A disturbing wake up call
The People Bomb is a set of 10-15 minutes CNN news reports about several dimensions of the global demographic explosion, mostly in the Third World (notably India). It provides very powerful images depicting basic butfundamental problems. Even if it was broadcasted in 1992, the problemsdiscussed are even more acute today and of high relevance. For instance,the global population reached 6 billion in 1999 (5.4 billion in 1992: Whois overpopulated?) and the issue of the missing female population (SonMania) has now reached 100 million, most of them in China and India,according to some sources. It is an excellent video to be presented inclasses covering population and development issues. I would howeverrecommend it to a more mature audience because of the sensitivity of somescenes: e.g. abortions and infant deaths. Particularly effective for abored, materialistic, selfish and careless student audience that plaguesmost colleges and universities today. Wonderful set!....Get it now because you will never see it properly released
This is beyond a shadow of a doubt the best documentary I have ever seen on the Cold War, but it will never be released on DVD, at least not for the forseeable future, much to the chagrin of many.
Best treatment of the Cold War to date ......
This is a superb series that details the entire Cold War begining just after WWII through the Gorbachev years.
Must see!
I heard about the release when I was in Vietnam, about 1998. There's no way to order these kind of films or books in a Communist regime. I could only read the narrative of 20 episodes from CNN website. I bought the film as soon as I reached Singapore.

Global History at its most thrilling, memorable and effective
This is a truly extraordinary feat - bringing to life and visualising key moments and developments in the past 1000 years from a truly global perspective - for once leaving behind the usual Euro- or Western-centred approaches so often dominating popular history. Zooming in and out on different parts of the globe at critical points of time is a device that works a treat. And, no doubt largely thanks to Prof. Fernando-Armesto's input, the treatment is autoritative too:the lively and entertaining presentation never once descends into oversimplification, and is never patronising. Just as enjoyable and effective for young teenagers (as I observed with my own eyes)as for students and all sorts of 'grown-ups'.
When the DVD
It is the greatest series I have ever seen. Done on DVD is a must for everyone.

The most worst DVD news event ever shown,,,,
The coverage that CNN gave the event, or lack of same, showcased the long decline that the cable news network had been in the 90's.Long time reliabke reporters like Bernard Shaw and Susan Rook were leaving and their replacements were younger journalists who beefed up the looks of news, but the news itself got lost in the translation. This DVD shows just how cheap CNN and indeed Time Warner is with it's cable and internet services (despite the billions that go into it) it is really cheap reporting, corny dialoge, and then rotten video editing on a DVD like this, all designed to rob you of your money. It's a shame that DVds made by Warner's Home Video servics are as cheap and poor quality made as this one is.It will be a lucky break indeed if Warners is able to just give the Looney Tunes Cartoons a good relasse on DVD, so far the efforts have only been sightly good.

Horrendous picture quality
This could have been good, if attention had been paid to the transfer to DVD format.The fireworks look more like indistinguishable blobs of light even on a TV... on a progressive scan computer monitor or hi-res TV, forget it.Don't waste your money if you want to see sharp, clear fireworks & images... clearly this presentation was thrown together with no thought at all.Maybe you taped something off cable on new years eve, 2000... if so, what you have almost certainly looks better than this, so see if you can get it digitized.

Reporting of the Events
I enjoyed "CNN Millennium 2000." I really liked the events as they unfolded. I had written a customer review of "CNN Millennium 2000" for both netflix.com and dvdempire.com and e-mailed copies of it to CNN's Paul Vercammen, SHOWBIZ correspondent, in the Los Angeles Bureau of CNN. I told him that it's a historic memento, not just for now, but for many years to come, because it's the only time in our lives will we ever see a new year like this-a new year dawn, a new century, and a new millennium. I also told him that I liked the report he gave from Las Vegas, Nevada, and liked Bernard Shaw and Judy Woodruff manning the newsdesk at the CNN Center in Atlanta. I also told him that I really liked watching the celebrations in the Pacific (Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Victoria, and Vancouver, the latter 2 are in British Columbia, the westernmost province in Canada, our neighbor to the north) because it really "heated it up," since all of the United States and all of Canada, its neighbor to the north, entered the new century. He sent me a reply thanking him for the kind words and support. He also told that he liked his assignment. I then e-mailed a copy of his reply to Scott Leon, his boss, in the New York Bureau of CNN.

Gets better as it progresses
The cover of this video is deceptive.It actually has very little to do with Jeffery Dahmer.Nonetheless, it has some facinating stories about some other, less famous, serial killers.The best story is about the guy who worked in the hospital.'Murder by Number' starts off boorish, but gets better towards the end.

A little uneven in presentation
There is a lot to like about this documentary.It touches on numerous aspects of the serial murder phenomenon, and is unafraid of being critical of how the phenomenon is represented.Especially impressive is the segment on how the "serial murder problem" is misrepresented.There are also segments dealing with several lesser known offenders such as Bobby Joe Long, Christine Falling, and Wesley Alan Dodd, including interviews with each.My only major criticism is that the documentary too readily embraces the brain trauma explanation for serial offending, when there are other causal factors that may do as good of a job (or better) of explaining the etiology of serial homicide.

For Anyone Even Remotely Interested In Serial Killers
I first saw this documentary on CNN back in '93 and have watched it several times since then. It's one of the most informative, interesting, documentaries on the "phenonemon" of serial murder out there.They really go in depth. Various known killers are feautured, includinginterviews with 3 different ones; a male nurse convicted of murdering 37 ofhis patients, a woman convicted for the killings of children she babysat,and a child murderer who was executed by hanging several years back inWashington state. Touching, But Thats All
To start of this is probably of the better 9-11 tribute DVD's. But, if that is all true, we need better ones. The first 45 minuites are very well done and deserves applause for it's stories and good information. But the rest is all just about are reaction to 9-11. This DVD is great, but if you wanted more information on the events of 9-11 you will fell hungry.

Let The Media Blind You From The Truth
I am on a mission. I am out to find un doctored video of what happen that day. In this edition of America Remembers is media hog wash. All of the impacts of the planes have been removed so that the victims and the american people are blinded by what really hit those towers.
"how do we explain this to our kids"
like many people i know where and what i was doing when the events of 9/11/2001 took place!never before has such an event happened to us and i hope it never does again! now we are left to tell and teach our sons and daughters about this day and what it did to change the world. this documentary is a fine example of what t.v. news can do when it wants,a far balanced record of the worst attack ever done on american soil.when i talk to my boys about this day i will use this dvd to help them understand how big this day really was.
