3-0 out of 5 stars a slim serving of the Lizard King mystique
The Doors was all about Jim Morrison; it was his throaty voice, a strange grace which was rather like a newborn colt, and his charismatic talent that carried the group to fame, despite the able and sometimes brilliant musicianship of Ray Manzarek (keyboards), Robby Krieger (guitar). and John Densmore (drums).5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Compilation of The Televised Performances
If you love The Doors like I do than this video is an absolute must for your collection. This one includes most if not all of their television appearances including the live performances of "Light My Fire" and "People Are Strange" from the Ed Sullivan Show in 1967. One of my favorite performances is when Jim and the band perform "Love Me Two Times" in black and white from a TV program in Denmark. I really like this performance of the song because in this one Jim mixes the poem of "Texas Radio and The Big Beat" in the middle of the song and it sounds really cool. Another song that I love is "Touch Me" from the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. In this performance the band perform the song with a full orchestra, it sounds very nice. Overall this is a great video and you will enjoy it very much especially if you're a Doors fan and even if you aren't one after seeing this great video you will become one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice Look AtAn Awesome Rock Group.
I'm an 18 year old straight up rock fan.I love this music and it was nice for me to see one of my all-time favorite rock bands perform some of my favorite songs live and the music videos were cool too. I especially liked it because I'll never get the chance to see them in concert any other way. Break on through rocked! It doesn't hurt that Jim was so goodlooking either! Not only that but this group has raw talent and depth that today's teen pop groups can't touch! I'm glad there are videos like this one to bring The Doors to a younger generation. Me and my friends appreciate it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a dazzling show
Reba McEntire is extraordinary in this show that includes 12 songs, lots of costume changes, a couple of comedy skits, and an example of polished showmanship.
5-0 out of 5 stars Reba The Entertainer
When you hear Reba sing on an album, you can hear the emotion in her voice. There is nothing like her, the way she brings a song to life. On tour though, her songs come to life. Visually you receieve another perspective on the song. This is a showcase of Reba's excellent talent as a singer/entertainer. A must have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Riverdance spectacular
This is a show one can watch again and again. The setting, the music and dancing are all superb. Very well done, but not overdone, it is sure to delight anyone who watches it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Riverdance is awesome
This is an outstanding DVD.I highly recommend it.If you have seen Riverdance live you can relive the great moments. If you haven't seen Riverdance live you are in for a real treat with this DVD from the comfort of your own home.

5-0 out of 5 stars More Show!!!!
I really enjoyed this dvd because it had more of the show filmed than in the vhs riverdance - the show. It is a little bit of an annoyance that I have to flip it over in the middle. I definately like Colin Dunne's dancing better than Michael Flateley's, Colin doesn't seem to steal the spotlight away from Jean Butler as much as Michael did. It gets my thumbs up. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful music and scenery, cheesy '70's production
I love the music, the scenery is breathtaking, I adore Florence, and Edward G. Robinson is always fun. However, the titles, the sudden camera zooms, and some really awful choreograhy all glaringly point to the period in which the movie was made.Watch and enjoy, but be ready to flinch.I've got a bad VHS copy, but when is this finally going to be put on DVD?

5-0 out of 5 stars utterly glorious....but WHERE can one find it??
I saw "Song of Norway" as a child in Bombay (now called Mumbai) India, in 70mm with 6-track sound, sitting in the Balcony's first-row-center of one of the best reserved-seat "roadshow" theaters in this country....and have never forgotten it. The same theater used to have re-runs of great films in "morning shows" and this movie returned at least twice. I made it a point to see it again....and again.
4-0 out of 5 stars Grieg's Music a Landmark for Norway
I first watched this movie just after its release at a movie theater in Boston in 1970 and saw it again aboard an SAS flight from Copenhagen to New York in January 1972. I was impressed with the scenery of the old country. Many of these places I have visited as a youth and as an adult. Edvard Grieg's music describes the love and adoration he had for his country. Listening to his music I can picture in my mind the beauty of Norway's picturesque, breathtaking landscape; i.e. fjords, forests, waterfalls and mountains.

5-0 out of 5 stars Newley's masterpiece and Tanner's acclaimed performance
Did you know that Anthony Newley never sold the film rights to Stop The World...? The studio's promotion notwithstanding, this Warner Brothers release (and the two additional versions that followed, with Sammy Davis, Jr. and Peter Scolari, respectively) are filmed records of the show in performance on stage. Newley was, in fact, so protective of this show and so concerned with the idea that it might fail to earn it's place in the musical theatre canon because of mishandling or misrepresentation that he twice refused to appear in filmed versions of the show. After the New York critics raved about him as an actor/writer (rather than writer/actor?) he obsessed that the show would be shrugged off as a star vehicle, useless without him. (Likewise, his followup show "Roar of the Greasepaint..." starred Norman Wisdom until producer David Merrick refused to present it without Newley in the lead!) For the first (and only good) "film" Newley endorsed his London replacement Tony Tanner, who had turned this show and role into something of a personal triumph when Newley left for Broadway. Any reservations you may feel about coughing up $20 for a non-Newley "Stop The World" will be found unwarranted when you see Tanner's brilliant star turn. Wry and cynical, by turns put-upon and smug, Tanner breathes glorious life into one of the most alarmingly ambiguous musical roles ever written. Dripping with adroit charm, yet roundly dislikable, Tanner is a marvel to behold.

1-0 out of 5 stars Stop The World, Please
I was disappointed with this release.I was looking for a 1996 version that starred Peter Scolari and Stephanie Zimbalist.Saw it on t.v. once and loved it,but, can't find a copy anywhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT.The more you see it the better it becomes
I saw this in the theatres about 10 times before it ever came out on video.Since I now have the video, I have seen it at least 50 times and it gets better each time. This is the type of show you must see about threetimes before it becomes great. Each time you see it, something new seemsto show up.Would not recommend it to anyone under 16. Try it, you'll loveit. It makes you think and use your brain. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Prince is Brilliant!
I've been a Prince fan for years and came across this on cable about two weeks ago for the first time.Amazingly brilliant vocals/guitar work/creative performance by Prince, and Shelia E. was awesome on drums, really fun.I went to my local mall the following morning obssessed with buying anything Prince.Unfortunately my Sign O' the Times cassette from back in the day is worn out and I had to special order it on CD...Still waiting!I forgot what an awesome album it is!I highly recommend this VHS (don't know anything about the DVD version, sorry).

5-0 out of 5 stars Words cannot describe it!
Who cares how long it took..? Actually I do, and so do plenty of others it seems - it's at sales rank position 73 on 22 June 2005 and apparently still rising! Still, here it is at long last.5-0 out of 5 stars This is the real deal
One of the best - if not THE best - rock concerts ever recorded on film. Anyone who has been waiting for the DVD release should wait no more. Don't know if this is an "official" release, and don't know why it's only available on amazon.ca. But sound and widescreen picture are great. I've played my VHS version a hundred times, but there are things on this version I've never noticed before, or heard before, the sound is that good. Yes, for some reason the "You Got The Look" video is out-of-focus and grainy, but the sound is still OK. Until he releases a DTS-ES version, this is the one to have. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Computer Animated Visuals !
The Mind's Eye is my favorite and most prized CG animated videotape of all time---it was my first of it's kind. There were other computer artists and animators who jumped on the bandwagon with their releases at the time of this new emerging video trend.Quite often the results were rather crude and archaic looking with bad visual and audio editing techniques. Many used a cheap Casio keyboard production for soundtrack music. They released poor imitations that were absolutely nothing like this collection. The competition just couldn't hold a candle to the Mind's Eye...
5-0 out of 5 stars The past, present, and future storyof civilization
This video, while famous for its compilation of then ground-breaking CGI, is really most interesting for the story that it tells. The sequence of the segments ambitiously chronicles the the formation of Earth ("Creation"), the rise of human civilizations ("Civilization Rising"), the technological advances of humanity from the advent of agriculture to the future exploration of the cosmos. The video speculatively concluded with a segment of what might be the next sentient species to arise on Earth (birds?).
4-0 out of 5 stars reply, where did they go?
This is the video that got me hooked on computer animation years ago.It was released in two versions, 1 in general video stores released by BMG video and another in Radio Shack stores, they are about 70% the same but the rest is very different. Some clips share the music and titles but the images were totally different. The R.S. version was custom made for them, and yes 8th track (the temple) was replaced with (Q factor) (Tingri) (The way I feel).Yes 3 for 1!The seperate music CD features the original 8 tracks by James Renolds.By the way - the next 2 videos in the series also had sepererate R. S. versions, although not as drastic a difference as this first one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Video.... But Would Have LOVED to See More of Those TEMPTIN' TEMPTATIONS
This video was absolutely wonderful and a whole lotta fun to watch. It was great to see so many legends perform their timeless hits. I loved to see The Four Tops, Somokey & The Miracles and everyone else that was featured. The only problem I had with this video though was I really would have loved to see more of my all time faves..... those Temptin' Temptations.

5-0 out of 5 stars Detroit is the music hall of fame!!
This video only begins to demonstrate the influence that Detroit artists have had on modern music. How many commercials, tv shows, and movie films used motown songs??
4-0 out of 5 stars More Shows Please!
In this film you get to see more then The Temptations and The Supremes, you get to see Junior Walker and The All Stars, The Four Tops, Martha and The Vadellas performing their number 1 hits, I wish they would do more films like this showing rare clips of the Motown artists. The Motown artist back in the 60s, were the hardest working performers in the 60s. Hopefully in the future we'll see more like this. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Complete Doors Concert On Film - May Be The Only One
This is the legendary Doors at their peak in this, the only complete concert ever filmed of the controversial superband. The concert was filmed live at the Hollywood Bowl during the July 4th weekend in 1968. The concert includes my favorite Doors' song "light My Fire" (extended version.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Hey!Where's the DVD???
This video is a very entertaining 90 minutes of excellent music, short interviews, and backstage footage.MB20 is a crazy bunch of guys; their antics, mock accents, and quips are funny even if you're not a big fan of their music already. The lighthearted footage makes a nice juxtaposition with the passionate performances of their songs from YOSLY (plus a few extras).5-0 out of 5 stars Loved it
I received this as a Christmas gift in 1999 and I loved it. I was so happy to finally have a video I could watch whenever I wanted. I loved their version of "Time After Time." It was the best remake I have ever heard. I really loved the videos at the end, which I play over and over!! The funniest part to me was when Rob talked about his dirty mouth and how he curses alot. That was funny. The music was great and so were the behind the scene extras. I also loved the end when the credits were rolling and they start talking about opening for the Rolling Stones. Rob's accent is hilarious. If you love MB20 you should have this video.

3-0 out of 5 stars Its pretty good, however
Its pretty good for something from 20 years ago, however, I was worried my toddler would get A.D.D. watching it because the scenes are constantly changing and erratic. My toddler enjoys "Toddler Tunes" and "Silly Songs" by cedarmontkids much more.

4-0 out of 5 stars Old Fashioned, But Good
Yes, this is the one I remember. As a child, I loved this video, but my 2-year-old...not so much. Maybe he'll grow into it. I think the pace of it is just too slow for him right now. It would be great if Kidsongs would reproduce some of these classic sing-alongs with an up-to-date style.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm not a Monkee fan but this is fun
I happened to catch this on TV years ago. The Monkees got together for one more episode of their show and they made it seem as if the show had never ended! This was like the 500th episode or something like that !I loved that idea! I'm not a Monkees fan but I have to admit this is a clever and funny special. The guys are all in good form and the tunes from the Just Us album featured in this sound like good stuff to me. I can't believe some critics on here are picking on the Monkees for being childish at times! LOL! It's the MONKEES people! Sure there are plenty of enjoyable moments of goofy stuff in this TV special and that's the charm of it. It's often as silly as the Monkees TV show was back in the old days and as always it's clear that the boys know just how silly it all is. I also notice that a lot of folks were unhappy with the Monkees getting together for one more half hour episode and pretending that the show had been running all those years. I'm sorry folks but that was a very entertaining idea. This special may be just another half hour episode to some but to me this is a winner. Even a non-fan like myself will have to admit that coming back for one more trippy episode was clever. This special taught me that the Monkees still can entertain and are always worth a look and a listen.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must for a Tina Turner and Marvin Gaye Fans
This is an excellent video all the way through. However there is something very rare and seldom seen on it. This tape has a long lost duet between Marvin Gaye and Tina Turner. The performance is one of the best I ever seen by both performers. Plus there are things to be seen by Tina and Marvin. You can see Tina do A Fool In Love and Marvin do Hitch Hike. Not to mention that you can see the early Aretha Franklin before she became the Queen Of Soul, also the Godfather of Soul James Brown's raw dancining skills at work. Overall the duet between Marvin and Tina was the perfect climax to Shindig Soul video. A true lover of early Soul/R&B music, Marvin Gaye and Tina Turner wouldn't be disappointed by purchasing this tape. I highly endorse it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Soulful Vibe of Shindig!
Some of the best clips of rock'n'roll performers are to be found on Shindig and this edition, "Shindig! Presents: Soul" is chock full of great perfomances by James Brown, Joe Tex, Booker T & the MGs, TinaTurner, Aretha Franklin, Major Lance, and a see-it-to-believe it duet byTina Turner and Marvin Gaye. So good, they really need a 2nd edition ofthis! Actually, a 2nd edition of the whole Shindig! series is a must! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great video...but for salsa dancers only.
I bought this video a few days ago and then read the comments on this product page and I was bit hesitant to open the video. However, it is great and in fact one the best that I own from the Josie Neglia series. The salsa moves are excellent, popular, but for advanced salsa dancers only. I found the moves to be great refreshers since I have been taken salsa lessons for almost 10 years now and dance regularly. These moves serve as refreshers for those who are salsa dancers and possibly instructors. If you are a beginner this video is not for you and in fact there's nothing on the box that says "beginner salsa" therefore I am not sure where the notion of this video being for beginners originated. Once again the moves are fantastic, common and will help you to break down the moves more if that's what is needed to perfect them.3-0 out of 5 stars Not a good choice for beginners
I read the reviews of this video and then bought it anyway because I'm not a total beginner and thought I would be bored with a lot of simplistic breaking down of moves and easy patterns. I was wrong! This is too hard for beginners of any level, even if you already know the basic step and a few turns. Most of the combinations are really complicated, and they provide only brief instructions.2-0 out of 5 stars Horrible for Beginners
As a beginner I am now taking salsa lessons and still very disappointed with this video. As per this tape if you're a beginner stay away.Good instructors always count "1,2,3,,5,6,7," while showing you the exact steps/footing.As an instructor Jose Neglia doesn't even know how to count - she says "quick, quick, slow,,quick, quick, slow".Not only is that really bad instruction, she furthermore often loses the tempo when she says "quick, quick, slow" which confuses the beginner even more. One more thing, she instructs the dance steps very quickly "quick, quick, slow" then demonstrates it very quickly. If you are a beginner there's no way you'll enjoy this tape. ...
