Buckle Your Seat Belts!
...because this is one quick story! Is it wrong to think that five hours isn't enough time for so lengthy a subject? In this case, it didn't seem like enough, but I understand that the producers had to stop somewhere.
All the World Loves a Lover
Prior to encountering Sr. Wendy, I liked art.Through Sr. Wendy, I have come to love it.One might first be struck by her rather odd appearance -- she is a rather frumpy nun.But the second thing one notices, and what one is ultimately swept up by, is her passion for art. wow?
Who'd've thought that a nun, a woman dedicated to a life of religion and chastity and serving the church would have such an insight on the sexual content of works of art?Well, that sounds a bit ignorant on my part, but Sister Wendy does do an excellent job at giving us a guided tour and commentary of some of history's most beloved and admired works of art.Some works are not included in art history books used by educational institutes and some are so discussed that the viewer can almost take pride in hearing that Sister Wendy shares their opinion.This is a great collection to add to any art education/art history curriculum (high school/college and edited versions for middle school). ... Elmo's immature days
My 23 month old is now settling into this one.I bought it becasue I figured there'd be a lot of ELMO for her and there is...BUT these are the early days of Elmo when he was very one dimensional--a bit unruly, shouting a lot like a spoiled child.Sesame St has really developed the Elmo character into a kinder, gentler, smarter 5 year old monster.
WONDERFUL VIDEO!
My 14 month old loves this one so much that our tape is dying, must be time to buy the DVD.It's very cute and constant songs get her attention.

Sea Nasties
This is a wonderful movie.It combines the hilarity of Leslie Neilson with education in an attempt to dispell the myths of the dangers of the ocean.It talkes about many of the oceans dangerous creatures from jellyfish to conesnails.It tells very factually about the creatures, how dangerous they are, and how you can avoid the danger.Neilson keeps the movie light while providing information on the dangers in the sea and just how mythical they are.I am a marine biologist and I found the movie to be very accurate though it was a bit dramatic. ... Not as good as I hoped
I got this video for our son who is 19 months and has not talked yet. He did not like the video and I thought it would be more then just them showing a picture of a train and the word and saying it once, and then showing a few different trains and then moving on to a new word. Our son loves the baby Einstein videos and we also got him the video called baby babble, which I found to be better, so you may want to check out that video.

Good but not great
With all versions of the Bee Smart Volcabulary Builder, my 22 months absolutely loves these tapes. The music is relaxing and the pictures are interesting. However, he has yet to speak his first words and the tapes have not improved his speech delay.

Recycled Imagery; Biased Narration
All - Nicholas II, entire family, Rasputin - are depicted in the same inaccurate, flat caricatures as those created by the Revolutionary propagandists.Anna Vyrubova is not discussed at all, nor does she appear in any of the photography. To give the crumb of credit where it is due, this film does contain bout 2 minutes worth of engaging footage of the Romanov children at play.Otherwise, it offers only still photographs most people interested in Russian history have seen before and often. "To the victor go the spoils," including the "right" to revise history. I was disheartened when I saw this film because the greater part of it is Bolshevik propaganda from the Revolution. Sure, there are facts, like dates, locations, little things like that.But instead of truly researching the person of Tsar Nicholas II, the Geographic people were content to simply regurgitate what the party-line of the Soviet Union had been in regards to the Tsar. Obviously this information is very biased. Unfortunately, since most information about the Tsar that we have today was written after the Revolution, either by the Soviets or by people who had the Soviets as their sole source of information, one really cannot find a non-biased source. There is, of course, the Russian Orthodox Church, but scholars seem to view them as being an even more biased source than the Soviets were. In any case, take the statements in this film with a BOULDER of salt.

Well-done, excellent way to meditate
I really liked this DVD.The scenery is beautiful and helps you to get relaxed.The gentle music in the background is soothing.You can tell Maritza has been doing this for years.Her voice is easy to listen to and directs you in your practice with ease.Very professionally done.The warm-up yoga portion is effective.Her two different meditation sessions are worth the time and energy to get you in a state of calmness and peacefulness.Give this DVD a try.This DVD helps you to slow down your thoughts and alleviates stress.

Great meditation program
This is a wonderful program. I have read many books and tried many ways to meditate and I find this program excellent. I recommend it to all.
THE BEST MEDITATION GUIDE I HAVE TRIED
Learning to Meditate is not easy! I have a problem keeping my mind from roaming. I think any time we are serious about learning anything new, most of us are looking for the magic bullet-the ONE perfect answer to making it all happen. This DVD is so far the BEST I've tried.After about a week & a half of consist practice at the same time every morning my mind still wanders, but I can feel a change in the depth of my concentration. Maritza knows you will have a wandering mind, & she tells you in softly accented French to leave judgments behind. Ballet 101, A Beginner's Class
Good to practice to as a supplement to a beginner's ballet class.She takes on a lot, so it is good to pause between steps that are presented.

Great for absolute beginners!
As a complete beginner, I appreciated the appropriate pacing. The video progresses at a nice slow pace and all the moves are repeated a couple times to give the viewer time to adjust and make the moves correctly. The instructor also shows all moves from both the left and the right side, which is helpful. There's a nice combination movement at the end where you can put all your 'skills' together in one final grand mini-movement. This is not like a typical workout video where you sweat buckets after the class (like a cardio video), but it is definitely challenging, especially if you are a non-dancer, and great fun if you love the ballet. I have only one complaint: the dancers do not do their movements in mirror image so you can just copy them literally... if you're supposed to go to the right, then the dancers go to the right as well (which is left when you're watching them). This is a bit off-putting for me since I am used to just copying instructors in the front of me literally. But after all, this is a tape and you can pause, stop, rewind, etc whenever you want. Highly recommended for beginners!

Hello 1972!!
Just warning you that this video was made in 1972!! and you can tell, the hippies make you laugh a little. Other than that, it was a great video, teaches easy massage technique that any one can learn. My husband and I watched the video together, and we both learned how to give a nice massage. I never expected to get an hour massage from my husband, but I did with this video!!
Complete Body Massage with all the trimmings
Well organized, lovely to look at (nudity wtihout the clumsylewdness that infects some massage videos) and comprehensive, this is a video to share with a loved one. It's more an experience, than a video presentation. The introductory material takes you through preparing a massage area from scratch (easy!), setting up some massage oil, relaxing your partner and providing soothing background stimulation like music and scent. Magnificent!
This is the classic, perfect presentation of scale, presenting both a realistic picture of the wide variations in the Universe and our own nearly random place in it.I first came across this film (actually it was the "rough sketch" version) at the Ontario Science Center in the 1970s.I must have sat through the film loop at OSC a dozen times.I never tire of it.

One of the greatest films ever made
It is impossible to overstate how amazing this little movie is.I still remember seeing it for the first time, at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C., at the age of nine, wearing my Boston Red Sox baseball cap.I think I literally had to be dragged away, I just wanted to see it again and again. I found this movie full of more information than I personaly needed. It is full of facts and fictions of Clones and provides a brief history of cloning. Personaly I belive this can help sort out some of the miths of cloning and straighten out some of the clone stories out there.

Tae Bo Advanced Live, Vol. 3
I've tried lots of Tae Bo tapes.My favorites are the advanced Get Ripped series which I use about 4 days a week.The Advanced Live, Vol.3, is very good, maybe a little less intense.I like the music on it too.And as always, Billy Blanks is very inspirational.

THE BEST TAEBO I'VE TRIED
This is the best Taebo workout I've tried yet! I've done several of the Advanced and Live series as well as Cardio and this has surpassed them all in terms of difficulty and overall conditioning. It ends with an awesome leg workout that really burns! AWESOME!

You drip with sweat!

I Don't Know Why, But It Works!
My ADHD son has always had a hard time with math concepts. For some reason, these fast paced and fun videos make math "click" in his brain.They might not work well for someone with a "normal" functioning brain and very well might make them nervous and flustered. It would be really great if they would make two versions of these videos...one fast, one slower. I will be buying them all before wer're said and done.

10 and up?...
The box said ages 10 and up, but I would say 12 and up is more accurate.The average ten year old might feel overwhelmed. My fourth grade sister understood more than I thought she would, but she has had lessons in fractions before.The video is not as corny as I thought it would be.Kids in junior high would probably get a kick out of it.This is a good supplement or teaching aid, but maybe not the best introduction since it goes so fast (it certainly can't be used alone in teaching fractions).The fact that the video goes so fast is where it fails. ...
