5-0 out of 5 stars A Vivid Memory
My college sweetheart, with whom I have reunited after 35 years, and I saw this unforgetable movie as a Sneak Preview in 1968.It was the most beautiful, but heart-wrenching movie I ever saw.The two of us remember crying in the car for a couple of hours after leaving the theatre. This movie shows true love never to be forgotten, with an ending that we shall remember for a lifetime.

5-0 out of 5 stars November is the Sweetest Month
How wonderful there are reviews by customers who so much like this movie. who have also longed to see it again and who have waited for it to be available. I too love it, have remembered it vividly ever since it was first released, and think it a great thing to have it finally here. 4-0 out of 5 stars THIS MOVIE ROCKS!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hollywood wishes he could make a film like this today....
Despite the fact that this film is over 70 years old, it is still absolutely hilarious, and one of the greatest comedies ever made. Its pointed satire on war, idiotic government, and idiotic people is still potent, and probably always will be.It is only 70 minutes long, but it has more laughs than 10 modern comedies combined. There are no gross out gags, no idiotic sex jokes, no swearing, no illiterate, oversexed teenagers, just brilliant comedy.Groucho, Chico, Harpo, and even Zeppo rule!
5-0 out of 5 stars Dialog Highlights This Marx Bros. Gem
Well, here we are with another wild and hilarious Marx Brothers farce, this time with Groucho taking over a small country and winding up in war with a neighboring one.
5-0 out of 5 stars Undiluted Marxian Madness
If you prefer the Marx Brothers without sappy romantic leads and ponderous musical numbers, look no further than "Duck Soup" (1933). Director Leo McCarey dispenses with the extra baggage and focuses on nonstop anarchy in this classic political satire. Groucho, Harpo, Chico and Zeppo remain a formidable comic machine as they unleash a barrage of one-liners and sight gags -- highlighted by the immortal mirror scene. Members of Congress should be forced to sit through this cinematic masterpiece at least once a year. "Hail Freedonia!" ... Read more

Editorial Review

A mysterious, pilotless plane carries scientist Rex Reason to a colony of America's best and brightest minds. They've been kidnapped by a dying alien race, the Metalunians, to repair their defense shield before their enemies destroy their world completely, toiling under their spying eyes and futuristic security cameras (two-way TVs that dominate every room). Jeff Morrow, under a raised forehead, bronze tan, and snow-white hair, philosophizes as Exeter, the thoughtful Metalunian torn between his duty and his morals as he forces the plucky humans to labor in his race's defense. The moody mystery of the first half turns to pure pulp adventure when the humans are transported across the galaxy to the battle-scarred world of Metaluna, under the threatening watch of a monstrous bug-eyed monster with a giant brain for a head and massive claws for hands. There's a genuine sense of wonder to Joseph Newman's intergalactic adventure, one of the most ambitious science fiction films of the 1950s. The story is simple space opera, but the futuristic designs of glass and metal, the marvelous alien makeup, and grandstanding special effects invest the film with a Technicolor splendor. 1-0 out of 5 stars Starts Out Promising, but Ultimately Fails to Deliver Much. Bummer.
This film is forgotten amongst 1950's pseudo-intellectual sci-fi movies for good reason: it fails to deliver any type of philosophical moral to the story, (as the few, best of the 1950's fantasy/sci-fi films did), and the monster scenes are way too brief (as most 1950's monster movies at least got that much right)! THIS ISLAND EARTH is a two-time loser in my opinion.
5-0 out of 5 stars This Island Earth
The plot is corny but I loved it.The Metalunians have the technology to travel 80 billion miles through space and yet they come to earth of all places seeking help to save their planet from exploding.I guess the humans being too stupid for extended space travel have to be smart at something, right? However, once you get over the plot, this movie is very entertaining given the neat special effects of the 50's, the interocitor (sp?) powered by a thyratron, the transport aircraft etc ..,This fits right in there with the origional war of the worlds and is from the era when they made fun, non explicit movies for the whole family

3-0 out of 5 stars Pleasing 50's sci-fi fare still fun to watch
Let's start with the most important stuff here if you've seen this classic 50's film. How does it look, sound and are there any worthwhile extras? The colors look quite nice in this print. The Image disc appeared a bit blurry at times with colors bleeding. That doesn't occur here. "This Island Earth" was shot using the Technicolor three strip process (except for the visual effects). The film was shot in full screen but presented in widescreen. That will bug you if you have a widescreen monitor but probably won't if you have a standard TV. Three and a half stars for the visual presentation because it isn't presented in its original widescreen presentation.

This silky smooth film noir pits gruff police detective Dana Andrews, stiff and blunt in his street-bred manners, against a cultured columnist and acidic wit (Clifton Webb at his prissiest) in a battle of wits during a murder investigation. The cop is a romantic hiding under a hard-boiled exterior who falls in love with the beautiful victim through the portrait that hangs in her apartment. Gene Tierney, whose heart-shaped face mixes the exotic with the girl next door, brings the poise and calm of a model to her role as the object of every man's gaze and the target of a killer. 5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite film-noir!
LAURA starring Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, amd Clifton Webb, directed by Otto Preminger, shines as a dusky jewel among les films-noirs. Tierney is never so beautiful and unattainable as in this movie, especially to the men who love her. She is an appealing and wholesome girl with a quick mind, exquisite taste, and a glamorous lifestyle. Unfortunately, Laura is not a wise judge of character, which explains why she has so many "characters" in her life. The screenplay is clever, witty and flowing and all the performances are superb. This is a film worth having since it needs to be watched more than once to absorb the naunces.

5-0 out of 5 stars we need a DVD petition!!!!!!!
I don't know what all of the legal issues involved with releasing this movie on DVD are, but I truly believe that if they knew how in demand this DVD was they would place a greater priority on resolving any isdsueds involved in getting this to DVD. I wonder if Amazon has a petition area?

3-0 out of 5 stars I'm only giving it three stars because it's a remake
This is based on my mother's review of the film. I haven't watched it.She saw the other versons of the film and liked the other earlier versions better. So it's not near the top of her list as movies to watch or re-watch.Some sequels are better than the originals, some aren't.This probably isn't a bad movie, but nothing special.
5-0 out of 5 stars Please Put This Movie On DVD!
Move Over Darling starring Doris Day and James Garner is a very good movie, it is a remake of the classic 1940's comedy My Favorite wife, starring Cary Grant and Irene Dunne and though I think the original is better I also like this remake and I think it is a very good movie that definitely should get a DVD release. Doris Day plays Ellen Wagstaff Arden a woman presumed drowned at sea in an accident, her husband Nicholas Arden played by James Garner has her declared legally dead after seven years and gets married to this woman named Bianca on the same day he has Ellen declared dead and it becomes very clear that Bianca is a spoiled, bitchy, high-strung, neurotic woman prone to temper tantrums if she doesn't get her way and boy is she in for a shock! Ellen it turns out isn't really dead but has been living on an island with a a man who also surrived the accident and they have been rescued from the island and on the same day she is declared legally dead and Nick marries Bianca, Ellen arrives at the house where she lived with Nick, sees their children who were very young when she disappeared so they don't know who she is, and she sees Nick's mother, who after recovering from the shock of seeing her tells her Nick has just remarried and you can tell she isn't too fond of her son's new wife, but since Ellen isn't really dead and she is sure Nick has never gotten over Ellen they come up with a plan for Ellen to reunite with Nick. This movie is hilarious, the combination of romantic-comedy and slapstick is perfect! Doris Day and James Garner are both wonderful as Ellen and Nick and Thelma Ritter is wonderful as Nick's mother Grace, and Polly Bergen who plays tempermental Bianca is also does a great acting job. I highly recommend this movie and I hope it gets on DVD and in widescreen I read somewhere that because of some legal battle it took a long time to get Move Over Darling on video and I hope that it doesn't take a long time to get this movie on DVD! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Goodyby Charlie!
Tape is in poor condition, having problems with skipping & tracking. Looks like this tape was well used prior to being sold to me.

5-0 out of 5 stars I hope it comes out on DVD
This has remained one of my favorite movies throughout the years.I think Debbie Reynold's delivery of her lines drags occasionally when she is acting bewildered by what she is experiencing, but the plot is so cute and Tony Curtis shines so that it makes a wonderful romantic comedy. It is definitely worth viewing if you haven't already seen it...and I hope it comes out on DVD so that I can add it to my library.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better Than You Think
With so much violence on today's screens, it's a wonder that anyone could be shocked (as some reviewer was) by this pleasant 60's gender bender. Geez, Pat Boone has a small role in it! If homoeroticism offends you, don't see the latest "Alexander The Great" either. (Yes, boys and girls, Alexander was [...]. So much for Don't Ask, Don't Tell). Tony Curtis and Debbie Reynolds have a great time (and so will you) in this farce about Charlie, a two-timing cad, who gets shot by a jealous Walter Matthau (who uses some strange americanized mitel-europa accent) aboard Matthau's yacht and comes back to life as a woman--Debbie Reynolds. (There was a remake but the original is much funnier.) Tony Curtis plays the dead man's best friend who Reynolds is staying with. After many funny incidents where Reynolds finally proves to Curtis she really is Charlie, Curtis realizes he's fallen for Reynolds. There's also one hilarious scene where Reynolds/Charlie has lunch with his former paramours and since Charlie knows all their secrets there's abit of funny blackmailing that goes on. The ending is a great surprise to some, obvious to others but this piece of funny 60's fluff makes for a very enjoyable evening at the movies. ... Read more

I saw "A Christmas Memory" when it originally aired in the late sixties, and it made such an impression on me that it has remained, in my mind, one of the best Christmas movies ever. Between then and now it lived on only in my mind since VHS and now DVD technology are still relatively recent. But I always told everyone about this film when we shared our "best of..." lists, and made a point of searching out the original story after seeing the film. The short story itself is one of my favorites.

I have just about worn out this videotape. It is one of the few video cassettes that I still own, simply because it cannot be replaced on DVD (yet). If you like cartoons and have not seen this, it is a MUST! Oh please, WB, release these fantasic shorts uncut and in all their glory on DVD! Please! Please!
5-0 out of 5 stars Tex Avery....on dvd, but NOT in the USA!!!!
Why is it that one of the undisputed grand masters of american animation does NOT have any of his work on dvd in the united states ?????This is such an incomprehensible feat of omission by Warner who owns the rights to practically al of his greatest work that I just can not get over it!!!! Indeed, a marvellous boxset, with extra's, of 63 of his best cartoons has been issued by this studio....but ONLY in FRANCE!!!!They think of Tex Avery as a genius over there and so warners cashed in on his fame....in the USA there seems to be the idea that nobody will buy a boxset of Tex Avery cartoons I guess.....In these days when every piece of trash that has ever appeared on tv or film gets a ultimate collection boxset the work of this genius, these hilarious works that were so far ahead of their time get not even a nod in their own country!!!!!
5-0 out of 5 stars Pure animation gold. Needs to be on DVD!
Why, oh why is this not on DVD?! This is a fantastic colection and should be on DVD (with lots of extras) for every one to enjoy. The toons are classic. I can remember seeing many of them as a kid. Some of the gags are a little dated, perticulaly those made during the war years. How ever, over all this was some of the best animation ever produced.

4-0 out of 5 stars Memorably tragic
Sansho the Bailiff projects a bleak and depressing view of medieval Japan. The director Kenji Mizoguchi was masterful, providing an authentic and unforgettable immersion into feudal Japan. This Japanese folktale describes the kinds of sacrifices that may have been required to overcome some of humanity's basest instincts, and a sad and mesmerizing story it is.The acting is wonderful, and the music excellent. There are a number of scenes that would likely be startlingly beautiful if shot in color, but fit the starkly tragic mood in black and white.Hopefully this great movie will soon be restored and transferred to DVD.Highly recommended.

Ranking No. 21 on the American Film Institute's list of the 100 greatest American films, this 1940 classic is a bit dated in its noble sentimentality, but it remains a luminous example of Hollywood classicism from the peerless director of mythic Americana, John Ford. Adapted by Nunnally Johnson from John Steinbeck's classic novel, the film tells a simple story about Oklahoma farmers leaving the depression-era dustbowl for the promised land of California, but it's the story's emotional resonance and theme of human perseverance that makes the movie so richly and timelessly rewarding. It's all about the humble Joad family's cross-country trek to escape the economic devastation of their ruined farmland, beginning when Tom Joad (Henry Fonda) returns from a four-year prison term to discover that his family home is empty. He's reunited with his family just as they're setting out for the westbound journey, and thus begins an odyssey of saddening losses and strengthening hopes. As Ma Joad, Oscar-winner Jane Darwell is the embodiment of one of America's greatest social tragedies and the "Okie" spirit of pressing forward against all odds (as she says, "because we're the people"). A documentary-styled production for which Ford and cinematographer Gregg Toland demanded painstaking authenticity, Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars New Orleans and the Dust Bowl are the same thing
It is defined still today as one of the most socialists film to come out from mainstream Hollywood.Contains scenes of authoritarian brutality and the awakening of proletarian consciousness.A film like this would be impossible in today's political context, and for sure it will not win Oscars (nowadays some throwaway things like "Crash" get the golden uncle).Despite a populist epilogue added by master producer Zanuk the events depicted in the film remain as the strongest warning against capitalism that I ever seen from an American movie.Greg Tolland's photography and the sweeping force of the story will blow you away.
5-0 out of 5 stars seeing "Grapes of Wrath" is reliving my family's past!
I've seen "Grapes of Wrath" many many times, and I bought the DVD to show my grandchildren what life was like and still is for many farmworkers. The Mexican farmworkers also went thru alot of hardships trying to survive and barely exist on what little they earned by harvesting the crops in California, Texas, Idaho, etc. etc.I show my Grandchildren this film to show the importance of getting an education, so as to break the cycle of living impoverished by working in the fields. Also, the more education you have, then you can do more to bring about justice to the lives of FarmWorkers by getting involved in making changes, and sometimes taking risks. I lived that life, so I know what I am talking about when I mentioned the hardhsips one had to endure in order to survive! and I enjoyed the way the film is told and Henry Fonda has always been one of my favorite Actors , as well as his daughter Jane Fonda. I recommend this movie to anyone that wishes to understand the plight of the Farmworker, whether they be "Oakies","Mexican",Filipinos", etc.
4-0 out of 5 stars Meaningful
This was a very interesting movie. It starts out slow, with the Joad family losing their farm and heading west, and mostly follows the storyline of the original novel. However, unlike other movies (from books), it has its own spirit and excitement.

ON GOLDEN POND may be twenty-five years old but the film is of such high quality that it has retained the luminous quality that garnered so many awards when released. It not only has a fine script adapted by the playwright Ernest Thompson from his own play, but it benefits from the sensitive direction by Mark Rydell and a cast of superb actors.
5-0 out of 5 stars a timeless film
in the tradition of "i laughed, i cried" movies, On Golden Pond is definently at the top of that list. combining smart dialouge, a lovely story, and two of the screens best actors you got a formula for success. Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn play two elderly people who go up to there cottage on Golden Pond to spend a summer. over the course of that trip, they befriend a lonely boy, evaluate there lives, and forge a relationship with there daughter (Jane Fonda). all the performers are great but the two standouts are Fonda and Hepburn. each one plays a foil to another, Fonda as Norman, is a crochity, wise cracking, disputible old man whil Hepburn as Ethel is a gentle, loving, all around caring person who acts as the peacemaker. when there both on screen, they are dynamite and both richley deserved those oscars. also, when both Fonda's are on screen they each show that no mater what they both love each other. a truley great film that will just leave you feeling great, On Golden Pond is recomended for anyone who loves movies.

I just went through all the reviews put in here for this marvelous story. We are presently celebrating the 25th anniversary of the making of this film on Big Squam Lake in NH, and still are impacted by this production. We remember much, and know the film represents so many of the older people who have to come to this beloved lake for generations. The tensions expressed in the film between Hank Fonda and his daughter are so typical of the inter-generational differences the USA is experiencing, and some of the lightweight, yuppie comments about this work printed here indicate that, too.I know many people on the lake who are so like this aging couple, and I always love to see the film represent those realities I have encountered. This NH lake works fine for raising young children, just like it did for the lad in the film, and folks on Squam intend to "keep it like it WAS" for those reasons. We pray that younger adult, excessively affluent types with nothing between their ears continue to stay away....... You can believe this film production crew found the right New England lake to create this masterpiece! We so love it here. ... Read more

Behaving as if it hadn't already been immortalized in Judges, chapters 13-16, Cecil B. DeMille immortalized history's most famous haircut all over again in this 1949 classic of the Epic Saga genre. Victor Mature is a trifle bovine as Samson--which perhaps isn't so inappropriate--but Hedy Lamarr's Delilah is a magnet on fire. Impossibly perfect and sexy, she sashays through the movie in a whole wardrobe of revealing halter tops, bending the men like blades of grass. These days it's hard to enjoy a DeMille film without condescension: from Samson's fight with a lion that might well be stuffed, to the famous collapsing-temple scene, we are constantly aware of how far movies have come, and the Philistines parade around in costumes that won an Oscar but can only remind the modern viewer of Klingon cocktail parties. But in so many other ways this is very classy filmmaking. DeMille takes considerable liberties with the biblical story to come up with a sort of Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars MOVIE SYNOPSIS
This dazzling biblical epic, based on the Old Testament story of the legendary strongman and the treacherous woman who betrayed him, became an instant classic in the "only by DeMille" tradition. Victor Mature stars as Samson, a proud and strong slave who gallantly fights for the love of a beautiful Philistine (Angela Lansbury). In a spectacular sequence, the rippling Samson fights a lion with his bare hands in order to gain the woman's hand in marriage as her sister, Delilah (Heddy Lamar), jealously looks on. On the evening of their wedding feast a battle erupts between Samson and jealous Philistines, tragically killing the young bride. Shattered, Samson declares vengeance on the Philistines as Delilah vows to avenge her sister's death. Samson becomes a legendary fighter of superhuman strength, unbeatable by even the greatest Philistine warriors. Only one thing can stop him--the love of a beautiful woman. DeMille creates a sumptuous oasis of Hollywood glamour in which Delilah and Samson swoon in this romantic epic that recalls the finery and splendid overblown production values of Joseph L. Mankiewicz's legendary CLEOPATRA. DeMille's passion for disaster is vividly employed in the stone-shattering climax. The film also features eye-popping costume creations from legendary designer Edith Head.

I have enjoyed this classic movie. It's really silly to have 2-hour movie on 2 VHS tapes which take up too much space in my video cabinet.I deducted 1 star for this reason.

3-0 out of 5 stars The End of An Era
The mid-1960s was a point of intersection for American movies. It is a bit of a lost era and one of the lowest points in Hollywood's history. It is situated long after the peak glories of the `golden age' of Hollywood and just before the New Hollywood movement that would breathe such new and invigorating life into the ailing medium. In many ways the films from this era are the ones which new filmmakers would react so strongly against; movies high in budget but sparse in originality, cast with aging movie stars playing worn characters; bloated, lifeless, and out of touch with the rapidly changing social climate of the day. "El Dorado", released in 1967, is most assuredly a film of this era. It is a western of such a standard concept that it could have been made thirty years prior. Its stars, John Wayne and Robert Mitchum, are well past their primes and here look stiff, heavy, and old. It is, like so many others of the time, a film that seems irrelevant and washed up; a product of `going through the motions.' Its one saving grace, however, is that it occasionally seems all too aware of this fact.
5-0 out of 5 stars El Dorado
As all John Wayne (Cole Thornton) movies I enjoyed watching this time and time again. Also, having Robert Mitchum (Sherrif JP Harrah) in this movie added a new twist of actors that co-starred with John.Robert is a good actor and I enjoy his movies as well.Other actors that added a twist to the movie were James Caan (Mississippi), Aruther Hunnicutt (Bull) and Christopher George (Nelson McLeod).I wish there were more authentic westerns and spagetti westerns as there used to be.Tom Selleck in "Quigly Down Under" is another good one.

What could be better...you get to see The Duke riding through beautiful western landscapes....with western towns populated with beautiful women...and bad guys in black hats....plus Robert Mitchum being Robert Mitchum and James Caan with that funny hat and big gun, and they play well with The Duke. The staging and the filming in technicolor plus the Olaf Wieghorst western art with the opening credits characteristic of the late fifties and early sixties took me back to some great memories of going to the movies as a kid. A side note...an acquaintance who was working on the set during filming says that John Wayne and Robert Mitchum were not talking to each other...who knows why, supposedly they were friends at one time..during the breaks Mitchum went off with the upper echelon while Duke would lunch with the crew....this is a great DVD to own for those Saturday nites when you feel like watching a fun shoot'm up western...you'll also love Rio Bravo.. ... Editorial Review

The second half of this 1943 Technicolor musical is an excuse for MGM's contract talent to perform songs and sketches in a big show at an Army base. Unfortunately, more than an hour passes before the show arrives, stranding the viewer with a thin service comedy about an opera singer (Kathryn Grayson) tagging along to a military camp in hopes of reuniting her estranged parents, whose names are Bill and Hillary (no comments, please). Romance comes in the form of private Gene Kelly, a former trapeze artist who misses the glory of his former life. Grayson warbles, and Kelly has one nifty solo dance (with a mop and broom), but the all-star revue is the movie's main attraction. The song selection is generally poor ("I Dug a Ditch in Wichita" is performed twice), with Lena Horne's sultry take on "Honeysuckle Rose" an exception. She's backed by Benny Carter and His Orchestra. Specialty player Virginia O'Brien delights with one of her deadpan numbers, Eleanor Powell tap dances, and Judy Garland delivers with a boogie-woogie lilt on "Jumpin' Down at Carnegie Hall." Comedy sketches with Red Skelton and Frank Morgan are stubbornly unfunny. Then there'sJosé Iturbi, the Spanish-born conductor, making his film debut at thebeginning of his run as MGM's supposedly cute highbrow. Director George Sidneywould team up two years later with Iturbi, Kelly, and Grayson in Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is one of my favorite Kathryn Grayson movies
I love this movie. Most people only watch it because of all the MGM stars in it.i personally think this is the most boring part of the picture.I enjoy the romance between Gene Kelly and Kathryn Grayson much more than the songs, dances, and comedy scetches of the stars. The only thing I think is wrong with this movie is that Kathyrn Gryason only sings three songs which is hardly displaying her talent (although the songs are pretty good), and Gene Kelly only dances once.I'dlike to say to anybody thinking of seeing this movie: go for it.It's wonderful!

2-0 out of 5 stars Thousands cheer--when it's finally over!
With a cast like this, I thought how they go wrong? Well, they managed! This movie goes on forever, with a plot that's predictable from the first few minutes, yet keeps dragging on and on. The only relief is Gene Kelly's dance routine with a mop, but otherwise there's little that's even musical about it. Be prepared to fast forward to the real entertainment, which is about an hour and half into the movie. During a "show for the soldiers," the film makers bring on a huge cast of stars who all have brief songs or scenes. Lena Horne is beautiful as always singing "Honeysuckle Rose," Red Skelton does a pretty funny skit, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Lucille Ball, Gloria de Haven, and June Allyson are all right, and Virginia O'Brian is wonderful. Unfortunately, except for these few numbers near the end, it's not worth watching, even for major Gene Kelly fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars A cavalcade of MGM stars
MGM redefines the big-screen musical extravaganza in this 1943 roll-out of MGM stars... Gene Kelly and Katheryn Grayson, Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland, Red Skelton and Margaret O'Brien, plus Lucille Ball, Donna Reed, Ann Southern, Lena Horne, Frank (Oz) Morgan, Mary Astor, June Allyson, and John Boles and Ish Kabibble with Kay Kyser's big band. (At the time bigger than Benny Goodman, Glen Miller, Or Tommy Dorsey.)Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars A huge disappointment...
I grew up watching Sesame Street and truly love the Muppets. However, I have to say this video was not what I expected. There were some great vintage clips, but not enough muppets/monsters for me. This video seemed hastily thrown together with bad editing. I would recommend you pass on this one and get "123 Count With Me" instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny
Sesame Street does it again with a program that can be watched with equal entertainment value by both adults and children. That is, if the adult is old enough to have seen the Johnny Carson Show.I am, so I found it highly entertaining.Nathan (18 mo) found the skit about the dollhouse amusing, and liked the sitar music in the 1-10 skit, roller coaster and dancing chickens, etc.I like them, too, and the animation and music are great in every skit.Sesame Street Workshop produces some very creative work, and we need more like it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great, but why does this need a regional code?!?
My daughter loves the DVD, although the lower numbers are definitely a bit boring--for both of us! Unlike one of the other Sesame Street DVDs we have, this one forces you to watch a minute-long spiel on how the money used to buy the DVD goes to support children's programming all over the world. I can't get my computer to skip over it. Which brings me to the next point: WHY is there a regional code on this and other Sesame Street DVDs? I'm in Germany, and I have to watch these on my computer instead of TV because some schmo at Sony thought the DVD should only be viewable in North America? How does Sony or anyone else benefit from this? There are millions of Americans living abroad who want their children to see these, and the regional coding just results in fewer people buying the product. Sigh... Anyway, it's very good, and Elmo-free. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Texas Two Step
Once a year, for 16 years, the richest men in the territory gather for the biggest event of the year. It's 2 fisted action in Laredo, but no guns are needed as the big event is the annual poker game. They gather behind closed doors in the town's hotel/saloon that caters to rowdy cattlemen. There's nothing more important and a 12:30PM sharp the game will start.
4-0 out of 5 stars An ace in the hole, suitable for most any audience
Superior acting from an all-star cast would alone make this one a winner.Add a novel story line with continual twists and turns, nonstop action, and glimpses into human nature elicited through a big stakes poker game, and you end up with one of the best westerns ever filmed. The only negative surprise is how few people -- even movie buffs -- know about this one.The industry should make it available in DVD, but the VHS sound and picture quality are as close to DVD as anything I've seen.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just can't wait
