5-0 out of 5 stars mad season...
Just because you don't buy VHS anymore and don't own a VCR doesn't mean no one else does either. Mad Season is an incredibly underrated band, true talent ignored by those with the power to promote the band and build its fanbase because in today's world true talent does not amount to much to most people if there is no money to be made off of it. If you want to know why this hasn't been released on DVD yet, you might want to ask the head of Sony/Columbia why money is king and why they so heavily promote other crap that no one with any taste is interested in for the purpose of making money and getting rich, rather than doing their jobs and focusing on the real talent of the music industry. You might want to ask them why they have become such a gigantic rubber stamp of approval for people such as any talentless jackass who decides to go sing on american idol and goes on to sell tens of millions of records for no good reason. Ask them they promote some of the worst music ever recorded and completely ignore the little bit of talent that still remains on their label. Then and only then will you know why talented bands such as Mad Season have been ignored and placed on the back burner for so long.

    Editorial Review

The three-day Woodstock music festival in 1969 was the pivotal event of the 1960s peace movement, and this landmark concert film is the definitive record of that milestone of rock & roll history. It's more than a chronicle of the hippie movement, however; this is a film of genuine historical and social importance, capturing the spirit of America in transition, when the Vietnam War was at its peak and antiwar protest was fully expressed through the liberating music of the time. With a brilliant crew at his disposal (including a young editor named Martin Scorsese), director Michael Wadleigh worked with over 300 hours of footage to create his original 225-minute director's cut, which was cut by 40 minutes for the film's release in 1970. Eight previously edited segments were restored in 1994, and the original director's cut of Woodstock is now the version most commonly available on videotape and DVD. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The greatest concert film ever
The Summer of 1969 seems a thousand years ago.I was eighteen years old, had just graduated from high school, was on vacation in Hawaii with my family, and terrified of the draft because the Vietnam War was at its height.
5-0 out of 5 stars woodstock - 3 days of peace & music (the director's cut)
    Excellent - arrived on time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good stuff
When reviews of music DVD's are all over the board regarding sound quality only one fair conclusion is possible: The problem is the end user, not the product. I was stunned by how good this DVD sounded. Consider the conditions under which Woodstock was recorded and the quality and calibration of your home system before jumping to negative conclusions about this "transfer". That the VHS version sounds better than the Dolby 5.1 mix on DVD is simply not possible. You can quibble about several aspects of this movie but sound quality should not be one of them. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent example of a REAL live performance
SIGN O' THE TIMES was an excellent "concert movie"... but, as we all know, alot of it was re-shot and re-filmed with prince lip synching. THIS, however, was NOT a lip synched concert (to the idiot who said otherwise) ... as for guitar not plugged in?You can tell whoever wrote that review knows little about live performances... (...) ... it's called a wireless system... it's been around for YEARS and yes, Prince was one of the first to use it extensively.
    4-0 out of 5 stars On DVD ? A Shame It Won't Be....Ever
Live at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, Prince Rogers Nelson delivers an electrifying live mix of R&B, Soul, Blues, and Rock with a somewhat electronic treatment from the rhythm section known as The Revolution. Generously borrowing from some of his heroes including James Brown, The Kid makes the most of every inch of floor space for a great 90-minute set that offers extended jam versions of some of his earlier radio hits like '1999' and 'Delirious'. While some sections of the show move too slowly or are redundant, overall the vision of the genius is apparent. 'The Beautiful Ones' is poignant and sensual. 'Baby I'm a Star' culminates into a conga line of sorts, as everybody gets into the act onstage, including Sheila E. (his opening act at the time.) But the jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring 20-minute encore of 'Purple Rain' is the true gem of this concert, and it is only fitting he saved the best for last. A religious experience, to say the least: only once in a generation can a musical legend captivate and mesmerize an audience with one song.

5-0 out of 5 stars mr excitement lives on
although i wasnt born in wilson's heyday, i am a tremendous fan of his music because of my mother playing his records.the first picture i saw of him sadly was an article by sun times columnist bob green titled "teardrops real now for forgotten star" that showed him after his collapse on stage. when i purchased this video about 10 years ago i coulnt wait to get it home. i have watched it religiously ever since. he could really emote during a song and his range is incredible. there was a quote in nelson georger book" the death of rhythem and blues that referred 5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
This video is a great buy. If you've never seen or heard Jackie Wilson this video is a wonderful showcase of his talent. If you're looking to find a genuine singer with natural talent, in today's world of prefabricated music, Jackie Wilson is the one you've been looking for. He's an incomparable talent, and I can't say enough great things about him. Prepare to be amazed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Mr. Excitement He Is!
This film was good, it showed Jackie Wilson at his best, its not a lot of clips out there showing Jackie Wilson in her early years. Jackie Wilson had a voice sweet as sin, he was the greatest performer, if you like Michael Jackson then you gotta like Jackie Wilson, where d you think Michael Jackson got his stuff from, huh? ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Highwaymen-Willie, Waylon, Cash & Kris
It's an excellent view of past country stars and their rise to fame.It is one of the best tapes especially since the famous Johnny Cash is no longer with us.It's an excellent tribute to him.

If I could give this a higher rating it would be ten stars.
5-0 out of 5 stars The closest thing to the Highwaymen at the Patriot Center June 10, 1995
Written by Stuart Borris - Do not confuse this group with the original Highwaymen folk group, because the 4 guys that make up these Highwaymen are much different than the men who first used the name. These are 4 legends who came together to give real back bone to the name Highwaymen and this tape is a solid introduction to that.To say this item is great is like saying the Pacific Ocean has a lot of water. If you appreciate the roots of country music, there is nothing better than Waylon, Johnny, Willie and Kris on stage at the same time working together? In this presentation, you see 4 legends coming together to make a rare combonation. These guys created something so special it can not be matched. The closest thing to them might be the Rat Pack or maybe if BB King, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Diamond came together, recorded and performed on stage together. That is a tall tall order but the Highwaymen are all that and have made their mark for many generations to follow. I had the fortune of seeing these guys in person at the Patriot Center Fairfax, Virginia on June 10, 1995. Even though I had always liked Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings, my friend Eric had to talk me into going to this show. It was at a time when I was more into Hootie and the Blowfish and Collective Soul. Even though I wasn't excited when I came in, I came out of that show a real fan of the Highwaymen and an even bigger fan Cash and Jennings. It was my one and only opportunity of seeing them because they never returned to the Washington DC area again. I wish I had known how good they were, for I would have surely seen them multiple times. Even though there will never be another opportunity for me to see them live again as Cash and Jennings have passed away, the footage here makes it possible for me to see them again and again and again and again and again and again and again. The presentation does a near perfect job at showing their legendary presence on stage and incredible musical ability on stage. Along with that, it also provides an inside look at their relationship together through interviews and by the stories they tell. Afterall, not only are they performers, they are also emotional storytellers as well. As a result you will get a real feel of what the Highwaymen were about from this. As far as the orignal folk group also called the Highwaymen, these 4 legends do not take anything away from their musical accomplishments. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Scrapbook...needs to be on DVD with more footage!
This is a great document of Nirvana during their rise to fame and the peak of their live shows and TV appearances intersperced with some behind the scenes footage. Some of it's funny, some of it's a shadow of things to come, but it is a snapshot of the early 90s (along with The Year Punk Broke).
5-0 out of 5 stars Should be released on DVD
This material is the best of its kind and deserves to benefit from high-fidelity technology like DVD.It should be reformatted and released to the people that it belongs to.The fans. Not Courtney Love. A woman that could never even take the name Cobain as her own. But, come to think of it, who cares.Courtney only screwed herself out of the profits it could/may have generated. Now theres just tons of bootlegs. Way to use your brain Courtney! Oh wait, what brain.

WOW !!!! AMAZING !!!Highly, Highly, Highly, HIGHLY Recommended. This is a MUST for AiC fans. This concert played to a SOLD OUT MOORE THEATER IN A SNOW STORM---what does that tell you?lol. This concert is absolutely AMAZING--so strong and full of raw emotion...If anyone needs proof that AiC was one of the BEST bands EVER they need look no further than this performance.God, it makes me so sad to know that AiC is no more - never has a band been so revered or held up so high by their fans as AiC was and STILL IS.Layne's vocals shine bright in this performance and his status as one of the BEST if not THE best vocalists of all time is solidified once you see and hear him perform. This VHS is WORTH EVERY PENNY...There are NO bands that will EVER capture the raw emotion that AiC was capable of and there are NO vocalists that will EVER compare to Layne Staley...these facts are Clearly evident in this performance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Where is the DVD???
I strongly agree with the other reviewers. This truly contains so many classic performances - Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Doobie Brothers, the list goes on. Why is it not yet on DVD??? People have been asking this question for so many years now. With so many other great concert performances being released recently surely "No Nukes" is deserving of being released on DVD.

Whoever thinks Thurston should be edited out of the video obviously does not have a sense of humor.I think the great music combined with the great blurbs in-between make this one of the best rock and roll movies ever.I think the non-musical parts of the film give personality to the bands, it isn't just the same Music-talking about music-more music- more talking about music format you see in almost all other bands' documentaries. If these people think that silliness and goofing off "ruins" the band, then I would hate to be stuck on tour with them across countries and continents. ... I have owned and loved the cd for a while now, so I decided to try the dvd to get it in DD5.1.I consider myself really into audio, I have 3 Boston Acoustics VR3s across the front, Ascend Acoustics 340s for surrounds, and custom built subwoofers - all calibrated.Long story short, this dvd just reaffirmed to me why I stick to 2 channel stereo for my music listening.I find that much of the clarity, detail, and impact present on the cd just isn't here on the dvd.Clearly more work was put into mastering the cd.As another member stated, they really cooked the left surround channel on this disc, I had to turn it down quite a bit. Also, the video is full frame and pretty soft, but I wasn't expecting much on the video side to begin with.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!!!
Wow!!! The only word that comes to my mind when I think about this concert. Its simply amazing. If you are trying to refine your musical taste, then here is the music which you should listen and watch. Violin, Cello,Bass, Percussion, Drums, all sorts of Wind instruments, synthesizer, Grand Piano, harpischord and what else would you need for an orchestra. I think nothing else. This music will elate your mind. Also listen to Yanni's words, he has some philosophical lessons for you. This is and will remain Yanni's best ever live concert. No doubt many people have called it a masterpiece. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Neil Diamond At His Dynamic Best In 1976 Live In Concert
This VHS is a wonderful treat. This is a truly great live concert video. You will never see Neil Diamond sing like this again as he did in 1976 at his prime. In this landmark performance the songs are true to their original melodies and so exciting. The program runs for a wonderful 52 minutes. The music is timeless. The songs include:
3-0 out of 5 stars Very good but......................
I grew up listening to Neil Diamond. I used to have the Double LP of this concert. To be honest, I was a little disapointed with this viedo. It isn't because of the performence, Neil diamond himself is always great. It's cool seeing him in a concert that was filmed nack when I was 12 years old.5-0 out of 5 stars Neil Diamond at his Dynamic Best!!!
This performance by Neil Diamond is a perfect example of his dynamic, warm, personable on-stage presence. It reflects his ability to relate to and captivate his audience with talent and charisma. Every true Diamond fan should have this video, (along with the CD) in their collection. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars the magician of chelsea
I have to admit being almost completely unobjective where Mark Knopfler is concerned, and it's comforting to know that I'm not alone - I'm sure he could raise his own army if he was so inclined - so it will come as no surprise that I was glued to the set watching this performance. It so happened that the first edition with which I came into contact was the VHS copy of this concert; unwittingly, I picked the item with superior content (upon reading reviews of the DVD edition with the idea of upgrading, it became apparent that the DVD is, instead, a step backward; it does not contain essential pieces, like Sultans of Swing - perhaps this omission will be remedied if there is another pressing of the DVD). I am pleased to note that Mark Knopfler never fails to impress, any time I have seen him in any capacity; he works well with the musicians he convenes for his concerts, and over nearly thirty years has quietly amassed appearances with such a diverse assortment of performers and projects, nothing he could do would seem off. This concert - how great would it have been to be in that cosy little hall and witness it - seems to have been a promotion for "Golden Heart" (which came out that year) and I may have to go back and revise my review of that album - I was slightly harsh on it, although I still consider it a true first effort - as the biggest part of the concert on the VHS is from that album, and is VERY good. There are a LOT of musicians on stage - three keyboardists, four guitarists (besides Mark), a string quartet, four Irish musicians - it's amazing to me, with all those musicians in that small space, that nobody got in anybody else's way, but that's just how well this group worked together. Mark Knopfler possesses the magic to get the best out of everybody he collects to assist him, and make it look effortless. There were a lot of smiles all around as well - both on stage and in the audience. A relaxed, cohesive performance,well-balanced between new and old material (even though this was primarily about Mark's re-entry into the musical bullpen with "Golden Heart", there are about an equal amount of pieces from older works, going all the way back to the beginning and touching on mid- and late-Dire Straits and some of his movie scores as well). I had a great time watching this and can tell it will be played a lot. I'm planning to introduce my nephew to it before long - there's a whole new generation out there to enchant.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely fantastic
Mark Knopfler is one of the greatest singer, songwriters, guitarists of all time.If you're a fan, you must have this VHS concert.Don't buy the DVD version, since it doesn't have Sultans of Swing on it.If you have ever heard Mark live, you know what I mean.Growing up with classic rock, I got to the point that I couldn't even listen to Sultans of Swing on the radio. But his live versions of the song are absolutely genius.Only drawback is the VHS format in an era of DVD's, but fight through it to enjoy a great concert in an intimate setting in London.Camera shots and the rest of his band couldn't be better.
5-0 out of 5 stars More Stars for the "Sultan"
A great smal venue with an eclectic group of backup musicians from Irish pipes to strings to Sonny Landreth's haunting slide makes this one of Knopfler's strong "personal" albums.I saw one critique the lack of his trademark red Fender in place of a lesser unknown guitar.Happens to be a Paul Suhr, one of the best customs made and one of Mark's favorites although he uses a Gibson mostly on these tracks.Voice a little weak and slighly flat on "Imelda" which is a shame as this is one of his best tongue in cheek social commentaries.Use of string accompaniement is great. "Cal" as usual is a tear jearker.I'd buy and cherish any DVD, CD or VHS that has "Sultans" on it.The up close camera work on his left hand on this tape makes you just stare at your own hand in wonderment and awe.Truly worth the bucks expecially to see Mark's new expensive stage "rags"! ... This video is flat-out awesome. Those Hanson boys do some crazy things! From the footage of touring around the world ("in Frahnce, haha!"), to clips of them interacting as a family ("We love each other!")it is so much fun to watch. Also, the two music videos (MMMbop and Where's the Love) are excellent. You will not be disappointed with TTAMON.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tulso Tokyo & Middle Of Nowhere
This is a really good, movie/ documentary. It shows concerts, and what they do on their spare time. The are serious and wacky. They go to places like L.A., NY, Australia, Jakarta, France and many more!

5-0 out of 5 stars Freakin awesome :P
This is a great dvd. A must have for ANY hanson fan. There are great performances.Plus, it's so funny! From Ike's "documentary" of redwood trees (Hi, my name is Joe...) lmao, to the end where they all fight, while talking about not fighting.Wow... now I want to go watch it.Unfortunately, I have the VHS, so I'm gonna buy the dvd... the vhs is all messed up from watching it so much.So... funny.... 5-0 out of 5 stars Tear Jerker!!!
Ok, for any fan of the Judds or Wynonna...this video is a MUST!!!Not only does it include about a million of the Judd's greatest hits, but it is a tear jerker!!!You really see the raw emotion that not many stars let themselves show.By the last song I was crying along with Wynonna and Naomi. As a HUGE fan of Wynonna I really recommend this to country music lovers!!Not only will you cry, but you are gaurenteed to laugh at the sense of humor the duo has!I hope they continue to make great music because I LOVE THE JUDD'S. They are the best!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love those Judds!
This is the Judds at their absolute best.Mother and daughter, sharing the end of a professional union and putting on the show of their lives! This video is both touching as well as entertaining and if you don't end upcrying when they exchange their professional "good-bye" thenyou're not a true "Judds" fan.Excellent viewing... ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Eh!!
While I agree it was a fantastic concert (I was lucky enough to be there) the VHS tape & the CD wars very disappointing for the reasons I am about to write.
5-0 out of 5 stars What a Party!
What a great video. If you want to really see a wide variety of musical acts from many genres push the limits of their own talent with songs from one of the best songwriters around, get this one.
5-0 out of 5 stars Also looking forward to a DVD release
I am lucky enough to own a laser disc of this concert, which is superior to the VHS version but only a hint at what would be possible with a DVD release.Virtually all of the performances are inspired, and it is obvious how much fun the musicians had (except, of course, for "Sine-Aid/Sinbad/Uncle Fester" O'Connor). It is difficult to conceive of Sony's rationale for not releasing this on DVD, particularly in view of the amount of drivel that is available! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Prince is Brilliant!
I've been a Prince fan for years and came across this on cable about two weeks ago for the first time.Amazingly brilliant vocals/guitar work/creative performance by Prince, and Shelia E. was awesome on drums, really fun.I went to my local mall the following morning obssessed with buying anything Prince.Unfortunately my Sign O' the Times cassette from back in the day is worn out and I had to special order it on CD...Still waiting!I forgot what an awesome album it is!I highly recommend this VHS (don't know anything about the DVD version, sorry).

5-0 out of 5 stars Words cannot describe it!
Who cares how long it took..? Actually I do, and so do plenty of others it seems - it's at sales rank position 73 on 22 June 2005 and apparently still rising! Still, here it is at long last.5-0 out of 5 stars This is the real deal
One of the best - if not THE best - rock concerts ever recorded on film. Anyone who has been waiting for the DVD release should wait no more. Don't know if this is an "official" release, and don't know why it's only available on amazon.ca. But sound and widescreen picture are great. I've played my VHS version a hundred times, but there are things on this version I've never noticed before, or heard before, the sound is that good. Yes, for some reason the "You Got The Look" video is out-of-focus and grainy, but the sound is still OK. Until he releases a DTS-ES version, this is the one to have. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Video.... But Would Have LOVED to See More of Those TEMPTIN' TEMPTATIONS
This video was absolutely wonderful and a whole lotta fun to watch. It was great to see so many legends perform their timeless hits. I loved to see The Four Tops, Somokey & The Miracles and everyone else that was featured. The only problem I had with this video though was I really would have loved to see more of my all time faves..... those Temptin' Temptations.

5-0 out of 5 stars Detroit is the music hall of fame!!
This video only begins to demonstrate the influence that Detroit artists have had on modern music. How many commercials, tv shows, and movie films used motown songs??
4-0 out of 5 stars More Shows Please!
In this film you get to see more then The Temptations and The Supremes, you get to see Junior Walker and The All Stars, The Four Tops, Martha and The Vadellas performing their number 1 hits, I wish they would do more films like this showing rare clips of the Motown artists. The Motown artist back in the 60s, were the hardest working performers in the 60s. Hopefully in the future we'll see more like this. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Complete Doors Concert On Film - May Be The Only One
This is the legendary Doors at their peak in this, the only complete concert ever filmed of the controversial superband. The concert was filmed live at the Hollywood Bowl during the July 4th weekend in 1968. The concert includes my favorite Doors' song "light My Fire" (extended version.)

I was there....July 1968 in the Hollywood Bowl. What a show!!!When I watch this video in retrospect, I'm unsure why I was so enraptured.I'm a lot older today, my musical tastes have changed. However, it is part of my history and music's as well. This is a very fine show for the younger generation to understand what it was like in 1968.People are strange, indeed. ...
