5-0 out of 5 stars perfect for beginners to intermediate
This is a great workout.I was a rank beginner when i started and i could manage the first workout right away.Doing it daily I built up strength to do the second workout, which was my first introduction to yoga.I alternated the two at first; later I began to doboth workouts together, a total of 40 minutes. After using this dvd for about 4 months I had dropped two sizes (of course also radically changing my diet).
1-0 out of 5 stars Give me a 'real ' Pilates instructor,please
After working out from another Pilates instructor,I fould this one hard to take.
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Video
I used this video along with short walks almost exclusively to lose weight and the pounds and inches melted away. I couldn't believe how well it toned my whole body, not just one area. After a year of doing it and finally looking like a swimsuit model, I starting using the morning excercise programs on alternating days and had phenominal results. I lost 25 lbs in all. ... Editorial Review

This 40-minute 1997 video presents fit and lean Denise Austin on a beach leading you and her two assistants (one man, one woman) through a muscle endurance and strengthening workout with weights. Depending on your level, you might choose weights of one to 10 pounds. You want your muscles to fatigue after Austin's 13 to 18 controlled repetitions of each exercise. This workout is more challenging and more technique-oriented then most of Austin's. Austin switches muscle groups non-stop until you've worked all your major upper- and lower-body muscles. She gives plenty of technique and alignment tips so that you know how to do each exercise correctly. You'll need a bench or some kind of platform for some of the exercises. You can grow with this video--as you get stronger, use more weight. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy this video! It works.
My all time favourite toning video (and I have tried heaps)!I have had this for tape for about 5 years, and while MANY other tapes have come and gone from my routine, I keep coming back to this one. It works. I even have a back-up copy ready for when I eventually wear out my original copy!I haven't found the problems other people have mentioned on here, all I can say is that it's worth every cent.
5-0 out of 5 stars If you only have one, this is the Denise Austin tape to buy...
I have owned this tape since it came out in 1997.I used it religiously when I wasn't wise enough to rotate beyond two tapes.Eventually, it wore out and I apparently got rid of it a few years ago.I just ordered another new copy today.I own some of the best DVDs - Janis Saffell, Ellen Barrett, Minna Lessig, but this is a great video to return to, I feel Denise Austin's best ever.I'm not overweight or out of shape, but when I did this video 4x/week for two months getting ready for a vacation some years ago, I dropped several inches, which results I have not seen since.Denise is not overly annoying in this video and can keep count (which I find a problem with the Personal Trainer DVD).I would highly recommend this be added to your rotation, you will not regret it!

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad sound, difficult moves....
If you can get past the bad sound and video quality, good for you. This tape can really give you muscles, but it's not for beginners! The hardest parts are the ones that involve toning the arms (i.e. advanced push-ups). So wait until you've built up some muscles before you try this one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great video!!
Denise does it again.Hard to top her when it comes to spot toning.I like her chatter as it gets you through the workout
5-0 out of 5 stars I love this ab video!
I will still swear that Denise's "Super Stomachs" is my favorite ab video of all time but Get Fit Fast Abs is my number two. This video has three short 10-15 minute levels which is great for those who don't have a lot of time to devote to working out.The excercises are slow and controlled which makes them challenging.Denise spends a lot of time with her back ups demonstrating the correct form and is very motivating in all the right parts when you feel like giving up.I highly recommend this video if you want to see fast results from a short period of excercise time.

2-0 out of 5 stars Denise is no longer allowed in my house
my husband has heard enough about me complaining that Denise Austin makes videos that seem to put the body at risk, and these ab workouts might help some, but they are very hard on the lower back and caused my intense pain, i will not keep using this video, and think many people will agree that this video is not the best ab video for all levels, it is a typical Denise Austin video that will allow you and grate on your nerves, as she does so easily...try something else! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars irritating but effective
This video used to be the only one available for pregnant people. I have used it for three pregnancies, including my current one which is a twin pregnancy. The music is elevator Glori Estefan. Denise is a little too perky for the hormonal, the moves are dated and the costumes are ridiculous. That being said, it's great for begining exercisers or off days for those who are too tired for anything more intense. There are some weak toning exercises for the core and lower body after the 20 minute cardio segment. You could always put it on mute and listen to better music!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not if you're familiar with aerobics
This tape is ok for beginners (she takes time to explain proper positions, etc.) but I found it less than rewarding. Walking around while pumping your arms would have been as effective and cost much less!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good pregnancy and follow-up workout
I used this workout all through my pregnancy, clear up until a couple days before delivery. It was enough of a workout to get the blood pumping, but without raising my heart beat up past what doctors say is safe during pregnancy. Ask your doctor before doing the floor work portion of the workout in the last trimester though. This is a slower paced workout, but really helps keep problems like high blood pressure, weight gain and other pregnancy related problems to a minimum.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pleased with Pilates
Denise Austin's Pilates for Every Body is an excellent workout video emphasizing the core muscles of the lower back and abdomine.Denise uses stretching, resistance bands, and Pilates exercises, focusing on the quality, not the quantity of repetitions. She encouragesmore from experienced exercises and suggests some alternatives for beginners.I especially like using the resistance bands.Yes, I pleased with Pilates!

5-0 out of 5 stars NOT boring...
I am not a Pilates expert, or an expert of any kind of exercise, but I know what I like.I have many, many aerobics and Pilates videos, but this is the first and ONLY one that I do over and over.I agree that maybe it is not for beginners, but even as someone who started out with a very weak core, I found the exercises fantastic.I have done this video 1-2 times/week for about 4-5 weeks, now.I still can't believe it's not collecting dust like all my other videos.I understand that Denise's style is not for everybody, but I find that I start the workout with a 'ho-hum' attitude more often than I'd like to admit.By the end of the workout, I feel positive and strong.I don't need a workout to lull me right back to sleep....I need someone to change my attitude as well as my body, so Denise works for me!The exercises change often enough to keep me from getting bored.I really love this video.I can feel myself getting stronger, I work up a sweat, and get my heart pumping.I feel like I've DONE SOMETHING when I've finished!I highly recommend this for anybody who wants a total body workout.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get STRONG Abs - for Seniors, too!
This is my favorite Denise Austin tape - just LOVE it!Today, I'm a very fit64-year old, thanks in part to "Pilates for Every Body." For years, I'd concentrated only on fitness walking, gardening, and moderate-level exercises; without strength training, my body was aging way too fast:Before hiking up my fitness levels with Pilates, weight lifting and Kundalini Yoga tapes, my abs and arms were weak, and my back and sciatic nerves, often injured. So care was required, too.

Editorial Review

This 1997 beginning-level, interval-training workout alternatesintervals of 3-1/2 minutes of aerobic exercise with 1-1/2 minutes of strengthtraining, so your heart rate stays elevated for a total of 31 minutes. Theaerobic segments are simple steps, repeated frequently. Some are high-impact(jumping and jogging), and although Austin has two assistants, neitherdemonstrates low-impact alternatives, which would have given beginning andoverweight exercisers more options. The strength segments also could have beendesigned better. The first strength interval works the shoulder muscles, whichare small (especially in women) and fatigue easily, so they are thereforeusually worked later in a workout. Another exercise that Austin says targets thechest really doesn't, because it's done standing where gravity puts more of theload on the shoulders again. The shoulders get their third interval later on, soyour shoulders are likely to be tired, while the larger muscles of your chestand back get minimal work. After the interval workout, Austin does eight minutesof standing leg exercises and abs, and finally a stretch. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Too hard to follow...
I never got the hang of this, it was hard on my knees, and the music, although popular oldies from the 70s and 80s, was done by singers/groups other than the originals, so they didn't sound as good. I realize this may be for legal reasons, but then I couldn't keep up anyway. The worst Denise Austin workout since "The Complete Workout", which was bad enough.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not as impressed as I hoped to be
I purchased this video after reading reviews from other buyers.I was not as impressed as they were.Denise and the two backup workout people often become out of sync during the video - so you really need to pick one person and stick with them rather than watching anyone else or it throws you off.The cues are not timed very well so I had to watch the video more than once in order to keep up.The music did nothing for me.I agree that I ended up with a good workout.I was sweating at the end and I am sure I burned calories - but it is not going to be my favorite workout.I prefer the circuit workout Cathy Smith has out - much better coordinated and you get the same workout (in a little less time).

3-0 out of 5 stars Good workout, but a little hard on the joints
The only reason I'm giving this three stars is that this video is not for those who might have trouble with their joints.I have knee problems and found this workout really aggravated my knees and my back.I didn't feel really good as I usually do after a workout.I will say that the Ab portion of the video is excellent and that the entire video would be good for someone who does not have a problem jumping around.I don't find Denise Austin annoying - she looks wonderful and I'm sure she's doing her best to be encouraging.I purchased this video, Hit the Spot Abs, and Hit the Spot Thighs as a package deal and I must say the Hit the Spot Abs is also very good.I haven't tried the Hit the Spot Thighs yet. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Helped me lose 65 pounds!
I have never given birth and I love this video!I used it when I first started out dieting and exercising 3 years ago.I could not complete the aerobics part, first starting out. Now, 65 pounds lighter, I do the aerobics part once, rewind and jog in place while rewinding, then do aerobics again. That makes it lasst 55 minutes, and gives 25 minutes of aerobics. It is perfect for when the weather is too bad for walking.
3-0 out of 5 stars Just okay...
I tried this workout after my 2nd child was born(who is now 2 yrs old). I purchased this for about $2 from an outlet store a couple weeks before I gave birth. I rate it as just okay. I prefer aerobics that are more athletic style than dancey (I have 2 left feet). So, if you are more inclined towards the dancey style aerobics go ahead and try it out for yourself.
5-0 out of 5 stars nothing unsafe about it!
I have had 2 kids plus 5 knee surgeries, 1 shoulder surgery and the ligaments in my hips are very loose.I never found this tape to hurt (other than the muscles I never knew I had) any part or be dangerous in anyway and I am not a graceful person.I lost 10lbs in 2 weeks and did not change my eating habits.I was working out 5-7 days a week.I love how she is very energetic and supportive. It made me not quit even though the first 2 or 3 times I was tripping over my own feet. The only downfall is my vcr quit and this tape I dont know if it comes in a dvd.Im hoping it will, it is about the only thing I have found that my body responds too. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Made my arms toned and muscular!
This really helped me a lot. I didn't become bulky, and I didn't injure myself. I used Denise's tape carefully and the results were beautiful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Three great workouts
This is a great tape, as long as you can stand Denise Austin's nonstop bubbly encouragement about how you'll be able to wear sleeveless dresses (when all you really wanted was some extra toning so you'd run a better5K).The three ten-minute workouts are very thorough, each one workingarms, shoulders, and bust.I like the variety and the get-down-to-businessattitude.Maybe I'll play it on "mute," but I'll be using thisone quite a bit.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST VIDEO IN DENISE AUSTIN'S HIT THE SPOTS SERIES
I own all the videos in the Hit The Spot Series, but I think Arms & Bust is the the best. Denise really concentrates on all area of the arms. You will look toned up, never bulky. The tape is one of the best I'veowned! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great lower body workout!
Now, let me tell you something: if you think Denise Austin's constance cheerleadering is annoying, I actually agree with you, but you won't be able to get annoyed while you are sweating away "the tush in the back of those legs", as she puts it, with this great lower body exercise video. If your hips, things and buttocks are the problem, this is the right video for you. Do it 3 times a week, alternated with some cardio, and you'll be amazed with the results. The exercise in this video really targets those trouble areas, and you'll feel it!5-0 out of 5 stars Great tape!
I think this tape is great! Not only does it work but Denise really gets you motivated. This is a great tape to do in the morning to get your body warmed up and stretched and is a short and sweet 30 minutes! Also, sinceI'm a child from the eighties, I like the background music and the bighair!

1-0 out of 5 stars Let's Excercise by Being Incredibly Annoying!
After reading three reviews, I decided to try Denise Austin's tape.I was frustrated by her over-rated enthusiasm, and the quality of the cheesy eighties background and attitude.Let's jump into the millenium by gettingrid of this video!I am in fairly good shape, and I work out about an houra day. However, with this tape I did not feel any sort of a difference inmy body. And on top of that, my back aches beyond belief after doing theworkout. Save yourself the money, and go jogging instead. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Overall Toning Workout
Definitely an 80's tape as far as hairdo's & clothing. However, the toning exercises are good.I started with this before moving up to weights.I still go back to it when I feel tired.Denise uses some suprisingly simple moves that work!

3-0 out of 5 stars Too much of one thing, not enough of another....
This video is somewhat difficult, even for a beginner. I'm only 20-25 lbs. overweight, and I had problems keeping up with this in some places. The arms, chest, legs, hips, abs, and butt are all worked, which is a good thing, but it was too fast and too repetitive! The abs and butt are especially boring to do, and so many repititions can cause fatigue early on. And why does Denise not show enough breathing and stretching techniques in this? Legs and buns are not the only thing that need to be stretched. She didn't show any ab or arm stretches, so the next morning, I had chest and stomach cramps from lack of proper stretching. So word of warning: after this tape, be sure to do more breathing and some stretches for the arms and abs. And work at your own pace, because she can go a little fast and a little too long for beginners.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great How-To Instructions with Most Exercises
Other reviewers have touched upon the dated fashions and rather mundane music in this video. If you can get past that, I think this is a worthwhile video to alternate with aerobic workouts. It's easy to learn, requires very little floor space, a provides a comfortable challenge.

5-0 out of 5 stars High Strung - a comical masterpiece
I saw this movie when i served in The Norwegian Artillery in 1995. We were posted in the Norwegian mountains, and to entertain ourselves me and my platoon buddies drove three norwegian miles down to the nearest "town" where we rented "High Strung" and some other crap Hollywood comedy.
5-0 out of 5 stars the greatest movie ever
this is without a doubt the greatest movie ever.it is genius.pure undiluted genius.everything in my life is so much better just because this movie exists.when i saw that they had it on amazon dot com i almost peed my pants with excitement.i first saw this movie when i was 13 and years later i am still OBSESSED with it.whenever someone asks me what my favorite movie is, i automatically say high strung even if i havnet thought about the movie for a long time.whenever I eat cereal i think fondly of too much cereal milk.and when i was in california last summer i saw a watermelon popsicle with seeds and almost had a stroke.if you havent seen this movie, you are not complete as a person.buy it now.I am going to.I'm actually about to cry I can't believe I'm buying high strung.HIGH STRUNG = GREATEST MOVIE EVER.so put that in your pipe and smoke it.
5-0 out of 5 stars this is one of the best movies ever
this is a b movie but is awesome. It is a lot like seinfeld the way the crapiest stuff happens to him and it seems every things going wrong for him. I would spend $20 on this movie I dont know if I would spend much more. Jim Carrey plays a very small role in this as the devil ... Read more

Editorial Review

"If you rest, you rust!" Denise Austin warns, and then she makes sure we neither rest nor rust with this high-intensity, aerobic kickboxing workout. "I want to see those muscles, yeah!" she calls out. "You've got 'em, use 'em!" This video starts with experienced kickboxers demonstrating the moves that will be used. Then it powers into two different, high-energy, 20-minute workouts. Austin calls the first workout "beginning." It's easier than the second, yes, and it may be basic as far as kickboxing goes, but it's anything but wimpy. If you're new to exercise or overweight, the many high-impact moves (lots of jumping rope and jumping jacks) might not be appropriate for you, and no one shows modifications. If the first workout is enough for you, you get a relaxing stretch and can stop the video. If it's not, continue with the "drills" workout (or you can start here once you've mastered the basics--Austin starts with a second warm-up). This segment builds on the moves you've learned, with more challenging combinations. If you're not an Austin fan, you may find her incessant talking annoying. Get past that, and this is great aerobic conditioning, muscle strengthening, and fun besides. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars You can do better...
As far as Denise Austin is concerned, this is probably the worst tape by her that I've come across (and I've tried quite a few of them!) She's quite obnoxious here, more so than she usually is, and is constantly shouting annoyingly lame phrases like "if you rest, you rust!" or "if you don't squeeze it (your [...]) no one else will!". Plus, the tape just screams cheesiness, b/c they start the workout using the "rocky" theme song. I literally winced when I first heard it, thinking "you've got to be kidding me..."
5-0 out of 5 stars Results!
Maybe I just have really high tolerance of supposed annoying people, but I LOVE Denise Austin. Her chants such as "You can do it!" and "Its worth it!" are fun to listen to and create a positive enviroment. This tape, although its hard and makes my calfs burn, is the one that gets me results fast! Within two sessions, I notice a difference. Ive tried the gym, Ive tried dancing at home, Ive tried running and somehow I always resort back to this tape. This one and her Fat Blasting Yoga DVD are incredible. Her cueing isnt the best, but its easy to catch on. I love Denise Austin, she's the only fitness instructor that I like listening to and watching. And Ive got great abs thanks to her!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not her best work.......
Well, this video was very drabby to me. It's kinda gray and black and there's not much vibrance to it. Denise can be inspiring at times but on this video she was mostly annoying with her, "yes, punch it, yes, come on, yes, that's it". If you close your eyes to this video, at times you may think your watching a "different" type of video. It was a bit over the top with her remarks. I do not think this is a begginer video at all. The back up work out people behind her looked rather clumbsey and asleep, missing que's and moving the wrong way, or off beat. Some of them even looked like begginers. I give it 3 stars because although it did get my heart pumping at times, it was not worth more then 3 dollars. ... Read more

This 1997 body-shaping workout is aimed at "beginners of all ages,"especially those who are reluctant to lift weights. The scene is a beach, whereperky Denise Austin takes you through a light, easy, safe, strengtheningworkout. She starts with standing leg lifts (holding onto a chair for balance)for the outer and inner thighs and hamstrings (the back of the thighs),including plenty of explanation along the way to help you know what musclesyou're using and how to work them correctly. You'll need dumbbells for theupper-body workout, and although Austin says you can use "soup cans" if youdon't own weights, you won't gain much strength that way. Even though the wholeworkout lasts only 30 minutes, Austin hits all the major muscle groups, including abdominal.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for a beginner.....
Very nice tape for the true beginner! It's a light, easy way to tone and firm your muscles, but at the same time you DO feel the exercises, so you know it's working. I've been using this tape for about 2 weeks now and I have already noticed some changes in my arms, legs, and back. The tape offers basic moves that anybody can do, which is great for me! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the warm-up and cool-down/stretch is a little too short. I also use Denise Austin's video "stretch & Flex" after this video to add in an extra cool-down. I do recommend you try this video!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners or the time crunched.
In just a half an hour, denise austin goes through a variety of moves to tone your whole body. The moves are basic, but it's good for the time crunched, fitting everything into a half hour with light stretch to follow. It's not the most challenging but when you need the assistance of a tape to get you disciplined and moving, it helps.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect
If you look at my other reviews, you can see I am a Denise Austin fan, and this video did not disappoint.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Secret All-time Favorite
Denise's Stretch and Flex video is one of my long-time personal favorites -- and I'm a Yoga instructor with twelve years of teaching experience. This is definitely my "stretch of choice", and I'm on my third copy of this video after two others wore out from years of constant use.The stretches are challenging enough to work, and more importantly, Denise stretches the entire body in sequence, going from head to toe so that no muscle group is ignored or glossed over.Years ago, I ran into a fellow Yoga instructor at Starbucks, and both of us admitted to doing this video on a regular basis. We agreed it was a "guilty pleasure".I've ordered this video for my daughter and for friends, and it's traveled on vacation with me all over the U.S.Many of these stretches ARE Yoga-based, but Denise's no-nonsense approach to them makes them accessible and do-able.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love It!!
I love using this tape after I workout, or if I just want to relax at the end of the day. I've been using it for a few weeks now and I've noticed a change in my flexibility, especially while working out. At first I couldn't do her floor stretches because it hurt too much, but now I can do them and it feels great!! I will continue to use this tape and I highly recommend it!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT RELAXATION TAPE
I am a big fan of Denise Austin and use many of her tapes, I found I was looking for just a stretching tape and this one is great, it has soft relaxing music playing in the background, and it flows nicely from one stretch to the next.At the end of the tape my whole body feels relaxed and I get a great nights sleep. If you are looking for a great tape to unwind too at the end of the day, I highly recommend this one. ... Read more

Rev up the speed that you need to burn calories by alternating these twobeginning-level cardiovascular workouts. Denise Austin (in a two-piece swimsuitand carrying no visible body fat) gives you two different 20-minute workouts inthis 1996 video. First is a low-impact routine with simple moves: marchesforward, knee lifts, side lunges, cha chas, and shuffles, for example, with evensimpler arm work. There are no patterns--just one move repeated a bunch oftimes, then another move, so this video is best for exercisers who don't want tothink about choreography. The setting is an outdoor park overlooking theocean.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite aerobics tape ever!
The first segment is so fun and you really work up a sweat. The moves seem simple but the way they're put together really makes you feel like you're getting a great workout. The second segment is definitely a challenge, the first couple times it was hard for me to get through them but each time it gets easier. I actually look forward to exercising every day. Now that's an amazing workout!

2-0 out of 5 stars ONLY for the super-coordinated
Denise Austin is very nice and fun to watch, and it is in a great beach setting, but her steps are soooo COMPLICATED, you need to be a dancer to do them. I have been doing FIRM workouts for years, and I don't get discombobulated very easy, but I felt like I was tripping over my own feet ("Okay, grapevine, boxstep, mambo, turn and jump!"). I almost landed on my head, and the funny thing is, she even trips over HER feet when she is doing it (Watch carefully...you'll see her stumble). How does she expect us to do it???
5-0 out of 5 stars "Cardio Made Fun"

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Workout
I consider myself an intermediate exerciser and I find this workout challenging. It is broken into circuits, with higher impact followed by some quick toning.I don't think the toning is enough to really build muscle, but the workout definitely gets my heart rate up.She doesn't use the step much, so if you are looking for a good step-aerobic workout--look elsewhere. Some of the circuits are a lot more challenging than others, I find three of the six difficult and three faily easy.Overall, it has a nice variety and is fun.I don't get bored and at 45 minutes, it is perfect for those workout days when you want something complete, but don't have a lot of time.I like to have a lot of variety available (The Firm, Tae Bo, and running are my staples, with the occassional random video thrown in), but even after three years, I keep coming back to this video.

5-0 out of 5 stars efficient overall workout
I've been working out with Denise's videos for years. This one is her best in terms of real cardio and toning.I like to alternate this one, which is very high impact, with cycling, the elliptical, or running (also high impact but better cardio). The moves are derived from sports, i.e., basketball, skiing, skating -- nothing "dancey."
4-0 out of 5 stars Circuit training fun, but riddled with mistakes
This is a good video in that the routine is constantly changing, there's no tricky footwork, it's based on moves you'd use during various sports (inline skating, skiing, boxing, and basketball) and it definitely gives you a good workout. Problem I have is that there are SO MANY mistakes made that are not edited out. The instructor very often loses touch with the beat of the music, which throws off the other people working out on the video and throws me off as well. Then there's a HUGE mistake in the cross-country ski section (you can't miss it) where one move is totally forgotten but they somehow just keep going. It makes for a sloppy production, if you ask me. Fortunately it's a simple enough routine that after watching it a few times you figure out how to do it without stumbling over the mistakes they're making on the video. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This 1989 beginning-level, low-impact aerobic workout burns calories and helps get you fitter in just 30 minutes of easy movement. The moves are very simple and suitable for beginners. If you're intimidated by complicated choreography, you won't have any problems following Austin, who repeats the same moves many times. She does a lot of step-touch, a lot of marching in place with various arm moves, and many, many knee lifts. If you like more variety to your choreography, you'll be bored, but if you'd rather just repeat moves you know, this could be your workout. Although this is billed "low-impact," Austin puts a hop into her knee lifts and lunges. (You might want to fast-forward past the lunges that switch sides quickly if you have knee problems.) Austin talks nonstop, either cueing or cheering you on ("Beautiful!" "You got it!" "You can do it!" "Use those legs!"), which you may find motivating or annoying. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars All In One
This is the best Denise tape I've tried.I wanted a strait cardio workout without grapevines, salsas and more complicated steps that frustrate me (I WILL give up). The steps are easy to follow, have a nice build up and slow down, and get your heart rate up without over doing it. As this is my 10th Denise tape, I have seen some of these moves before but this is the first time I've seen upper and lower body toning combined with aerobics simultaneously, so you there's nothing missing! If you want something simple, fun and that saves some time, this will keep you motivated!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very customizable - great for injury recovery
This tape may be a bit dated, but it is infinitely adjustable to your needs.Too basic?Add wrist and ankle weights, and you'll break a sweat anyway.Recovering from a back injury? The moves are simple enough that you can only stretch/lift/lunge as far as you feel comfortable and still get a reasonable workout.

4-0 out of 5 stars A bit dated, but helped me heal.....
After being very ill from an auto-immunity illness, I was looking for something to ease me back into exercising.(My high intensity step tapes were too demanding.) I checked this out of the public library and was pleased with the progress I made while using it.Although my fitness level has increased, I find there are still days where this is just enough. If you're looking to prepare yourself for a marathon, this won't be enough for you... but if you want to add a non-threatening cardio video to your collection, consider this. You can usually find it reasonably priced. ... Editorial Review

This high-intensity workout is one of Austin's most energetic: two 20- minute cardio routines to burn fat and increase stamina. The first is a livelykickboxing workout. Exercisers with kickboxing training won't be overwhelmed byAustin's form and technique, but she still presents a good aerobic workout. Thelighthearted music doesn't fit the workout, however, and she doesn't cue itwell. The best instructors tell you what you're going to do before you do it,but Austin often cues on the move rather than before the move, so you're lateincorporating changes. Once you get used to the choreography, you probably won'tnotice this. The second workout uses interval training to alternate cardiosegments with short weight segments using light dumbbells. The cardio intervalsin this workout are mostly athletic moves--jump rope, lunges, and plenty ofkickboxing--with a few easy dance moves thrown in. If you're a Denise Austin fanand you're ready to pump up the intensity of your workout, you'll enjoy thisvideo. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars hard to follow
While it is a nice workout, some of the moves are embarassing if someone else is in the house. Also It is hard to follow, sometimes Denise does a couple reps of something before telling you that you have moved on to the next thing, so you have to watch carefully.I love Denise Austin, but this is not one of her best tapes.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun but Challenging
This is a fun workout, but I wouldn't recommend it as an introduction if you are just beginning to work out and trying to loose weight, as it could easily become frustrating. I workout regularly, and it still took me a while before I could do this workout all the way through. Once you build up some muscle strength, though, it really is quite fun. And I have no doubt that if you did this workout every day, you would lose 10 lbs. I don't use it for that though; it's also a fun video to alternate into your normal workout routine.

3-0 out of 5 stars Kickboxing Section Great! Interval Training So-so
I have never done any kickboxing before so it took about five viewings before I got Denise's routine down.It would probably have been easier if Denise would learn to cue her viewers better. Her count is not much better. Denise needs to view Crunch Fat Burning Pilates and take some lessons from Ellen Barrett about proper cuing and keeping count.Once I got use to the bad cuing the kick boxing section was really awesome. It had my heart rate up and I was sweating like crazy when it was over. The interval training was not very interesting or fun.I thought it would keep up the same heart pumping workout from the kicking boxing section of the tape, but it didn't.The second section was more of a dance workout with weights.I have only done the second section once, but maybe if I do it a few more times I will start enjoy it, but I doubt it; besides it requires more workout space than I have available, unlike the kickboxing section which enabled me to work within the limited space of my room. If your library has this workout tape, burrow it and see if you like it.If I had done that I would not have bought it, despite the great kickboxing workout. ... Read more

This well-designed program combines fast-paced yoga moves for fat-burning, hatha yoga poses for strength and flexibility, and stability ball exercises for core conditioning in three segments that can be done in one 60-minute session, or separately. Segment 1 builds patterns based on strong yoga poses such as the Warrior and Balancing Stick, adding lifts and lunges at a fast pace so that you're breathing faster and working the muscles simultaneously. Segment 2 is strength training by holding poses. Segment 3 focuses on core strength with a stability ball. Some familiarity with yoga is helpful--Austin doesn't give much instruction about breathing or the fine points of the poses--but not required. Although Austin talks nonstop, as always, her voice is quieter than usual and more fitting for this workout. (The repetitive, rhythmic music, however, is distracting rather than supportive.) Recommended for intermediate exercisers because no modifications are shown, and many of the poses are challenging. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars No way!!
This was the WORST yoga dvd I've EVER seen and I've seen a lot! The workout itself wasn't so bad but Denise Austin's form was beyond bad AND her instruction was even worse!! I won't even mention my opinion of her voice. There are SO MANY better yoga workouts out there!

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest Workout!
I am 64 years old and have worked out for years.I recently was bored with the treadmill, needed to get off 5 lbs and wanted something different.I love this yoga workout (Fat-Blasting Yoga).I like the fast pace.It took about a month to get the movements down. I ordered Shrink My Femle Fat Zones and Yoga Buns.I like all of them and have increased my energy level and the stretching has lowered my blood pressure.I plan to order additional DVDs of Denise's.I hope she continues forever.

2-0 out of 5 stars good workout if you can take Denise (I can't)
I had misgivings about buying a yoga DVD lead by an aerobic queen, and I wish I'd listened to them.
