5-0 out of 5 stars Fun workout
This is by far one of Richard Simmons best videos. It is for an intermediate level. You can easily catch on to all the moves after about 3 tries! It is short enough to stick with, and long enough to get results. If you are in top shape, this is too easy for you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not his best Video
I love his Sweatin' to the Oldies.I use them at least every other day and I am seeing great results.I bought this video with the same high hopes and was seriously dissapointed.Dance your pants off was made for people ALREADY in shape, in my opinion.I can't keep up with the tape.If you are overweight like I am, buy one of the Sweatin' to the Oldies tapes and leave this one for skinny people!

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun music but you might trip over your own feet.
I bought this tape mostly because of the fun music.I'm not sure what I expected when I thought about the dancing part of the video. In "Sweatin to the Oldies" for example, the only "dancing" you do is the twist. So I guess I expected this video to be more fun type dancing.Well, there are about a million different moves and he doesn't do anything twice. You start to do one thing and he changes to another.I was falling over my feet and quickly became frustrated.I broke a sweat just trying to follow what they were doing which was so frustrating I shut the tape off.The next night I tried it again and I've done the routine 3-4 times now and it does get easier.I don't think it was meant for beginners but it doesn't tell you that anywhere. The other thing about this tape that sort of bugged me were all the cute skinny women who looked like they were semi-professional dancers. He usually always has a mix of people in his tapes but not once did he actually dance next to a normal or heavy person. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I liked this video on technique
I am an artist/painter of 20 years and I got a lot out of this video. Sometimes a little technique can give you your own break through!

5-0 out of 5 stars A good overview of technique possibilities
This is a great video. You'll notice on the cover there are 16 squares. This is the project that is demonstrated in the video. In each of the squares, a different technique is demonstrated as a sort of mini-project. What you end up getting is a sampler of various ways to handle acrylic paint, with techniques that can be combined. Find your favorite way(s) of working! These basic techniques offer quite a range of possibilities.
5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful instructional video
If your'e just wanting to watch a painting being painted ,forget it! This is technique video. If your'e new to acrylics its a must. It instructs you on all the mediums you can use to inhance your art and the techniques to use them.Even if you have been painting with acrylics, there are little tricks and techniques to be learned. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected at all
After reading all these wonderful reviews I was expecting something a little more professional in it's taping. As it was, the camera couldn't seem to hold still long enough to show exactly what some of the moves were.It was all over the place.I learned a few moves, but this video seemed more like an infomercial or testimony rather than an instruction video.Too much talking and not enough instruction.Over all, they teach 3 hip roles, but claim to teach 4.The fourth one is the same as the first one, just on your knees instead of standing.
4-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for beginners
If you're not it's still great because it forces you to concentrate on your body during the movements. It also gives a lot of great advice. These moves are core moves only. If your looking for more, this video is not for you. My favorite part was actually during the credits you are able to view the instructor in action during several clips.

5-0 out of 5 stars Do Something Fun for Your Lover
This video / DVD is about the art of sensual erotic dancing.Your boyfriend or husband will be dilighted and this DVD may certainly help you to add a spice to your relationship. (It did add spice to mine).

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good for a Beginner.
Wanna learn how to build a Model Railroad but wanna keep it simple? Well this is the Video for you then! Actor and Model Railroad Enthusiast Michael Gross hosts this Video on Building your First Model Railroad! I don't have this Video but it was a Bonus Video on one of the DVDs I got from Kalmbach Publishing. "Layouts, Modeling Tips, and Prototype Railroads." This video gives you the basics on building a model railroad. Track, Scenery, etc... Michael doesn't offer too many tips however he tells you how to weather your buildings to make them look realistic. Michael doesn't really show you this stuff, he just narrates it and a guy named Dick shows you how to do the stuff Michael tells you. It is a pretty simple layout to build and mine is actually bigger than this one and more better too. And if you want to build a better layout, check out David Methlie's Stoney Creek & Western on January 2006-March 2006 issues of Model Railroader. In those three issues, it shows step by step how to build The Stoney Creek & Western. However this Video will do good for a beginner. I recommend it for Beginners. ... Read more

Of the many efforts to pass on information on art this is by far the most usefull pastel training tape I've seen

5-0 out of 5 stars Best in the category
This video is a must-have for those interested in learning a serious approach to pastel painting. Unlike the many light-weight how-to paint books and videos currently on the market, this insightful video contains all of the information needed to successfully master pastel painting. I highly recommend it.

    Editorial Review

He lisps, he indulges in drag queen humor, he gives great decorating strategy. The Discovery Channel's Christopher Lowell has created one of those cable niches (and his own home fashion line at a major store chain) by paring things down to the basics for the design challenged. In the first half of this 98-minute video he demonstrates his seven-layers philosophy (walls, floor, upholstery, rugs/fabrics, surfaces, accessories, and plants/lighting) by filling an empty living room layer by layer. You may disagree with some of his premises--for instance he abhors white walls and patterned sofas--but by following his organizational scheme, large projects will seem more doable. Along those lines, the second half of this tape, "The Seven Psychological Layers of Design," focuses on breaking down the fear and lack of confidence that prevent so many people from daring to change their homes. He uses the same room from the first half, augmenting the segments with Zen-like advice on "mental interiors" ("Where there is fear, there is no creativity" and "Choose something rather than nothing"). 3-0 out of 5 stars A Visual Learner Needed Help!
When I heard Christopher talk about his "Seven Layers of Design" I couldn't wait to try it out. He was speaking to me!His book was extremely helpful, but being a visual learner, I thought the video would help all the more.I hate to say I was disappointed, but I was.It was redundant.I would have liked more examples with different rooms. The one room he uses is great, but the tape shows the same clips twice!Once about decorating and again about the psychology of seven layers.I found myself fast forwarding instead of listening. It will be a good reference tape, but I will probably use the book more.

5-0 out of 5 stars What makes this one worth buying
First off, let me say that I am not a diehard Christopher Lowell fan. I do watch his show at least once weekly and I do use some of his ideas. Others leave me cold. But this video is WELL worth the price and well worth watching for several reasons. In addition to the "7 layer" philosophy promoted on the cover of this tape you get an additional bonus - a great pep talk on the psychology of creativity and decorating, sure to inspire and encourage even the least creative among us. If you are fearful of making ANY decorating decisions, afraid of failing or looking like a decorating dropout ( a decorating dodo, in other words), this part of the tape should help you break out of that rut. I also found the main part of the tape to be valuable, full of good, basic information, laid out in logical order from start to finish. As an example, Lowell suggests starting with your paint and carpeting or flooring and then making your MAJOR furniture purchases BEFORE you pick out your accessories, area rugs and other purchases that many people mistakenly start out with. If you follow his suggestions, including planning your color scheme and room layouts, you should avoid many costly and time-consuming mistakes. There are valuable tips for every step of the way. I plan to refer to this video often and am glad I made the purchase. Of course, you could buy the book instead but I found this to be a quicker way to get the information.

Overly rated by others. The film is too simple and plain. It will bore any bonsai beginner to dead.I would recommend the "Growing Art of Bonsai Video" or the "Thriving Bonsai" DVD instead.I watched them all and found this one provided the least information.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice for Kids, but Not a Baby Signing Video
We borrowed these videos from the library and my older son and I really enjoyed them. I liked the way they didn't ignore the fact that signs can be used in ASL order or English word order. The story was engaging enough. The kids were great.
    4-0 out of 5 stars 3 Pro's & a Con
My family and I (ages 10 months to 30 years) were all watching this video together, when suddenly the ten month old tried to sign with us! Of course, she did not get the signs correct, but the movie had us energized enough that she wanted to join us. One thing that I really like about this video is that the teacher teaches the signs using English word order (instead of ASL order), but points out that the word order in ASL sometimes differs of that in English. She sometimes makes it a point to demonstrate saying a phrase in both variations of the language (i.e., English word order and ASL order). Although this is not the best practice gramatically, I think that it helps one learn to recognize signs, especially when one is a child. Another big pro of this video is that deaf individuals, with various speaking abilities, are featured throughout the tape. I am a beginning ASL student myself and am blown away by the differences between one deaf individual that I meet and another, sometimes increasing or decreasing my level of difficulty with communicating with him or her. Being exposed to such things while first learning should maybe help with that. Also, phrases and words are repeated so that the viewer can practice with the children after they learn a new word or phrase. The only negative I have is that the plot is weaker than the plot on the videos from the other ASL series I own.Overall, I like the tape. It is appropriate for children, and I found myself learning some news words as well. It is not a purchase that I regret making.

4-0 out of 5 stars I Want to Learn Sign Language 1

5-0 out of 5 stars Into the World of Puppets
Warner Blake's video, Puppet Festival, is a fine overview of contemporary puppetry. Blake, a longtime player in the Seattle puppet scene, captures the intensity, humor, and collegial generosity with which today's puppeteers go about their work.
