1-0 out of 5 stars tired of being pregnant workout
One of the worst made exersize videos I have ever done.It looks and feels more like home made - balancing camera, side noise and there is NO music.I think it was shot at someones guest house or close to it.The instructor looks over 35 and very tired. not only she gave me zero motivation to complete the workout, I could not resist to feeling sorry for her ,me and any other pregnant woman.Besides, it is not physically challenging at all. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Great workout for the person who knows a little workout move
I just rented this video from Netflix and found that it was exactly what I was looking for in a pregnancy workout video.I am six months pregnant and a lot of the pregnancy workout videos are VERY boring! This one has you moving around on your feet with a wide variety of activities.
4-0 out of 5 stars What I was looking for
I really enjoy the intensity of this workout.I think it's completely possible to keep up with. The warm-up and cool down section are about 7 minutes each. The cardio section is 20 minutes not the 30 minutes in stated in another review. I also have Leisa Hart's pregnancy workout in which I love the dance moves, but it gets really repetitive.Gloria Quinlan puts a lot of variety in the moves so that you don't get bored.I was also pleased that it had a weights section. The weight-lifting segment is intense enough to help you maintain muscle tone without being unsafe for you and your baby.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just What I Needed
I've been using this workout video since my sixth month of pregnancy.I found that it was just what I needed to add a little variety to my work out.She starts with a segment of warming up, then follows with three segments of aerobics and dance moves, and a great cool down. There's also a couple segments that focus on toning arms, legs, and abdominals (all of which are completly safe for you and the baby). The first couple times I used it I was having trouble staying with her dance moves, but by the third time, it was a no brainer. I'm very pleased with the video and would recommend it to anyone that wants to add some variety and excitment to their personal workout routine. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this workout.
My baby is 6 months old and I am still trying to get back into shape.I am a swimmer without the time to swim now, and this Pilates video is the only exercise that I've ever found to almost replace swimming. It moves quickly and gets my blood moving, while challenging my abdominal and leg muscles. It is intense but goes so quickly that it's more energizing than draining.I am excited to find a workout that doesn't aggrevate my bad knee and shoulder, and that requires little gear.
2-0 out of 5 stars Good Pilates, but not tailored for post-pregnancy
This video is perfectly good as a normal Pilates workout, but it does not seem to be tailored at all for after pregnancy.Melinda does not suggest any variations for women with abdominal wall separation or C-section (though there is a small section at the end of the video of exercises that can be done in bed after a C-section, the one pregnancy-oriented section of the video). The primary workout seems quite rigorous for immediately post-birth, especially with no modifications suggested. The intro says that this workout should not be done until at least 4-6 weeks postpartum, which makes sense given its rigor. But then the cover shows a perfectly skinny Melinda, with the headline, "Look at her now!... Just 8 weeks after Melinda gave birth..."Has perfectly skinny, toned Melinda really only been doing her workout for two weeks?I was looking for a video which would show me a gradual way back to fitness, with appropriate modifications, and this video does not do it at all.I began my pregnancy extremely strong (I'm a professional dancer), but I have abdominal wall separation, and I need a sensible, gradual way to get my strength back, not a full-on Pilates workout with a video cover that claims that a perfect body can be had in a couple of weeks after recovery.

5-0 out of 5 stars Melinda Bryan Knows Her Stuff!!
This video is amazing and works immediately!I was not a workout fanatic after I had my baby and was hoping the pounds and inches would fall off by themselves. It didn't happen, so I tried this video-under 20 minutes, no sweating, and only 3 times a week!I found it to work after only 4 times.BEWARE-it is doing more than you think, and I even overdid it one time. Thanks Melinda!I feel and look great! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Okay, at least it gets me moving
I bought this tape at a thrift store ... it's pretty good. The music is outdated, but the moves are very basic. As a former water aerobics teacher I was able to follow along easily, but she does not explain or demonstrate more complex moves. Also, she doesn't always "talk you through it"; you see that she has changed only by watching closely. But, I do like that the women shown are at different stages of pregnancy and they do look like real people. Also, I find the stretching and floor work extremely relaxing. Would I have paid full price? Probably not, but if it were updated with new music I would consider another one....it helps me get moving and I do feel better than when I wasn't exercising.

3-0 out of 5 stars Low impact workout
This video provides a very low impact work-out that would be good for those who didn't really exercise before pregnacy, but are looking for something to meet the Dr.'s requirement to get moving now.If you are already in shape this video is boring and does not bring you to break the slightest sweat. The moves are repetative and require very little of you.It is better than nothing, but I prefer other video's I've tried.

4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable workout
I have tried several prenatal workout videos, and this was one that I was able to repeat on a regular basis. The aerobics section was easy to follow, andkeeps me in relatively good shape without making me feel exhausted. It is definitely not as cheesy as Denise Austin's video and the women who are in the video actually look pregnant. The toning could stand to be a little more difficult;I like supplementing the floorwork/toning part of the video with the Buns of Steel 8 toning section. ... Editorial Review

This prenatal and postnatal workout was originally issued in 1983--the products of those pregnant bellies are probably doing their own workouts by now. Although most of the workout itself is still appropriate, you'll want to update the way you do it. For example, Fonda and her participants work out barefoot (with those ubiquitous legwarmers that were popular at the time). Please wear shoes for stability. And they warm up by standing still, knees locked, doing an endless series of arm movements that do little but tire the shoulders. (We know now that rhythmic movement that gets the whole body warmed up is more effective than standing still and isolating one body part.) This video offers a 45-minute workout that is suitable for pregnant women and new mothers, plus 20 extra minutes for postnatal exercisers only, and a 20-minute segment about birth, baby massage, and infant care. Despite the generous length of this video, you might get more out of a more up-to-date pregnancy workout that reflects current recommendations and guidelines. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars never done it
I have never been pregnant before, so I have never done this video, but I have watched it. My mom has done it before and she didn't like it. It looks okay, but it is almost as if Jane Fonda thought that as long as there were not any aerobics and no ab work, it would be perfect for pregnant women. First there is a workout for pregnant womwn and women recovering from pregnancy. Then there is an extra floor workout for women recovering from a pregnancy. Then a women named Femmy DeLyser shows you birthing tips and at the end of the video there is a section on baby care.

2-0 out of 5 stars Boring and slow
I find this workout to be boring, slow, and uninspiring.I used it with my first pregnancy eight years ago and recently tried to exercise with it.It is old and outdated. The newer videos for pregnancy workout feature a fun aerobics segment which this workout omits. Some of the techniques in the exercises do not match what is said on the newer videos today. The newer videos I have found state that they conform with the Guildlines of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.I feel safer performing movements that have been deemed okay for pregnant women. Also, in the videos I have, the instructors are pregnant themselves.I highly recommend the Kathy Smith Pregnancy workout along with the Buns of Steel Pregnancy workout.5-0 out of 5 stars A good class!
This class is an excellent workout for new mothers and mothers to be.What's also great is that this class can be used simply by others lookingfor a different, less strenuous workout routine. However, this class is not a piece ofcake. It can be very vigorous to those who are not accustomed to JaneFonda's style, especially since the style of this video very closelyresembles her earlier tapes, like the original Workout and the New Workout. The exercises are almost exact matches with minor variations them slightlyeasier. While no exerciseclass should be easy enough to be able to smoothly do the first time or twoaround, this can push it a little. The stretches require you to be limbersomewhat, and the added recovery section might as well be a mix of her"Easy Going Workout" (old title-"Prime Time Workout")and her original. This tape, though, can be very effective if users implement their ownstyles and improvements to meet their exercise needs. Not only mothers canbenefit from this program. If people, both men and women, desire an easierclass to get into shape, without the use of aerobics (let alone shoes forthis class), this can be a very nice change of pace. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Postnatal workout
I love, love, love this postnatal workout.Too bad I'm moving on to other workouts now that I feel back in shape. This video has it all for getting back in shape gently after giving birth. Some of the exercizes/stretches can be done as soon as you feel like it, while others you would want to work into as you recover. This tape progresses nicely from very easy stretches and poses, to more intense poses. There are modifications for all fitness levels and the instructions are clear. The exercizes are geared to target the exact muscles that need to be toned and strengthened after childbirth. This is an effective workout without being strenuous or exhausting (after all, who really feels like a strenuous workout after a few hours of sleep?)

1-0 out of 5 stars boring, instructor is not good, she's dull as is the video
Shiva was bad in her prenatal video and i think even worse in this video, she is boring, not uplifting and very plain. I do not like this yoga at all, other yoga is so much better, she is not a good video instructor at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great postpartum video
The people at Yoga Journal and Shiva Rea have done it again! I really love this workout. There are three stages to the workout with an appendix of basic stretches at the end that you can perform daily when you have a few minutes. The first stage can be done the day after giving birth- it consists of kegels, pelvic tilts, simple stretches, and relaxation. The second stage is sitting poses, and the third is standing postures. There are modifications demonstrated for women in various stages of postpartum and different fitness levels throughout the workout. I found it a great way to ease back into yoga, and highly recommend the video. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The only pregnancy workout dvd you'll need!
This is by far the best! Honestly, do not buy any other pregnancy workout dvd. I've tried them all, this is the only one you'll need!
5-0 out of 5 stars Great strength/toning workout!
This is a great strength building and toning workout. The instructions are clear and concise with different levels of endurance & intensity. This is great to use alternatively between areobic workouts. There are also special exercises to help you prepare for childbirth (kegels) added into the workout at different points.I like this because I easily forget to do these kinds of exercises daily and this is a nice way to fit them in.Many of the exercises remind me of ballet bar class (another great way to shape & tone). As a trained dancer and active mommy to be I highly recommend this workout.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally a Challenging Pregnancy DVD!
