    5-0 out of 5 stars I can!
Great short film. After watching it, my 2 year old started saying "I can, I can" when he is climbing on the playground. It's got a great message that says believe in yourself even when everyone around you is trying to put you down. I like the music soundtrack a lot too. Overall a great production.

5-0 out of 5 stars Welsh classic
Not many people know this timeless film was made in my homeland and originally dubbed in Welsh. Even now at the age of 18 I look back fondly on the adventures of Tillie the Little Engine that Could. Any adults reading this are encouraged to purchase the English dub as a wonderful conterpart to any of their kids Thomas collections. Trust me, you'll love it.
4-0 out of 5 stars Don't expect the book Do expect fun
My 3 year old loves the video and doesn't seem to mind it isn't the same as his story book. His die hard Mom wishes more of the original story was evident. Some of the embellishments seem unnecessary and harsh like the signal's attitude toward Tillie and the argumentative chicken.I am most disappointed that the helpful clown was turned into a buffoon. A lot of the characters changed and are hard to identify. I do like the Doc who helps Georgia. All that said it is a fun tape and your child will enjoy it.I did have to assure my son that the scary face was just snow that was falling down not a monster, ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My 20 month old will watch nothing else!
My son adores this video! After what seemed like the 100th viewing, I decided to try other heavy equipment DVDs for variety. He would have none of it.Only Hard-Hat Harry. It is interesting and Harry makes it fun, too.Others in the Hard-Hat Harry series include a farm adventure, fire trucks, airplanes, etc...5 stars from my boy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hard Hat Harry still has it.
My dad digged up this video from a box of videos that were my little brothers when he was little.I don't know what it is but my 2 year old son adores this video. He has learned how to operate the VCR just so he can rewind it and watch it again.I remember my brother had the same love for it when he was little.I can see why some kids may not be to interested in it because it is really just alot of video taping of trucks with Hard Hat Harry and two kids that chime in.I guess you just have to get it and see but if I am reviewing this on what my 2 year thinks of it it would get more than 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars My boys love it
Honestly, this video is similiar in style to a documentary. However, it does have voice overs for the construction machines and there is a guy called Hard Hat Harry who shows two boys around various construction sites. He also narrates on construction projects they are supposedly viewing as the viewer is.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars THE WORST "there goes a.." VIDEO to date!!
I hate that we own this video!! Of all the "There Goes a..." videos, this one is ALL FLUFF!! I love the concept of these videos but was really dissappionted in this one: Dave and Becky are particularly annoying with their futile attempts at humor in very un-funny fiascos that even my kids were bored with- and they LOVE these videos!! Do your family a favor, and skip this one, but get others that ARE GREAT: Dumptrucks, Tractors, Bulldozers and Trains, to name a few. ENJOY!!

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best of this popular kids video series
Deputy Dave and Deputy Becky are at their charming, goofy best as they explore the world of police vehicles and equipment, including cars, helicopters, boats, bikes, horses, radios and body equipment. They also spend some time with a K-9 unit and get locked in a jail cell. The usual antics are funny and not as perilous as is sometimes the case in the series.Kids love these videos and it won't drive the adults crazy.

5-0 out of 5 stars see a variety of police situations...my kids love this video
The show is hosted by Becky and Dave, who pretend they are police officers as they host this show. As usual, they continue with their goofy antics, doing things wrong because they don't follow directions as explained, they get into trouble, etc. All the while they introduce us to various police officers in different settings and situations. They ask the officers questions about their jobs and the officers answer them in a manner that is not condescending or patronizing to children.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Watch It
Our daughter really enjoyed watching this. Helps little ones to identify different trucks...and Dave & Becky are just silly in this. We enjoy watching Dave on Sun morninings PBS. Looking forward to seeing the others that go with this on video.
3-0 out of 5 stars Needs more trucks and less silliness
My 23 month old son loves this video and asks to watch it over and over.He loves wathcing the different trucks work, but loses interest during the scenes where Dave and Becky are talking and arguing. Also, he gets upset about seeing the tow truck back into the car and then drop it and about watching the garbage truck drop the garbage can and then roll away.I'm ordering other truck videos hoping he'll get to see more of the trucks (the part that facinates him) and less of the silly stuff (that upsets him and annoys us).

5-0 out of 5 stars This One is a Winner
I ordered this for my 4 yr old grandson and he loves it. The first section about a firetruck doesn't interest him, but the others do. His 16 month old brother watches as well. Even though, I found it corny, the boys didn't. "I want to see it again, Grandma" means it's a winner to the target audience. ... Read more

    4-0 out of 5 stars Holds a 1 year old's attention.
My 1 (almost 2) year old son likes this video. But he wants me to watch it with him. No bulldozers here, but shots from large construction sites (J.Paul Getty Museum in LA) . Almost like somthing you'd see on the discovery channel. I went out to a nearby construction site with my video camera and was able to get comparable shots of heavy equipment. My son doesn't seem to mind "forman Dave".

5-0 out of 5 stars great
Ok, ok. I know you're not "supposed" to put your child in front of the TV while you try to get something done. But here in the real world we have to do just that every once in a while. At least if I put on a video I know there won't be any surprises that I don't want my 2-1/2 year old seeing. This video is great for just that purpose. It runs a little over 1/2 an hour so it's not too long that I can take advantage of the "free time." It's just long enough to get dinner started and sometimes on the table. My son has loved it from the moment we first popped it into the VCR. I have also learned a lot about big machinery from it and have taken our education into the real world. He can now sit in the car as we run our errands and point out steam rollers, excavators, bulldozers, etc... which makes car time a lot less tedious. Highly recommended.

3-0 out of 5 stars Title is misnomer; Dave does DANGEROUS things.

5-0 out of 5 stars fun and educational
Dave and Becky are back in this movie which takes them to the Kenedy space center among other places. Typical Dave antics abound, but I know my children have learned lots from this and all the "There goes a...." movies.

4-0 out of 5 stars another adventure for Dave and Becky
If you are familiar with the There Goes A .... video series, you'll know what to expect here.Dave and Becky visit rockets, try on space suits and generally bring a bit of the Stooges to NASA as they learn about rockets and astronauts. Not the best of there many adventures, but of interest to fans of the series or kids who want to know a bit about our space program.

2-0 out of 5 stars Little Mammoth is better
I bought this video for my son because I was looking for a child-level introduction to the some of the things I find interesting. My son does enjoy this video but I feel that he doesn't need to be exposed to the pointless, foolish humor used throughout. There are some good scenes in this video. One of Dave running alongside a Saturn 5 rocket really gives a sense of the scale, but why give a visual explanation of how an astronaut uses a toilet? If you're looking for a good video for kids that introduces them to the space shuttle and rockets I would recommend The Big Space Shuttle by Little Mammoth Media. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars It's OK
Like all the other Bob the Builder videos "it's ok" is about as nice a thing you can say. There's nothing much memorable about any of the stories. And the characters can get grating after a while. If I was forced to find one good thing about it I'd have to say that the clay-mation is good. That's about all.

4-0 out of 5 stars My two year old enjoys it quite a bit...
This is my two year olds first Bob the Builder. He has generally only wanted to watch a Baby Mozart and nothing else, but the first time he watched it, he was hooked. He would sit there and nothing could distract him.
1-0 out of 5 stars Phobia Central
My 2-year-old loves Bob the Builder, and I would recommend other B-t-B shows, but NOT THIS ONE!It deals with the fears that the various machines have in a very negative way.Instead of overcoming and triumphing over their fears, they wallow in them and are consumed by them.Lofty, for example is afraid of heights. When Bob gets stuck on a tall scaffolding, Lofty is too afraid to lift the ladder to him, and leaves his friend stranded for several hours.Although Wendy does eventually manage to talk him through the process of lifting the ladder, Lofty does not learn to be any braver in the process.A similar situation happens when Muck is working in a tunnel when most of the lights go out--she is terrified of the dark, and is too afraid to move or come out of the tunnel even with help.Again, she eventually manages to come out of the tunnel, but has no growth or triumph from the experience.I let my son watch this DVD twice, after which he ran into a dark hallway, shut the door, and started saying, "it's not that dark! It's not that dark!"He has never been afraid of the dark, and I don't want him to learn to be from this DVD.We won't be watching this particular video again. ... This video is a must for train buffs! It has everything a trainenthusiast wants in a video:solid information coupled with stunningfootage of some of the most interesting train runs in the world, as well asclips from "the good old days" of railroading. The videoprovides a good historical perspective of railroading and the advent ofsteam engines, moving along briskly to bring the viewer up to modern times.Because it was produced in the early 80's, some of the material may be alittle dated, but a true rail fan won't be bothered by this aspect.Thevideo is produced in the classic informative and easy-to-watch style whichis the hallmark of National Geographic Videos. If you love trains, youwon't be disappointed. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellente!!!!!! (Spanish Translation: Excellent!)
Even though I'll be turning 15 on Feb. 1 of this year, I still think this is a GREAT and wonderfully WACKY video. I'll switch to the Real Wheels series on DVD, sometime. Dave Hood, you're excellent, even to someone who might be too old for these series!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars My kids LOVE it!
Obviously, from other reviews, it depends on the kid. However, my 3 1/2 year old boy and 2 year old boy have insisted on watching this video every single night before bed time for the past month! They absolutely love it and I have learned a few things from it myself.

2-0 out of 5 stars too technical, boring
Very little of "Dave" in this one, however the fire fighters describing the trucks forgot this is video is for very young children. For example a fire fighter, when speaking about wheredrinks on the truck, says they need to drink when they get "dehydrated". What person under 6 knows what that means? He should, of course, use the word "thirsty".The problem is that this movie left it into the hands of the professional fire fighters to describe the trucks and equipment. These guys may be great fire fighters, but when they start throwing about terms like "dehydration" and spouting nozzle sprays specifications, and various ladder heights my 2 year old, who just loves fire trucks starts staring at me (not the TV). This video would be perfect for adults who want to learn the very basics about fire trucks and fire fighting.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tesla likes Airplanes
My little bro ther tesla loves planes and always watchs this and sometimes i do!

4-0 out of 5 stars 90 percent good
Except for the scary parts, like when Dave has to fly the biplane, or the screaming when he loses control over the jet...! my 3-year old loves it, as well as bulldozer and above all helicopter (5 stars). He hates the train video, can't stand when Dave wears the conductor uniform or spills food all over the passengers. There are a few seconds of scary parts in each video: in garbage truck Dave is seen head stuck down in the garbage; in tow truck he smashes up a car trying to get it attached to the tow. It's neccessary to be around when the video is on. Why he likes the explosions in bulldozer is beyond me! But overall, a positive series. I buy them as cheaply as possible though...

4-0 out of 5 stars goofy fun for kids (and adults) interested in airplanes
Dave Hood's series "There Goes a .... " are informative and entertaining.Personally I think this is the weakest of the ones we've seen, but our three-year old loves it.I think too much time is wasted on trivia and it'spainful to watch the airline attendant tell us how she greets passengers and shows us where the stirring sticks are located, but try to tell that to your kid!Pilot Dave rides in a stunt plane, a passenger jet, an aircraft carrier and a jumbo UPS carrier, among others, and lots of fun is had by all. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Very graphic videore U S Postal Services
Actor/Producer Dave Hood and actress Becky Borg do a great job taking the "mail" from the corner mail box from the sender to the addressee (geared for kids 3-8),it gives info not interested to their age groups about the different acroynms and not enough for an older kid ,since it's limited to delivering the mail to "one residential street"--however Hood and Borg 's antics are the equal of any slapstick comedy with info which is accurate and good to know.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dave and Becky deliver letters
This is a typical video in the "There Goes A .... " series, with perhaps more antics than most.Though the carton is titled "There Goes a Mail Truck", the opening credits and Dave Hood's voiceover call this episode "There Goes the Mail", and that is really a more accurate moniker. We do indeed get a look at the LLVs (Long Life Vehicles), but primarily we follow our goofy duo as they track letters carried by plane and truck to a mail distribution center then to local post offices and individual mail carriers. We see lots of sorters, both human and machine. While it is an interesting process to watch, a great deal of the video is spent seeing Dave get wet, lock Becky in a letter box or try to retrieve his mailbag from property guarded by a "vicious" dog (that turns out to be a small poodle).4-0 out of 5 stars My son's lifelong favorite
Grandpa's a letter carrier, so I had to buy this for my son the minute I saw it, even though he was barely one at the time.He loved it even then and has watched it regularly ever since (he's now 3).For some reason, he's always laughed at the part where Dave mentions that postal workers are dedicated professionals. His Grandpa really appreciates that a lot.I'm sure we'll get at least another two years' enjoyment out of this one! ... Editorial Review

Pilchard the cat finds a missing chinchilla, nervous Lofty delivers a joist to a worksite (almost) by himself, Dizzy the cement mixer gets to play sheepdog, and the whole crew builds a competition-worthy snowman for Lofty while he's out rescuing folks in these four episodes emphasizing working together. Meanwhile, the crew builds pens for a petting zoo, fixes a burst pipe, takes down a wall in Mr. Bentley's home, and builds a new barn for Farmer Pickles. Bob and Wendy prove admirable parent figures by handling each mishap with patience and a ready solution, earning the devotion and cooperation of their machinery. Ah, if only real families were such constructive crews! With four additional 2-minute shorts, this positive-minded program clocks in at 43 minutes. (Ages 2 to 5) Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars LOTS OF FUN FOR A BOB FAN!
My [little] son enjoys this DVD and I like the "teamwork" message that it sends.I also like that includes an easy-to-use menu and that the previews are AFTER the shows.I think that in the past, the Bob DVDs were designed differently. They got it right this time! ... Read more

Hard to believe but in the entire video there are only 3 (maybe 4) shots of dump trucks dumping their load. But there are good shots of trucks rolling.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars There goes a racecar
My two sons love this video. It is entertaining and keeps their attention throughout the entire show. It is educational, teaching children about engines, safety, and many aspects of racing. As the children watch it over and over, they learn more details. It is a video that can be watched for years to come. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Too Much Music
I bought this video for my 11 month old son because he loves anything that makes lots of noise like trucks, trains, tools, and the vacuum cleaner. He did not find this video interesting because they don't let you hear the machines - they play music while they show the equipment. This may be a plus for an adult, whose ears get tired of all the noise, but to a kid, I think it's like watching fireworks on TV without the sound instead of being there in person. It's just not as much fun.Maybe he's just still too little to appreciate this video.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great pictures, same w/narration
Lately my two year old has developed a big interest in "tractors", which encompasses (to him) tractors and construction equipment."Big Machines" shows many types of constructionmachines and narration that isn't ridiculous. It's informative and clear. This, and others in the Sandbox Video collection (plus Fred Levine's greatstuff) is an exceptional video.'Keeps my son interested for hours andteaches him how to recognize equipment.'Great theme song by Chris Cornishthat we sing too. 'Highly-recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good entertainment tape.
This tape, like all the others in the Sandbox Video series was an instant success with our son. He constantly would pick this and the other videos out to watch on a daily basis. It kept his interest for the full 30 minutesand he loves the opening song and lead-in. The only negative with the tapesare the quality. Even with the first use you'll see a lot of white staticand the tracking is hard to control. Otherwise it's a good entertainmenttape. Hope that helps you! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This is for kids--adults beware!
Our 2 1/2 year old has watched this many times and loves it...but Dad has to find something else to do now when its on.I wish that it didn't have the stupid "inserts" which try and give it a story or narrative quality.Helicopters, that's what we want! There are a good variety of Helicopters on the video, which makes it worth owning. There are Coast-Guard, Marine & LA Police Department helicopters. My son does seem to have learned a lot.He has a toy helicopter and he uses the string and hook on it to rescue people, like on the video. But the "explanations" on the video are simplistic in the extreme. They probably tried to accomplish too many things on this one video. My son would give it 4 stars at least, so that's what I give it.

4-0 out of 5 stars My son loves it!
This is one of the better videos in the "There Goes A..." series. If you can get past goofball Dave and his sidekick Becky, itreally is interesting and informative. ... Read more
