3-0 out of 5 stars Another round of shows with the Crocodile Hunter
Somewhat disapointing collection of shows from the Crocodile Hunter TV series, I wish they would make available more of the original episodes on VHS, from which much of this footage was taken from. They are very good documentries in their own right.

    2-0 out of 5 stars Some interesting parts, but . . .
I'd only seen one episode of the show when I purchased the video for myfriend's son (age 12), and that episode was intense, informative andthrilling. With a title that includes "most dangerous" Iexpected more of the same, but the first segment with tiger sharks wasdownright boring.Lots of the same shots, lots of exclamations of wonder, but no real information - for example what were all the smaller fishswimming with the sharks?Baby sharks?Lamprey? The video does improveas it goes along, but with all the "dangerous" bits isolatedSteve seems a bit of a fool and quite the pest to bother the poor animals! My twelve-year-old friend was not enthralled either, so I'd say skip thisone and try one of the others.

    5-0 out of 5 stars .
I'm a huge crocodile hunter fan and this video is a great recap of excite bits from some of the best episodes plus a few things you dind't see on camera. Its got some of the bits from indonesia when 2 komodo dragonschased him down, about a zillion snake bites ( includeing hte infamoustimber ratter day! )< when terri started to fall off the cliff, and tonsmore. TOTALLY worht buying, even ifyorue not a fan per se its worth thewatch. ... Read more

If watching the Crocodile excites you and you are looking for more crocodile action, this is it with a nice history lesson on Steve.
5-0 out of 5 stars Steve is cool.
In this video, learn all about how Steve first became interested in crocodiles and with nature itself. From early family films to the forming of his show on Animal Planet. How Steve's parents formed Australia Zoo which is now runned by Steve and his staff. featured are interviews by Steve, his wife Terri, and his parents; Bob and Lyn Irwin.

4-0 out of 5 stars What a beauty!
Steve Irwin is a man who genuinely enjoys his job (and life) with a passion. Steve's life (all 38 years of it, anyway) is documented in this hour-long Animal Planet video, from catching his first crocodile at thetender age of nine to the recent birth of his daughter Bindi Sue. Steve isbecoming a worldwide celebrity due to the popularity of his show TheCrocodile Hunter that he hosts along with his wife Terri Irwin. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely amazing
I happened to catch this documentary by accident while channel surfing on one of the HD channels and couldn't take my eyes off the screen. This is easily one of the most beautiful and fascinating films I have ever seen.I recommend getting the DVD to watch "the making of" special feature. It is almost more amazing how they made this film.

5-0 out of 5 stars winged
Video was well done. The inflight closeups of the migrating birds was spectcular. Was a bit too long and became boring but not to take away from the quality of the program. The bits and pieces of pollution really struck home. Those parts you do not forget.I had seen parts of the video a another location and decided to purchase my own copy to keep and loan.
5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible Photography
I first saw this on HD Net on my cable channel and had to have a personal copy. The photography is absolutly stunning; extremely sharp focus in very difficult shooting conditions. I think the first question that goes through peoples mind is "How did they get those up close shots?" I was pleasently surprised to find a special feature section on the DVD which gave the entire story of the five year effort to bring this to the screen.

1-0 out of 5 stars Crocodile Dundee he ain't....
I'm editing my review in light of Steve Irwin's tragic death, but not my opinion of him in general. I recall seeing a documentary on his life, and feeling respectful of his genuine enthusiasm and passion for Australian wildlife, but that doesn't change the fact that many of his antics with dangerous animals were highly irresponsible.
5-0 out of 5 stars If you like Crocodiles and Alligators..
If you can't get enough viewing pleasure of seeing these awesome reptiles on film, then this tape is for you. Steve and Terri Irwin recount the many adventures they've had while filming efforts to save the Austrailan Crocodiles both in the zoo and in the wild. They are really trying to safeguard these animales for future generations to enjoy, and this film (produced and directed by John Stainton) shows it all. Buy IT.

5-0 out of 5 stars Crazy!
I have seen only one video more crazy than this one. It was Steve Irwin' rattlesnake tour of the States. This guy is totally crazy! Would you try to catch a croc at night in a brown muddy waters with bare hands? Would you dive to free a croc trapped in a net? Would you provoke a 300 pound croc to attack you and then have fun with it? I doubt it. But Steve does all these things. OK, part of this is just a show, but still... See for yourself... ... Editorial Review

This first movie from the Discovery Channel favorite opens with a plot of international intrigue over a downed satellite, but within four minutes Steve Irwin is belly flopping after a baby croc on the outback floor. Steve and his nerves-of-steel sidekick wife, Terri, are asked to relocate a cattle-chomping crocodile before it's shot by a local rancher. This same reptile happened to swallow the intelligence-gathering device that fell to earth, and so begins the goofball premise of this lark of a movie. The feds believe the Irwins are appropriating their classified info, and the Irwins think they're running from poachers. Quibblers may object to Irwin's frequent interruptions to introduce a bird-eating spider or paw through croc dung, but Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Terrific Epitaph To The Life of the Crocodile Hunter
I only saw Steve Irwin's show a few times.I saw him a few times on the talk show circuit and found him an engaging personality.Unfortunately, I was drawn to this film by Steve's untimely passing.I was hesitant to view it for two reasons.I didn't want to dislike this film.I also didn't want to praise this film effusely because of Steve's death.Fortunately, this is a terrific family film. The best part of the film is that Steve is an engagingly energetic cheerleader for wildlife. Not only is Steve witty but he is incredibly knowledgable about the wild kingdom.I'm not a viewer of the Discovery Channel but I was on the edge of my seat as Steve relates the lifestyles of varied creatures.Steve's wife, Terri, makes for a fetching sidekick. The only drawback to the film are lesser stories about the CIA trying to intercept a missing black box in the Outback and a portly female rancher trying to bag a crocodile whose been devouring her livestock. These story threads, however, are ultimately woven into the story for a satisfying conclusion. If you have reservations about viewing this film because it may make you sad never fear.Ultimately, "Crocodile Hunter-Collision Course" is a celebration of a rich and full life and that will bring on a smile.

4-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful way to remember the legendary Steve Irwin
If you were a fan of the late, great Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, then Collision Course is a must-have for your collection. The movie isn't bad...not the best movie ever, but it's certainly entertaining enough, and if you enjoyed watching Irwin's shows, you'll have fun with this movie. Perhaps the best part is all the special features on the disc. There are several documentaries and deleted scenes that are just terrific and yet another way to immortalize Steve Irwin forever. Kids will no doubt appreciate this film too, and I don't think a single profanity is ever uttered in it. The price Amazon lists it for is decent, but I found mine shockingly enough right after Steve Irwin died in the $5.50 bin at Wal-Mart. Definitely a steal at that price! With Collision Course, you have a wonderful memento of the Steve Irwin we all loved so much. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible!!!
It's a shame that this particular episode didn't make a DVD, because this is one of the most incredible rescues that Australia Zoo has ever undertaken, surpassing even the Bunya Rescue (unfortunately not available for home purchase.)5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Video
This is a great video of Steve rescuing 2 abused crocodiles from East Timour.Buy it or wait 'till it comes on TV again

1-0 out of 5 stars Irresponsible and anything but educational.
I assume this video, and in fact this series, is intended for a young audience interested in learning about nature. I would strongly advise teachers and parents to look elsewhere than in any of the Steve Irwin "Crocodile Hunter" series. As a retired biologist and natural historian, I tell you this man and his colleagues are a menace. This video, "Crocodiles of the Revolution" catches some of the most irreponsible and cruel animal "documentaries" I have seen. Our male co-host is a "showboater" and huckster who cares far more about creating lively footage than in being humane to the animals. It is the handling of the second, male, crocodile that is simply beyond the pale.It is done in an utterly irresponsible fashion, with well over a hundred laughing, excited people around to further render the "croc's" move a semi-donnybrook.Good action scenes, but stupid, dangerous animal handling. The risk here is that young people will think this is a proper way to go about handling and moving animals. There are many other great nature series for kids.To learn >and< be entertained, kids deserve intelligent documentaries just like adults. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful experience for toddlers!
My 15-month-old loves Zoboomafoo. I bought this tape since my PBS channel does not come in very well since I do not have cable. It is excellent. Even better then the TV show since it combines the best parts of 5 seperate shows into one full hour of animal fun. There are over a dozen animals playing on this tape. It is really fun to watch and my girl just loves it. Those Kraft brothers have a lot of energy and seem very happy. Their enthusiasm rubs off on whoever watches them. This is a sure hit for any children who love animals.

    Editorial Review

Are animals closer to humans on an emotional level than generally has been believed? The many scientists, researchers, wildlife photographers, andother animal experts interviewed in this Discovery Channel video answer witha resounding yes. They make their case in this 93-minute documentary, narrated by actress Sigourney Weaver, with stories of despondent dogs, grieving chimps, and lab rats who laugh when tickled. The first half focuseson happy bonds between mother and child, siblings, and animals and humans. The second half delves into the darker subjects of sadness and grief, offering astounding assertions such as elephants secrete a tearlikesubstance when upset and search dogs finding only corpses in theOklahoma City bombing case needed treatment for depression. While the focus is on mammals, mollusks get some air time in the form of octopuses that appear to change color according to their situation. Backing up observations withbrain imaging and genetic testing, the scientists--and this film--make acompelling view for any animal lover. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible Documentary
This documentary is incredible. As a young, athletic guy, it's a testament to this film's integrity that I actually cried.. numerous times.I've seen it twice; one time on a two-part television series and once after renting it from the library.I cried not once but both times. This movie is an emotional rollercoaster.I'll be smiling and laughing at one moment, crying at the next, and intrigued just minutes later. What a wonderful movie.. that's why I'm now buying it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful film, even if the message is obvious.
Despite the fact that I think it's ridiculous to structure a film around the question of whether non-human beings experience emotions (only a species as arrogant and detached from nature as ours could even conceive of such a question), this film was extremely worthwhile. There were some interesting points, for instance: human anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications probably work on dogs because their brains are reasonably similar to ours; and fear is probably "the" universal emotion because it leads to survival-enhancing behavior. The footage on octopi, dogs, sea lions, rhesus monkeys, dolphins, elephants, and wolves, among other species, was beautiful to watch and often incredibly moving. While I'm glad that there is now a body of scientific work on this subject, many of us don't need science to understand that many species experience emotions as we do.Konrad Lorenz, though he was a fine scientist, was probably not relying on research when he said: "The fidelity of a dog is a precious gift demanding no less binding moral responsibilities than the friendship of a human being. The bond with a true dog is as lasting as the ties of this earth can ever be."

5-0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming & Wonderful
I first saw this documentary on the Discovery Channel.I bought it thinking it would be good to have, being as though I'm preparing for veterinary school. As a student of veterinary science, I am proud to say this is one of the greatest pieces in my collection. The subject of animal behavior has always fascinated me, and this documentary was a delicious helping for my always eager appetite. If you love animals, you will love this.Once you watch it, you will see how closely related humans and animals really are, and you'll understand some of their behaviors better. This documentary has proven helpful in research reports and papers, and is an excellent resource for any project.Go get it! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars .
This is a good video.Kinda boring. It shows a cobra spit at Steve without sunglasses.I say wait until this comes on TV again.

1-0 out of 5 stars No way to handle venomous snakes.
Teachers and parents should be advised that Steve Irwin is far more interested in Steve Irwin looking daring than in young peoples' welfare. If North American kids try handling any of our resident deadly snakes the way Irwin does, they'll end up very sick or possibly dead. Even non-venomous snakes should not be handled this way.Of course, the video does not >advocate< children handling snakes in this fashion, (So the distributors of this series could not be sued!) but that is not how a young audience works. 3-0 out of 5 stars Fun & educational but recording is of poor quality
This is a lighthearted, fun and lively video showing the daily care of horses. My two toddlers adore horses, and I couldn't wait to pop this tape in to capture their attention with live action. Though the scenes are authentic and there is much to learn from the animal's characteristics to how to bathe and brush them, the picture quality is so poor that it makes watching it in its entirey a real chore. There is a graininess to the video that doesn't change on smaller screens, so basically you won't enjoy watching along with your kids. The actors in the film deliver their lines in a way that truly seems rehearsed from script, but this won't matter to kids since they speak clearly and in simple to understand language. The music is very sweet too. They also incorporate special needs children in the film, which is a refreshing change. It's just too bad the film company didn't record on a faster speed tape to ensure clarity.

I got this video for my kids to learn more about Horses since I am allergic to them. Both my sons are on the autism spectrum with the non verbal son really enjoying the songs on the video and how they take care of the horses.

Zoboomafoo (pronounced Zah-BOO-mah-foo) is a wildlife series produced specifically for preschoolers. The show features great puppetry, fun songs, guessing games, and amusing animated segments. Hosts Martin and Chris Kratt are two animal-loving brothers who have befriended a lovable Lemur (puppet) named Zoboo and make daily sojourns to visit him in a rustic cabin called Animal Junction. Wild animals are frequent guests at Animal Junction, and Chris, Martin, and Zoboo always have a wealth of information to share about each new visitor. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars AVery Educational video for young kids.
Unlike today's tv shows that only has violence and things not good for small childen, Zaboomafoo is perfect for kids little or big!
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best children's videos
This tape is excellent. We do not get cable so our PBS channel does not come in very good. I got this tape for my 15-month-old. It combines the action parts of 5 shows on baby animals, so it is non-stop fun! There are over a dozen baby animals, whereas a typical show shows only 3 or 4 animals. This tape looks fantastic and sounds great too. The Kraft brothers look younger then on TV, since I guess they used older shows. Still it is just as fun and entertaining. A wonderful fun animal treat for the whole family, but your toddler will enjoy it most as it was intended. Buy this one and you will not be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Zoboo's Little Pals
This tape is typical Chris and Martin. It is great for children and even for adults who love animals.I work with school age children and all kids love it.Their "learning without knowing it" style allows children to have fun and gain knowledge at the same time. Highly recommended!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great children's nature video
Zoboomafoo is one of our family's favorite PBS kids shows. It teaches about animal behavior as well as responsible human behavior toward animals. It is absorbing entertainment for our daughter without being annoying to the parents. While Barney, Dragon Tales, Sesame Street, and others send me fleeing to my bedroom to escape the obnoxious noises and pseudo-music, I actually enjoy watching Zoboomafoo with my daughter.Watching together and talking about what we have seen enhances the educational experience for her as well.We were so disappointed when our PBS station stopped carrying this show, but we are pleased to own three videos of it.We would like to see more of them made available -- we would buy them in heartbeat.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another winner
The Zoboomafoo video series are a big hit in our house - the opening music is enough to get both kids leaping like lemurs!Zoboo himself is like a furry 5 year old - curious and silly, with flashes of brilliant insight. The videos are well done, and are entertaining to adults as well as to kids, even on the "umpteenth" viewing. The information contained in the videos is accurate without being pedantic, and the enviro-friendly messages are not overbearing.Any/all of the videos should be a part of a kids collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars WORE OUT THE OLD TAPE, NEED TO BUY A NEW ONE!
My family loves this tape so much, it was actually worn out. The picture kept getting worse, so I felt it was time to buy a new one. We've bought several of the "Really Wild Animals" videos and found them to be very educational (and Dudley Moore is always funny to listen to), but the "Deep Sea Dive" is definitely a hit in my house.
