I accidentally gave this tape away and now am going to buy a new one. I wanted a DVD so I tried the newer buns of steel DVD's, but none of them do the floor work outs. Greg gets you on the floor to really target all kinds of muscles in there that you didn't even know you had. And he makes sure you are in the right position and understand the move before starting each one. All the other DVD's just have you do squats and lunges over and over and it can be rough on your knees and they go fast without concern of tequnique or injury. Each one of Gregs exercises is unique and does not hurt your back or knees. I am an athlete, and let me tell you this video will give you above and beyond what just rigourous excercise can do. It gives you shape, form and reduction of cellulite in those very difficult areas! And greg is not annoying, at no time do you want to slap him like those peppy ladies. He is nice and encouraging

I like Jaime's videos. I hate to work my thighs and buns. But this workout is fast and effective. I have bad knees so I have to modify some of the moves but that creates no problems as I still get a very effective workout.

This workout is a good compact workout for the glutes at intermediate level. I don't know if beginners could keep with it at first. The second part for legs is not challenging (except for the numerous lunges) but it will keep you toned up.

I love this workout.The look of the tape changed, and I had lost my first copy and thought I wouldn't find it again, but here it is.I have lost wieght, and gained muscle and slim shape with this workout.For graduation from university, I wanted to wear a tight lycra dress and this tape gave me the shape to wear my dress with nothing dragging behind!Thank you Tamilee!

I have at least 20 exercise videos and not too much time to work out, and this one is TOPS.This video is short, intense, SAFE for my bad knees, and extremely effective.Be ready to have to increase your protein intake after doing this one a few times, because it'll really work your muscles.I just wore out my original video and have ordered two more before it's no longer available.You'll feel ALOT stronger and have better posture for having done it.I can't recommend it enough.Good luck!Nita ... ok, i used these tapes for about a week-- already, they're warping (and apparently i'm not the first person to experience this).the workouts are good for what they are.you will feel the burn, but don't expect quick & dramatic results from 8 minutes.the abs workout is most challenging for me, mostly because it puts a lot of strain on the neck (at least it does for me-- maybe i'm doing something horribly wrong), so my neck muscles were sore after the first couple of times.now i just cheat-- i put my hands in the back of my head for some of the moves instead of leaving them at my side.that helps.re: the buns workout, it's good, but (and again, this might just be me-- i have sensitive skin...), my living room is carpeted, and since most of the moves are floor moves, my forearms started to get really irritated after a few workouts.also, there's really no "counting" in the tapes, really-- you just do the move for 45 seconds or a minute or whatever.the people in the tape do them at different paces.for me, it's confusing, although i can see how that flexibility is useful for beginners who need to go a bit slower.i'd say the workouts are an ok bargain-- they go by fast, and the moves are good.for real results, though, combine them with other workouts or activities.i don't think it's realistic to expect too much from an 8-minute workout...

I was surprised to find that there is only one 8 minute workout on each tape, unlike the Abs of Steel tapes which contain 3 workouts to rotate. The actual content of the tapes varied. The moves on the abs tape were customary and effective, although after doing the same routine daily for a while it would likely lose its impact. The buns video was not as effective and terribly hard on the knees. I had concerns about the form and discontinued doing it to be on the safe side. Both tapes are extremely fast paced and it is important to move at your own speed so that your moves are done safely and properly. When I was looking for a way to keep doing aerobics, I turned naturally to Kathy Smith, whose tapes I have been doing for years.But the reviews editorially and from the customers were so bad, I didn't want to take a chance.I also do a lot of Buns of Steel work outs from the 90s, and so when I saw there was a pregnancy tape, I decided to give it a try.The moves are fun and she adds on so you don't get bored.She also does a section of lunges, squats and some stomach work.I think it is a great 40 minutes.Plus the people in the video are really pregnant!!!

I like this video, yes it's a little dated and it's not the toughest routine in the world but I always get a good workout with this video.Tamilee Webb leads you through a 40 minute step routine along with 2 background exercisers, Lori who shows some easier modifications, and Megan who is the advanced stepper and uses a higher platform.They are dressed in animal print outfits and are in the same drab setting as most of the Buns of Steel workouts are filmed.But for me it doesn't take away from the workout at all.

This video is a decent, although somewhat repetitive, beginner/intermediate workout. The moves are pretty simple if you've done step before, and in general are well instructed and easy to learn. One thing that bothered me was that, like so many exercise videos, the beginning, very simple moves are reviewed extensively, and then some of the more complicated, high intensity moves are just thrown in without much explanation. This is only frustrating for the first couple viewings, though, because after a few times you've learned them. I am what I would consider intermediate, and while I do get a nice sweat going here I never feel very challenged. The moves WILL work your butt if you really commit to the moves (lots of squats and lunges). Basically, this is a good tape if you want a nice workout on a day where you don't want to really push yourself. Tamilee Webb is a friendly and non-irritating instructor, but the sound quality in the tape is awful. Several times you can barely hear her over the music, which is pretty bad. When you can hear her, however, she sounds great, supportive and energetic without the shrillness of other instructors. I enjoyed this tape, but the sound quality and lack of challenge for an "intermediate/advanced" tape made me feel it should be a three, not a four star rating. ... Read more

As a long-time fan of Tamilee Webb and her body, PLATINUM SERIES BUNS OF STEEL 2000 is not the first of her exercise videos I have viewed.But compared to all the others, it is equal to or better than the finest aspects of those other ABS OF STEEL and BUNS OF STEEL Tamilee Webb tapes.

In reading the previous reviews on the Buns of Steel 2000 workout, I HAD to post my own review.All of the Buns of Steel (Buns of Steel 2000 Step Workout, Thighs of Steel 2000, and this Buns of Steel 2000 version) are truly AMAZING.I have been using the 3 of these (in addition to a couple other tapes) for about 10 years now (about 4 times a week) and it STILL makes me sore, at least while I'm doing the exercises.After 10 years I still feel that the exercises are working.And I can also see in how my body looks that they definitely are working.I honestly can't believe anyone would have anything negative to say about any of the Platinum edition Buns of Steel workouts.I find myself sweating and out of breath (signs that I'm getting a good workout) every single time I use them.I can't say that about most other workout tapes.If you don't have these and are looking for a good workout, get them while you can.They really need to get them all on DVD.I know my tapes won't last forever...

Am 39yrs and wish that I had found this workout a decade earlier.After a month of consistently working out to this video, my buns are in the BEST shape of my entire life.In the beginning I could barely make it thru the first 15 minutes & groaned every time I tried to sit down.Really focusing on technique and following her instructions helped.Done incorrectly, you will stress your knees.Because I'm pear-shaped & trouble spots are more south of the border- I appreciate the fact she gets right down to business and targets these areas with exercises designed to strengthen and define the glutes/thighs/etc.In addition to the Buns video, I have added Leslie Sansone's 4-mile power-walk to the mix.Down 20# and continually working altho I've hit a plateau...probably because I'm still a night snacker (darn it).My husband commented that the top of my rear was extremely firm (nice he noticed)- but I still need to work on the lower rear and upper thighs.Am going to attempt both 15min workouts a day- instead of alternating.Should see more results kicking it up a notch.Thanks Tamilee for a FABULOUS dvd.

Even though the exercises she did were simple, and ones we all already know, she helps you understand why they're important and what area they are working.It was great to just be able to follow someone, while working out - and it definitely worked my buns and thighs.I felt a difference after only 3 or 4 workouts.They were so intense I could only do one of the 15 minute programs for the first 7-10 days before I could do both programs on the same day! I recommend this to someone who wants simple, easy to do exercises that work.You're not doing a bunch of dancing around doing moves you don't know.

You know step aerobic workouts are great fat burners, but did you realize how well they define and sculpt the lower-body muscles? This superb 50-minute workout is one of Kathy Smith's best. She uses the step positioned perpendicular to the TV, so rather than the usual up-up-down-down moves, you're stepping up from the side and lifting the other leg, or going over the top. This workout is divided into three parts. After a 6-minute workout, segment 1 (16 minutes) builds muscle endurance with an aerobic workout using moves that focus on the thigh and buttock muscles. The routine is intense and athletic, with no dance moves or complicated arm work. Smith includes some optional plyometric (jumping) moves. Segment 2 (10 minutes) uses intense, standing exercises to strengthen and shape the buttocks and thighs, such as squats straddling the step and lunges with one foot on the step. Segment 3 (10 minutes) uses high-intensity isolation exercises, similar to traditional floor work with some innovative additions, weights optional. Then a 5-minute cool down lets your muscles stretch and recover. I like this workout, it is about an hour long and while it is billed as a step workout, there are lots of toning moves for the lower body as well.Overall a good leg and bun shaper and you will feel it.Led by Kathy Smith, she is joined by a fairly large class, mostly female who are of various fitness levels.

I've had this tape forever and just peeked over to see if it is on DVD- currently unavailable unfortunately. This is one of those rare lower body tapes that is, blessedly, ALL FLOOR WORK. Yay! And what great floor work it is. Not too tough, but absolutely effective. You will see results soon with this very balanced, smart tape. Tracey Long is a good instructor, pleasant, good cueing and descriptions. This is a major winner in my repertoire. Love it!!! Great ab work also.

I've been using this tape now for about four months.Incredibly, I've gone from tight size 12 jeans to loose size 8 jeans without losing one pound! It's amazing how much tighter and smaller I am, and I owe it all to this tape.Some of the tape uses ankle weights and dumbells, which you can keep increasing in weight so the tape never gets too easy.I use the tape three or four times a week.If you buy this tape, make sure that you send away for the free tape that "The Firm" provides- "20 questions on fitness"- it's very informative.

This is an excellent workout for the buns, hips and thighs.Tracy Long is an excellent right to the point instructor and will keep you right on queue all the way through. The tape does start with a very good abdominal workout.Without it, you wouldn't see the same nice shaping of the hips.Those core stabilizer muscles are essential for all other body shaping and should be worked every time you workout. This tape also works all the major muscle groups from the waist down including the all important pelvic floor muscles.It's a short tape which is perfect for those days when you're running late but want to get in a good solid workout.As with all Firm tapes, this tape can be adapted to the beginner through advanced levels by adding weights.Read more

You get two 25-minute workouts here: both are low-impact, aerobic routines alternating with intervals of lower-body muscle work using the body's resistance, no weights. The aerobic segments are taught by Fonda and two other instructors. The choreography is simple--nothing more complicated than step-touch, grapevine, heel digs, marches, and hamstring curls--and each move is repeated many times. If you like choreography challenges, this video won't hold your interest, but if you like to keep your choreography simple, or if you're a beginner to aerobic dance, you'll be at ease here. The intervals of lower-body training, taught by Fonda, include moves such as stationary lunges, squats (without weights), and standing leg lifts. Both workouts end with abdominals and a stretch. i can see where this dvd would not be challenging for someone who prefers advanced workouts. the steps are easy (once learned) so if you are looking for major challenge then look elsewhere. i on the otherhand have never participated in aerobic excercises until over a month ago when i purchased this dvd. i was looking to tone up my legs which i find is exactly what is happening. i started by alternating both segments for the first 3 weeks, then i combined both workouts in one day to provide me with a 50 minute workout. I follow the high intesity level for the most part. it gets me a bit breathless and does break me into a sweat by the second workout. the toning segments are intense and for the first couple of weeks i was sore - but now, i feel the difference - i can still feel "the burn", but am growing stronger. eventually i will alternate this with something a bit more challenging but do plan on continuing it for the calorie burning benefits.

This video is supposed to contain excercises to sculpt your abdominals, buns, and thighs, the problem is they spend little time doing exackly that!They spend half of each 25 minute workout doing stupid aerobics, that hardly raise your heart rate, and don't make you sweat.The thigh work is fairly good. The buns are worked once and way too fast.This videois not good for sculpting your abs at all, they do that way too fast, and last thing.Overally, this video is not for sculpting your abs,or buns. if you want a good lower body video, try Jane Fonda's Lower Body Solution, stay away from this one.

This 40 minute workout is led by Tamilee Webb, who has led most of the "Steel" workouts.This one is super advanced for buns and lower body.Half of the routine is done standing and the other half on the floor.Equipment that is used in this workout are a step or box, light dumbells (1-5lb) and a mat if you do not have carpet.Of course if you do not have a step you can still do the moves without it.

Or, should I say, "at lust," as here is a Tamilee Webb BUNS OF STEEL video that lets you see Tamilee Webb's rear end.She only shows her thong-revealing buttocks for a couple of seconds, though.Odd, when you think about it, as what is the point of promoting a buns exercise tape without showing the instructor from the rear?Check out Tamilee Webb's ABS OF STEEL videos and the camera is all over her stomach, after all.

Her instruction may be very good but this was filmed in the early 1990's. I ordered this video under the impression it was filmed within the past few years (release date: 2002). However, the packaging of the video box was simply updated.I also didn't realize that I would need a step or bench to complete the workout. Just know what you are ordering!

Since starting the Karen Voight tapes, (This in combination with Lean Legs and Buns) I have lost a total of 20 pounds.Not only have I gone from a size 10-12 to a 4-6, my body is in excellent condition.My body does'nt feel skinny, but toned and strengthened.I dont ususally write reviews, but felt I had to for this one.The workouts start easy and intensify, making it easy to start and increase with your stamina.Good job Karen.

This is a very good toning video which specifically targets the arms and abs.It begins with what the box calls a "preworkout drill," which is basically a few minutes of instruction on how to keep your lower back grounded on the floor while performing the abs exercises; once you know how to do this, you can skip over this section.Read more

I did this video for the first time yesterday...and alls I can say is ouch!This video is approximately an hour long, and well worth the buy.What I really like about it is that it takes the best "buns" clips from all different videos and pieces them together.It keeps it interesting and exciting.One person in their review had said that he sometimes only works one side, and then they cut to another clip.This happens only 2 or 3 times, and is not really a big deal.I just rewound to the beginning of that exercise, and did it on the opposite site.This video REALLY hones in on that butt, but also has alot of work for the hamstrings, quads, and inner and outer thighs.That whole area of my body is nice and sore! =)As for Billy, he is wonderfully motivational as usual, and I find myself working harder when hes looking at me, and answering back when he asks questions.I count outloud, and even scream like Shelly when it gets hard.This video is a good time and I would DEFINATELY 100% reccomend it!

This workout emphasizes on reshaping your lower body with a variety of exercises, but there is some upper body and ab work as well. You will need a tall box, assorted dumbells and a dowel or broom handle is used for the stretch. Three instructors lead you through this workout, Jennifer Carmen, Taber Bruner and Jennifer Peluso. This workout is part of the Firms Tri-Trainer series, which includes Maximum Body Shaping and Fat Blaster.

I really enjoy this video. It has 3 instructors and begins with a tough abdominal section. I really like the length....only 45 minutes but a tough 45 minutes! You'll feel this the next day after you start. Also, you will need a 12-14" fanny lifter for this tape.

Im gonna stand up for this tape. Yeah it may to be that hard (I just increase the poundage to make it more difficult) but it is so much fun.Taber and Jen are excellent instructors and their cuing is right on.Jen Peluso is another story, her form and cuing isnt that great. There is an abs segment at the beginning instead of the end so if that turns you off then forget about this tape.There is some wannabe pilates in this tape as well so if your a pilates buff you might not like the firms take on it. I personally dont care about pilates and there isnt that much to bother me personally.All in all i love this tape. I reach for this tape more that any other firm tape.The jazzy music is so relaxing and this workout just flows together nicely. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This is good for "Firm" beginners
This video is too easy for seasoned FIRM users. However, if you are just starting exercising, and want to see what the FIRM is like, you got the right tape! Just have 3,5,and 8 pound weights and a broomstick, and you can do this just fine. Then, when this becomes easy, go to the first three '80's FIRM tapes to kick your fanny into shape! Last, go to the newer FIRM tapes/DVD's (circa 90's-2000's) with the more complicated footwork to really get toned.

I am overweight and just started exercising a few months ago. I started off with Leslie Sansone walking videos, and now I have been combining those with some Tae-Bo, and this Firm Basics tape.

I could not believe how well this video works on the abs! I felt the burn immediately, and noticed that I was holding myself with better posture after the first workout. After having done the video only a few times, I can tell a difference already.

I like Tamilee and Tracy but Donna gets very patronizing and has some overly complicated combinations.The tape is only about 20 minutes aerobics, 20 minutes of squats, and 10 minutes of cool down/warm up, which isn't bad but I would like more aerobics.This is an okay intermediate tape, but the squats do their job pretty well.

This workout is one of the best I have ever used.Three instructors alternate with their different styles through a step routine during the first half.The second half is spent using the step to do squats and lunges working every muscle that allows us to walk.The music used by the instructors is perfect for the workout.I have owned all the Buns of Steel 2000 videos and while they are all great, this one gives the best workout.

This step video consists of a 25-minute step routine (includes a warmup and very short cool down) and a 25-minute toning routine for legs and buns.Tamilee Webb, Donna Richardson, and Tracy York all take over the instructor roles throughout the video which I like.It brings a nice change of pace to the workout.The step portion is similar to the routine in the Buns-of-Steel 7 video, but is a little more challenging (in terms of applying power moves) and not as repetitious as the instructors change.I was able to do the step routine the first time I popped the video in, so it is not very complicated.It is also fairly short, but you will make up for it in the next segment: toning.Read more
