1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother
I went through 15 minutes of this exercise and just turned it off. The intructors work at such a pace that you end up just standing there wondering what they are talking about. It is just choppy and doesn't flow very well. Perhaps if I were a step-aerobic master I would appreciate it more, but probably not. There are many beter work outs than this one. I recommend those.

3-0 out of 5 stars Its okay.
Tamilee is great but I did not get the feel from the other two instructors. Its a good workout. Not the best. Its a little confusing with the cardio/step then muscle toning then cardio then muscle. You have to workout, stop pick up weights and back and forth.I do not have strong feelings about this one but I have only tried it once so far.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do they think women are afraid of weights?
I had this video, and got rid of it. I counted the reps, and many times there were only 6! This video would have been a keeper for me, if the arms were challenging. Not even using my 10 pound weights challenged me withthis video. This would be good, if you didn't want to tone your upper body, but wanted a good step workout with abs. If you want tighter arms, anddefinition, you won't get it with this video! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Three quick upper body workouts designed for all levels
This video consists of three upper body workouts which are designed to be performed either together or separately when you have less time.It is led by Petra Kolber, a competent fitness instructor who provides good form pointers.Petra works out with two assistants, one of whom shows easier modifications and one of whom occasionally displays a more challenging option.Since hand weights are used, this program adapts to any fitness level simply by increasing or decreasing the weights.5-0 out of 5 stars Great arm workout !
This video is a great arm workout. It starts with a 4 min. warm-up and then it has 3 different workouts:Segment 1 - 8 mins.; Segment 2 - 6 mins.; and Segment 3 - 8 mins. Each segment works the shoulders, biceps, triceps and back. So, you can do one or all of them. The instructorexplains each exercise, and there are so many different exercises that youwill not get bored. The instructor uses 1 set of weights during the wholevideo, but I like to use a heavier set for the biceps and back. The videoends with 2 minutes of stretching. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tones You
This workout is not really a cardio workout and you will need a step to do it.The warmup is short, but effective. The second segment which is 16minutes is great-it made me sweat and WILL tone your thighs and buns... the next segment is only 10min but includes lots of lunges(be careful if you have bad knees) the final segment wasn't as bad and was also 10min but was done on the ground and really was meant to tone you... very great!!! Overall a great video to tone your body... Not really a cardio workout but still excellent for strength!

5-0 out of 5 stars Less Jumpin', More Squatin'
This is the third Kathy Smith video I've tried and, like the others, I easily jumped right into the workout from the first playing thanks to Kathy's very clear and precise instructions. This video has the same set and most of the cast from Kathy's "Step Workout" video. Like her other videos, this workout includes a warmup (8 minutes), a workout divided into three segments (total of 36 minutes), and a cool down (5 minutes). 4-0 out of 5 stars Kathy Smith Great Buns & Thighs
I am a beginner/intermediate stepper. After doing Jane Fonda step aroebics and riding my bike for a week, I still found this step routine to be overly strenuous--you need to be in great shape already to do the workout! So far, I've only been able to do session 1 (warm-up, 8 min.) and 2 (16 minutes). Kathy is easy to follow, pleasant to listen to (unlike Denise Austin), and after feeling the "burn" several times, I feel confident that this routine will definitely give you great thighs and buns. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very Precise Well Executed Pilates Back Care Program
I have been doing Yoga daily for the past 9 years and have recently started to add Pilates into my program. Though I I have quite a few other excellent Pilates programs, there's no doubt that the Stott seem to have the best overall instruction.
3-0 out of 5 stars Good ideas, tedious in practice
As other reviewers have noted, the instructor talks and talks and talks and its very difficult to get a workout from this tape. You spend more time sitting and listening to her than actually DOING anything! I think the tape should have been designed to walk through the series of poses with instructions once, then they should have taped it a second time with the movements flowing into one another without all the intermittent chatter.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not what I was looking for
This video might be a good introduction to fitness for someone who is very sedentary and has a low back problem. However, in my case I am very active with a low back injury and the contents of this video had nothing to add to my workout routine.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners
If you are horribly uncoordinated, like I am, but want to start doing step, this is the perfect beginning step workout for you. Or if you need a step workout to do when you just don't feel like working out at all. This video gives you a great workout, don't get me wrong, but it is only 30 minutes long and the moves are uncomplicated, so it's easy to follow. I got my heart rate up and felt great doing it! I wouldn't suggest it for the person who is looking for a fast-paced advanced step workout though. I have used this video for quite a few years and still love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Step Aerobics Video for Beginners!!!
Marsha Macro makes this video easy and fun!Her positive attitude and encouragement throughout the video makes it very enjoyable as well. This is great for beginners. It is the only workout video I was able to complete the first time I tried it.Most workout videos are so intense, that I could not finish, and then I would feel badly about not finishing and eventually give up on the video and excercise.I get a great sense of accomplishment every time I do the video.I highly recommend it, and I wish it were on DVD, so I do not have to worry about my tape eventually wearing out!!!I guess I should get extra copies instead. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Ab Power Kest Style
I'm a big fan of Bryan Kest. He has a way of creating programs that are challenging physically without losing the essence of yoga. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Core of Power and Health
This is a very short tape, made up of two body-core centered workouts, one of which is a little harder than the other.Unlike some abs tapes, this tape does not so much isolate your abs as work them hard as part of your body core. You will really develop abdominal power and flexibility, as well as the Yoga glow that comes from deep breathing and a calm mind. You may not "feel the burn" the same way you would from crunches, but your abs and back will definitely thank you for these great strengthening and body-integrating movements.A good complement to the other Power tapes, Intensive Body Sculpting and the Weight Loss tape.

4-0 out of 5 stars Right to the spot
I liked this video for targeting right where it says, the abs. Moreover, it doesn't sacrifice any of the yoga, at least the way Bryan teaches, because I found myself still focusing on my breath with every movement.I like using this video on those days when I want to focus on my abs. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Most of this tape isn't belly dancing--although the instructors are professional belly dancers. Rather, this is a buttock and thigh workout starting with traditional leg lifts and lunges and leading to belly-dance inspired moves such as squeezing one buttock at a time or circling the hips. The latter exercises are fun and an interesting change from the usual lower-body exercise routine, but they don't really strengthen or define the buttock and thigh muscles much because there's no resistance (no body weight, no external weight). It will, however, increase hip and low-back flexibility. The fun really begins later in the 30-minute workout with "hip drops" and "hip lifts" with added leg and arm positions. By the end, you're prancing on your toes (good calf workout), flicking your hips to the sides, and feeling like a real belly dancer. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bellydance Based Workout
The last section of this workout video has perhaps one of the most amazing BellyDance routines I?ve yet to see. It was simply inspirational. Just a pity the credits were already moving along the left side obscuring some of the dancing. The outfit Veena or Neena Didasha was wearing was incredible. I want one. ;( Pout.It was like her entire body was under her control, very sexy.
1-0 out of 5 stars looks nice but no substance
This video had a beautiful set and everything, but in truth the content was neither good belldance instruction, nor was it fitness. As a fitness junkie, I noticed some of the exercises and stretches were performed incorrectly. I think the girls were hired for their look, which makes this a nice video to watch but not a workout to actually do or learn from.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shake those hips off
This is a great little tape. A 'typical' aerobics tape targeting specific areas would bore me, but months later I still enjoy this tape and the others in the bellytwins' series. The tape isn't too intense, but incorporates some fun moves (hip circles, hip lifts and so on) into a 30-minute routine laced with dance moves. If you want to spend half an hour getting revitalized, stretched and toned lower-body wise, you can't beat this investment. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Job Leslie!
I just finished working out to this new tape and I am very pleased with it. The quality is excellent. I do not have the Walk Away Belt, but use my stretchie band instead and it works great! It is an intense work out for 30 minutes and something most everyone can follow. Intense but not too intense. Go for it walkers!

2-0 out of 5 stars Least favorite
This ismy 4th Sansone tape--I am not entirely pleased with it. The transitions in both music and pace are pretty shaky. The belt offers me little resistance--I use 2 pound hand weights instead. This is my least favorite tape. I use it after the 3 mile or 3 mile walk tape.

4-0 out of 5 stars WORTH THE PURCHASE
I HAVE 4 OF LESLIE'S FAT BURNING WALK AWAY THE POUNDS VIDEOS.I HAVE BEEN USING THEM FOR ABOUT SIX MONTHS AND HAVE LOST 2 ENTIRE SIZES.THEY ARE EASY TO FOLLOW AND ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN DOING THEM FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS YOU CAN COMPLETE THE ENTIRE TAPE AND REALLY FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE GOTTEN A GOOD WORK OUT.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Accessible but challenging
I bought all three Get Fit Fast tapes (legs, arms, abs) as part of a general effort to get in shape and lose weight. I've been using the tapes for about two weeks now, doing a different one each day, and I already notice a difference.
5-0 out of 5 stars You have found the right video to get! Read review
I do not usually take the time to write reviews, however, I must write a review for a few of Denise Austin's newer videos that I have been seeing fabulous results from recently.I am the 35 year old mom of 3 young girls under the age of 8.I had gained more than 40 pounds that were (VERY) unwanted, from having kids, and dating my honey in college.Using a sensible, nutrition plan like Denise descibes in her "Shrink your female fat zones" - which means moderation, not short term deprivation which eventually results in you bouncing back and gaining extra pounds: Thus, I watch my carbs (focusing on consuming the "good" ones, eat lots of fruit and veggies, drink lots of water, and do have a sweet bite if I feel like it - but KNOW I must then go exercise it off).I have focused on learning about "proper" nutrition - what foods do to me literally, and sucking it up and cutting out the bad things like transfats, refined "dead" flours, and soda (yep, sorry - it can be tough to quit - but it's worth it!! And PLEASE do not drink diet sodas - unless you really are willing to accept that you may end up with Fibromyalgia or other negative side effects.I honestly feel fabulous since cutting out soda! I do have up to 2 cups of coffee per day - using Splenda to sweeten the coffee. For my exercise routine I am walking on my treadmill about 3 days a week (walking 2 miles at 4mph, takes 30 minutes = excellent cardio fat burner - put music cd on headset, read while walking or just get into the music and 2 miles goes by quickly) and then using Denise Austin's Get fit fast 3 video set (Abs, Arms and Shoulders, and Legs and Buns) a couple days per week, then also I have added the new Shrink you female fat zones video which is 2 - 20 minute segments - one with a stability ball, and one without.I am telling you that this simple easy-to-follow plan rocks! The short videos are awesome spot training - and you WILL know you worked your muscles! Each of the 3 videos has 3 different segments on them; advancing in difficulty as you go.All the newest, most effective moves are used - like ballet, kick boxing, etc. Then as far as the "Shrink your female fat zones" video - I just got it and I LOVE the workouts - both are short (easy to fit in with kids - you can workout while a baby is strapped in a high chair eating breakfast...hint, hint) yet like the other 3 videos, you'll KNOW you got a workout! And the stability ball... I LOVE IT!!!I noticed immedietly it gave me added support for my back and neck and it eliminates the need for a fancy, space-consuming weight machine! The results: I have gone from a size 12 medium/large to a size 8 small/medium - in only 2 months!!!!!I do not weigh myself often as per Denise Austin's teaching - because she is so right - the muscle I am creating is heavier than fat, BUT takes up MUCH less space!I do know from the last time I weighed myself, that I only have 20 more pounds to reach my target weight of 120 pounds for my petite 5'2" body - and I feel great! My husband told me a couple of days ago when he pinched my rear end ;-) that he noticed how firm I am getting!!!!! YES!I also have noticed that my abs (even after having a c-section 5 years ago) are very firm, my thighs are finally toning and shrinking, and my upper arms are finally near strapless-top condition!!The muscles are defining and cut! I have only made changes that I could keep for LIFE and done a little exercise nearly every day, just like Denise said.It has set the example for my children as well - since I have explained to them that the importance is that I am physically fit and strong and taking care of my muscles (which includes my heart!)I also highly recommend getting on Denise Austin's daily motivation and nutrition/exercise email list via Lifetime - I have gained so many nuggets from Denise!I also wanted to comment that I have been a long time (5 year) user of TaeBo - and it also is very effective and great for adding to Denise Austin's workouts for diversity.Using TaeBo over the past 5 years I have lost more that 3 inches in each thigh, my buttocks, etc - over 25 inches lost using the diverse but simple program I described - and YOU can do it too!

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT VIDEO, Y'ALL
I have been using this video for about 2 years now. There are three levels (as others mention in their reviews), but I stay on the first one.I like the first 10-minute workout because it's fast and simple: no chairs, no props, etc.I can just incorporate it into my routine (I spin, do push-ups, sit-ups and all that business), and it is EFFECTIVE.I must say, my husband thinks Denise sounds like a 2-pack-a-day smoker, and that just adds to the family fun!!I think she's great, and she knows about women's bodies.I have recommended this to my mom, my best bud--everyone. ... Editorial Review

Pilates is an intense, controlled way of working your coremuscles--the back and abdominal muscles that stabilize your body--usingtechnique, breathing, and concentration. Veteran instructor Kathy Smithleads an effective 30-minute Pilates workout. The 8-minute warm-upteaches the essentials of Pilates, followed by a 22-minute Pilatesroutine that targets the abdominals. Smith is an excellent instructorwith a knack for explaining technique clearly. "Imagine a balloonpulling you up toward the opposite wall," she says as she teaches thedifficult Teaser. She demonstrates the basic, sometimes modified, moveswith another exerciser showing more advanced positions. Smith continuesto emphasize technique, breathing, and proper position through eachexercise, making sure you understand how to get the most out of eachmovement. This is an excellent introduction to Pilates, especially--butnot exclusively--for beginners to this discipline. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars good beginner workout
This is a really good abs workout. It is shorter than SMith's other pilates workout for the lower body.I found that the exercises were harder and I was unable to complete the workout the first time. However, I give this workout four stars because it has some of the same ecercises as the Lower Body workout and it is not as long. I simply felt that Kathy Smith's Pilates for the Lower Body was the better video of the two. This works best when used with that workout.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great technique pointers make this a great abs workout!
At the start of this video, Kathy Smith takes a full 7 minutes to discuss proper form and alignment. She covers important Pilates terms such as the powerhouse, and she also offers detailed form pointers including how to pull your navel toward your spine, how to tilt your pelvis, and how to contract your pelvic floor (similar to Kegel exercises).Although I was already familiar with Pilates, I found this section to be a very helpful refresher, and I appreciated Kathy's unique instruction.3-0 out of 5 stars Good introduction for beginning exerciser
This video would make an excellent introduction to Pilates for the beginning exerciser. As usual, Kathy explains each movement very well and reminds the exerciser to engage the powerhouse throughout the video. However she spends little time on each movement and the intensity level is very low.As an intermediate/advanced exerciser I did not feel like I got a good workout - way too short in reps and too long in instruction for longterm use to be of benefit. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars My Point of Contact
I had a ruptured disc, and a pinched nerve in my back.I had been to several doctors, and the last one, nerve specialist said all that was left was to have surgery.I just mentioned to a lady that I was in so much pain that I could not sit down, and what my problem was, and she said "I have what you need" she told me she had previously had 3 ruptured discs and this had helped her.I ordered the video and in the second week the pain went away.I finished all 6 weeks, and I have never had another problem. That was about 9 years ago.I highly recommend this video, and encourage you to stick with it.Don't give up! It works!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Program
This program of exercises for troublesome backs is great! There are several levels of difficulty, you can choose which level to do.The music is nice and relaxing, as is the narrator's voice.I wish it was available on DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Blessed Video
This video means so much to me and to all the people I know who have used it. It is sad that it is not available now to people who need it. Someone told me that the only place they could find it now is at Collage Video which has a catalog and an online store just for exercise videos. This video should be permanently available and should be in DVD now but I don't think it is. All I can say is this video is a lifesaver. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Couldn't get the routines down
I spent most of my time trying to follow the combination of exercises and most times I did not get them. And the routintes change very fast.Unless you are really quick at picking up routines, this video will most likely frustrate you.The ab workout at the end was pretty decent.

5-0 out of 5 stars A WONDERFUL VIDEO!
I'm a big fan of Donna Richardson and this video was the first video from her collection that I bought. I actually firmed my arms and abs within 30 days! I use the video every chance I get. Donna Richardson is a great motivator and I would really love to follow in her steps one day.

4-0 out of 5 stars Basic abdominal endurance
I've had this video for a number of years and always return to it. It has a warm-up followed by approximately 12 mins of floor abdominal work using a chair on which to prop your feet, followed by the second half in which no chair is used. All the moves are basic and familiar. No moves are out of the reach of the beginner. The key to this tape is variety, and endurance. Joanie moves without hesitation from one exercise to the next. The workout is almost aerobic in nature. All parts of the abdominal wall are worked. She is constantly queing and giving out tidbits of information. I would recommend this video for any level of exerciser. ... Read more
