If I do this tape without any weights, i can get thru the entire tape, feel sore for the next day and see results.If i use the weights i can only do 1/2 the tape, feel sore the next day and see results.I try to switch it up, one week use weights, the next week no weights.My legs are pretty thin and show muscle quickly which is fortunate for me.

I love Tamilee. She knows her stuff and keeps you motivated. I have all 3 I want those ABS, Arms and buns. I would have purchsed I want that Body but already had the seperate tapes. They are all great.I just wish there was a little more for the Triceps. My fatest part of my arm. I also enjoy the Firm workouts as well as Denise Austins Pilates and Blast 10 lbs. Tamilee's workouts can be as intense as you make them. Increase your weights! You can always pick up lighter ones if it gets to hard. These workouts target the area and really give it a workout.

This strength workout for your arms is challenging for beginners through advanced.(obviously by increasing the amount of weights your use).I like it b/c its concise and down to business.There is no "dancy" moves or too long of a warm up.I really recommend this workout to anyone. I hope she comes out with an "I want those legs!".....her ab video is also VERY good.and challenging!Do it for about 3-4 weeks then switch it up with other workouts so you don't hit a plateau.you can always increase the weights as well!Go for it!you will FEEL it.:) ... I really liked the video. The only thing is thatshe goes pretty fast and in the beginning it is hard to stay with her.I don't recommend it for a beginner, but great for the intermediate or advanced level person.

I love Tamilee Webb's videos.SHe has excellent cuing, the exercise tapes that she makes are really effective (of course if you are consistent!) and she is very non-threatening.Legs of STeel is a wonderful change from the usual leg exercises and instead of laying down these exercises are performed using a chair for support while standing.5-0 out of 5 stars I'd say this is not just for beginners
I have this tape, and while it is one of my easier lower body tapes, I feel it still challenges me. I use a Spri rubber exercise band instead of the ankle weights and feel it is tougher by pulling for resistance, rather than a weighted leg. I also use heavy weights during the squat sections. Every leg exercise is separated with a series of squats. At the end of the routine, you do each exercise a 2nd time. Then at the very end, you do 2 sets of 10 lunges, but with those you use plyometrics and switch your legs in mid air. I often use my heavy weights and just do stationary lunges instead, then switch legs on the 2nd set. Read more

I love tamilee but this video is soo boring.My buns dont feel at all sore.It was a nice cardio workout but thats about it. I was hoping for more bun work since it is called BUNS of steel.

I like this video, yes it's a little dated and it's not the toughest routine in the world but I always get a good workout with this video.Tamilee Webb leads you through a 40 minute step routine along with 2 background exercisers, Lori who shows some easier modifications, and Megan who is the advanced stepper and uses a higher platform.They are dressed in animal print outfits and are in the same drab setting as most of the Buns of Steel workouts are filmed.But for me it doesn't take away from the workout at all.

This video is a decent, although somewhat repetitive, beginner/intermediate workout. The moves are pretty simple if you've done step before, and in general are well instructed and easy to learn. One thing that bothered me was that, like so many exercise videos, the beginning, very simple moves are reviewed extensively, and then some of the more complicated, high intensity moves are just thrown in without much explanation. This is only frustrating for the first couple viewings, though, because after a few times you've learned them. I am what I would consider intermediate, and while I do get a nice sweat going here I never feel very challenged. The moves WILL work your butt if you really commit to the moves (lots of squats and lunges). Basically, this is a good tape if you want a nice workout on a day where you don't want to really push yourself. Tamilee Webb is a friendly and non-irritating instructor, but the sound quality in the tape is awful. Several times you can barely hear her over the music, which is pretty bad. When you can hear her, however, she sounds great, supportive and energetic without the shrillness of other instructors. I enjoyed this tape, but the sound quality and lack of challenge for an "intermediate/advanced" tape made me feel it should be a three, not a four star rating. ... Read more

This is a great workout for the upper body.Tamilee Webb really gives a good routine for the upper body and abdominals.She alternates arm workouts and ab workouts.She does a few minutes of arms then a few minutes of abdominals.Tamilee uses a pair of three pound dumbells for the arm exercises.I like to use heavier dumbells for the arm exercises.She also uses a chair for the workout to sit in while doing the arms.She also uses the chair for my favorite part of the video.She does a supper set of tricep dips on the chair.First does a set using both arms,then she gives you a chance to do one arm tricep dips.It is really effective.The abdominal work is all done on the floor.Tamilee really knows what to do for the abs.It is really effective abdominal crunches.It you are a big fan of Tamilee Webb`s Abs of Steel videos.You will also be a fan of this one.

I had a few problems with this video.First of all, the appearance is very dated looking, especially given that Tamilee wears a visor throughout the workout.The set is very plain, and the production quality is poor.With respect to the exercises themselves, I'm concerned that some of the moves she does for abs may be bad for the neck.In Tamilee's more recent videos, she has eliminated these exercises, so I wonder if they are no longer recommended.The arms workout is good but consists of mostly traditional moves, although Tamilee does add a few twists such as doing a set of bicep curls coming only halfway up instead of a full curl.5-0 out of 5 stars Arms & Abs is excellent!
I used to do lots of traditional push-ups and sit ups to keep in shape for Military Physical Fitness tests.I now alternate between Arms & Abs and Arms & Abs 2.I have worked up to using fairly heavy weights (dumbells) between 15 & 40 lbs.Physical Fitness tests are no problem.An overall great workout that with the occasional fast forward, allows you to keep up your heart rate for the additional cardio-vascular benefit. ... i like this tape. as much as i groan complain during the workout i have been doing this one for about 3 weeks now and notice great results. the guy is stupid, disregard his left/right leg instructions. just follow the instructors and you will be just fine. i would have given it 5 stars if they had gotten someone else as a 'host' for this program. some of the music is not great, either, but all in all this program will give you stronger abdominals.

Usually the firm is great with their "10 workouts and you will see results thing". But ive been doing this tape on and off for over a year now and while it seems tough at the time my abs are never sore the next day and they look the same as they did a year ago.

As a long-time fan of Tamilee Webb and her body, PLATINUM SERIES BUNS OF STEEL 2000 is not the first of her exercise videos I have viewed.But compared to all the others, it is equal to or better than the finest aspects of those other ABS OF STEEL and BUNS OF STEEL Tamilee Webb tapes.

In reading the previous reviews on the Buns of Steel 2000 workout, I HAD to post my own review.All of the Buns of Steel (Buns of Steel 2000 Step Workout, Thighs of Steel 2000, and this Buns of Steel 2000 version) are truly AMAZING.I have been using the 3 of these (in addition to a couple other tapes) for about 10 years now (about 4 times a week) and it STILL makes me sore, at least while I'm doing the exercises.After 10 years I still feel that the exercises are working.And I can also see in how my body looks that they definitely are working.I honestly can't believe anyone would have anything negative to say about any of the Platinum edition Buns of Steel workouts.I find myself sweating and out of breath (signs that I'm getting a good workout) every single time I use them.I can't say that about most other workout tapes.If you don't have these and are looking for a good workout, get them while you can.They really need to get them all on DVD.I know my tapes won't last forever...

This tape has given me a great waistline.On use this tape almost everyday along with the other 5-day abs tape from the Firm.There are 5 seperate ab workouts compiled from other great Firm workouts.Firm Cardio,Firm Stength,Better Body,Better Buns are just to name a few.

This is a later version of the original Firm 5 day abs video, and the one I prefer.It contains clips of ab work from Better Body and Buns, Fat Blaster, Maximum Body Shaping, Firm Strength and Firm Cardio, in that order.Each routine runs about 5-6 minutes long and has a brief introduction before each clip.Some of the ab routines use light weights for resistance which is optional of course.My personal favorite is Day 2, from Fat Blaster, the music really fits the routine and it is fun as well as effective, at least I always feel it anyway.But all the routines are unique and interesting in their own way.My favorite Firm videos are from the "middle era", following the classic volumes 1-6 and preceding the BSS1, BSS2, BSS3 and BSS4 series.These are some of the best ab routines and I am glad that they are all available on one video.Firm and tone your abs every day of the week!

Am 39yrs and wish that I had found this workout a decade earlier.After a month of consistently working out to this video, my buns are in the BEST shape of my entire life.In the beginning I could barely make it thru the first 15 minutes & groaned every time I tried to sit down.Really focusing on technique and following her instructions helped.Done incorrectly, you will stress your knees.Because I'm pear-shaped & trouble spots are more south of the border- I appreciate the fact she gets right down to business and targets these areas with exercises designed to strengthen and define the glutes/thighs/etc.In addition to the Buns video, I have added Leslie Sansone's 4-mile power-walk to the mix.Down 20# and continually working altho I've hit a plateau...probably because I'm still a night snacker (darn it).My husband commented that the top of my rear was extremely firm (nice he noticed)- but I still need to work on the lower rear and upper thighs.Am going to attempt both 15min workouts a day- instead of alternating.Should see more results kicking it up a notch.Thanks Tamilee for a FABULOUS dvd.

Even though the exercises she did were simple, and ones we all already know, she helps you understand why they're important and what area they are working.It was great to just be able to follow someone, while working out - and it definitely worked my buns and thighs.I felt a difference after only 3 or 4 workouts.They were so intense I could only do one of the 15 minute programs for the first 7-10 days before I could do both programs on the same day! I recommend this to someone who wants simple, easy to do exercises that work.You're not doing a bunch of dancing around doing moves you don't know.

Some of the other DVDs I've tried (like the Yoga Zone one) aren't vigorous enough for me.If you have more serious back problems, maybe they're what you need.Rodney Yee explains that after you get to know the video you can take those sections that are the most useful for you, and that's what I've done.A lot of the other reviewers have dissed the first section ("Exploration") for being boring or not challenging enough, but it's just what I need.My backaches are caused in part by contracted muscles in the lower back, and section 1 is really excellent at helping you stretch and relax those muscles. Section 2 is for strengthening and is also very necessary.

This workout, led by Leisa Hart is 40 minutes of upper body and ab work.It is very complete in hitting all the muscles and Leisa provides excellent instruction and form pointers.All you need are a set of dumbells, Leisa used 3 lbs, I used a set of 5 and 8 lbs.

This video is now 10 years old (released in 1994), yet it still provides an excellent upper body workout.It begins with a 6-minute warm-up which consists of fairly simple, slightly dancey-type moves.Next comes 6 minutes of standing upper body toning, which includes many standard exercises such as lat rows, overhead press, french press, and upright rows.The next 8 minutes are performed in a kneeling position, and each move is executed on one side of the body at a time for greater concentration on the muscles.This section includes concentration curls, lat rows, and tricep kick-backs which alternate with two sets of push-ups.

This tape is still good though a little dated.The excercises aren't dated though.I do prefer the first section and I rewind for the double aerobics,which gives you quite a bit of squatting and leg pressing.For floor work,there are probably better tapes out there.Still LaReine is a good role model and she is pleasant and not annoying like many instructors.It is not really total body,but there is only so much you can do in 45 minutes.

I llike this tape. The aerobics is step aerobics, using light weights. The waltz type step work is great for the buns. It can be a bit confusing to do the steps while holding weights, but after doing the tape a few times, you will get the hang of it. It has a feature where you can rewind and do the aerobics twice, making the total aerobic time of 22 minutes. If you are short on time, don't rewind and you will get about 11 minutes of aerobics. If you do the "double aerobics" you will end up doing 4 sets of leg press on each leg. The floor work is great and really targets the lower body. I've been buying a number of The Firm tapes, and this is one of my favorites.After warmup and stretching, there's a 10 minute cardio section involving a step.You are cued when to rewind if you want a longer cardio section.The hips and things sculpting involved weights and different positioning, and is great.I wished the ab workout was a little more varied in the type of exercise involved, and it didn't involve any weights.Read more

You know step aerobic workouts are great fat burners, but did you realize how well they define and sculpt the lower-body muscles? This superb 50-minute workout is one of Kathy Smith's best. She uses the step positioned perpendicular to the TV, so rather than the usual up-up-down-down moves, you're stepping up from the side and lifting the other leg, or going over the top. This workout is divided into three parts. After a 6-minute workout, segment 1 (16 minutes) builds muscle endurance with an aerobic workout using moves that focus on the thigh and buttock muscles. The routine is intense and athletic, with no dance moves or complicated arm work. Smith includes some optional plyometric (jumping) moves. Segment 2 (10 minutes) uses intense, standing exercises to strengthen and shape the buttocks and thighs, such as squats straddling the step and lunges with one foot on the step. Segment 3 (10 minutes) uses high-intensity isolation exercises, similar to traditional floor work with some innovative additions, weights optional. Then a 5-minute cool down lets your muscles stretch and recover. I like this workout, it is about an hour long and while it is billed as a step workout, there are lots of toning moves for the lower body as well.Overall a good leg and bun shaper and you will feel it.Led by Kathy Smith, she is joined by a fairly large class, mostly female who are of various fitness levels.

I recently bought The Step wich came with Cathe Frederick's Basic Step. After mastering that, I felt I should move on to a more intermediate video and after a little online shopping, decided to purchase this video.

I've had this tape forever and just peeked over to see if it is on DVD- currently unavailable unfortunately. This is one of those rare lower body tapes that is, blessedly, ALL FLOOR WORK. Yay! And what great floor work it is. Not too tough, but absolutely effective. You will see results soon with this very balanced, smart tape. Tracey Long is a good instructor, pleasant, good cueing and descriptions. This is a major winner in my repertoire. Love it!!! Great ab work also.

I've been using this tape now for about four months.Incredibly, I've gone from tight size 12 jeans to loose size 8 jeans without losing one pound! It's amazing how much tighter and smaller I am, and I owe it all to this tape.Some of the tape uses ankle weights and dumbells, which you can keep increasing in weight so the tape never gets too easy.I use the tape three or four times a week.If you buy this tape, make sure that you send away for the free tape that "The Firm" provides- "20 questions on fitness"- it's very informative.

This is an excellent workout for the buns, hips and thighs.Tracy Long is an excellent right to the point instructor and will keep you right on queue all the way through. The tape does start with a very good abdominal workout.Without it, you wouldn't see the same nice shaping of the hips.Those core stabilizer muscles are essential for all other body shaping and should be worked every time you workout. This tape also works all the major muscle groups from the waist down including the all important pelvic floor muscles.It's a short tape which is perfect for those days when you're running late but want to get in a good solid workout.As with all Firm tapes, this tape can be adapted to the beginner through advanced levels by adding weights.Read more

"Just 10 minutes every other day!" is Denise Austin's prescription for a flat, defined midsection, and she should know. Despite two babies, she has the abs of a teenage athlete. In this video, Austin presents a gazillion abdominal exercises formatted into three different 10-minute workouts. She gives plenty of instruction, with tips for form, alignment, and breathing, as well as the proper way to perform each move. Exercises target the rectus abdominis and obliques, and are varied enough so that you won't feel you're doing the same workout each day. A few of the exercises seem outdated and are less effective than others. Full sit-ups, little pulsing crunches, and standing twists, for example, don't work the abs as well as regular, slow crunches. And some of the exercises in the third segment could be stressful to your lower back if you don't already have strong abs. But Austin still gets credit for plenty of variety, which is what we want if we're committing ourselves to 10 minutes of abs every other day. Read more

This is a great tape. I am a 48 year old mom of 3, and still had that baby fat in my abdomen area from my last baby-now 13:). My stomach has always been a problem area since high school.Denise is encouraging, informative,and a pleasure to do these exercises with.I have been doing my own absexercies for over a year - not real good results, and as she states in thisvideo - you will see results in 6 weeks.That is where I am at this point,and waited to write this to see if it was true.I enjoy this tape so muchI am doing it twice a day now.I highly recommend this tape to anyonewanting to tone up the abs and waist.I do all three of the segments, asshe makes it fun, with very good directions, and tips. It has really helpedmy self esteem, and my feelings about my body.Thank you Denise! Sowonderful to be getting back into shape. Go for it!

Trust me, you will feel the burn after doing this one...I started using it with my roommates, and it is great!You can't talk yourself out of doing it because it is only 10 minutes.After doing it regularly (andseeing results), we stepped up to the second and third levels, sometimesdoing two together for a serious workout!Denise has a great attitude (sheis so bubbly that she can make you laugh sometimes, which is hard to doduring an ab video), and she really shows you how to do the moves correctlyfor maximum effectiveness.You DON'T have to do 500 situps a night forgreat abs-- you can let Denise Austin help you get them in 10 minutes aday.I run this tape into the ground and never get sick of it! ...
