This Sundance Festival sensation has attracted attention because of its jarring images of Amish kids immersed in debauchery: plain-dressed girls in white bonnets slugging back beers and flicking ashes from their cigarettes, boys passing out in the back of pickups after all-night parties, even Amish teens in bed together. But like a good drama, it's the characters themselves and their heartbreaking dilemma that linger in the mind. In the Amish vernacular, "Devil's Playground" refers to the "English" or outside world. The protected teens are suddenly thrust into this world upon their 16th birthday as they begin "Rumspringa," a period during which they decide whether to join the church as adults. Crystallizing this predicament is the 73-minute documentary's most compelling figure, 18-year-old Faron, a preacher's son fighting drug addiction. Informative Yet Disturbing
Sex, drugs, heavy metal/rap music, Nintendo. These are not things one would normally associate with the Amish, but there you go, it's time to learn about DEVIL'S PLAYGROUND
Actually very interesting no matter what your religious affiliation
This documentary answers the question that most of us not raised in constrictive religious homes ask about the very (usually rightwing) religious - do these people ever misbehave without severe trauma? Apparently the Amish let their kids misbehave for a great length of time in order to show them how empty the secular world is. As one of the characters puts it towards the end "most Amish see Rumspringa as their inoculation against the secular lifestyle."

My Insight .....
In Orlando, FL. back in 1996, I was so fortunate to first meet Larry Williams teaching at an investment conference (Bob comments briefly on Larry's success in His particular investment specialty in the movie) . Unfortunately I ignored Larry's too brief and humble comment about a Mt. Sinai book he additionally had on his website. I was shocked on a particular Friday one year later when Larry's new book on investment charting I had ordered arrived at the door- the EXACT NIGHT the 700 CLUB was having a telethon. I woke-up just in time to see Bob Cornuke (and a video trailer with Larry by his side; both off in world explorers mode) talking with Lisa the co-host of the CLUB making this INCREDIBLE VIDEO, along with Its companion- The Mystery of the Ark of the Covenant, available to the viewers.

I loved this video,but i implore everyone who's seen it to watch 'The Exodus revealed'to see where the real red sea crossing took place.Both videos agree on the true location of Mt Sinai but the latter shows another land bridge north of this one surrounded by submerged chariot wheels-incredible!So if you put both videos together you will get the complete truth.

Our Favorite Favorite Biblical Documentary!
How do you get your elementary school kids to sit through a documentary about how we can believe the Bible?This show is more like a detective story with a middle-eastern flair!You may need to discuss with your kids that the explorers did use deception to get into the country (not very easy).But except for that blemish, the documentary is a very high quailty production, and interesting.My kids were so excited about the video that they 1) Begged Grandma to watch it, 2)Wrote a letter to Cornuke & Williams, and 3) Love playing the board game, "THE LOST MOUNTAIN OF GOD" based on this video.Watch after reviewing the story of Moses and the Exodus.Keep a globe or world map handy for some geographical references.Family education/entertainment with a message that God is awesome and the Bible is true! ... Inspirational despite the naysayers
I've seen the video (and Transformations II which I wish Amazon also carried and highly recommend it to anyone even if you only come out with a renewed committment to individual prayer -- something that is the 1st and foremost key (with reading the Word) to success in the ongoing Christian life. It is also invaluable as inspiration for corporate prayer. Have you ever seen a church in rivival (consistent miracles, spontaneous conviction of sin and willing obedience to the steps to salvation, gifts of the spirit operating within Corinthian guidelines)without a sustained inercessory prayer group? Neither have I. Yet the naysayers (who probably are in dead (no spirit) churches or no church at all)pick apart that which is NOT Otis' calling -salvation. His calling is corporate prayer by believers. Otis presupposes (and teaches) that prayer warriors who would get involved in this kind of prayer (or any intercessory prayer) are already saved and filled with the Spirit. Otherwise the person would find themselves like the example in Acts: beat up stripped and naked by demons. "We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Transformations Bologna?
There have been several websites that have questioned the facts in this video. If you buy or view this video I recommend you do the same. About a year ago I personally e-mailed Mareth Warren at the Sentinal Group who forwarded it to another (can't remember his name)requesting a refutation. The staff member responded that they were planning to post a refutation to their critics claims on the Sentinal web site; I'm still waiting. Revival is happening now!

A wonderful introduction

This video, dated to say the least, gives false and misleading information.
A horrifying reality
I was eight months pregnant and couldn't sleep.At 2am I turned on the TV and saw this video.I was shocked and appalled and deeply disturbed but I was compelled to continue watching.I was moved to tears and disgusted by the horrific awful reality of the real life abortion that showed a fully developed fetus being pulled apart limb by limb and placed on an adjacent table to make sure all body parts were accounted for.Gruesome, real, disturbing.Read more

Needs work...
This video starts off with a clever introduction and a sincere plea for viewers to "think for themselves". However, towards the end of the video, the tone changes from neutral to okay think our way instead. I felt like there were not enough references to the books used, information about the researchers' backgrounds, and some arguments were weak. With more organization, better citing of source information, and incorporating other perspectives, this would be a great documentary.

More needs to be done!
I must applaud PBS for such a splendid job.I am often surprised how little is known about the glorious past of this civilization. More should be done to educate the public about this abrahamic faith which is followed by more than a quarter of the world's population. It is precisely such efforts that will help promote global peace.
More Mockumentary Than Documentary
I just finished watching this entire *ahem* historical documentary, and I will never be able to get back the three hours of my life I spent watching this video.
Empire of Faith
I enojoyed this DVD thoroughly. it provided great insight on the history of Islam and corrected many myths. You got a chance to learn about the different conquerers of the Islamic Caliphs, and also the plentiful contribution that Islamic Scholars made to the world but were never credited for. i would recommend this DVD to any Muslim or Non Muslim. The only drawback in my opinion was that there were too many Caucasion narrators and Scholars speaking on Islam.I do not know if they were Muslim or not, but i did not get that impression. ... Very Nice
My wife and I enjoyed this look at the Missions very much. We had our first daughter baptised in San Diego and thought the Mission was beautiful. We are now planning future trips to see the other Missions featured in thevideo. R. J. Adams offers a fine presentation of all the Missions and it isdefinately worth buying.

SAD TRUTH ABOUT THE ONGOING HOLOCAUST IN THE USA
This film is difficult to watch. It is short, yet you will never forget what you will see during this brief presentation. Some thirty-five million unborn American children have had their lives brutally snuffed out in utero.This film demonstrates the brutality of this so called "proceedure". It also demonstrates how well developed even the earliest aborted unborn babies are. This film was made by a group of individuals who filmed the remains of little unborn children found in a dumpster behind an abortion clinic in Houston, Texas. Fundamentalist Pseudoscience
Recently I had a "Dr" Kent Hovind tract dropped into my car by an apparently "concerned Christian."I did a little research on "Dr" Hovind and was absolutely appalled at how successful this individual has been at propagating the most idiotic drivel as "science." Perhaps "Dr" Hovind can succeed at convincing you that gravity is "only a theory," that good Fundamentalists should reject the lie that pi doesn't equal precisely 3, that Earth is really flat and that the "geocentric theory" is actually true...For some interesting reading on "Dr" Hovind's wacky ideas on conspiracies, guns, ethics, science and even anti-Semites like Michael Hoffman and the notororious "Protocols of the Elders of Zion," do a little research online.You might be surprised and, I hope, as appalled as I was.This guy is dangerous.

Video only makes sense if you don't check the facts
This video is great for families who want to make their children believe a certain religious doctrine. But, only if they do not mind deceiving their own children with claims that can easily be debunked with minimal research. Hovind has made millions of dollars by firing off hundreds of "facts" at audiences that do not know enough about the related science to see through the sham. If any other viewers of this video think it's full of facts, they need only choose two or three claims and research them in their local library. For example, they'll find that he takes quotations out of context, making the viewer think a respected scientist has refuted evolution. Looking up the full quotes reveals the speaker was actually making a strong point in favor of evolution. Hovind has no qualms about such deceptions, having used them in numerous videos and public appearances over the years. Even his numbers and dates are frequently way off target. Of course, the broader point is that his underlying claim has no supporting evidence. He can only try to trick viewers into thinking every scientist, professor, geologist and physicist on earth is lying because they're controlled by demons.

Dr. Dino's videos are always timely and funny, but true. However...

Can we say WAKE UP CALL!!
This video is absolutely amazing.Watched it 4 or 5 times and still get something new.If you want to see clearly about what is happening in the music industry. You've gotta see this.

The FACTS are irrefutable.
The "viewer from FPO, AP United States", who didn't have the guts to post his/her name, doesn't think that rock stars are possesed by demons. You can 'think' whatever you want but facts are facts and are irrefutable and are not subject to your personal opinions. You can think that 2 + 2 doesn't equal 4, but that's just too bad, it does equal four whether you think it does or not. Certain, and perhaps most or even all, rockstars are BY THEIR OWN ADMISSION possessed by demons and if you would have actually watched the video you would have seen that. That's just a plain and simple fact, they said it themselves, wrote it in books, sang it in their lyrics, and said it right on camera! Watch the tape, you'll see it for yourself straight from their own faces. You'll even see footage of possesion right on stage. My friend Karlmax Kathiany from Kenya mentioned that while in Zambia praying for a demon possesed woman with other church members that the woman's voice changed to that of a man and began to say "you cannot have her she belongs to me". This is not uncommon in exorcisms, to hear voice changes or even multiple voices coming from just one person. Ask anyone who's witnessed an exorcism, they'll tell you. On this video, you'll see footage of Jim Morrison of the Doors right on stage doing the same thing. He's reciting unintelligible poetry to some rock music and during the reciting his voice changes into a woman's voice. These folks are possesed by devils and you will not deny it. You will repent of your error and pray that God will deliver these "musicians" from the grip of satan. To God be the glory in the name of His Son Jesus Christ for ever and ever, Amen.

Seeing WIth New Eyes
I am a musician.The point of this video is not that some rock stars have been duped into promoting evil...that's a given if you listen to lyrics.The point is that there IS an unseen world, there IS an enemy to everyone living, he HAS spent thousands of years promoting his lies in whatever packaging sells, and music IS one of his most often used avenues to try to steal from, kill and destroy not only those who perform and promote various styles of music, but all of us who hear it.Read more
