    5-0 out of 5 stars That's Fronkenstein...
I first saw this movie when I was 10 years old...yeah, I know...I was probably too young to see this movie but I really didn't get the "racy" parts until I was much older...like 10 1/2...
5-0 out of 5 stars This version is the one to buy....
If you have a widescreen TV, this is the version you must purchase. Unlike the previous "Special Edition" version, this new release is ANAMORPHIC widescreen, finally for the first time and it looks great on my new 32 inch Sony HDTV. The only downside is no sound upgrade, just MONO. The extras are the same as the previous edition. Anyway it is cheap and worth every penny for the new anamorphic transfer.
4-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious Movie but...
I love Young Frankenstein. However, I was very disappointed when I realized that this re-release of it only had "mono" audio tracks. This is very disappointing because I would have loved to hear it in Dolby Surround. I am actually rather confused as to why they re-released it, because it has the exact same content as the previous DVD release... possibly a marketing ploy, I dunno.Let me also make clear that THE MOVIE IS A 5 STAR MOVIE BUT THE RE-RELEASE WAS THE REASON FOR THE 4 STAR RATING. Basicly, if you already have the "Special Edition" (earlier DVD release) you may as well save your money; they're exactly the same. However, if you have never seen this movie, I suggest you do yourself a favor and buy this movie. Definately won't disappoint fans of comedy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The funniest movie ever made
A movie demonstrates comic talent when it generates laughs during the first viewing. A movie demonstrates comic genius when you're laughing during the forty-first viewing. After watching it four times on TV and at least once a year since getting the tape in 1985, I am still holding my sides.
5-0 out of 5 stars I've gone "Cold Turkey" DVD-less long enough
A hidden gem from the early 70's, funnier by far than all the TV sitcoms and "comedy" films rleased week after week. My favorite scene among many fine ones is where town-drunk Tom Poston delivers a hiarious, whacked-out anatomy lesson describing how if he stops smoking it will inevitably lead to his head falling off. So the civic leaders convince him to leave town for a while, at least until they win their money. With all Norman Lear's Hollywood clout you'd think he'd have convinced Universal to release it on DVD by now. I think there's a big-enough niche market waiting for it to justify its release.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fond memories of this!
I'm shocked that this movie isn't more available.I was quite young when I saw it and didn't recognize most of the names that would be more familiar to me now, but I still found it to be bitingly funny satire, and there are scenes in it that I've never forgotten.Get rid of a few of the clunkers that keep getting reissued and make room for this little gem. ... DONT listen to that silly man " a viewer" He doesnt know a thing. You can watch this extrodinary film on DVD and reap the hearty rewards of laughter and happiness. Or you can watch a VHS and dial up the internet while you toast your snax on a fire. In other words....The dvd is far better then any old VHS. This DVD is the best. Just believe me. You will thank me later. And see Spamalot too.

With all the deadly serious movies about the grail out there these days it's good to once again watch a movie that treats the subject with a sense of humor.
    5-0 out of 5 stars A Newt?
One of my favorite comedies, and Monty Python's best and most irreverent movie is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The Monty Python troop made three films and had a television series that challenged the status quo by dealing with religion, class welfare, politics and dead parrots. There humor seems as fresh and rebellious today as when it was aired. Sometimes their humor was forced -- some scenes in The Meaning of Lif(e) ; however, Monty Python and the Holy Grail has the perfect mix of antitoletarism, irreverence and silly sots.

I remember back in the early 1990s of a show called Mystery Science Theater 3000. My parents occasionally watched it...but I got hooked at age 9. Strangely enough, the jokes didn't totally whiz over my head and I was able to enjoy Joel (when he was there...mostly reruns), Mike (who I saw mostly), Servo, and Crow. Now I never got so see the movie in theaters (due to young age and I didn't even know there was a movie until I saw a commercial for the VHS!). Once it was on TV I watched, I laughed, I even recorded onto a VHS myself and viewed at leisure. Now, I'm 21 and am hoping to get the DVDs so I can enjoy like I used to (with more understanding to the jokes...and I see this price tag for USED copies of the movie on DVD. I understand it's out of print, but I think it's best to shop around.

When I was younger, my parents would watch MST3000 a lot (back when it was still on Sci-Fi). I didn't understand the movie humor, but I liked looking at the goofy monsters and I thought the robots were pretty funny.

I bought this movie, because a family member had seen it years ago and liked it.I watched it once and it was very funny there were several sexual referances in the movie coming from Ann-Margret but you can tell that by the cover.Funny as is was, at timesyou felt like you were watching the same things over and over again.I wouldn't watch it with young children.

Hes dressed in black from boots to hat and and hes twirling double iron . His name is "Cactus Jack" slater and hes THE VILLAIN . Ride along with a horse named Whisky and an allstar cast featuring Paul Lynde (1926-1982) as THE VILLAIN plots to outsmart handsome with slapstick determination . A raucous western spoof that proves you cant judge a cowboy by the color of his hat . High Quality Transfer . Recommended

5-0 out of 5 stars You would enjoy this movie if. . .
If you like good clean humor, you will love this movie. It is so funny and also entertaining. It's about a cowboy and his horse, and the horse almost talks. It's also about a seven shot, six-shooter (can you believe it). It comes in handy at just the right time. It's also about a naive cowboy, who does dumb things and doesn't even know they're dumb. So, for an entertaining time, purchase this dvd. It's well worth the money, and the time spent watching it. I'm sure you'll love it as much as we did. Happpy watching!!!!!!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars If you liked SCARY MOVIE ....
I saw this movie 20 years ago and thought it was hilarious. It drags in parts and gets a little wierd at the end but if you've watched the older horror classics, e.g. Halloween, Carrie, you'll appreciate the jokes and humor. This movie was the prequel to movies like Scream and Scary movie.
4-0 out of 5 stars over the top cheesy, bizarre
this one is actually a guilty pleasure of mine and certainly not for everyone. you really have to be into 80s horror comedy cheese to even slightly appreciate what this film offers. its kinda a horror spoof intended to scare children a bit while being a bizarre comedy for adults. you realize right from the beginning that this movie is not intended to rival The exorcist or win academy awards. just a fun movie for fans of 80s cheese. I find the fathers sarcastic wit and negligence hysterical. The scene at the end when van helsig goes against the vampires for the bookof evil is classic horror comedy. totally over the top, cheesy , and nonsensical all the through. The daughters bath scene is mandatory and she looks quite nice semi nude as well. Nice shots of her legs and cute feet hanging out of bath tub. good movie for hardcore cheese lovers only.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cute!
Okay Saturday the 14th is not the funniest comedy movie ever made but I still liked it. It's just a cute enjoyable movie with some cute humor that satires horror movies and it has a good cast, Richard Benjamin and Paula Prentiss play a husband and wife and are married in real life and they were good in the movie as was Kari Michaelsen who is probaly best known as playing Katie, the eldest daughter in the sitcom Give Me A Break and underrated character actor Jeffrey Tambor was good too. 5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Special Movie
"Who Framed Roger Rabbit" is quite simply a most magical filmmaking experience. It's a film that is truly brilliant in every way imaginable. From its plot, a brilliant homage to the great film noir thrillers of the 1940s', to the fantastic visuals, still impressive even today, to its smart, funny, fast paced script, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" is a truly timeless piece of cinema.

5-0 out of 5 stars Four Oscars!
Well-deserved Oscars for Editing, Visual Effects, Sound Effects Editing, and Special Achievement (animation direction) recommend this delightful film, which combines live action and animation before CGI came into regular use.Watch for the beautifully realized details throughout. For example, the Toons have shadows, and when one is thrown against a venetian blind, it bends and makes the sound of somebody actually hitting a venetian blind. The interaction between live action and animation is so good, you quickly forget they're not really together at all -- and much of the credit for such realistic "interaction" must go to live actor Bob Hoskins. There are a load of extras in this 2-disc package, including both fullscreen and widescreen versions, audio commentary, a deleted scene, and a very interesting "before and after" split-screen comparison with and without animation. This is a technical masterpiece and well worth seeing again and again. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest
In our house, this is one of the all-time favourite movies. *Everyone* is perfectly cast, the style constantly changes (on-stage, off-stage, fantasy projections of how numbers could be staged...) and it manages to be convincing as a small-time theatre production while at the same time being colourful and imaginative. Covent Garden could learn a thing or two about staging from this movie. This is Ken Russell's greatest movie. We want a DVD!

5-0 out of 5 stars TAGLINE SAYS IT ALL
"A Glittering Super Colossal Heart Warming Toe-Tapping Continuously Delightful Musical Extravaganza"

4-0 out of 5 stars Fluffy, silly, ridiculous, and I love it!
I have one copy of this tape and I guess I'd better get a backup -- doesn't look like it's coming out on DVD anytime soon and I'm gonna wear the poor thing out! It is a perfect portrayal of a bunch of wannabes who definitely will never-be... OK, except Tommy Tune who's probably just too good to perform as barely adequate. Christopher Gable likewise performs like a pro. (Is that perhaps a failing in this particular flick, which is all about a bunch of folks who aren't really that great?) Twiggy is perfectly cast. She's delightfully amateur as a singer; she's so likable, such an underdog, so frightened, how can she not be a sympathetic character? Even the awkward edits, which would be unforgivable in a more serious film, are perfect amateur glitches here (watch the jumpy splices in the "Perfect Young Ladies" number--really horrible, but just exactly the right thing to leave in on this movie). My favorite over-the-top silly bit is Polly's extended Grecian nymph fantasy. Tommy Tune leading the chorus of nymphs off to save the day is hysterical. And the whole thing takes place in the space of time it takes for Polly to make quick eye contact with Tony offstage... and ends when he winks back at her. Two seconds of real time. What girl hasn't had an extended fantasy compressed into a few seconds? It's all so cheerfully, delightfully cheesy. Not a guy's film. It's a chick flick. Perfect for the end of a really yucky day: curl up with your Teddy bear and something chocolate, plug this movie in, and enjoy the ride. It asks nothing of you, just happily delivers a series of giggles and a Yay! at the end. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hollywood wishes he could make a film like this today....
Despite the fact that this film is over 70 years old, it is still absolutely hilarious, and one of the greatest comedies ever made. Its pointed satire on war, idiotic government, and idiotic people is still potent, and probably always will be.It is only 70 minutes long, but it has more laughs than 10 modern comedies combined. There are no gross out gags, no idiotic sex jokes, no swearing, no illiterate, oversexed teenagers, just brilliant comedy.Groucho, Chico, Harpo, and even Zeppo rule!

Well, here we are with another wild and hilarious Marx Brothers farce, this time with Groucho taking over a small country and winding up in war with a neighboring one.
5-0 out of 5 stars Undiluted Marxian Madness
If you prefer the Marx Brothers without sappy romantic leads and ponderous musical numbers, look no further than "Duck Soup" (1933). Director Leo McCarey dispenses with the extra baggage and focuses on nonstop anarchy in this classic political satire. Groucho, Harpo, Chico and Zeppo remain a formidable comic machine as they unleash a barrage of one-liners and sight gags -- highlighted by the immortal mirror scene. Members of Congress should be forced to sit through this cinematic masterpiece at least once a year. "Hail Freedonia!" ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This tape is a collector's item.
This tape is more of a "must have" for Jerry Seinfeld fans or diehard SNL fans. For others, you may want to think twice before spending good money on this one. That is only because of the length, a mere 32 minutes (and that includes the video company's opening credits). The comedic skits and comedy bits are very good. I believe this originally aired in 1992, a couple of years BEFORE the TV show "Seinfeld" hit its prime. Jerry's fans will like this tape a lot. Especially the "Superman" sketch and the "game show" sketch (where the contestants answer questions, using Jerry's trademark delivery style). Again, if you're a fan of anything "Seinfeld," grab it while you can. It already seems like a collector's item to me. If you're an SNL fan, be aware that the only skits on this tape (except for the opening bit, before the monologue) are the ones in which Jerry appear. The episode's other skits are not included. For fans of both Seinfeld and SNL, definitely purchase it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Highly enjoyable. Jerry at his Jerry-best.
This is a very enjoyable video if you are a Jerry Seinfeld fan. It starts with a sketch (4.10 minutes) with Phil Hartman playing Clinton and Dana Carvey playing Brown. They are talking about a political debate they are about to have. 4-0 out of 5 stars A real classic - collector's item

1-0 out of 5 stars God Awful piece of junk. Avoid at all costs.
This was one of the worst bad crappy movies I've seen. Al Franken falls flat on his face in this one. I found none of the jokes funny and it was one of those squeeze a buck out of a character SNL movies. Franken is funny on SNL and Stuart actually made me laugh on the show but this movie was travesty of the first rate. Like I said there is good crappy movies which I watch like Plan 9 from Outer Space, Flash Gordon, the Monster Squad, and the like that are bad films but pieces of art that make you laugh and entertain you. This movie was not one of them. If you think I'm some right wing red neck out to get Franken your dead wrong I'm far from it although I do find this up tight new air america Franken annoying though. The point is not his politics but this stupid waste of Hollywood money on this garbage that isn't funny or entertaining at all. In fact half way through it my ex girl friend had to wake me up because my head was starting hurt her shoulder. Forget this movie if you want a good crappy movie watch "Killer Klowns from Outer Space." Trust me its the best thing to do.

    Editorial Review

Mel Brooks's 1981, three-part comedy--set in the Stone Age, the Roman Empire, and the French Revolution--is pure guilty pleasure. Narrated by Orson Welles and featuring a lot of famous faces in guest appearances (beyond the official cast), the film opens well with Sid Caesar playing a caveman, then moves along to the unlikely but somehow hilarious juxtaposition of Caesar's soldiers (the other Caesar, not Sid) with pot humor, and ends on a dumb-funny note in the French bloodbath. This is a take-it-or-leave-it movie, and it works best if you're in a take-it-or-leave-it mood. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars a major turkey!
I am a Mel Brooks fan - I watch Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein at least once a year, and I have seen most of Mel's other films. This one is the worst of the lot, a certifiable stinker, incoherent, self-indulgent, and definitely not funny.I watched the entire film waiting for the laughs to come, but they never did.And after all, this is a Mel Brooks movie - if it's not funny, what is the point?

5-0 out of 5 stars Hilariously funny
This movie is farce to the highest degree from the beginning to man first learning to stand and do other things to Empress Nympho picking her escorts for the evening party to the opinions by the royalty to the plight of the peasants during the French Revolution. This movie is nonstop laughter.

4-0 out of 5 stars HILARIOUS MEL BROOKS COMEDY!!
MEL BROOKS' LOOK AT THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD IS ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS!! IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT, YOU SHOULD DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND WATCH IT! THIS IS A COMEDY CLASSIC, FROM A COMEDY GENIUS!! ... Read more

I found this along with a couple more "Best of" tapes at a local Wal-Mart for only $3.88 each. This tape is great well worth the price.I loved the Clinton sketches.

5-0 out of 5 stars Boy, all of history should be this funny!
Darrell Hammond's "Bill Clinton" and John Goodman's "Linda Tripp" have to stand as two of the funniest comic performances even done on the long-running television show.4-0 out of 5 stars It was alright.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious! Stellar Cast & One of Candy's Best!
Although somewhat dated, this is a hilarious film and one of John Candy's best. It is nonstop, madcap humor and slapstick with some funny sexual situations thrown in for good measure. Who can forget the twisted "Father Knows Best" sequences shown to brainwash John Candy's character against his father-in-law Ed Reese? Another memorable and hilarious character is Mohammed Jerome Willy, outlaw, who meets a rather unusual but stimulating demise.
5-0 out of 5 stars hello
I have heard good things about this movie... Yes please make a DVD! Why not make a DVD collection on one DVD? How about that? There is a huge market for old comedy movies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Marvellous comedy. Hilarious.Where's the DVD???
This early John Candy masterpiece is two hours of solid laughter.Ignore the silly plot. The main character (Candy) just goes from one improbable situation to a more improbable one.And they're well-written: You can't really predict what will happen (at least, not the first viewing...).If you like SNL, then this is the equivalent of two hours of SNL-like skits. You just keep laughing.John Candy is magnificent. ... Read more

So you love Leslie Neilson, and you can't get enough of the movie Airplane or mafia. Here's your next step. This movies kicks out the physical comedy like Steve Martin drunk on New Years Eve.A must watch for stupid spoof movie fans.

If you get Python, it is freakin' great. Laugh harder every time I watch it, especially if I have had a bad day.

1-0 out of 5 stars No Subtitles or Close Captioning
Despite the fact that this is an awesome and humorous movie (The best monty python ever made). This gets a 1 from me for having no subtitles or close captioning since I am hard of hearing. Are there any versions with subtitles??

5-0 out of 5 stars What Have The Romans Ever Done For Us
John Cleese once said that this film is what he'd most like to be remembered for, which coming from a man who wrote some of the best Python sketches and Fawlty Towers, should tell you something about how good this film is.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
I think that this is the best Pink Panther film that I've seen. Although I've only seen this one, A Shot In The Dark, and The Pink Panther {2006}. This film has incredible slapstick comedy by Peter Sellers. Starring Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau, David Niven as Sir Charles Lytton, Robert Wagner as George Lytton, Capucine as Simone Clouseau, Brenda De Banzie as Angela Dunning, Colin Gordon as Tucker,Claudia Cardinale as Princess Dala, and The Pink Panther as himself. I can't wait to see the other ones. Well, that was my review.
5-0 out of 5 stars His Kind of Woman
Recently, from film noirs, You released the move "His Kind of Woman" with Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell. This movie I have been waiting to buy for many years. It is one of the best Adventure movie I have enjoyed very much. I recomend it to all ages. Robert Mitchum at his best.
5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful comedy classic
Blake Edwards' THE PINK PANTHER has held up well over the years. It is, of course, the start of one of the funniest and most popular comedy series of all time. However, while the subsequent films focus on the antics of bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Peter Sellers), Clouseau is almost a supporting character in this film. Most of the focus is placed on Sir Charles Lytton (David Niven), an irresistible middle-aged bachelor who is secretly "The Phantom", a world-famous jewel thief. He decides to steal the Pink Panther diamond, the most valuable jewel in all the world.

After 15 years of hit movies for Universal Studios, Bud Abbott and LouCostello left the studio in the twilight of their partnership with the last oftheir monster comedies. Decked out in desert safari gear, the boys go lookingfor a job with an Egyptologist and wind up in the middle of a conspiracyconcerning the murdered professor, an ancient mummy, and a magical medallionthat, true to form, bumbling Costello manages to eat for dinner. Marie Windsor, the boss lady of a gang of treasure hunting crooks, dresses in a harem outfit tovamp for our chubby little hero, and the eternally stiff Richard Deaconhilariously plays the leader of an Egyptian mummy cult like a high schoolprincipal decked out for Halloween. Directed by longtime collaborator CharlesLamont, it's a typical Abbott and Costello farce w
