Wonderful music, Incredibly talented musicians playing beautifully, and yet still having fun as they played, a conductor who puts down his baton to play a violin version of battling banjos with the lead violinist, Yanni offering a few words of his life philosophy. This is a definite 5.Kim Abbey
3-0 out of 5 stars AV Suffers
I have owned and loved the cd for a while now, so I decided to try the dvd to get it in DD5.1.I consider myself really into audio, I have 3 Boston Acoustics VR3s across the front, Ascend Acoustics 340s for surrounds, and custom built subwoofers - all calibrated.Long story short, this dvd just reaffirmed to me why I stick to 2 channel stereo for my music listening.I find that much of the clarity, detail, and impact present on the cd just isn't here on the dvd.Clearly more work was put into mastering the cd.As another member stated, they really cooked the left surround channel on this disc, I had to turn it down quite a bit. Also, the video is full frame and pretty soft, but I wasn't expecting much on the video side to begin with.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!!!
Wow!!! The only word that comes to my mind when I think about this concert. Its simply amazing. If you are trying to refine your musical taste, then here is the music which you should listen and watch. Violin, Cello,Bass, Percussion, Drums, all sorts of Wind instruments, synthesizer, Grand Piano, harpischord and what else would you need for an orchestra. I think nothing else. This music will elate your mind. Also listen to Yanni's words, he has some philosophical lessons for you. This is and will remain Yanni's best ever live concert. No doubt many people have called it a masterpiece. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Computer Animated Visuals !
The Mind's Eye is my favorite and most prized CG animated videotape of all time---it was my first of it's kind. There were other computer artists and animators who jumped on the bandwagon with their releases at the time of this new emerging video trend.Quite often the results were rather crude and archaic looking with bad visual and audio editing techniques. Many used a cheap Casio keyboard production for soundtrack music. They released poor imitations that were absolutely nothing like this collection. The competition just couldn't hold a candle to the Mind's Eye...
5-0 out of 5 stars The past, present, and future storyof civilization
This video, while famous for its compilation of then ground-breaking CGI, is really most interesting for the story that it tells. The sequence of the segments ambitiously chronicles the the formation of Earth ("Creation"), the rise of human civilizations ("Civilization Rising"), the technological advances of humanity from the advent of agriculture to the future exploration of the cosmos. The video speculatively concluded with a segment of what might be the next sentient species to arise on Earth (birds?).
4-0 out of 5 stars reply, where did they go?
This is the video that got me hooked on computer animation years ago.It was released in two versions, 1 in general video stores released by BMG video and another in Radio Shack stores, they are about 70% the same but the rest is very different. Some clips share the music and titles but the images were totally different. The R.S. version was custom made for them, and yes 8th track (the temple) was replaced with (Q factor) (Tingri) (The way I feel).Yes 3 for 1!The seperate music CD features the original 8 tracks by James Renolds.By the way - the next 2 videos in the series also had sepererate R. S. versions, although not as drastic a difference as this first one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Moving and Haunting Collection of Music Videos
This VHS tape is comprised of five music videos each extraordinary in their own right. "Evening Falls" is a pensive almost despairing thought-provoking piece. Almost conventional is "Storms Of Africa" editing landscapes and animals in their natural habitat. "Caribbean Blue" is very imaginative and innovative as a boy becomes part of the text he is viewing. It flows beautifully and is very melodic. The energetic "Orinoco Flow" is a collage of moving images and impressions that are very emotive. My favorite is "Exile" as it edits scenes of Steve Martin and Victoria Tennant from L.A. STORY with images of Enya. Steve Martin begins and concludes this video with meditative words on the ethereal nature of love and how love manifests itself in so many ways. "Exile" is a well-constructed and moving video.
5-0 out of 5 stars Poetry in motion...
The music of Enya has mesmerised and captivated me since I first discovered it as support music for the BBC series The Celts and as backdrop music for the movie L.A. Story. The combination of vocal effects and modern recording techniques has produced a wonderfully rich, almost mystical sound. Her patience (one song on the Shepherd Moons CD has over 500 overdubs!) and skill are evident throughout each song on each of her CDs. This quality is not lacking on the video.5-0 out of 5 stars Lovely collection of images from Enya
All but one of Enya's first five videos are taken from the Watermark album, the sole exception being "Caribbean Blue" from Shepherd's Moon. This is unusual, considering how the video sleeve is of a similar motif to Shepherd's Moon. It's this collection that demonstrates how music videos should be made! And what a voice!Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Kodo Drummers of Japan
CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS TAPE. I watch it at least three times a week and play it for everyone who comes in the house. Most people love it also. It is to be enjoyed the best when hooked up to a good sound system.

5-0 out of 5 stars The next best thing to being there.
My only complaint about "Live at the Acropolis" is that it's not available on DVD.Having seen Kodo live in 1999, I feel the tape does a good job of capturing the "feel" of their performance.Even my toddler is transfixed. If you can see a live performance, do-- and sit as close as you can so you can watch their faces (many of which I recognize on the tape).

5-0 out of 5 stars Totally Stupendous
I saw this video in my Japanese class and it was totally awesome how these talented musicians pour themselves into their work. It inspired me to do taiko drumming as a part of our japanese club. If they were this amazing on video I'm sure they are so much more so live. ... Read more

wish i could have bought it on a cd but3-0 out of 5 stars nice scenery, bad picture quality
There are some great winter scenes here (with some exceptions), but it's clearly a bad VHS transfer. The pictures are extremely grainy on a high def TV.

2-0 out of 5 stars 1985 and Counting
Anyone who is thinking about buying this DVD and assuming that theycleaned up the film, digitally remastered the music and remade theexperience for the Year 2000, think again. The DVD is grainy like a film,(you can actually see a hair(?) in part of an early shot) and was notreally aligned properly with the frame. It is not in 8:5:1 format, so itshows like a television video. In other words, the format of the DVD wasextremely disappointing for the price charged.Read more

Anyone who has an interest in the Renaissance period will enjoy this musical video with it's re-enactment of a Christmas Renaissance feast. It features performers who entertain the table guests, such as jugglers, dancers, and more, all set to old world carols. The music is breathtakingly beautiful, as anyone who loves Mannheim Steamroller can attest to.This is a magnificent production and we watch it every Christmas.I highly recommend it!

    Editorial Review

John Tesh's name is often associated with the notion of bad music. This is an unfortunate and unfair perception since Tesh actually exhibits commendable skills in a little-explored musical niche--the pop-rock instrumental. Those talents are nicely displayed on this audio rendering of his 1995 performance (in the company of the Colorado Symphony) at suburban Denver's Red Rocks Amphitheater. Influenced by old-line progressive acts such as Rush and Yes, Tesh specializes in creating instrumental tempests in pop-music teacups, framing his favorite themes--optimism, romance, and triumph--with anticipation-building preludes and melodic, high-octane crescendos. Among many flavorful selections, his best include the engaging dual melodies that adorn "Garden City" and the chest-swelling progression of "A Thousand Summers." The music works here better than it does on the video shown on PBS, since you don't have to watch all the mugging and choreographed prancing shared by Tesh and his eight backup musicians. 1-0 out of 5 stars John Tesh is so Punk
John Tesh is the hardest rockin' rocker! As he rocks he fits in the same Circle as GG.Allin, Septic Death, Amy Grant, Brotha Lynch, 3 inches of Blood, and many others.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!
This music is excellent! I envy Tesh for being able to create such wonderful, original songs. This entire CD is fantastic; each tune really stands out; perfect for road trips. I love it. In particular, tracks 1, 2, 4, and 7 are amazing; my favorite is number 4! Great, great stuff to listen to!!

I was looking for a CD I could workout to (I hate listening to DJ's babble) without getting either distracted by the lyrics, or ending up with a tune in my head all day; this one is it! The concert delivers at least 50 minutes of quick paced, motivational music. This is one you can listen to over and over and not get tired of listening. Wish I could find more like it!! ... This is a great video...unfortunately.. I have only seen it a couple of times and can't seem to find anywhere to purchase it..this is the concert video from the 220 volt (live) album tour. Both the album and video were recorded in saettle WA. This was the first time I've actually seen this band perform on tape...we (TDs' fans) are familiar with all the soundtracks they've done but in this we actually SEE the band playing... For anyone who has never gotten to see this incredible band in person, you should definately find this tape enthralling.. If I had to pick one thing I did not care for it would be, that it is too short. I would have liked to have seen more of the show.Read more

A version of Vivaldi's Four Seasons (and not a bad one), this is marked by some of the most beautiful nature photography I've ever seen, synchronized to the music. The seasons of the year are matched with the sections of themusic, the scenes change with the musical phrases, and even the animalmotions are frequently synched with the beat of the music. This could beprecious/yucky, but it never is.5-0 out of 5 stars just the thing to aesthetically relax and refresh you

5-0 out of 5 stars What a Relaxing Video
I remeber the first time I heard Keiko's music, and ever since then I was hooked. I enjoy shuting off all the lights and poping this tape into the VCR and listen to the tranquil sounds of Keiko and her band. I really recommend this tape if you had a long week and want to do something relaxing for the weekend. So get this tape and while your at it get some of her cds as well. You won't regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Buy
I recommend buying this video very much, even if you do not own one of her CDs. Keiko is an amazing piano player who writes all her music. She has a terrific group playing with her, including her husband. If you are a Keikofan already, then buy it to see her perform her greatest music, which is onthis video. I think it is one of the best music videos I have seen byanyone. I only wish that it was available in DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars An enlightening video
I saw this video for the first time on TV. I was taken by it so much that I bought the video and now own 10 of her CDs. This video is like having a "The Best of Keiko" CD, only you can also see her on stage! Themusic, the performances, the sound quality for a VHS (where is the DVD?)are all good to great. I recommend this video strongly. Here, you cansample her best songs. You will then probably be hooked and want to buy herCDs, which contain slightly different versions of the songs on this video. For example, compare the title song of this video "Light Above theTrees" to the version on the CD "A Drop of Water". Thelatter has a wonderful use of acoustic guitar not present in the video. ... Read more
