5-0 out of 5 stars Leisa Hart leads a killer lower body routine
This is a very effective workout.I have done a lot of the steel videos, and have enjoyed a lot from the series.I have never done thighs of steel 1,but I have done this one.I think it is awasome, all you have to do is grag a chair for balance and to do the sitting exercises.Lisa leads you through very hard but effective legs segments the are cool and controlled.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Effective Workout!
This is a very effective workout for your thighs. However, keep in mind that this is actually a strength-training workout that uses your own body weight as resistance and uses a lot of exercises that isolate certain muscles. The only time cardio is actually used is in the beginning as a warm-up.
5-0 out of 5 stars Difficult, but works
Without the warmup, it lasts about 40 minutes, and has three types of workout 1. Standing with a chair for balance, 2. Sitting, and 3. Lying down with heels on chair. There are lots of reps and the exercises are really hard, but if done with diligence and concentration can really produce results ie definition. One of the other reviewers mention it strains the knees, but I've had no problem with this (you have to really focus on putting weight on heels, not toes, so that knees don't go over the toeline). Also, I'd recommend doing this video AFTER doing abs work, so that the stomach is already taut and will support the body better while doing these exercises. I most definately recommend this video - its really effective. If you can get over the fact that its 40 minutes long and pretty difficult you'll really find that your legs feel firmer and more toned. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars beginners?
Kathy Smith's Sarting out is a good workout, but it really isn't for beginners. I am a fairly advanced exerciser and found this video the perfect intensity level for me. At least for the aerobics.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners
The title of the tape pretty much says it all.I was brand new to aerobics when I started this video, and it was relatively easy to pick up the moves while still getting a good workout.Kathy Smith shows you different levels of intensity that you can do the moves at, so that you can progress as you learn the routines. She also teaches you about proper posture and stretching. It's especially helpful that she provides closeups of footwork so that you have a chance to really see what's going on.The film is outdated, but still pretty good. For a beginner, you'll be sweating by the end.

3-0 out of 5 stars nice beginning workout
this workout is great for beginners because it is not too intense or lacking in intensity. It is divided into two sections. The first section is a really nice aerobics section. During this section, Kathy does easy low impact aerobics. She even has "foot looking" for the people with two left feet (like me). The second section is the body awareness section. It is a nice way to relax the muscles after the aerobics section. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Yoga Tape
This Tape is A++ The Best of the Best

1-0 out of 5 stars Denise Austin - Yoga Essentials
Too "talky" without saying very much, and doesn't seem to understand that yoga involves the mind as well as the body. She moves so quickly from one position to another, I never stayed in any pose long enough to really benefit from it. Her words of encouragement were completely obnoxious.Do you really think she could see my smiling face, or was she actually proud of me? UGH!! Try Ali MacGraw's tape instead, it's great.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible
This is not yoga. The moves are done way too fast, without an emphasis on the "correctness" that is essential to getting a yoga workout. Also, there aren't nearly enough postures. And Denise is incrediblyannoying.I will never buy another one of her tapes. And I've discoveredmuch better yoga tapes - especially Rodney Yee. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST!!
i love this tape! it only takes 15 minutes a day and is very effective. there is definitally a BURN!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars "Doing it with Denise!!!"
I have been searching for this video for YEARS!!! My roommate had it during college and we would get a group of girls over to "do it with Denise" about 3-4 times a week. I LOVED it!! I did this video before going on Spring Break in 2001 & my abs & legs never looked better. Now, I'm going to start it again, as I just bought a copy of it. We have a "fitness club" at the school that I teach at, and I'm going to get "FIT!" with Denise!!! I want to get back to my "Spring Break" body again!!! Glad I found it! She is SOOOO annoying in this video, but well worth it....PLUS, it's only for 15 minutes a day!

5-0 out of 5 stars Really works, but be careful....
You have to be more advanced to do this, and even then, you will feel some pain the next day! This is an incredibly effective workout, but don't do this if you're a beginner! It will kill you if you're not up to a more advanced level. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Really love it!
I have never done a workout where I felt a difference after one session.I felt taller, slimmer, and more graceful.Jennifer is encouraging and beautiful to watch.I am constantly trying to push my limits as I work toward my goal of a stronger healthier body - she gives you something to strive for. This is also the first video I have ever done for 3 solid weeks (1 workout a day) without growing tired of it.I am buying this tape for my niece, and I am also purchasing some of Jennifer Kries' other videos.I just wish I had found her years ago!

5-0 out of 5 stars Full stretching routine included
I use this DVD for the final session called Flow and Flexibility. There are two other Pilates sessions on the DVD, but I only use the stretching (after my Tai Chi workout). It is a flowing, dance-like stretching practice. You work very deep and slowly, but I always feel like I've completely stretched all the muscles in my body when it's completed. Also, try Gaiam AM & PM stretch DVD.
4-0 out of 5 stars Nice full-body workout blending Pilates with other methods
As other reviewers have mentioned, this workout does not contain any of the traditional Pilates mat work, so those who want this will need to look elsewhere. However, if you are looking to try some of the lesser-known Pilates exercises (particularly, the arm series) blended with other methods such as yoga, this is a nice, full-body workout.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product
I think these are great tapes. I love them and do 1 of them a day.

5-0 out of 5 stars Leslie Sansone's Power Series
I've been doing Leslie Sansone videos for years, and have a myriad of DVDs from her Walk Away the Pounds exercise series.I've grown to depend on the effective, low-impact workouts that Leslie delivers time and again. This Power Series set is no exception. The bonus:since all three of these workouts come in at about 30 minutes or less, it really shoots my "I don't have time to exercise" excuse right out of the water! (I have a 20 month old daughter, so time is always an issue for me.)I have a history of ankle problems that has caused me to stay away from high-impact aerobics most of my adult life, and that was the main reason I held off investing in this series for as long as I did. However, I'm glad I finally caved and bought it!While the intensity is bumped up a bit compared to some of her others, I still found all of these workouts completely do-able.The 'Walk and Jog' workout does incorporate short two minute bursts of jogging during the aerobic portion of the workout, but there is a low-impact alternative shown. That being said, I can handle the jogging without any trouble, even with my ankle trouble. The pace moves pretty quick (2.5 miles in about 30 minutes!) and it's quite rewarding to know you've accomplished so much in such a short period of time. The 'Walk and Kick' video is probably my favorite of the bunch. It's Leslie's take on kick-boxing.I have tried other kick-boxing workouts, and have always felt like I was making a fool out of myself (and I consider myself a fairly coordinated person). This one, however, is lots of fun and easy to follow.Again, the bulk of the workout is the standard walk aerobics; but Leslie interspurses two minute kick-boxing segments, similar to the format of the 'Walk and Jog' video. Some of the segments focus on punching, others on kicking. In my opinion this is one of Leslie's most upper-body intensive workouts, but compromises nothing in the way of aerobics or lower-body activity. The last video in the series is the 'Power Mile' which I typically use on the mornings when I push the snooze button a couple too many times. It's shorter than the other workouts--about 20 minutes, including the stretching portion at the end; but I still find it to be a great high-intensity, low-impact routine that's just challenging enough to make me break a sweat. It's not mentioned anywhere on the discription, but she does use small hand-held weights to help get the upper-body more involved and bump up the intensity a bit.The weights are not necessary...especially for a beginner. You can do all the movements without weights to start out, or get creative and grab a couple of soup cans from your cupboard if you don't want to invest in the hand weights.I really do enjoy each of these workouts individually, and am glad that I purchased them as a set. Some of the reviews for the individual DVDs point out that the 'Walk and Jog' workout doesn't have a stretching segment at the end, but it does have a cool down.I typically stretch on my own, anyway, so this isn't a big deal to me. Other complaints were about a couple of cueing errors; and while I do notice them, they don't bother me or disrupt my workout.Leslie's energy and enthusiasm make these DVDs some of my workout favorites!

2-0 out of 5 stars It's okay
This series is okay as an add on after a more intense workout. My main complaint is the low intensity.I thought that the walk jog would be a great one to work up a sweat but it really wasn't.I also thought the backround music was very difficult to hear and I personally need to hear that music-it's motivating for me. Leslie's voice however comes through very loud which may be why the music seems so low. The backrounds themselves are kind of cheesey, but I can live with that.I enjoy the express series much more than this one.It is more of an intense workout, large groups of enthusiastic people and you can hear the music, so you can "walk to that beat"as Leslie likes to say. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Not the same old WATP workout
I just did this workout for the first time and I have to say it was a refreshing change from the usual kicks, knee lifts, side steps and marching of the other WATP series. It was interesting and fun.
5-0 out of 5 stars Favorite Workout
I have to say this is my favorite of all of Leslie's workouts. Yes, I agree with the other person who said that Mary Kay is annoying, however, I feel the best when I am done with this video. I like the variety of it all.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great low-impact walking workout with simple kickboxing moves for variety
I am a high intermediate exerciser, and I have the other video in this series, Walk and Jog.Although I was interested in Walk and Kick as well--I love kickboxing--I was a little hesitant to try it, as I was concerned that the intensity level might be lower than Walk and Jog.As it turned out, this was not the case, at least not when you look at the overall workout.

5-0 out of 5 stars Should be called Easy Stretching, not Easy Toning
This stretching video is pretty good. If you only have 10 minutes, you can get in a decent stretch. I feel really loosened up from the morning stretch, especially in the back. There are only 2 Sun Salutations (1 on each side) so don't be put off by that if you dislike those. I enjoyed the PM Stretch and the Athletic stretch, but didn't care for the Tai Chi by Denise. At least that part is at the end and I can skip it the easiest. Worth buying for the first 3 sections.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful workout!
How can you not just love Denise Austin? Her enthusiasm is positively contagious! This video is great! While it is easy enough to do every day, you can challenge yourself by simply adding on a little more weight! It is not often you end an excercise session smiling. And believe me, you will be smiling and feeling much better about yourself.Give it a try! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Leslie=5 STARS,as usual!!
I LOVE this walk!! It's fun,Leslie cuing is superb,as usual. This walk is just full of energy and inspiration. 30 minutes flys by as you interval between walking and jogging,a brillant cardio workout. Being a 'Leslie Lifer',this is one of my favorites!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Workout Booster
2.5 miles in 30 minutes? Fantastic. The energy level is high and the enthusiasm is infectious. Leslie's "Sister in Sweat," Mary Kay, is there modifying for those who want more of a low-intensity workout (compensating by lower intensity in her steps and higher intensity in the kicks...some of the other reviewers need to really watch the routine and listen to what she's saying). The jogging and front/side kicks are metabolism boosters without causing this reviewer any pain. but your mileage may vary. Really good workout for those who want to graduate from a stroll in the park. Leslie workout "patter" is less instrusive than in other workouts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Workout
I have 4 of Leslie's workout tapes, and I enjoy them all. This one I like to do when I want to increase my workout just a notch or even sometimes when I want to stay low impact because she keeps one of her partners doing the low impact exercises. She is very encouraging and the workout is fun. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good video
This was a pretty effective exercise video. The routines on this video are realistic to follow.

4-0 out of 5 stars Efficient workouts despite the negatives
I agree with the reviewer who wished to edit out the comments of the workout partners.Donna is upbeat enough -- she doesn't need two annoying personalities cheering behind her (I swear, sometimes Donna seems annoyed too, but maybe I'm projecting).4-0 out of 5 stars fun and effective
I've been a fan of the Donna Richardson step and awesome abs video and was very pleased with the 4-day rotation video.I work full time plus have 2-young kids so the 15-minute work-outs are great for me.The only thing negative I have to say is that at times Donna and the two friends seemed to be talking simultaneously which was irritating and made it hard to understand Donna. Also, participants in the video should be aware that users will have to hear what they say over and over again--So I really find it irritating when one of the friend says, 'Now we're cooking' in a particulary annoying voice--I'd give anything to delete that!! However, all in all, a great video. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tones You
This workout is not really a cardio workout and you will need a step to do it.The warmup is short, but effective. The second segment which is 16minutes is great-it made me sweat and WILL tone your thighs and buns... the next segment is only 10min but includes lots of lunges(be careful if you have bad knees) the final segment wasn't as bad and was also 10min but was done on the ground and really was meant to tone you... very great!!! Overall a great video to tone your body... Not really a cardio workout but still excellent for strength!

5-0 out of 5 stars Less Jumpin', More Squatin'
This is the third Kathy Smith video I've tried and, like the others, I easily jumped right into the workout from the first playing thanks to Kathy's very clear and precise instructions. This video has the same set and most of the cast from Kathy's "Step Workout" video. Like her other videos, this workout includes a warmup (8 minutes), a workout divided into three segments (total of 36 minutes), and a cool down (5 minutes). 4-0 out of 5 stars Kathy Smith Great Buns & Thighs
I am a beginner/intermediate stepper. After doing Jane Fonda step aroebics and riding my bike for a week, I still found this step routine to be overly strenuous--you need to be in great shape already to do the workout! So far, I've only been able to do session 1 (warm-up, 8 min.) and 2 (16 minutes). Kathy is easy to follow, pleasant to listen to (unlike Denise Austin), and after feeling the "burn" several times, I feel confident that this routine will definitely give you great thighs and buns. ... Editorial Review

This 75-minute workout helped Kathy Ireland lose 40 pounds after the birth of her baby. Ireland is joined by an outdoor class of exercisers of both genders and all fitness levels, including one woman who is doing her first workout ever. The first segment is 30 minutes of very simple, low-impact aerobics. The moves are easy and repetitious, which is good if you're a beginner or you don't like choreography, and boring if you're experienced or like variety. Beginners will appreciate that Ireland demonstrates moves such as the grapevine in slow motion instead of assuming you know how to do it. The next segment is 25 minutes of total body conditioning without weights, such as lunges, pliés, and pushups. The final segment is 20 minutes of lower body "meltdown," traditional floor work for hips, buttocks, thighs, and abdominals. While you're resting afterwards, listen to 15 minutes of questions and answers. Read more

This movie had been sitting at the back of my fitness video collection for a few years, but I decided to pull it out the other day and see what it was like.I consider myself very fit.
5-0 out of 5 stars ExcellentWorkout
I am reordering this tape because the first one I ordered actually warped. This workout is amazing!! I lost 30 pounds that I had gained with my daughter within one month. I could feel the exercises working within a week. I love how it is broken down into 3 parts, amazing!! I still do this workout and my daughter is 6 years old. You can really keep up with the pace of this workout. This is an easy way to stay in shape!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars I was Literally Inspired
This is a GREAT workout video! I bought it on a whim last week and have used it almost every day so far. I've tried many other videos in the past but this is the one that has inspired me to actually do it most days.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tae Bo Ultimate Upper Body
This is an excellent video. It's very faced paced and more of an advanced workout, but it's one of the best upper body workouts I've found.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tae Bo Ultimate Upperbody
I love this tape as much as the others. This is a great one for those days when you don't have the time for a strength training routine.
