4-0 out of 5 stars Not for the beginner
I really liked the video. The only thing is thatshe goes pretty fast and in the beginning it is hard to stay with her.I don't recommend it for a beginner, but great for the intermediate or advanced level person.

4-0 out of 5 stars Effective but not easy on the knees
I love Tamilee Webb's videos.SHe has excellent cuing, the exercise tapes that she makes are really effective (of course if you are consistent!) and she is very non-threatening.Legs of STeel is a wonderful change from the usual leg exercises and instead of laying down these exercises are performed using a chair for support while standing.5-0 out of 5 stars I'd say this is not just for beginners
I have this tape, and while it is one of my easier lower body tapes, I feel it still challenges me. I use a Spri rubber exercise band instead of the ankle weights and feel it is tougher by pulling for resistance, rather than a weighted leg. I also use heavy weights during the squat sections. Every leg exercise is separated with a series of squats. At the end of the routine, you do each exercise a 2nd time. Then at the very end, you do 2 sets of 10 lunges, but with those you use plyometrics and switch your legs in mid air. I often use my heavy weights and just do stationary lunges instead, then switch legs on the 2nd set. Read more

Editorial Review

Circuit training means alternating between cardiovascular and strength training so that you get the benefits of both while stepping up the intensity of the workout. This 45-minute workout for experienced exercisers includes a half-hour of 10-minute cycles consisting of a minute of cardio step alternating with a minute of strength exercises using either a resistance tube or free weights. Gin Miller, the queen of step--she invented the original aerobic step workout--ably leads you through this tightly organized, superbly cued workout. One class member demonstrates modifications for beginners (although you seldom can see her), while the rest of the class ups the intensity by adding some running, hopping, and leaping moves. The choreography is never very dancy, but it's varied enough not to get boring. You'll enjoy this most if you're an athletic exerciser looking for an interesting, new challenge. Live music enhances the workout. The constantly changing camera angles can be distracting when you're first trying to learn the moves. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Workout
Wow!!!! I just received it today and it's fantastic. It's been years since I've exercised and I really need to get back in shape. I'm 5'9 and BEFORE I had my baby I weighed 125 lbs and could wear anything I wanted. I now weigh 160 lbs (I recently lost 16 lbs) and my baby's 6 years old! I have tried all the fad diets and nothing has worked. I'm finally ready to get back to the basics...less calories and more exercise! With self discipline and the help of Step Reebok Circuit Challenge..I am positive that I'll reach my goal and rediscover my former self.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is a good work-out video, beginner or advanced.
I had been working out at a gym for about 1 year and decided to start working out at home.I bought a tape and used it for about a year and needed a new one.I bought Gin Miller's tape and at first was uncomfortable with the camera work. And really, who needs to watch the musicians when you want to watch the foot work of the people you're trying to follow! There are plenty of repeat steps to help you catch on if your a beginner, but they can become boring if you're advanced.I've had to crank it up to keep my interest.4-0 out of 5 stars Go For It!
This is my first Gin Miller video and I must say I was really challenged!I just love her enthusiasm! I haven't worked out in a while and it definitely "pumped me up."It is for all levels (believe me, just starting out again, I'm definitely a beginner), but it challenged me to work up to the intermediate and advanced level.I also recommend you use weights instead of tubing if for no other reason, to keep up.The fast pace makes it a little difficult to alternate between the strength training and cardio without having to pause the tape (and I hate to do that).I nearly killed myself the first time I did it! But if you are looking to build muscle from strength training and burn calories from cardio all in one, this is no doubt the workout for you! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Step Tape
This is one of the best step tapes ever!Gilad is a fantastic instructor as usual, and the whole stepping routine is done with hand weights.Truly, a total body workout.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very challenging workout with definite results
This is THE ONE video that I pick out of my collection, when I really want to feel like I've worked every part of my body. The first time I tried to do this video, I thought it was very confusing and very difficult and itsat on my shelf for a long time. Now that I am a little more advanced, Iabsolutely love it.It really puts your stamina to the test. The entirestep aerobics portion is done with hand weights--and what a workout it is!!If you're not sweating when this section is over, something is wrong!Thetoning section is also great. You work a little bit of everything--yourcalf muscles, hips, thighs, butt, and you finish it off with abs.Gilad isan excellent instructor.I recommend this video for anyone who is lookingfor a challenge in their workout.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this video because it works all parts of your body.
This video is varied in steps and hand and arm movements.Gilad is a fun person to work out with.I did his Bodies in Motion TV program for years along with most of this cast.He explains the moves well and does themslowly then steps up the speed.I love the Hawaii setting, too!I lovedoing step aerobics and this is one of my favorite workouts. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars What a fun way to get into shape
This tape is very entertaining, with a lot of fun and easy moves. I recommend it to all beginners.

5-0 out of 5 stars Low Impact Aerobics
I just bought this tape three weeks ago and have been "doing it" 3 days a week. I have lost 3 pounds by just increasing my aerobic activity, plus Jane Fonda's steps are fun! The music is great (I'm 48 years old). If you don't mind the over-enthusiastic entourage of people working-out with her, plus a little comedic-refief in the form of a lost young man, you'll really enjoy this workout. I look forward to dancing with Jane, and plan to increase my workouts to 5 days a week.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great low impact workout

1-0 out of 5 stars boring..
I love tamilee but this video is soo boring. My buns dont feel at all sore.It was a nice cardio workout but thats about it. I was hoping for more bun work since it is called BUNS of steel.
4-0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good step workout...
I like this video, yes it's a little dated and it's not the toughest routine in the world but I always get a good workout with this video.Tamilee Webb leads you through a 40 minute step routine along with 2 background exercisers, Lori who shows some easier modifications, and Megan who is the advanced stepper and uses a higher platform. They are dressed in animal print outfits and are in the same drab setting as most of the Buns of Steel workouts are filmed. But for me it doesn't take away from the workout at all.
3-0 out of 5 stars not exactly advanced
This video is a decent, although somewhat repetitive, beginner/intermediate workout. The moves are pretty simple if you've done step before, and in general are well instructed and easy to learn. One thing that bothered me was that, like so many exercise videos, the beginning, very simple moves are reviewed extensively, and then some of the more complicated, high intensity moves are just thrown in without much explanation. This is only frustrating for the first couple viewings, though, because after a few times you've learned them. I am what I would consider intermediate, and while I do get a nice sweat going here I never feel very challenged. The moves WILL work your butt if you really commit to the moves (lots of squats and lunges). Basically, this is a good tape if you want a nice workout on a day where you don't want to really push yourself. Tamilee Webb is a friendly and non-irritating instructor, but the sound quality in the tape is awful. Several times you can barely hear her over the music, which is pretty bad. When you can hear her, however, she sounds great, supportive and energetic without the shrillness of other instructors. I enjoyed this tape, but the sound quality and lack of challenge for an "intermediate/advanced" tape made me feel it should be a three, not a four star rating. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great workout for the upper body,Abs too!
This is a great workout for the upper body.Tamilee Webb really gives a good routine for the upper body and abdominals. She alternates arm workouts and ab workouts. She does a few minutes of arms then a few minutes of abdominals.Tamilee uses a pair of three pound dumbells for the arm exercises.I like to use heavier dumbells for the arm exercises. She also uses a chair for the workout to sit in while doing the arms. She also uses the chair for my favorite part of the video. She does a supper set of tricep dips on the chair.First does a set using both arms, then she gives you a chance to do one arm tricep dips.It is really effective. The abdominal work is all done on the floor.Tamilee really knows what to do for the abs.It is really effective abdominal crunches. It you are a big fan of Tamilee Webb`s Abs of Steel videos. You will also be a fan of this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars An effective but dated workout
I had a few problems with this video.First of all, the appearance is very dated looking, especially given that Tamilee wears a visor throughout the workout. The set is very plain, and the production quality is poor. With respect to the exercises themselves, I'm concerned that some of the moves she does for abs may be bad for the neck.In Tamilee's more recent videos, she has eliminated these exercises, so I wonder if they are no longer recommended. The arms workout is good but consists of mostly traditional moves, although Tamilee does add a few twists such as doing a set of bicep curls coming only halfway up instead of a full curl.5-0 out of 5 stars Arms & Abs is excellent!
I used to do lots of traditional push-ups and sit ups to keep in shape for Military Physical Fitness tests.I now alternate between Arms & Abs and Arms & Abs 2.I have worked up to using fairly heavy weights (dumbells) between 15 & 40 lbs.Physical Fitness tests are no problem. An overall great workout that with the occasional fast forward, allows you to keep up your heart rate for the additional cardio-vascular benefit. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars JUST AN AWFUL WORKOUT, AND DANGEROUS TO BOOT
Thankfully I reviewed the videotape before doing the workout, (which I should have done before buying it), and saved myself megaa bucks in the Chiropractor's office. The movements are over repeated, stressful on the joints, and with a hundred people working out with her, there is no moving around possible at all, which also causes stress on the joints and back.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fun, good music, challenging, rewarding!
Best Yet Live is a 60 minute strenuous challenging jazzercize workout. The video, I believe, is from '85-87 and doesn't have a dated look. Judi Missett, founder of Jazzercise, conducts this workout in front of a very large class. Unlike the standard videos with exercisers, the camera faces the back of the class, who face Judi. She works alone in this segment. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars challenging but you will get results fast
i like this tape. as much as i groan complain during the workout i have been doing this one for about 3 weeks now and notice great results. the guy is stupid, disregard his left/right leg instructions. just follow the instructors and you will be just fine. i would have given it 5 stars if they had gotten someone else as a 'host' for this program. some of the music is not great, either, but all in all this program will give you stronger abdominals.

3-0 out of 5 stars Seems challenging yetI dont get any results
Usually the firm is great with their "10 workouts and you will see results thing". But ive been doing this tape on and off for over a year now and while it seems tough at the time my abs are never sore the next day and they look the same as they did a year ago.
5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST!!
If you have very little time and a bad lower back, this is the best video to integrate into your life. It's only5-7 minutes per day and if you do it every day (different workout each day), you will DEFINITELY notice stronger abs and better posture. It's amazing how quickly it goes, and yet how much impact it has. It's one of my top 3 overall.Good luck!Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fast-paced, intense Pilates routine
This 19-minute Pilates routine ups the intensity by moving more quickly than most.Instructor Mari Winsor starts with the traditional sequence of the hundred-the rollup-the rollover, moving briskly through the repetitions and with little pausing between the exercises. After rolling like a ball and single leg circles, Mari leads you right into the series of five, increasing the intensity by adding a second set of faster repetitions to each move.Other exercises included in this workout are leg kicks, back stretch, child's pose, the neck pull, the jackknife, swimming, several teaser variations, heel beats, and some of the side kick series. You'll end with a few additional side kick exercises performed on the knees (tough!) and finally the seal. I use this video frequently whenever I am looking for a quick, intense Pilates workout at an intermediate level. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Richard Simmons exercise tape
This is by far my favorite Richard Simmons exercise tape.I started using this tape about a year ago and I still have fun with it today! The music is a blast and the dancing is fun. However, like others have said, it takes some time getting the routines down. But, once you do, you'll have so much fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm Stunned
This workout was really fantastic. At first it went pretty fast; I had never done a Richard Simmons tape before. First time, I was a little slow to catch and perfect all the moves, but by the second time I had it almost had all of (the 50 minutes) down. Now, I'm stuck and can't stop doing this tape. The music is paced fairly consistantly, but I never got to tired and was always looking forward to the next song. The scenery also changed every few songs from a park, to some shops, a club, etc. All the people were alive and I wasn't exhausted by the end and had to do the tape again. Now I'm hooked and am trying all his other tapes/dvd's. I feel like dancing all the time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dance Your Pants Off Knocked My Socks Off!
I can't say enough about how thrilled I was to find the "Dance Your Pants Off" video among my collection.(I'd forgotten that I had it.)I've been exercising regularly (at least 5 days a week) for the past year using different videos, many of them Richard Simmons. When I came across this one and decided to try it, I was so excited, because I had so much fun with it, I couldn't wait to do it again. The steps and movements are easy and fun to do.Six weeks later, and I still look forward to exercising with this video! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous workout!!!
This is a MUST HAVE pilates DVD. The moves are awesome, and while you are doing it, you can feel the fantastic burns, and the stretches release the tension in your body so efficiently. The only thing that I can complain about is the breathing, I feel hard to keep up with it, the fast and forced inhales and exhales are so unnatural, I guess it takes a while to get use to. I especially like the lower body and stretch sections. As for abs, whenever I'm doing ONE HUNDRED or double leg/single leg stretch, I don't feel much around my abs, but very tense on my neck, I guess that's my weakness point. But overall, this DVD is well-structured, very well interpreted and easy to follow (only a few moves are advance for newbies like me).

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the busy mom
These 10 minute workout combos are great for any busy mom since you can do one, two or three depending on how much time you have and how tired you are!

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars for Pilates
The instructor Lara Hudson motivates you through each 10 minute section that you can do all together for a total of 50 minutes or only do a couple at a time. I thought the execises were all unique and fun to do.

Editorial Review

This 1991 Fonda workout works the lower body in two ways:35 minutes of low-impact aerobic dance with some step, then 25 minutesof targeted conditioning for the abs, buttocks, and thighs. The whole workout iswell choreographed, well instructed, and accessible to beginners. Fonda startsby giving basic directions for exercisers new to stepping. Then she bows out anda variety of energetic, capable instructors alternate teaching segments of theaerobic workout. They use the warm-up to pre-teach many of the moves you'll uselater, so although the aerobic section has a lot of dance choreography, it's notall unfamiliar, and each move is repeated often enough to get it easily. If youprefer not to use the step at all, several participants show you how to do thewhole aerobic workout without the step. For more intensity and a harder workout, you'll want to follow the instructors using the step. Fonda returns to teachPart 2 herself, starting with traditional lower-body floor work, mainlymany variations of leg lifts and abdominal crunches, followed by a stretch. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Lower Body Workout Ever!!
I have done Jane's video since I was in high school, and I love it!It's made it through the dorms and now in my apartment.I go out for 3-4 mile runs and come home to do the lower body portion and it kicks my A**!!!With the running and the video, my whole body changes so quickly. So, if your up for a tough workout get this video!
4-0 out of 5 stars fun, effective workout
For the most part, this is a pretty good tape if you need something for the lower body. The first half of the tape consists of a low impact aerobic workout. No equipment is needed, but you can use a step/bench if you want an extra challenge. I would definitely recommend that, or using ankle or wrist weights to increase the challenge, as it's a fairly easy workout. Also, since this tape wasmade in 1991, the music, outfits and workout moves are...well, very early 90s. At first I found it rather annoying because I felt like I was training for an MC Hammer music video or something, but after a few goes, I got used to it and actually found it sort of fun. :)
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Lower Body workout!
This video is great for sculpting your abs, buns, and thighs. The aerobics are great for raising your heart rate, and you have the option of using the bench step.Which will help sculpt your thighs more. After the aerobics are finished the instructors do lunges, which will sculpt your thighs, them it's time for the floor work!Jane then takes you through leg lifts, which burn, burn, burn. Then exercises for the abs, and buns that are excellent! This is an excellent lower body video if you see it, buy it!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One of my all-time favorite yoga practices
PM Yoga is an excellent practice for winding down, relaxing, and stretching. It begins with a short focus on breathing, encouraging you to turn your attention inward "where it's quiet." The practice moves from a seated to a kneeling position (love the gate pose!) and also includes traditional standing poses such as a warrior and lunges. This is a great end-of-day workout, and at 24 minutes, it's also a nice quick practice to fit in anytime you need to relax. Patricia Walden provides very good voiceover instruction in a tone that is calm and relaxing. Finally, although this is a very doable program for beginners, all of the Yoga Journal videos assume some basic prior knowledge of the poses (using their Yoga Practice for Beginners video is a good place to start).Although I now consider myself to be at an intermediate level, I still really enjoy this video and use it often; highly recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars Keeping the body in balance
Paricia's tape will serve as a guide for those new to Hatha Yoga as taught in the Iyengar tradition. It is a video that teaches you to do the Yoga asanas (poses) correctly, keeping your body aligned properly. It encourages you to reclaim your vitality by correcting postural imperfections brought on by wrong living (computers, television and hours of sitting behind the wheel ofautomobiles). If you follow Patricia's guidance you will not only learn to do the poses correctly but will become more strong and flexible and begin to feel more energetic. The title, Living Yoga:P.M. Yoga for Beginners, is really the key to this video. It is an invitation to make room in your daily life for nurturing the body in a kind and loving way through Hatha Yoga. That inclusion in your life of this ancient self healing art is 'Living Yoga'.This video is for those that want to be actively involved in improving their mobility, becoming stronger and more forcused. It asks you to be a partner in your own development. Those new to Yoga will obtain the most from this video if they do the video in sections, mastering the first part before going on to the next.Betty Lewis, Director, Yoga With Betty And Friends (YWBF), Baltimore, Md.

5-0 out of 5 stars BLAST OFF THE FAT AND FUN TOO!
The good thing about this video is the women exercising with Richard are overweight people like me who are trying to lose weight. They inspire me to follow along and keep on going. If they can do it, I can do it! Richard tells us to "Believe in yourself," and he's encouraging throughout the video. Another good thing is that Richard names the different moves like "around the world" and "Egyptian," so I can learn how to exercise. And yet another good thing about this video is that the pace is not too fast and not too slow, but just enough to get the heart pumping and the energy going! The people on the video look like they're having fun, and so did I. I don't like to exercise, so anything that looks like fun is my kind of exercise.HulaGirl in Hawaii

I love this tape!I'll be the first to tell you exercising can be a bore and a chore, but this one is so much fun that I actually WANT to do it!None of the movements are difficult or strenuous, but it gets you moving to really catchy music with motivational messages.Best yet, you feel great when you're done! How can you go wrong?

Editorial Review

Who hasn't had the dream of being a tap dancer? Bonnie Franklin, formerly with Donald O'Connor and a tap dancer since the age of 9, makes your dream come true--at least in your living room. Franklin is a warm, motivating and skillful teacher, and she obviously loves tap dancing. The former TV sitcom star leads you through your first steps, appropriate for the two-left-feet among us. Later sections get progressively more complex. Learn a basic tap step, then another, practice and practice, and put them together. Before long, you're dancing complete routines. The video runs 86 minutes, but Franklin suggests you stop and practice a section until you're proficient rather than trying to get through it all at once.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love to Dance!Great DVD!
I have been taking tap for a few years. This is perfect for beginners if you need the basics, she will teach you starting with the most basic steps. If you know how to tap dance move ahead to the routines. There are three great routines. You can do one or all three. She breaks each part down and explains it well.I highly recommend this DVD to anyone who wants to dance.A great way to practice at home!

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!!!!
This video is EVERYTHING I expected and MORE!Bonnie really is clear with her instructions and does a great job of helping you understand what you are doing.Through the routines, you enjoy yourself, you learn, you sweat and you pant, because she really does give you a good, healthy, cardio workout.I would suggest that anyone just starting out go at a slower pace.Don't try to do the video all at once, especially if you have health issues.Learn where your limits are and go further as you develop your stamina. This video is definitely worth the money! You would pay many times the price to learn the same thing in a studio.Plus, you have the ability to practice at home, every day.No gasoline prices, weather extremes, heavy traffic, or schedules to deal with.Practice when your lifestyle permits.Taking classes along with this video would be beneficial, but during spells when no studio classes are available, this video will definitely get you through the season! If your goal is to lose weight, stick with a regular routine of this workout and watch your diet (just because you want to eat healthier) and you *should* be able to lose weight and have fun at the same time!
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Dance How-To Out There
I wish she would put out more like this, it is superior.I have dozens of dance/exercise videos (bellydance, tap, hip-hop, etc.)The instructional format and Bonnie's teaching are exceptional - better than any other.First she shows you what each of three routines look like.Next she teaches each routine. Her instructions are clear and perfectly paced. Then she runs through the routine with you at a moderate tempo (this is the tempo I usually use to practice).Last, she performs each routine again up to speed. You come away with three great and basic tap dance routines that I am still practicing years after I learned them.I can't say this about any other tape/dvd I have. The routines progress in difficulty; the time step is exhausting and a great workout, even for dancers with some experience. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars More than ABS
I have been using Leslie Sansone's other Walk Away the Pounds videos with the 2 pound weights for over a year and love them. The WATP series for ABS is also wonderful. The pace is faster and the belt really adds another dimension to the program - you definitely see results.Don't think just your ABS will benefit from these videos - you will see results in your arms, legs, and abs! ...
