Editorial Review

Minna Lessig, a former Ms. Fitness USA and N.P.C. National Fitness Champion, leads this 30-minute circuit-training workout, which alternates 2.5minutes of aerobic exercise with 1.5 minutes of muscle training in six 4-minute circuits. You'll keep your heart rate up and tone at the same time. The routine will appeal to exercisers who want to get the job done without dance or frills. The aerobic moves are athletic: scissor jumps, kicks, punches, and jumping jacks--nothing dancier than a grapevine. (No low-impact modifications are shown for the jumps.) The muscle intervals include controlled moves such as lunge variations, squats, plies, and push-ups. You don't use weights, but you'll fatigue at least the lower-body muscles though sheer repetition.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good workout
As others have said, it's not for those with bad knees. The workout involves a lot of jumping and squats.
4-0 out of 5 stars be prepared to feel the burn
I was hesitant to try this DVD, as I generally hate workout DVDs and don't find them useful, but after trying it out, my mind has been changed.I actually can see the results of three days a week of Fat Eliminator:in only four weeks there's more tone in my thighs and [...], and I can now fit back into my "skinny jeans."Even though the workouts are hard (and "hard" is an understatement), they leave me energized and looking forward to the next one.As for Minna, she is easily the best instructor I've seen on a DVD.She's encouraging without being cloying, and she's done a great job in putting together a workout that those of us who lack the coordination for dance moves can do.Her instruction is easy to follow without being too talky. She also looks like someone who's in shape and not just skinny and has muscled rather than just skinny people working out with her, which is nice to see.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fat Eliminator - Excellent Video!!
I've been working out for an entire year consistently; LOVE squats & lunges. However, while looking for something new for variety, found this video but wasnt sure about its effectiveness without weights (can squat 50 lbs for 65 reps).OH MY GOD!! this workout will have your legs SCREAMING!!! I've seen a little more cut within the thigh muscles already.Never underestimate a workout using only body weight. This tape is now part of my regular weekly workout. Its very little investment for INCREDIBLE results!!

This innovative workout blends traditional strength-training moves, suchas squats and lunges, with yoga postures and Pilates-inspired moves in aninteresting, varied format. Led by Minna Lessig, a former Ms. Fitness USA andN.P.C. National Fitness Champion, you move gracefully from position to position. For example, beginning in a plié you transition into a warrior pose, orfrom a wide squat into a tree pose, to sounds of music with a Latin beat. Inanother exercise, Minna has you hold a push-up position (a posture called "theplank") for long enough to tremble, then push your hips up until you're in thedownward dog pose.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love Minna!
I am just getting to know Minna and so far I love her personality and her attitude during the workouts.I first saw her in the quick ten minutes video that she does with two other instructors (can't remember the name because i didn't really like it) and she immediately stood out to me.I plugged her name into Amazon and came upon this video which i think is wonderful. The tone of her voice is not annoying at all and you can actually hear her breathing hard during the cardio which makes me feel better. The back ground people are average people too. There is an older lady, a really skinny girl, a girl that has a body like myself, and a really fit aisian girl. Most of all I love the 2nd portion of the video for days when i don't feel like jumping around so much. It's more toning but don't get me wrong - you still break out in a sweat.I have had this dvd for about 3 weeks and have been switching back and forth from the cardio/strength to the strength and grace portion and i have noticed a difference in my body, especially my [back] and thighs.I would give this 10 stars if they allowed it!

5-0 out of 5 stars strength & grace ~ a must have
Minna is not only a pleasant instructor, but she gives you a real challenge of a workout. This workout both builds muscle strength and develops balance. While perhaps a challenge for a beginner, this video will bring you to the next level in core strength and stability. What I like about "Strength & Grace" is the incorporation of key yoga poses like warrior, tree and downward dog. Even though I do work out regularly, there are some moves that are balance challenging; like the "T" Pose. The ab section is also very good; using moves like boat pose. This is a wonderful overall workout and the music fits perfectly. Love this video!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun dance workout + toning
I'm in average shape and frequently exercise at home. I used Minna's Fat Eliminator workout for a while and enjoyed her style, so I decided to give the "Emergency" workout a shot. I just got it this week and have done the entire video twice. The 30-minute toning portion is great. She combines arms and legs so you do work up a sweat. She's very thorough, covering all of the arm muscles and fatiguing the legs as well. I wish she spent a little more time on the abs, but that's my only complaint. The 30-minute cardio routine is fun, but it will take a few times to get the moves down, including mambos, cha chas, hip shakes, and other salsa-type moves. It requires some concentration which is fine with me, because it makes the workout go quicker. I haven't sweated as much as I do in the Fat Eliminator workout, but I attest that to the fact that I'm still getting used to the moves. Once I become more familiar with the routine, I'm hoping to increase my own intensity and work up a better sweat. Overall, this is a fun cardio and toning program. I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a "dancey" workout.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good, especially for those still pretty new to exercise
I really like this DVD.Minna doesn't break any new ground here, but she is a great instructor. She is not annoying, she cues well, and she's gorgeous so it just might give you something to aspire to.The cardio portion of this DVD is a lot of fun because, even though it's pretty standard aerobics, Minna puts it together in a way that is NOT AT ALL difficult to follow and kind of makes you feel like you're grooving on a dance floor. The toning section is heavy on the squats and lunges and you use light weights throughout for the arms.Absolute beginners might start out with no weights and anyone with weak knees needs to be careful here.Minna is very fit and goes DEEP into those squats and lunges, but if you are out of shape that will hurt you, so don't go as deep.I'm sure this DVD won't do much for the advanced exerciser, but for everyone else I think it's just wonderful. You can increase the weights in the toning section as you progress and it's easy to step up the cardio a bit if you focus and USE all of your muscles to get that heart rate up.A lot of people complain about the quality of the cardio and at first I agreed, but once I got the routine down and really focused on the workout...I got sweaty!I'm glad I bought this (it's going into my favorites pile) and I would definitely recommend buying the Emergency Workout. It really is a fun video and Minna is lovely and low-key.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good workout!
This DVD gives a very good 60 minute workout. As others have pointed out the cardio is very dancy. The first time I did it, I felt a bit awkward with the steps, but when I did it the second time I was able to follow along with no problems. The dance moves are a fun change up from my usual routine. If someone like Denise Austin were leading this one, I don't think I would play along. Minna is by far my favorite instructor, so I go along with it and it ends up being a fun workout. I wouldn't want to do this every day, but it is good to have something different in the rotation.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this workout!
I love this workout!Fun and easy, but not too easy.I enjoy the trainers as well.Feel good about only doing ten minutes.

3-0 out of 5 stars So-So
I just did this yesterday for the first time.I can feel it in my thighs the most . The tape is a series of three 10 Min. workouts designed to be done together or separately. I fail to see how 10 min. can be a truly complete workout but, all things considered, I think they did a pretty good job of making it count.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not for those seeking an intense 30 minute workout
I am adding this review for those who may want a 30 minute intermediate-advanced level workout that packs a punch for 30 entire minutes - this is NOT the workout for you.I think this workout is good for those who are beginners. I am very time crunched and when I grab a video - I want to sweat and feel my heart pumping for 30 minutes straight.I found this video wasted a lot of time. The first 10 minute segment with Minna was the best - basic squats, lunges, calf raises, lateral raises with dumbbells. I increased my repetitions and managed to sweat.I was disappointed with the next 10 minute segment which I thought would be some form of kickboxing. It wasn't - rather very slow stetching and some very basic but slow punches.Honestly, I found it repetitive and I didn't get any exercise benefit out of it. Then on to the last 10 minute portion which was some basic cardio moves (very straightforward and again at a modest cardio level). The intructor did a short plank pose, some modified push ups and a tiny bit of core work but no real abdominal work.Overall, I thought too much time was spent stretching or on slowpaced exercises. If you are new to exercise or at a beginner level, you might enjoy this video. But, for the money, I would recommend I Want That Body by Tamilee Webb or Crunch Fitness's BootCamp Training - two workouts that will give you a start to finish intense workout. ... Read more

excellent tape , workouts really focus on area for toning .I can see a difference allready. If you are serious about toning your arms and legs ,i would highly reccomend this tape ,it really works. I use it as often as i can, even before i go to work i know with this tape whether it was ten minutes or thirty you will feel the great workout. i highly reccomend it ,not one of those tapes with dancing show girls. These girls are serious.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have!
All of the videos in the Quick Fix series are excellent. The work outs are broken into three parts of ten minutes each. All that one needs is tennis shoes and some weights and a good attitude toward getting fit. The instructors give clear and easily demonstrated excercises. I will use this video on hectic days. I usually use 5 lb weights. It is both challenging for the begginer and someone who is in good shape. ... Read more
