4-0 out of 5 stars Campbell and The King:A Marriage Made In Bedpan Heaven
OK, I'm one of those suckers.I think Bruce Campbell is a God!I don't find him to be the most talented actor, but he sure is a PERSONALITY.And his deadpan delivery elevates even the most mundane of material.Of course, everyone has seen the "Evil Dead" films--but any Bruce Campbell fan who does not own and cherish the short-lived series "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr." should be punished severely!
5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
This is a must see movie for Bruce Campbell fans. Keep in mind though that it was a very low budget movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars Delightful, original and memorable
I heard about this film via an NPR interview with Bruce Campbell, and was intrigued. When I got to see the DVD, I was not at all disappointed. A zany and original script comes to life thanks to tour-de-force performances by Campbell and Ossie Davis, who obviously enjoyed working together. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected, but it still stars Norm Macdonald...
This movie features an all-star cast of former SNL regulars. The plot is goofy and senseless but interesting and full of clever twists. The jokes are plentiful, though only a few are "laugh out loud" funny. Many of Norm Macdonald's attempts at humor fall flat, and this was the biggest flaw of the film.Norm Macdonald quite simply is not a good actor, at least not in a leading role.To say he doesn't have much charisma is putting it mildly. The wooden SNL alumnus delivers many of his lines like he's reading from a book or in a sarcastic tone that seems to wink at the audience when the role calls for him to play the material straight.I love dry, deadpan humor, but Macdonald doesn't quite pull it off. This movie might have been 5-star hilarious with Leslie Nielson the king of deadpan starring in his prime.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pure Comedic Genius
This movie is obviously meant for the 16 - 30 year old white male demographic, and anyone outside of that group may not care for it (however, I have quite a few hispanic friends who LOVED it, so don't take what I've said to heart).
4-0 out of 5 stars Now They've Made Revenge Funny
None of the three young stars of this film - Norm MacDonald, Artie Lange or Traylor Howard - ever became movie stars but they combined to make this a funny film, albeit what I call a lame-brain (somewhat low-class but effective humor) one.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Double BAD Movie
I was looking forward to watching this dvd. After viewing the movie I couldn't believe how bad....and I do mean BAD, this movie was!! It truly was the most pathetic thing I have ever watched. I mean it would take years of practice to act that bad so I guess from that stand point they did a great job. This piece of trash is now just that, it currently holds it's rightful place, in our local land fill. My apologize to the land fill.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hear Raven de la Croix Snort Like A Pig, And Much, Much More
"The Double-D Avenger", starring Kitten Natividad and her enormous talents (in what is the only buxom, geriatric, superhero action-comedy that I am aware of) was the brainchild of Director William Winckler, who made it on a shoestring, and makes you wonder (sometimes out loud) "What was he thinking?" I have seen the original edition, but have recently purchased the version featuring commentary by Joe Bob Briggs, and I recommend that version much more than the originally released version. As a technique, I recommend watching the film with the Joe Bob commentary track off, then again with it on if you do decide to buy the Joe Bob version (and you should.) This doesn't take as long as it sounds because the movie only lasts 77 minutes.
4-0 out of 5 stars Pure slock
This movie is pure corn in that it takes every opportunity to include every bad joke about women's ta-tas. But on a late evening after a hard day, it's enough. Yep, sometimes we need to view cheesy bad movie to appreciate the times that we can view high quality films. This movies does a great job. Big breasted women exploited for all they are worth with low budget laughs. Satisfied my craving for pure slock. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Ann-Margret: passed her Hwood peak but on the comeback trail
Having no other choice but to leave Hollywood for Italy(where the only movie offers were), Ann-Margret got a big surprise in 1968 when her "Tiger and the Pussycat" with Vittorio Gassman managed to turn a small profit; this one is the follow-up, not made in '76 but also in 1968, wherein Gassman plays a hermit lured out of seclusion and proclaimed a profit, and Ann-Margret co-stars as a sexy local girl in on the action. It's threadbare moviemaking, but not without inspiration. A-M, a bit blowsier than before and unencumbered with character details, plows through at full speed, relying on her smoky quality. As a film it ain't much, but strictly as a star-vehicle it has some appeal.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Spaghetti Romance!!

3-0 out of 5 stars This obviously not entertainment for everyone
Loved the characters and the acting. Plot and scripting is good but not great. Some of the setup gags are lame but there's some witty dialogue that does go on.I was totally amazed of the transformation process in the "making of" featurette. This first time I went by all the glowing reviews, didn't pay attention as to the number of used copies available at such low prices (a great indicator of how well a movie is desired to remain in peoples' dvd collections), and I'm greatly relieved I got it at low price.

3-0 out of 5 stars Twisted sisters
This movie offers some of the nastyfunniest dialogue ever on film; it should win some sort of John Waters award for uncovering (and, I think, exhausting) the comedic potential of abortion. It also shows what a b***h Hollywood math can be: take 60 minutes of material, subtract 80 minutes for minimum "feature film" length, and what you get is a very negative last 20 minutes or so.
5-0 out of 5 stars Buy This Movie!!!
I found this DVD by accident and never looked back.

2-0 out of 5 stars Surgikill-When bad movies attack
SURGIKILL, the last film Andy Milligan produced, is a stupid movie. It slogs through a silly, cliche'-ridden plot, puctuated by corny old unfunny gags and limp production. However, unlike many mico-budget titles, SURGIKILL is not boring. It's like a stuffed two-headed calf in a road-side museum. You will look at it for a while, then go on with your life.Andy Milligan is also in the two-headed calf catagory. His films are freaks, his heros are freaks, and if we are to believe all the press he has recieved since his death, he was somewhat freakish as well. The true horror around SURGIKILL is that it could have been so much better. The original script made sense, the characters were believable, and the story had humor, suspense, and just enough raw gore to make it appealing to a wide audience. Now, it's just a warped little film with a tiny fan base crouched in their grimey little niche.Of course, I'm prejudiced.I wrote the original script. My name is on the credits.Andy blew it.He could have gone out on a high note.Instead, he finished his carreer with a bad joke.

3-0 out of 5 stars Milligan's Final Bow
This final work of late-great cult-film director Andy Milligan is one of his few excursions into campiness in the broader sense. But then again, this came from the mind of the man who gave you "The Rats Are Coming, the Werewolves Are Here," as well as a cornucopia of other low-budgetslasher extravaganzas rich in comedic undertones throughout the 60's and70's, so it's not completely a first in that regard.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Classic East Side Kids Move but not Re-mastered.
This review is for the Alpha Video DVD. This is your classic East Side Kids move full of fun and antics by the boys. The film is not re-mastered as with most of Alpha's DVD's so don't expect great picture quality and audio. It's what would you should expect to get for this price. With that said, the movie is still worth buying if you enjoy The East Side Kids classics. Hopefully some day they will all be re-mastered.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bowery Boys DVD
The cover was misleading as the DVD is in B & W.Granted this movie is old, but there were some spots where dialog was garbled or inaudible.

3-0 out of 5 stars Worn out, soft film used for DVD mastering.
First let me say that for $7.99 this DVD is passable. The sound is not distorted, but the video is a little soft and contrasty. It was not bad enough to distract from the viewing on a 36" screen. It is much better than the artifact ridden Platinum Disc "8-Movie Set" version of this title.

1-0 out of 5 stars This 67 minute version is cut. The 73 minute version was cut
This version is 67 minutes long. The previous version on VHS and on some other DVD is 73 minutes.
3-0 out of 5 stars EAST SIDE KIDS SPARKLE WITH AD LIBBING.
In this wartime (1943) East Side Kids picture, Muggs McGinnis (Leo Gorcey), East Side boxing champion, is scheduled to meet the West Side kingpin in the ring for the City title, but is kidnapped by several thugs just before the bout, resulting in Muggs' friend and fellow gang member, Danny Lyons (Bobby Jordan) replacing him and defeating the West Sider, only to have Muggs believe that Danny was responsible for the abduction in order to achieve glory. The film is marked by the clever ad libbing skills of the entourage which, while at times intentionally corny, help to propel the story rapidly along and the customary East Side mixture of boxers, gangsters, and patriotic propaganda is leavened with a dash of romance and a funny jitterbug contest featuring big band singer/comedienne Marion Miller, all competently directed by Wallace Fox.
2-0 out of 5 stars More drama than humor for this East Side Kids entry.
This Monogram Picture of The East Side Kids is much slower than the later Bowery Boys incarnation. The last 15 minutes of this 64 minute movie is devoted to World War II patriotism. Nothing wrong with patriotism, this film just makes war look honorable. The beginning of the film aims at Muggs getting Kidnapped, but the bulk of the story is about the relationships between the gang members of The East Side Kids. Leo Gorcey's humorous banter is there for us to enjoy, and Huntz Hall is a scene stiller!Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars W.C. Fields as a con-man who discovers he has a heart
At its core "Sally of the Sawdust" is an old fashioned melodrama: Judge Foster (Erville Alderson) disowns his daughter because she marries a circus performer.A few years later she has a child and dies. What redeems this 1925 film directed by D.W. Griffith and adopted by Forrest Halsey from the stage play "Poppy" by Dorothy Donnelly, is W.C. Fields, in his first starring role, as Professor Eustace McCargle, part juggler and part con man, who is entrusted with young Sally.Because of his new found responsibility McCargle gests a steady job with a carnival.Sally (Carole Dempster) grows up to be a great dancer and Peyton Lennox (Alfred Lunt, in one of the few films of this great Broadway actor still available to be seen), rich son of a friend of Judge Foster, falls in love with her.Of course, the Peyton's father and the Judge vow to put an end to this by having Sally and McCargle arrested. However, eventual reconciliation and eternal happiness is just a matter of time.5-0 out of 5 stars Poppy is a must see!
The 1936 version, entitled 'Poppy', as was the original play, isa must see, hilarious film! Got to agree with the other reviewer, it contains some classic Fields scenes... how about the croquetgame, or the get-away on the mayor's horse... or the scene wherePoppy announces that she is indeed the heiress... to which Fields replies, "Well my dear, I'm glad to see you've finally come around"!.. or the toothless guy who spends the entire movies chasing the $5 Fields has bilked him out of in the first 5 minutes!5-0 out of 5 stars sally of sawdust

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!
This is a great movie.Very cheesy, gory, and it doesn't take itself seriously at all.It is ultra low budget and shot in black and white (with the exception of 2 brief color scenes) but this only adds to the charm. The plot is VERY hard to follow and you will have to watch it more thanonce before you realize what's going on, and even then, everything thathappens after Galileo disapears (long story) makes no sense at all andshouldn't have been included. It should have ended with Galileo justvanishing.Anyway, the nonsensical plot is part of what makes this moviegreat.See ZOMBIE! vs Mardi Gras now! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars "Just Awful but something keeps you tuned in"
I bought this for $3.00 at a drug store here in Chicago. Basically, I bought it because it had Jayne Mansfield and Phyllis Diller. I did enjoy the singing and dance numbers even if a few of the songs were just plain bad! The kids looked great and appeared to be having a fun time. It's just 78 min. of one vignette type of scene after another.
2-0 out of 5 stars Campy, weird and boring....but starring Jayne
When I bought this movie I thought "God: all the reviews are talking about a boring and absolutely unbearable movie"

I thought this would include at least some of the Bowery Boys movies, based on the title. But it turns out none of those movies are available legally. No matter, the East Side Kids are still pretty funny, and you can see how they evolved into the famed Bowery Boys. My other complaint is that the overall picture and sound quality are not the best!

1-0 out of 5 stars Sanitationatrix
Total and complete misleading garbage, this was.I have seen some BAD movies and I am admittedly a fan of the genre but why oh why was this made? Luckily I rented this or I would forever be a sap for buying it.Someone spent money on the box cover here but not much else. How about some professional makeup because Lillith Stabs looks really hot on the cover but in the movie you can see all sorts of acne that a little makeup could have hid or at last some creative lighting. The acting was nothing short of atrocious and the demonatrix was not scary at all. In fact, her cheap Hot Topic wings were laughable, not to mention her totally unerotic make out session with one of the many bad-boobjobbed strippers in this scrap. She was the only one to not show her breasts and the only set I would have actually cared to see, mind you. Why would they not only film a graveyard scene meant to be spooky and hellish during the day but with the shot facing toward the city traffic? Cars from Hell?In fairness to the fairer sex (though it would be unfair for me to include any of these actresses into that description), I will also mention that the men in this were totally unappealing and it leaves no doubt in my mind as to why they wrote rape into the plot because that's the only way any of them could credibly get any action.I felt I was raped for 3 bucks for renting it so do yourself a favor and do not buy this crap! AWFUL!

1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid, avoid, avoid! Not worth the time or the money!

4-0 out of 5 stars The "Citizen Kane" of marijuana films, it's "Reefer Madness"
In the history of camp, the piano player getting high in the closet in "Reefer Madness" is as iconic as Scarlett vowing she will never be hungry again. There are lots of copies of this 1936 film out there on DVD and VHS, but do not be surprised if when the title comes up in the beginning is says "Dope Addict," "Dope Youth," "Love Madness," "Tell Your Children," or "The Burning Question," because roadhouse pictures like this one kept getting reissued under different titles (although some argue that "Tell Your Children" is actually the original title). Actually, if you see a copy of this movie and the title of the actual film is "Reefer Madness," count yourself pretty lucky. The important thing here is that you understand marijuana is dangerous. As the tag line for this movie points out: "Women Cry For It - Men Die For It!" So you know it is bad, very bad indeed.
