For Your Princess
It's so wonderful to live in a time when Disney's strange behavior of taking their classics off the market can be circumvented by great Internet marketers like Amazon. I was able to buy this 5 Star Disney Princess classic recently for my young princess through one of Amazon's third-party sellers. And without that opportunity, my little princess may have outgrown Snow White by the time Disney released it again.
Sleeping Beauty Awakens!
This DVD changed my opinion of Disney's Sleeping Beauty.Since the story has been summarized elsewhere, my review will focus mainly on the DVD itself.I had never been much of a fan previously and viewed this as a sort of Snow White and Cinderella also-ran, although I did love the gorgeous, sweeping adaption of Tchaikovsky's ballet, with "I wonder" and especially "Once Upon a Dream" being among Disney's finest and most transportative musical pieces.The difference between this and prior releases of Sleeping Beauty (indeed, of many Disney movies) is that the digital restoration truly enhances the film possibly beyond what, as one reviewer put it, may actually have been experienced by the original theatrical audience.
This movie is excellent.
One thing I most love about this movie, is the music. Slepping Beauty has songs from the ballet. I watch this movie whenever I can. Just to counter all the negative reviews...the Duck is what it is.
I understand why someone who is looking for a great film would be disappointed.Howard the Duck is no Saving Private Ryan or English Patient.Thankfully not all films are or we'd be really bored.What Howard The Duck IS is entertaining.It's a guy in a duck suit...so what?It's pretty funny and refreshingly enjoyable to watch.It is a well made B-movie...so if you look at it on that level then it's a lot of fun.And it's not helpful to compare the film which is aimed at a young audience to the comic which was very adult.Two different things entirely...really, if there were enough fans of the comic (and I'm one) then there would be a new, adult version of Howard.I don't see that happening.So enjoy the film for what it is.I hope the DVD does it justice.

Now people we need to get over it.

George Lucas, please take note
This remake of the classic serial adventure plays like the opposite of the recent 'Star Wars' prequels: it's campy, silly, goofy, cheesy...and a lot of fun.
Why has this not been reissued!!
Oi, it's true this has come out on dvd already but, hey it came out on dvd almost ten years ago.Back then DVD players were around the price of 700 bucks so, this movie was released in a very very small print run...... Here it is 2006 dvd players are 50 bucks and this movie is still not rereleased and ironicly sells more than it cost to buy a dvd player!?!? Whats up with that?????Why has this great cheesy sci fi film yet to see a reissue or some sort of "collectors tin" edition just so they can charge 30 bucks. Either way I'd be estatic to see this come out on dvd at a price I could afford!!!The only thing I could see thats preventing this from being rereleased is the soundtrack royalties...... If so, hey queen please don't be greedy or hey universal don't be cheap on royalties.... I don't know who's at fault but, come on bring this film to dvd again at a price we can afford.... Someone is sitting on this film because it's not even rerunned on some offshoot of a turner network like it was throughout the eighties..... Bring this back to dvd! Flesh Gordon is easily findable on dvd but, not the real movie..... Oh, as for a review of this film this is a movie about a jets quaterback who saves the universe! And in space if one recalls dudes bleed blue blood since theres no oxygen ;) And the soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks made by one band for a movie period. No songs feel forced into the movie... Instead each track flows perfectly with this film.... IE this was made in the day when soundtracks where just that soundtracks to the film. Not some junk to sell a new "artist's" single like soundtracks are so like today.....

Wow - has it really been 26 years since Flash saved every one of us?
And what thanks did he get? No special treatment, no Superbowl ring, not even a crummy twenty-fifth anniversary re-release on DVD. Where's the justice? Where are the special features? Where's the widescreen, digital transfer? What the heck ever happened to Sam Jones? Is Ming the Merciless running the Universal Studios home video division? Will my children be doomed to a lifetime of Flash-lessness? Please, Flash, say it's not so!

A Tale As Old As Time Done Right
Beauty and the Beast may well be the very best animated film Disney ever produced. The characterizations of the leads are great as we have the sweet book loving Belle and the the flawed but totally redeemable "Beast".Gaston and Belle's father are also well drawn and memorable as are the comic relief bearing "enchanted" servants at the castle. There's something for everyone as the story is so romantic it leaves a lot of grown up ladies sighing, the bad guys are not too scary for the little ones and for the rest it is just a great tale.Plus Beauty and the Beast has some of the best songs ever written for a Disney production.No wonder the Broadway musical hasbeen such a hit as well.

Tied for first for best Disney feature
I must've been about 10 when I first saw the Lion King and I was practically floored. Those catchy-for-their-own-good songs, the animation(well, me now talking) and that wildebeast stampede. The other one is Beauty and the Beast which for the life of me I can't remember seeing when I was young yet loved every minute of it. Revisiting it now I still love it and on one hand seeing it as a landmark in Disney's catalogue but also one in a series of films that marked a brief creative comeback.

A Bewitching Comedy With Sexy Witch Veronica Lake
It's rare nowadays when you can say that you have seen a totally delightful comedy in the cinemas. That rare marriage of charming scenerio, ideally cast players, and romantic setting seems to be sadly a thing of the past which is why I always find "I Married a Witch", such enjoyable viewing. Here we have two very famous performers in dramatic veteran Fredric March, and Film Noir siren Veronica Lake playing against their usual "type" and having a field day cutting loose with this romantic screwball tale that combines sexy humour with elements of the supernatural. Based on the unfinished novel by "Topper", author Thorne Smith, "I Married a Witch", gave us a whole new image of what witches were like minus the warts and crooked nose and in much the same vein as the later legendary series "Bewitched", showed us witches who were playful and extremely sexy. Veronica Lake had I feel her most appealing role here and proved herself adept at frothy comedy and capable of far more than just looking slinky hiding behind her famous peek a boo hairstyle. unhappy ending
purchased the dvd and received it quickly - when trying to view the dvd I found it has no audio - I contacted the seller NO RESPONSE - I then went through Amazon and still NO RESPONSE. I am very disappointed and sad to say this has put a sour taste in my mouth. I can say I will never purchase anything from CHILLOUT ZONE again as it only takes but a minute to respond to an e-mail and they can not even to that....

Simply one of Disney's Best
This has got to be at least in the top three of the many animated movies the Disney studios produced.So many great characters are in it - Cleo, Jiminy Crickit, The Good Fairy, Gepetto, Honest John, Monstro and of course Pinocchio himself.So many good hummable songs too including"An Actor's Life", I've Got No Strings to Hold Me Down, and the most famous "When You Wish Upon A Star."The story is original and the plot exciting without being too scary for little ones and all ends happily.Don't miss the ride at Disneyland either!

Made back when Disney made truely great animated films. I love the old Disney stuff and Pinocchio is one of the best. Disney was and is the king of this film genre, especially back when this one was made. NO animation done today rivals the Disney cartoons of the era this film was made. Warner Brothers, Dreamworks, Pixar and any of the other animation studios of today will never touch the quality and imagination of early Disney films. Imaginatively rendered but slightly chilly, this 1951 Disney adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic is also appropriately surreal. Alice (voiced by Kathryn Beaumont) has all the anticipated experiences: shrinking and growing, meeting the White Rabbit, having tea with the Mad Hatter, etc. Characterization is very strong, and the Disney team worked hard to bring screen personality to Carroll's eccentric creations. There's the three leads, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, playing three resurrected witches who wreak havoc on Salem, Massachusetts, 300 hundred years after they were hung. Fun filled witchy romp!
I have loved this movie ever since my mom took me to see it in the theater when I was 6 years old. Ever since (even after I was allowed to watch actual scary halloween movies) this has been my very favorite movie to put in the DVD player, pop some popcorn and have fun.
Favorite Holloween Movie
I absolutely love the movie Hocus Pocus! It was the first Holloween movie I was ever allowed to see and remains my favorite Holloween movie ever!! I always have it in the Dvd player and always have it playing. I love the whole Salem story line. I even have a black cat I named Binx!

almost perfect
These films look really good cleaned up, only thing George shouldn't of changed/added was the Greedo/Han scene in episode 4, the Han walking over Jabbas tail scene in episode 4, and the change to the end scene in episode 6 at the end where yoda, obi-wan, and anakin are all standing together smiling at luke. Replacing the old darth vader with the actor from episode 3 was just plain out dumb.

my favorite movie is starwars trilogy. it is about the dark side and the good side.It takes place in the future.It is set in space.I liked it because it has action and love. It is also funny and is cool.All people would like the movie because it is about science and space. I give it a thumbs up.

I bought this movie for my son and he likes it. My mother bought it for me when i was a child and for her other grandchildren and we all loved it. this is a must have classic all time movie. you wont be dissapointed!!

4:3 was the original aspect ratio
For those of you who are hesitant to buy this because it says "fullscreen", please know that 4:3 was the original aspect ratio for this film. I wish the DVD box said so. But normally a lot of these movies are animated in full screen and then when they are released in theatres they are matted out so it fits the cinema screen properly. Environmentally friendly animated film with a strong message that doesn't club anyone over the head--but it certainly can't be missed. Zak (voiced by Christian Slater) is a heavy-machine operator whose job is to push over any vegetation in his path. He's shrunken to wee size, however, when Crysta (Samantha Mathis), a fairy of the forest, not only finds him cute but wants him to see the results of his handiwork. They end up battling Hexxus, an evil force imprisoned in a tree, which now wants to destroy all of Ferngully. Robin Williams offers genuine comic relief as a bat named Batty Koda. With our world so much in trouble this "kiddie" movie is still as relevant today as when it was made, even more so...we really should be careful how we treat where we live and this movie reminds me to be aware of what's going on. I loved this movie and even as an adult, it was highly entertaining and thought provoking......

I agree with the last reviewer.When I saw this as a young child, the character of Hexxus scared me too.It really left a fairly permanent impression on my brain.Another such movie that freaked me out was The Secret of NIMH.You should at least watch this movie with your children instead of using it as a babysitter.

Nightmare inducing film for no ages...
When I was a small girl of six, I saw the film Fern Gully in the theater and it scared me sh...uh...poopless!! It was an OK flick up until the horrific smog monster appeared, killing all nature and singing about acid rain and sucking all living creatures dry and spitting them out like spinach!!! This movie traumatized me and gave me nightmares for at least a year or two!! This movie is a nightmare ride and if you REALLY want to show your kids a movie with a message about preserving the environment and living in harmony with nature, you'd be better off with Miyazaki's "Castle in the Sky" than with this film.
