Richard Simmons is the king of motivational exercise, especially if you're a beginner. This video workout is a dance party simulating a class reunion, with an energizing live band playing lively hits from the '50s and '60s, such as "It's My Party and I'll Cry If I Want To," "Great Balls of Fire," and "Dancing in the Streets." The singers and musicians sometimes come offstage and dance with the exercisers, adding to the energy and festivity. The choreography is very simple, low impact, light intensity, and appropriate for beginners and overweight exercisers. (You may not get your heart rate up if you're very fit, although you'll enjoy the music.) Richard doesn't do much in the way of cueing--he assumes you'll just follow along. His onscreen class has women and men of all body shapes and sizes, and everyone is having a blast. You will, too. At the end, the exercisers dance down the floor and the screen flashes how many pounds they've lost--several have lost more than 100 pounds. Pop Cultural Masterpiece
The workout is a lot of fun, but even if you are not buying it for the exercise, this video delivers a ton of fun and a trip down memory lane.Were we really so young, fat, and naive?Awesome!

I thought Richard Simmons would offer a good energetic workout. I would recomend this product to the elderly or people with physical conditions, I on the other hand got more of a workout walking to the mailbox to get this tape. I stood in front of the tv for about 15 min's waiting for them to start the actual workout I then started fast forwarding looking for the workout. I never found it. I then took the tape out and put another one in. If you are looking for a good workout I would recommend you look elsewhere. Sorry Richard.

Richard Simmons = good
First of all I would just like to say that I love Richard Simmons and his tapes have made me happier than any other workout tape I have ever used. I am 16 years old, and when I was little, about 3 or 4, my mom bought Richard Simmons: Sweatin' to the Oldies, her and her friends would excercise to it and bring their daughters along and we would dance and just have a good time to the music. Now, they haven't done that in years, well, probobly about 12 years actually, and I, being the naive teenager I was, would make fun of my mom for having done Richard Simmons because it seemed so lame. But then a couple years ago, in secret, because I would have been devistated to like, have my older brother and his friends come down and see me doing Richard Simmons, I put in Richard Simmons and excerised with him. And I actually really liked it! I loved the cheesy dance moves and watching the people on the tape sing along to the music! It makes you feel so good about yourself and (suprisingly) did not make me feel like a loser! It made me feel good. Now if I ever am feeling like I have been lazy all day but it's too rainy or cold to go outside running and I'm too lazy (or it's too late) to go to the gym, I pop in Richard Simmons. It still makes me feel good. At the end of the workout whenyou cool down he tells you to "Give yourself a hug" and it makes me smile, everytime. ... Read more

Love it!
This is my all time favorite workout video!This video is great for the young and the old because it combines fun dance moves with great oldies classics that everyone can enjoy.It's the perfect workout for those with bad joints or do not have a wide range of motion.The perfect start and end to a more thinner, happier you!!

My Favorite workout Video
This right here is the best workout video. I first got into it late in my elementary school years. Ten years later, I still do it a couple times a week. Instead of using bottles as weights as they do in the video, I usually use soup cans. I have problems in my joints, and I cannot do any excersizes that put too much stress on my joints. I love this video because you can do it in your living room in your pajamas. I love it because it is easy to catch on to and I think it is a lot of fun. It is real motivational on those days you just dont want to excersize, but you see how much fun the people are having in the video, singing along, dancing, cheering, counting out the steps....I do it on those days when you just dont want to get out of bed. I do it as a warmup before i go running. I do it when I have too much energy or when I really have nothing better to do. I do it the week of finals when I need a study break but need to keep moving so I dont fall asleep. Basically, I do it all the time. I always bring it to 'workout video night'. My friends and I get together and everyone brings workout videos. I always make everyone start with this video because not only is it my favorite, I think it is a classic because it uses oldies that every knows and are fun to dance to. This is the perfect video to start a new workout schedule or to add some fun to a current one. I highly recommend this tape to everyone, all ages and sizes.

Tae Bo Workouts
I have to say how wonderful, motivational and challenging tae bo workouts are.In 2 months I've lost 32 pounds, I do tae bo 6 times per week for about 3 months now.I must share the toning results.I've never thought there were actually muscles under the fat in my body after losing 32 pounds.I can see a huge diference on the way I feel,my energy, I feel more confident. I know if I keep doing tae bo I can get to my goal.

I love tae-bo! Billy Blanks is awesome and Tae-bo is fun and easy to use. This dvd is great because it has the different workouts so you can choose what level of difficulty you want. The 8 minute workout is also nice because it's quick enough to do if you only have a few minutes, but effective enough to get your heart pumping and let you feel like you've actually worked out, even if it's only for 8 minutes! I think anyone can do taebo-whether you are super-fit or out of shape. And if you can't quite do all of the moves in the workouts, Billy will show you ways to make them easier. Give Tae-bo a chance! I bet you'll like it!

I bought this set back in 1999, reluctantly.I had never found a good exercise video and was getting the four pack hoping that at least ONE would be good.Well, it's 2006 and I am still doing Tae Bo.I have expanded my collection of videos (and DVDs now) but I still love the originals!Billy is an extremely motivational instructor, and you really feel the vibe of the people in the videos.It pushes you to reach out and grab that little something extra, and when you do and you reach the goal, WOW, it feels AMAZING!

What an amazing video! I received it today. I just popped it in. This video is not only easy to do, but you can really feel it working. I purchased this video for $1.55 and what a BUY!! An Inspirational Product
Not only is this a truly great workoutthat will get you in shape and keep you in shape, it has also been a real inspiration to me in my life and work... When I was getting ready to produce the NEW SEX NOW video, there was a lot of back and forth about whether I should actually be in the video myself or hire performers to do the New Sex demonstration (I am an Ivy League graduate, after all!)One of my confidants asked me, "Is Billy Blanks in his Tae Bo video?" and I said, "He is." And my friend said, "If he's in his video, then you should be in your video." So I am. Thanks Billy, for making a great program and for being such an inspiration.

Excellent workout to fight cellulite/squishy out of shape legs and butt
A few years ago I borrowed these tapes from my sister when I wanted to get in shape for a trip to the islands and decided to start with the basic tape.Let me start by saying I HATE jumping around and aerobics on a whole. I was not terribly out of shape but I had lost all my muscle tone and definition in my legs and [back]. Anyway, I started doing the basic Monday through Friday and let me tell you, within 3 weeks I changed my squishy [back] and thighs into sculpted thighs with NO cellulite and a beautiful [back] (not one line or lump or bump, smooth booty)it was a wonderful feeling to put on shorts or a bikini with so much pride and confidence.My abs were like a washboard...I recently decided to start working out again and I was looking through old photos and came across a pic of myself in a bikini shot that I took on that island and then I said to myself TAE-BO!!!!I have to laugh because I always refer to those days as my glory days and when people would ask how I did it I would say "tae-bo basic" and low carbs...anyway the point is that I know it works...trust me.Needless to say, the tapes were borrowed and never returned to me and so after googling them, I found them on amazon and I purchased the basic tape and I am eagerly awaiting its arrival (I mean literally twiddling thumbs in excitement).If you want a sculpted body and a relatively manageable (you can get throught it) workout tai-bo basic is for you.I had bought the tae-bo live a couple years ago to get the same effect but I couldn't follow through it was too hard, I felt drained after, that's why I am endorsing the BASIC ORIGINAL tape because I was able to stick to it.Anyway sorry for the long review but I just had to add my 2 cents.For all the people out there, especially the ladies that are fighting to get back muscle tone and are not afraid of a sculpted cellulite free body, do tae-bo ORIGINAL BASIC workout and eat healhty meals limiting the food you know is crap and you will see results, well I did so it's worth a try. ... The only butt routine i have found that really works!
I accidentally gave this tape away and now am going to buy a new one. I wanted a DVD so I tried the newer buns of steel DVD's, but none of them do the floor work outs. Greg gets you on the floor to really target all kinds of muscles in there that you didn't even know you had. And he makes sure you are in the right position and understand the move before starting each one. All the other DVD's just have you do squats and lunges over and over and it can be rough on your knees and they go fast without concern of tequnique or injury. Each one of Gregs exercises is unique and does not hurt your back or knees. I am an athlete, and let me tell you this video will give you above and beyond what just rigourous excercise can do. It gives you shape, form and reduction of cellulite in those very difficult areas! And greg is not annoying, at no time do you want to slap him like those peppy ladies. He is nice and encouraging

I did not think this tape would have such an effect on my lower body.I never had done it before and my aunt gave it to me so I thought I would give it a try.Me and my mom went through the whole and by the end I was going to beg for mercy.

Richard is the best!!!!!!!!!
Richard's workouts are very awesome, he is very incouraging and helpful. Just like most of his videos, he always has the everyday kinda person in them, all shapes and sizes, and thats a big incouragement. This video I think out of all the sweatin to the oldies, is the best, it's very energetic and makes you really sweat, but yet you feel really good after the workout, not like most that make you feel exasted! Richard is just the best! I know he is helping me through a tough time with my weight and i'm slimmin down wonderfully! What a fun and motivating workout!!
Believe it, this tape is super!I have several workout tapes and get so ultra bored but not with this one.
I always come back to this one
I'm actually just 22 yrs old, but I have struggled with my weight all of my life and everyday of it. My appreciation for Richard Simmons began when I was a young child. My mom loves him and when the original Sweatin to the oldies came about, she and her sisters passed it around. I always ended up "sweatin" along with my mom whenever she'd do it, but not to lose weight, just to have fun. Finally in junior high I began to realize I needed to make a serious change and I began doing Richard's tapes almost every night. Midway thru highschool, I had dropped almost 60 pounds and I credit him with a lot of my success. This specific video is tops. I don't like "Sweatin" 2 very much for whatever reason and the first one got old a long time ago, but somehow it stands that this one is a keeper for me.My favorite ditty is "I get around"...it's actually surprisingly vigorous for Richard! Because these videos aren't overloaded with tough moves, it's easier to do them daily, which to me is the healhiest idea. Light-moderate exercise each day until the weight comes off! GOOD LUCK! ... Awesome abs!!
This video offers a great ab workout.I've already worn out two videos and I am now on my third tape.I've used this video for over eight years and never get bored.The exercises are always effective - even after all these years.I really appreciate Tamilee's knowledge and experience.

Great abdominals
Tamilee Webb really knows what shes doing.This tape a three seperated ab workouts for three seperate days.I got this tape a while back now and it still works.My abs really took shape.I do this tape with my other workouts for added variety.Let me tell you this is one of the best abs tape ever made.I have a lot of abs tapes that I use from the Firm,Denise Austin and others,I like them alot too.This is my favorite.It makes want to check out the other Abs of steel tapes.I think I will.You people who have not tried this yet,Let me tell.BUY IT

Tamilee's abs workout is great. She provides three 10 min workouts that you alternate with. This ensures the you never plateau. Her instruction is clear and easy to follow. You even get a glut workout too. To see results, however, you must follow her program regularly. This multilevel class is safe for and accessible to beginners, and just right for intermediates. Three of Fonda's able and motivating instructors teach the 45-minute step class. Half the room does lower-intensity moves; the other uses higher steps and higher-intensity techniques. The teaching technique is excellent: a pattern is taught on the floor before taking it up on the step. One participant does the routines totally without the step to guide beginners or others who don't feel comfortable using the step. Very basic, buy very enjoyable...
I really liked this workout, I have been a regular exerciser for nearly 3 1/2 years and would consider myself intermediate where stepping is concerned.I have found that I prefer low impact step workouts with simpler choreography.Plus, I do most of my cardio following strength training, so I need something easy to follow and something that will give me a good workout without being overly taxing.This one fits the bill for me.
Great step workout from Jane
I loved this workout.I thought it was very intense and easy to follow.The ab portion at the end of the tape is very effective.Jane just does the ab portion though.There are three of Jane Fonda`s instructers leading the step routine.I think they are very good at instructing and they cue well.

This workout is the best I have tried, and the only one that work for me..It will help you loose pounds and keep you on shape.

Oldie but Good Goodie
I love this JF tape so much that when my old copy was no longer playable I ordered another one and will continue to do so. This tape is great for it's time and even better today. The exercise really do tone and strech the body, giving me the longer slimmer look I love. It's tough, don't be fooled but worth it in the end I also found it to be a great stress reliever.
very good early workout
I am a big fan of Jane Fonda.Her tapes are my second favorite.This a very good total body workout that will tone your whole body.The leg and butt work is really good.I like to add ankle weights when I am doing so.I also like to add wrist waists to the arm section.This is also one of the best tapes for improving flexibility.The only thing is I wish it had a longer cardio part,other than that it is a very good tape a CLASSIC ... amazing
i remembre first finding callanetics,about ten years ago,and i have to say after getting very big with each child,callan always brings me back to an amazing beautiful body.
Take your time and keep doing it!
I did callanetics at a gym about 6 years ago, and I remember dropping 1 dress size after only one month.Then life got in the way and I stopped doing it.When I saw this tape on Amazon, I had to buy it.I've been doing the tape for the past 2 weeks, and I have to tell you, I can feel my body getting firmer and more flexible.The exercises are hard, so don't let Callan's soft tone and slow pace fool you.Take your time and don't be discouraged.Some reviews complained about how boring the music and Callan are.I turn the radio on in the background while I do the tape to alleviate that problem.Slow and steady wins the race.Take your time, keep the right form, and you'll be fine.

Great workout video
I love Callanetics! I am very athletic and have extremely musclular thighs, I always have since I was little. So I don't like to workout with weights at the gym that much because I start bulking up even when I am doing lots of cardio. Anyways I started swimming and doing Callanetics and yoga and I really have liked the result. I feel as if my legs look a lot leaner more like a dance than a body builder. I also like doing the quick calanetic tapes if you just want to work on one troublesome area. Although this tape is 80's style Its definitely a keeper. A Classic That Doesn't Let Up!
This video may be 20 years old, but it stands the test of time.If you can get past the dated clothes and music, you have in your hands an excellent workout that will challenge you for years to come.The routine has a mix of cardio, weights and floor work.In my opinion the floor work is the most challenging-- I hit muscle failure many times today.Susan Harris, the instructor, frequently mentions going at your own pace, and I think this is the key.Use weights if you can.Do as many reps as you can.This will not only give you goals to work toward but allow to you see progress over time.If you're looking for a cardio-heavy, total low impact workout, this is not the tape for you.However, if you can handle a little jogging in place and want to really challenge your muscles, give this one a try.The Firm video series has flourished for 2 decades, and this video is one reason why!

One of the best tapes ever made
This is one of the most great tapes in the world.I love everything about it.The music is beautiful,the mansion setting is breath taking and the instructer Susan Harris is wonderful.There is nobody I think better than Susan Harris.I was doing other things to get into shape and nothing was working good.When I was looking through my mom`s old tapes I picked this one up and started doing it.After that I was hooked I tell you.
The best for people who work from home/ El mejor para gente que trabaja desde su casa
I started using this tape two years ago. I have three young kids and work from home. I'm a writer, which means lots of sitting time and stress--no time to go to the gym. This tape meant a dramatic difference for me. At age 40 I feel stronger, healthier, and more productive :-) The better I feel, the more creative and alert I am. Although I've bought more FIRM tapes and DVDs, this continues to be my very favorite (but the others are great too). A review was long overdue!

Step It Up With Cher....Keli Roberts Instructs...
There are 77 reviews here already for "Cherfitness: A New Attitude" and the average rating is 5 stars. That is about right, and I'd like to add my 5 star rating as well. But I would say this is not for those who are just getting into workouts, or have been out of it for a while. For those I would suggest Jane Fonda's startup program for very beginners or "The Fix - A Dance workout" for coming back after being away for a while, which has 3 programs, to help you burn calories and firm up. However, if you have been doing aerobics for a while and want to step up the intensity of your work out, you will love the step work out here. You will burn more calories then with regular floor aerobics, and the instructor is one of the best. Keli Roberts.
Great Music! Great Step Routine!
I love the step workout. If I only have 10 minutes to work out, I'll stretch first, then start wherever I last left the tape cued up. Music is great. Cher is good about cheering you on without being cutesy.

The best thing about this prenatal yoga program is that there is a modelfor each trimester. I had a wonderful birth!
I used this DVD throughout all of my pregnancy and it was wonderful. It reall taught me to relax and breath. It also helped me stretch my body in ways that were healthy for me and my baby. I had a wonderful birth, naturally and without pain. I feel this DVD was responsible for much of my peaceful birthing experience.

Shiva Rea has an amazing ability to help you find peace and calm during this joyous and sometimes emotionally unstable time. The poses are gentle and flowing and offer a great way to maintain strength and flexibility throughout all three trimesters. Wonderful!
i'v had this dvd for years but never tried it.i have been suffering from hip pain, not when i walk but after i sit for a while and then get up, it hurts and i limp.i decided to try this dvd and after a few days the hip problem is no longer a problem so i am very happy with the quick results!am is easier than pm but i keep at it and i'm sure i'll get better with time.

I'm 22 and I STILL Love this workout.My mom used to use it when I was really little and I loved the singing in the workout :-)I prefer DVD to VHS and unfortunately... This one couldnt come along for the change...But a lot of these exercises are spectacular*There are pilates moves in the video that work out your abs, butt and thighs.I still do a lot of these exercises on my own when I feel the new exercise dvds dont hit the spot enough.

the beg. section has 12 min of cardio. 12 min? that sounds like nothing right? but trust meeee, it will def. get you sweating, esp if you really push yourself and put energy into it.
Best workout tape I have ever bought!
This is the best workout tape I have ever bought.I read all the reviews on amazon and I was curious what everyone one was talking about, now I know.Thisvideo is encouraging, it really make you push yourself.I really hate cardio workouts with steps that go on forever.However this cardio is fast upbeat and a challenge.The toning segments, despite being over a decade old are still a challenge.I recommend this video if you really need that extra push to get your exercise routine going.This tape features two workouts it is worth the investment.

Sweat!
I have been stepping for some time now and found this video to be clear and easy to follow with alot of basic moves.It definitely was a workout and I am drenched when I finish. The moves are not too complicated so a beginner could follow along but you also get a work out if you have been stepping for awhile.

Still the best....
I haven't done my step in 2 years (replaced by the treadmill). I have so many videos -- all the Reeboks, Kathy Smith, etc.I pulled this video out to try my step again as a break from running/walking and I'd forgotten HOW MUCH I LOVE IT!!!This tape is still the best of all of 'em -- the drumming, the simple yet beneficial moves... an overall great workout. Intense Moves and the Power Workout (both Reebok) are also GREAT videos but much more challenging.Welcome back, step!

This is my first and still favorite step video.It is a great beginner workout, with each step slowly being built up from previous moves.The video teaches you the terminology of step such as "repeaters" for 3 successive leg lifts.

Good Concept, Too fast
To be honest, I can't see how a lot of people have given this workout 5 stars.I love the concept but this advanced tape is poorly done.First, the stretching at the beginning is ridiculous - way to fast for a warm up/stretch (practically gave me whip lash when I did the neck stretches).This was the biggest disappointment.Second, the double time movements are impossibe to do correctly (due to the speed) and dangerous.Third, the video quality is the worst I have ever seen and it seems like the routine was put together in one take without proper editing, cueing, etc. A workout for martial artists
As a martial artist for 5 years, I have high recommendations for this video.The key is to adjust it to your own capabilities.Some of the moves are VERY high impact (for example, the jumping front kick) and will wreck your knees or ankles if you do them repeatedly.In addition, some of the moves are so fast they don't allow you to focus on the muscles you're working out.As long as you take this video at your own pace, it's great! Good workout, but really annoying problems
Overall, I'd say this is a good workout.The cardio is intense and you really get the chance to tone your muscles.It's a fast way to work out your entire body.However... the sets are really uneven and proper form is often sacrificed for speed.Billy goes off on "inspirational" tangents while you're left doing multiple extra sets.I've been doing this tape five days a week for the last six months and have actually seen a noticeable difference in the toning on one side of my body!That's how off kilter the sets are.Also, there are several moves where he takes you into "double-time" where you are asked to do the move so quickly, any hope for maintaining proper form flies out the window.Even the people on the tape have poor form during these sets.I usually maintain "single-time."I keep better form, get the same results, and minimize the risk of injury.Even with these problems, I still like Tae Bo and I'm still doing the workout (I've just switched sides so I can even out my muscle tone)!I wouldn't recommend buying this Advanced Workout but maybe the "Live" version is better... Great yoga!
I would recommend the Crunch-Fat Burning Yoga DVD for anyone - whether it's your first yoga attemptor you are at a higher level of yoga. It's interesting and easy to follow and you feel like you've done your stretches as well as burned some fat after you've finished the DVD. Sara Ivanhoe is a great instructor and you don't get tired of her.
Great Yoga Tape? I do not think so!
I think there are two major problems with this tape. First, in no way it is suitable for beginners. Instructor cuesfor breathing are inconsistent, about 50% of the time there is no cueing at all. Her cues for poses are very poor, she mostly mentions if the pose is hard to do or not. You cannot follow her without looking at your TV screen, and if you do not know which muscles to flex or stretch, 50% of the time she is not going to tell you. The program does contain two levels, for more and less flexible. Yet, transition from one pose to another is so quick that you can barely get your balance. Try Jane Fonda Yoga instead, or (and) Kundahlini yoga.

GREAT WORKOUT!
I've seen the Pilates infomercials for a while now, but have been intimidated by the seemingly impossible movements. When I found this inexpensive "For Dummies" DVD, I decided to give it a try.
