Dorf is THE MAN!
While many people may find this video "stupid" and a waste of money, a true fisherman (or woman) will appreciate the humor in this video.Tim Conway portrays the sport of fishing in a quirky and entertaining manner, that would put a smile on anyone's face.I enjoy it more and more every time I watch it, and I've watched it about a million times.IT'S HILLARIOUS!

Not the best of Dorf
Our family is a fan of Tim Conway's Dorf. We enjoyed this movie, but not nearly as well as his others. This one has some great scenes, but they are countered with scenes that tend to repeat the same gag a bit too much. Someof the content seems to try too hard to be funny, and some just is notfunny. We did not find the name calling and spouse fighting worth a repeatwatch. If you desire a complete set of Dorf videos, you should add this toyour collection. the ferocity of nature
Anyone who thought chimps were vegetarians will be aghast to see a pack of them hunting down a cute black and white colobus monkey in a very systematic manner, and tearing it to pieces as it screams; it is disturbing to watch this "mob violence and blood lust" as writer and host David Attenborough puts it, but fascinating in its truth of the natural world, which juxtaposes the most cruel violence with beauty; in no scene is this more evident than with a whale off the coast of Argentina, mercilessly playing with its catch, and doing so with such grace, flipping the seal in the air with its tail in a dance of death.

Worth every penny
This is a very enjoyable documentary. Ordinarily, I don't watch movies a second time. But this one is so good, I purchased it. This film follows two surfers from 1960s America as they travel around the world in search of the perfect wave. They are gentlemen. It is interesting to see the world welcome them -- Americans from a kinder, much less-vulgar era. Even though it is now forty years old, the production value is high. The soundtrack, commentary, and beautiful scenery all contribute to a very well-made film. Forty years later, people continue to buy this movie.

surfing history
This review gets 4 stars for the surfing enthusiast.A documentary about the history and birth of surfing.Focusing much of the film on the older days of surfing & the evolution of the surfboard.Does include some contemporary surfing but not enough for 5 stars.I found that the history told in this film is enlightening.Only a surfer or surfing enthusiast would give this film 4 stars otherwise the rating is about 2 or 3 stars.Don't expect to see a lot of contempoary footage because there isn't much of it.

Get for loved ones
This is a really great movie.I suggest you buy it for loved ones, just anybody that missed it on PBS.I happened to see it on PBS and am sure it will play again as a re-run but if you want an all around complete history of surfing, this is the best you will find.Nothing better to do than watch a surf video about the history of surfing.If you love old school surfing (Longboarding) or have been swept into the summer lul use this video to get you amped before a session.Cause we all know to surf often you have to longboard most of the summer.

Veteran ski instructor Lito Tejada-Flores offers an hour filled with intense and detailed lessons designed to move skiers past what he calls "intermediate rut." Making the point that moving from being an intermediate to an expert skier isn't so much an advance in levels but rather learning an entirely new set of skills, Tejada-Flores zeroes in on what those elusive skills are. Much of the focus is on learning to turn properly, and the camera follows expert skiers who show the "proper arc of the turn." Drills are shown during which students are urged to visualize skiing on one foot to get the idea in their head that the "outside ski" during a turn has to handle all the action. The camera work is very good throughout, with much of the action shown in close-ups on the feet.Slow-motion footage is used judiciously to show precisely how a skier should position himself when making perfect turns. The lessons in this video contain a wealth of detail, yet it's presented in a manner that would make it easy to remember, and putting the lessons to work out on the slopes would no doubt be a good way to increase one's skill level. Out of this world
My wife and I are intermediate skiers who began skiing a couple of years ago. Our first ski was where we were told that 'the wedge' is the ONE and ONLY way to go. After two years we were still stuck with the wedge even down the intermediate slopes. True, the wedge idea got us going, but we were unable to get ouf that rut... unitl we bought this DVD. This is such a wonderful video that I bet it is better than any class out there. The booklet that is attached on the DVD conver summarizes all the lessons. The lessons themselves, are not difficult to memorize as they are all about building your foundations. We improved dramatically overnight. I got the other two videos too. Can't wait to see and learn from them. Good bye Wedge.. and all you ski schools out there...!

Breakthrough on skis
The best introductory ski video with no equal.I'm an almost an advance skier, but I still watch it before every ski season.

Excellent training video
I hadn't skiied in 5 years and being older now, wanted to "do it right" this time.I thought about taking a lesson, but I remembered never getting much out of them.After reading other customer reviews about this video, I bought it and I couldn't be happier.No snow plows or wedge christie's here.I studied the video, studiously followed Lito's directions in the accompanying concise booklet and video, and made tremendous progress on the first day on the slopes.I am skiing parallel for the first time in my life and I fully believe in Lito's "one-legged" skiing system.I am amazed at how confident I feel on the slopes because of his techniques.This video is VERY worth the money.I also do the exercises and stretches in a small book called Ski Flex, a very good book with ski-specific exercises in it. ... Hunt for a Better Video!
I am always a little suspicious when I pop a new video in the VCR and it doesn't track correctly.I was also wondering why it appeared there was only a few feet of tape wound in the cassette.The reason?This video is recorded in "extended play"! Yup, you pay good money and receive an extremely poor-quality tape.But that's just the physical side of things. The content is even worse.This production can be considered nothing less than a complete joke. Although some knowledge about hunting whitetail deer is provided (nothing beyond the very basics), the majority of the tape is a poorly-acted self-narrative of a couple guys out in the field supposedly hunting whitetail deer.There is one scene of an actual kill, but the script, photography, and hype of the entire tape are so cheesy as to be laughable.As a matter of fact, I would be laughing right now, except for the fact I paid $... plus shipping to receive this ridiculous piece of garbage. One example: the last ten minutes of the tape is wasted by a phony self-narrative of one of the hunters supposedly stalking a certain buck he says he has been trying to nail for years. After 10 minutes of plastic lip-service and fake stalking, the hunter finally gets the deer in his scope - and lets him go! That's right - no shot.Why? Probably because it is all fake.Except for the 10-second clip of a whitetail actually getting shot and beginning to fall, I believe all the video of deer is just that - video of deer out in the field (not being hunted). I believe all of the so-called "hunting" was fake play-acting for the benefit of the camera.My recommendation? Hunt for a better video. I would offer mine for sale, but I wouldn't feel right about collecting money for something that is a complete waste of time and energy. ... Read more

Great fundamentals
I've shot trap for a few years, but I learned several things from this video, e.g., gun movement, sight lines, eye points, etc. It would have been useful for the instructor to show how a left-hand shooter like myself would stand and where they would point, but this is left up to the left-hander to extrapolate. Still, this tape should help beginners learn the basics and may help experienced shooters improve their scores.

Good.Typical Warren Miller flick.
I enjoyed this film.Although it would be better if there are less really close-up slow motion shots and more medium range shots so I can what the riders are doing and where they are going.Snowriders 2 have more up close scenes in slow motion than other Miller films I saw, and that is more distracting than anything.Imagine watching up close Pamela Anderson Lee runsin her bathing suit in slow motion for 90 minutes. After a while, it gets tiresome. The best video ever!
This is by far the best ski/snowboarding film ever I saw this film for the first time on may 9th and right away took a two week snowboarding trip to Nepal. A must see for anyone who has ever heard of the white stuff we callsnow!

As addictive as mahjong itself.
I love this documentary.I play it whenever I need a laugh. It is short -- the cinematography is terrible, but the editing is brilliant.The participants are hilarious and their stories are universally touching.This is one for the Smithsonian.

As a trout fishing guide who also offers fly fishing lessons, I ordered this DVD to make sure I was covering all the bases with my clients and students.I can't imagine how many hundreds (or perhaps thousands) of students Joan Wulff has taught over the years, but she has a system of instruction that is second to none.I will sometimes want to pull my hair out, because I can't find the right words to help a client improve a specific cast.Joan has figured out great teaching methods by having her students turn their casts on their side, attaching make-shift handles to fly rods, casting yarn, and so on, to get her students to that "aha!" moment when it all clicks for them.

Sailing with confidence is an easy to understand sailing video that gives you the essentials of sailing. It is divided into 30 minute sections which makes it easy to come back to or to watch it at your own pace. Bud Foulkedoes an excellent job teaching in an easy to understand vocabulary.
