartoons I guess.....In these days when every piece of trash that has ever appeared on tv or film gets a ultimate collection boxset the work of this genius, these hilarious works that were so far ahead of their time get not even a nod in their own country!!!!!
5-0 out of 5 stars Pure animation gold. Needs to be on DVD!
Why, oh why is this not on DVD?! This is a fantastic colection and should be on DVD (with lots of extras) for every one to enjoy. The toons are classic. I can remember seeing many of them as a kid. Some of the gags are a little dated, perticulaly those made during the war years. How ever, over all this was some of the best animation ever produced.

Sarah (a teenage Jennifer Connelly) rehearses the role of a fairy-tale queen, performing for her stuffed animals. She is about to discover that the time has come to leave her childhood behind. In real life she has to baby-sit her brother and contend with parents who don't understand her at all. Her petulance leads her to call the goblins to take the baby away, but when they actually do, she realizes her responsibility to rescue him. Sarah negotiates the Labyrinth to reach the City of the Goblins and the castle of their king. The king is the only other human in the film and is played by a glam-rocking David Bowie, who performs five of his songs. The rest of the cast are puppets, a wonderful array of Jim Henson's imaginative masterpieces. Henson gives credit to children's author and illustrator Maurice Sendak, and the creatures in the movie will remind Sendak fans of his drawings. The castle of the king is a living M.C. Escher set that adults will enjoy. The film combines the highest standards of art, costume, and set decoration. Like executive producer George Lucas's other fantasies, Read more

If you're looking at this, you've probably seen the movie as a kid or with your children and want to share it with the next generation. So I won't waste your time with a review of the movie. I loved it and bought it to show my son, since I'm slowly getting rid of my VHS collection.
3-0 out of 5 stars IMAGINITIVE AND FUN
Despite some stilted acting, this is still a wildly imaginitive and fun movie with a great sense of humour. However it does get a little tedious towards the end.

2-0 out of 5 stars not big on mixing musical with fantasy
I never saw this movie until i was 16. The girl i was dating at the time loved this movie. The rocky horror picture show was number one on her list so i tend to compare this one to that one not that the storys are similar in any way. But they do have one thing in common they are both horrible movies. I did give this movie two stars because it had some slightly entertaining moments, well so did fraggle rock! fraggle rock got cancelled for a reason! everyone burn your copies now! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THE CAT'S MEOW
If you are an adult who absolutely cannot tolerate what might be called "a really cute movie", then you must at all costs avoid STUART LITTLE.However, if you're either (a) an adult who can't resist such cuteness; or (b) a cat owner who loves watching cats talk, then STUART LITTLE is right up your alley!!M. Night Shamalayan (Sixth Sense, The Village) of all people is the co-writer of this whimsical adaptation of E.B. White's classic book. While the humans are insufferably coy, the animals are the true stars of this film.Geena Davis and Hugh Laurie (House, Flight of the Phoenix) ooze paternal bliss as Stuart's adopted parents, while Jonathan Lipnicki is the epitome of kid cuteness, but it's Michael J. Fox as Stuart; Nathan Lane as Snowbell, and Chazz Palmineteri, Steve Zahn, Jennifer Tilly and the other "voices" that provide the pizzazz for this movie. The wizardry of the special effects teams gives these animals life and personality, and they're just as delightful as the talking animals in "Babe."The movie's focus on heart and family is uplifting and it just provides a ninety minute cute experience.

1-0 out of 5 stars Where's the book?!!!??
I have a couple of reasons why this is bad:
3-0 out of 5 stars Big budget nonsense!
This movie was like watching a weird cartoon where utter nonsense is accepted as normal. Reminded me of Space Jam where seeing cartoon characters and space ships landing on ball fields are accepted as no big deal. This movie may have worked better as a cartoon but I think it failed miserably as a movie.

To this day I love this movie. As well as The Lost Boys, Gremlins, Space Camp, Ice Pirates, etc. If you love 80's movies and the music you will enjoy this movie. Im so glad to have found it again and recommend it to anyone.

Robin Williams and Annabella Sciorra star in this visually stunning metaphysical tale of life after death. Neurologist Chris and artist Annie had the perfect life until they lost their children in an auto accident; they're just starting to recover when Chris meets an untimely death himself. He's met by a messenger named Albert (Cuba Gooding Jr.) and taken to his own personal afterlife--a freshly drawn world reminiscent of Annie's own artwork, still dripping and wet with paint. Meanwhile a depressed Annie takes her own life, compelling Chris to traverse heaven and hell to save Annie from an eternity of despair.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Film
This is one of the most visually beautiful films of all time, add an equally compelling story and you have a "Perfect Film" Everyone should see this classic film!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Visually Stunning
"What Dreams May Come" is based on a novel by Richard Matheson ('A Stir of Echoes'), stars Robin Williams ('Good Will Hunting'), and won the 1998 Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. That's a well deserved Oscar, because this film has some of the most beautiful visual effects and art direction I've ever seen put on screen before. Williams plays Chris Nielson who tells us how he met the love of his life, Annie (Annabella Sciorra, 'The Hand That Rocks the Cradle'). Chris and Annie get married and have two children...But their world is rocked when the two children die in a car accident. They return to their normal life, for the most part, but then Chris dies in a car accident leaving Annie alone. With a man named Albert (Cuba Gooding Jr.) to guide him, Chris begins to explore heaven which is of his own creation (he builds it from Annie's paintings); But then Annie commits suicide, which guarantees her eternal damnation in Hell. I know this sounds like a book/movie written by a religious fanatic, but this movie (and rightly so) doesn't even really touch down on the subject of religion. The movie, despite its beauty and wonderful performances, isn't a masterpiece. As far as visuals, it is for sure...But the story tends to drag and become dull. Williams and Sciorra hit all the right notes as the devastated couple and Gooding Jr. gives a joyous performance. Max Von Sydow ('Needful Things') is also great as The Tracker who helps lead Chris into Hell to find Annie. The movie's got a beautiful story and a wonderful (if not melancholy) ending, but it's more to be appreciated than enjoyed.
4-0 out of 5 stars I'd give it 5, but...
I'd give this film 5 stars on most levels,

5-0 out of 5 stars There's breathing in my barn!
Claude Rains. The man.The myth. The legend. You cannot talk about this film, whether in conversation or in any review, without placing this actor on the tip of your tongue. He is the epitome of the madness that surrounded the power-hungry Invisible Man.In this day of modern cinematic wonder, most full-fledged actors would want their faces to be in front of the camera, showcasing the entire film.Directors would want this fledgling star to promote their film, get kiddies interested in spending their money, and for financiers to see the profits of their contributions.Let's face it, if Brad Pitt is in a movie, typically most audience members are actually going to "see" Brad Pitt.Thankfully, we have directors like James Whale and his interpretation of H.G.Wells' classic The Invisible Man.Whale took a powerful story, expanded it, breathed life into it, and followed up with quite possibly one of the most sinister villains in movie horror history since Hannibal Lector. He is crude, he is heartless, and he wants nothing more than world domination ... he is Claude Rains ... and yet, until the end of the film, we never see the white's of his eyes.
5-0 out of 5 stars "There's A Souvenir For You"
Haven't we all fantasized about what it would be like to be invisible? Most of the common perks come to mind: spying, getting into movies and amusement parks free, even the baser peeping tom inclinations come to mind. James Whale would pair his Frankenstein masterpieces with this equally trend-setting film. The film is only loosely based on the popular H.G. Wells novel and is played more for chills. Claude Rains does such a wonderful role when you consider that for most of the film he is denied a physical presence on the screen.
4-0 out of 5 stars Masterly vintage science fiction movie
I would argue that nowhere in the history of the movies has there been an odder movie debut than that of the great Claude Rains in The Invisible Man .He is seen only briefly in the final scene and the vast majority of his " appearance " in this effective adaptation of Wells is a voice only one .

You may have read my review for the Disney film "Peter Pan".I said it was a good movie, right?Well, this one did not live up to it's 1953 prequel. It was boring and dramatic and just another cheap Disney sequel.
4-0 out of 5 stars Um.......I Don't know
I like this movie and I don't like this movie.Like my dad I LOVE PETER PAN. I've read the book a million times over, and I was really excited when I saw the previews for this movie. My family saw it in the theaters and I really liked it at first. But after seeing a few times more then it got a little cheesy. The music doesn't really fit the movie and Peter acted more like a kid than ever( even though he's not suppose to grow up they could have made him have more brains than that). This movie is good but it has some parts that are embarressly kiddish.Out of the three squels I think disney did a good job on this one would be second place.

3-0 out of 5 stars "Return" Tries, But Falls Short
It was a wonderful idea to make a "sequel" (if you can call the film a sequel fifty years later) to Peter Pan.In the original novel, after Wendy has grown up, Peter returns to meet her daughter Jane.I was very excited about this movie.

This is a very cute movie about friendship that should be in everyones collection. The story is great for the kids, but the adults in the family will love the "in" jokes that go over the head of the little ones. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is How a Great Remake is Made
In the original INVASION (1956), the alien pods descend on a small California town and overtake it.Everyone knows everyone. The slightest change in anyone's personality is noticable so the humans are tipped off a little early.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic sci-fi and one of my favorite films
This movie is outstanding. I love everything about it, from the script, direction and creepy atmosphere to the acting, casting and effects. I haven't seen a Philip Kaufman movie yet that has disappointed me, though this is my favorite one of his. Most people are familiar with the basic plot: Invaders from another planet create duplicates of existing people, apparently with the intent of taking over the entire planet. The concept is so frightening for several reasons: absolutely everyone is vulnerable and there is nothing that can be done to exempt oneself; it is unknown to the viewers who is a pod creature because the aliens do not have bodies of their own, rather are identical to an existing person; the existing person dies once the alien doppelganger is `born,' and the ending leaves open the distinct impression the entire planet will eventually be overtaken. This concept takes on new meaning in the digital age because so many among us have been victims of identity theft, so this seems to hit that much closer to home. We can also see the parallels between this concept and that of a conspiracy theory, where so many people are involved we consider ourselves powerless to stop it. When done well, as the 1978 film is, we are left with a feeling of dread and hopelessness. The 1956 original is decent, though the effects and acting are dated. The 1993 update is rather poorly made and unconvincing, even though it is worth seeing for the lovely Gabrielle Anwar. It is now too early to tell how good the 2007 version with Nicole Kidman will be, so see the 1978 version if you have not done so already!

2-0 out of 5 stars Great Movie, Terrible DVD
This is one of the great remakes -- a remake that actually doesn't just rehash the original. It takes the same premise in a different direction. And it has a 70s apocalyptic character -- edgy and just a little depressing. The original and this remake really reflect their times.
