4-0 out of 5 stars Dragonball Z Beginnings
Ok, ok, ok. Now, honestly, I don't think this saga is half bad! It has some great stories that are totally original and awesome! I especially like Goku traveling on Snake Way! Even though the voices are terrible and they edit all of the good stuff, this saga gets ragged on a lot more than it should. This set includes the 3 or 4 episode turned special of Radits, Goku traveling to Snake Way, Goku training with King Kai, and the Fights that break out between the Saiyans and the Z Gang. Even if you are a beginner and choose the Vegeta Saga over this, I would at least reccomend to give this a whirl.

4-0 out of 5 stars FIRST SAGA OKAY
THIS WAS PIONEER'S MASTERPIECE I THOUGHT IT WAS OKAY AND NAMEK SAGA IS EVEN BETTER BUY IT IS AWSOME!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Too long...
I watched most of the series and the last episode back then... some of the fight scenes are too long, and plain boring. But don't get me wrong, quite hilarious and I laughed all the way through especially when Gohan engaged in a fight scene with Frieza.Gohan and Goku are super saiyans and they have this special power...Man... this is something!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Namek Is The Greatest
The Namek Saga is the greatest of all sagas. Unfortunatly you cannot buy this saga anywhere hardly. I think that it should be sold on every store that sells anime. Amazon sells alot of DBZ yet their collection lacks the Namek Saga. If you ask me i think they should order a bunch from somewhere because i think it would sell.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Namek Saga is a BUST!
Unlike the Saiyan Conflict, I don't like this saga. Its 28 episodes of fluff. Just waiting around for Goku. This saga I do reccomend to pick up the new pioneer version.

1-0 out of 5 stars buy the books, burn the dvd
Isn't there a rating below 1 star?
1-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing
With Terry Pratchett's great writing and Cosgrove Hall doing the animation I figured this had to be a winner, but sadly this is not the same stop-frame-puppet-animation Cosgrove Hall brilliance that brought us 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin' or 'The Reluctant Dragon'.This is their second-rate cartoon team who brought us the highly overrated Dangermouse.Wyrd Sisters exhibits the sort of mediocre paint-by-numbers animation that Hanna-Barbera was infamous for.In my opinion Discworld could have been well-served by Cosgrove Hall if only they had done it properly. This cartoon treatment is disappointing to say the least.I advise everyone to just read the book instead - your own imagination will conjure up better images than this DVD does.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's true what they say......."The book was so much better!"
I was really hoping for something great here. When I learned they had made movies of Terry Pratchett's fantastic works, WYRD SISTERS and SOUL MUSIC, I was so excited. When I found out they were animated, I was thrilled beyond belief. I adore animation! There is so much you can do these days with animation. So much that the producers of this film did'nt bother to do! The movie is nice and long, which is about the only nice thing I can say about it. The most recognizable of the vocal talent is that of Jane Horracks(Absolutely Fabulous and Little Voice). The animation is cheaply done. Many of the jokes and Terry's fantastic sattire that us fans have come to love are lost on those who have'nt read the books prior to seeing the movie. I am giving this movie 3 stars because of my loyalty to DiscWorld and because of the relative obscurity of the film. It is sort of difficult to find new or used and in Region 1 and I feel necessary for any animanition fan's personal collection. I will purchase SOUL MUSIC eventually with greater hopes for the future. For anyone special reading this...I would love to see the Luggage animated! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Girls Enjoyed the trip to Iscandar Too!
I think I was 11 or 12 when this series was on the old UHF channels.Every day after school I would watch the journey of the Argo to Iscandar.I loved it!!I had no idea they did a second and third series.Where was I? Oh, yeah, Luke and Laura ran away together! That's where I was.But I'm so glad the series is on VHS.Now I can relive a time when weekday afternoons were about visiting other worlds and not making deadlines!

4-0 out of 5 stars My anime fandom started here
'Star Blazers' was my first experience with the medium of serialized Japanese anime. I made every effort to never miss an episode when the show aired every weekday afternoon after school. I was surprised by the show'slevel of complexity and maturity, things that were sorely lacking incartoon shows of that era. I was amazed at how the show featured thehorrors of war- death, suffering, pain- subjects that American animation atthe time was too afraid to broach in a direct manner. And even though'Robotech' would eventually supplant 'Star Blazers' as my favorite animeseries, it was the latter show that was my first love. It was also one ofthe few 'toons that I missed when the local station quit airingit.5-0 out of 5 stars A Childhood Remembered
I remember rushing home from school to watch this when it was on a UHF station and cable was for the rich.School got out at 2:50 and Starblazers was on at 3:00.I never missed an episode. Now I can relive those days and share them with my kids. These shows are a great story of man'sundying need to survive.I'm so glad to see them again. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Grendizer
I haven't seen this box set, but I have been fortunate enough to see the complete show of Grendizer. So, I'm not commenting on this box set, but I'm providing information only on the UFO Robot Grendizer, which was created by Go Nagai the creator of Mazinger.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best of 70's Old School
While Robotech, Starblazers, Speed Racer and Kimba are all great old school anime, many have forgotten that the 70's was the sprouting decade for mecha anime. Now, the best of anime from the 70's is now chroincallized in this four tape set. Originally airing as a week block of animation called Force Five, these tapes are mega old school.5-0 out of 5 stars BEST ANIME BOX SET EVER!!!
Well, something close to it, at least. It really is worth your money. First, you get two episodes each of Gaiking and Grandizer. The storylines, dubbing, and editing are stinky, sure, but that only added to my viewing enjoyment. They're giant robots, for Christ's sake. They can't be cool AND intelligent. As for the two episodes of Starvengers, they're okay, but only really watchable thanks to the bad fake British accents of the voice actors. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Much exciting action...but then again...so sad.
This may be by far one of the best sagas ever, trunks is kool, he defeated freiza, the trunk saga is a very sad one as well, the death of gohan in trunk's world affected him so deeply, and the other ones, where kool, but then again said and unfortanate, although I still reccomend any dbz(dragon ball z) fan SHOULD buy it.Because it is truly worth it!I reccomend it!:)!

5-0 out of 5 stars Starting my series
Okay let me start off by saying my bro got me into this series.I've seen the series off and on on cable and then saw some "uncut" versions.I gotta say the uncut was definately better. One of the tapes is the 'history of Trunks' it is a mini-movie of how life is on Earth during his timeline the only surviving sayian, besides himself ,is Gohan (his master/best friend). Together they try to defeat a pair of androids that are running around destroying things and in this version ,shows how Trunks turns Super-Sayian for the first time.(Gohan dies by the way).Which ultimately led up to him time-traveling to change things.I strongly suggest you watch this first, it gives more "oh so that's why!" to the rest of the tapes. 5-0 out of 5 stars I guess I need to write more reveiws...
so I'm gonna start.Firstly, I can't tell from what info is given EXACTLY what this is, but I'm guessing it's the Trunks Saga and the History of Trunks movie if it's 4 tapes.I've seen the movie, and all the Trunks Saga episodes, so I can say, they are GOOD!The movie is supurb, with an exillant sound track. The episodes are great too (the between-saga sagas are always good^^). I hope I'm guessing right, but even if I'm wrong, If it's got Trunks in it, it has to be good. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful nostalgia
Gundam animation series has been around for more than decades. I was a huge fan of it when I was growing up. Fortunately, I was able to hear about this newer series of Gundam recently and decided to try it. I loved it. Itwas very entertaining itself but also it brought all the nostalgia of mychildhood. However, this series is for mature audiences since it containesa heaviely political and dramatic story line. It is quite hard to believethat these visually beautiful animation was actually produced about adecade ago. I believe this animation series containes the serious andoriginal atmosphere of the Gundam series not like those new series such asgundam wings. Regardless of the fact that you know about Gundam or not, youwill be highly entertained.

I first encountered gundam almost 13 years ago at a book store where they had, sitting in the sci fi section all 3 of the original novels that gundamis based off of, translated for the first time into english from theirnative japanese. That was the start for me. 3 years later saw into mypossesion a grimyu 4th generation copy of all 6 episodes of 0080 and all 13of 0083. I am very pleased to finally see the domestic US release of one ofthe most sought after anime titles.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best series out there
This is definitley one of the best animes out there. It is a true original, and offers up just about everything: comedy, romance, drama, martial-arts action, cooking action (lol), and yes, comedy. It is truly hilarious and packed to the brim with intriguing characters.5-0 out of 5 stars Humor Romance Action.... uh DuhGREAT
As others have said this 2nd series wonderful just as the first series was. Tons of comedic moments, romantic intertwines, little suspense and lots of action. Great Ranma lovers and anime fans. I do want to make a point clear though. Anyone interested in getting this material for a young viewer like 10 or so be warned that there are some sexual references made here and a few moments of nudity. Not pornographic but enough to question the age limit for the viewer. I'd say at the least 13 years for a young viewer.

5-0 out of 5 stars The greatest anime series ever!
Romance, comedy, action; this anime has everything you could possibly want. The series features great music and great animation. The voice actors are terrific, whether in English or Japanese. Buy this now, because oncethe word gets out about Ranma 1/2, it will go FAST! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best animated Science-Fiction series gets better.
There was hardly a boy that did not watch Star Blazers in the early 1980s.It was almost like the Spiderman series of the 90s or the X-MEN series of today.Though the graphics are not as good as todays, it was definately the predecessor of the excellent anime of today.I feel it has much better characters, ethics, morality and overall story line than anything since on a global scale. It is a much more realistic and believable show(except for the very end where Treliana takes-out Prince Zordan's ship). I was a really big fan.I even had a few of the cards and comic books they made based on the show.My brother and I would rush home to do our homework as fast as possible in order to watch the 3:00PM show.We were so jealous when a friend of ours actually owned the dye-cast metal model of the Argo.We were both searching and trying to get a hold of the series for years.I almost got them in the early 90s while at a comics convention at the Expo Center. No go.Finally I started to search for the Star Blazers online.Enter Amazon.com.There are other sites where you can order the Star Blazers but Amazon.com was quite a bit cheapier than the others I found.Once again, The Star Balzers are off to protect the world they love and cherish but not before having to break a few rules. After receiving a mysterious message from Treliana of Telezart, Deputy Commander Derek Wildstar and do-it-all genius Sandor are convinced that the approaching comet is much more than what it seems. The Earth Defense Leaders do not agree with Wildstar or Sandor. So they send word to all the ex-Star Force members to join them on a voluntary basis aboard the Argo for another long and dangerous mission.Everyone shows up, including the great yet reluctant pilot, Mark Venture.First they have to commondere (steal) the Argo by blasting it out of its underwater dock and then they fire the main guns to blow-up and get by one the satellites that make-up part of the Earth Defense. If that's not enough, they are being chased by the new bigger and better star-class ship, the Andromeda with orders to stop the Star Force at all costs. In true Star Blazer fashion the Andromeda, despite exceptional evasive manuvering by the Argo, catches-up to the Argo for a showdown.Once in firing range the Andromeda's Captain Gideon lets the Star Force go and wishes them luck on their mission. This is were the defeated Gamilons interplay. The Gamilons have hooked-up with the Comit Empire after their leader, Deslok, was rescued while floating in space by the Empire and restored to health.Deslok makes a pact with the leader of the Comit Empire, Prince Zordan, that he will destroy the Star Force for the Empire. The Star Blazers do not know it but they are headed for a trap set by the Gamilons, who await their little visit to Treliana's home planet of Telezart. While coming up on the planet Barracus, after defeating several space carriers, the Star Force picks-up the Space Marines who are very rough and tough group who literally run and attack space tanks. The Comet Empire continually underestimates the Star Force. The Argo goes on to defeat fleet after fleets of the Comet Empire and Gamilon Forces and beat their traps while on the way to Telezart. The Space Marines check the planet for any signs of the enemy. The surface of the planet is made-up of seens of a once thriving civilization completly destroyed. They get attacked by Comet Empire space tanks, which with the help of Wildstar and the Black tigers are quickly taken out.Once down on Telezart Derek Wildstar, Mark Venture, Sandor and the medical technition Nova finally meet Treliana. She tells the Star Force that the Comet is really the Comet Empire, a huge ship made to look like a massive comet that conquers other planets who submit to them and destroy those who do not.The comet is headed for Treliana's planet next and there is nothing she can do.It turns out that Treliana has incredible psyic powers and that the destrution to her planet was caused by her powers, which she refuses to ever use again because of what happened to her planet.Once they leave Treliana the Comet destroys her planet but not without sustaining considerable damage making the Comet Empire slow down and alter course for the first time ever. She did this after Mark Convinced her to.The final battle with Deslok takes place, probably the creshendo of the Comit Empire series. The Argo is so badly damaged that it can not use its wavemotion gun or most of its main guns.Just as Deslok was about to fire upon the Argo with his mighty Deslok gun, Sandor tells Wildstar to go to warp.Though slightly hesitant, Mark warps the Argo right into the hull of Deslok's flagship. To arms!Wildstar orders to board Deslok's ship.In order to protect Nova during the firefight, Mark gets shot and floats off the ship and into space. The Andromeda and the rest of the Earth's defense forces are completly wiped-out.Captain Gideon sends one last message to Wildstar, "attack the Comet Empire from below".With the help of Deslok the Star Force attacks the Comet Empire from below and entered the fighter ship hanger and blow-up the Comet Empire ship from within via a fantastic firefight by The Space Marines, Wildstar and Sandor.Even though the Comet Empire ship blows up another ship emerges from the smoke, destroying the Argo's guns and firing on the Earth. Treliana Brings Mark's body onto the abandoned Argo with Derek and Nova who were about to ram the Comet Empire.Treliana ends the conflict by using her powers to destroy Prince Zordans ship.I left so much out.You have to watch this series again! Or for the first time. This is a great one for kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Standard By Which to Judge
Like the other reviewers, I looked forward to this show each day after school.Hooked on sci-fi by Star Trek and Star Wars, this show took myappreciation of the genre to new heights. The best thing about thiscartoon was that it evolved as time went on.Starting out with a primitivelook and simple characters, the show's look and feel developed a depth fewsmall screen attempts at sci-fi have equalled.A LOT of thought went intothe design of the technology and the backplot for this show.Don't let thenaysayers convince you that it's just a cartoon.Anyone who's seriousabout their sci-fi should own these videotapes.

5-0 out of 5 stars I now remember why I rushed home from school
Every weekday at 3:30, the local channel ran this show.I remember the ship with the large hole in the front that could do some nasty damage to anyone in its path.I also remember falling in love with the sci fi genrabecause of this show. Now I get the video of the second series which gotcut off when I was a kid. This set is what I had dreamed of having when akid. The entirety of each series in a collection as opposed to seperatevideo tapes with two episodes each. Each of the collection tapes have fourepisodes or more each.As I watched I remembered how well developed thecharacters were, which is quite a bit for a cartoon, in fact I forgot I waswatching a cartoon, this is probably due to the increadible story of thissaga.I highly recomend this for anyone that grew up with this cartoon. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Really cute movie
It was so cute and funny! And even though I'm 14 I still really liked it. I realized that Linolly and Pretz have the same voices as Sasami and Tenchi from the Tenchi Muyo series. I thought that Linolly had Sasami's voice the first time I heard her talk which is probably because Sasami is my second favorite character from Tenchi, (Washu being my first) then later on in the movie I thought "HEY! That's Tenchi!" And I loked at the end credits and sure enough, Sherry Lynn and the guy who plays Tenchi. (Sorry, I forgot his name.) It was just so cute, so if your like me and you like cute stuff I highly recommend getting it. I loved it! The end theme is pretty cool too. Well, hope this helped. Bye.

4-0 out of 5 stars Get the Facts Straight
Sorry kiddies...those of you introduced to the FF series beginning with FFVII are uninformed. CG has obviously been a fairly recent addition to video games and therefore was not available for most of the 11 FF game titles. I have read that The Legend of the Crystals was based upon FFV, a game that wasn't released in the US until a couple years ago in the FF Anthology. This game was made way before CG and before Cloud.5-0 out of 5 stars The best movie ever
This is so good. It is cool but weird. The best part is the blinking ... scene. The weird thing is the ghost of a boy dead for 200 years is thrown in. If your looking in the anime section of hollywood and can't decide what to rent, rent this one. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Oh, you'll be glad you got this!
I am a big Transformers geek. I only had a few episodes on tape, so you can imagine how excited I was to finally see many of these episodes again! Why, then, have I given this a mere 4 stars instead of 5?
4-0 out of 5 stars Good show, bad quality control
I used to love this show as a kid and, not that I have kids of my own, I has to buy this set. Overall, it's still a good show. The poor quality control (transformers colored wrong, wrong voices, transforming in reverse, etc) can get a little tedious at times, as can the bumpers (why were these not removed?). Still, if you were a Transformers fan, and are willing to part with a decend chunk of money, I'd recommend getting this.

3-0 out of 5 stars A must have for any fan. Disappointing quality for being "remastered"
Anyone reading this is a fan. And if you're a fan, this is a must have, as others who grew up with the Transformers, have repeatedly said. I'm grateful that this DVD box set was made available and admit that I STILL watch the epsisodes on boring nights when I want to unwind and feel like a kid again. The writing was excellent and made for a superior cartoon.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not horrible, but not great
I was excited to watch this series when I first heard about it, following the rave reviews it had recieved from fellow gamers, but I was let down upon actually watching it. The plot was jumpy and unconvincing, and the characters ended up seeming like hollow puppets, shoved and pushed in every direction so the "real story" could be uncovered for the viewer, while the whole specifically did not revolve around anything particularly significant or interesting to those same characters. To put it more simply, it lacked the human interest, partiuclarly with the characters, that makes for a good story.
1-0 out of 5 stars My First Anime Let Down
After being tied down to the chair and subjected to "Slayers" I became a heads over heels anime fan.I'd heard a great deal about "Records of Lodoss War" which was supposed to be a completely serious form of "Slayers."I eagerly anticipated viewing the series, yet when I finally got my hands on it I found I was in for a major let down.5-0 out of 5 stars It is a have to see ova
If you like a mixture of drama, magic, adventure and everything else you can think this fantasy anime ova has all that. knights dragons and what not. i loved it this ova is difently good. If you havn't seen it you should. Record of Lodoss War is differnt. people in other reviews say that its a copy from other fantsy movies and books but my opinion is that it is orrignal and one that you can't just put one vidio in and watch it and walk away you have to see it all. hope this is helpful this ova is great! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected
This first part of the TV series runs like standard RPG fare. These 13 episodes span several adventures as the entourage solves problems in various kingdoms. You'll be amazed at the moral lessons the show offers, despite the frequency of jokes.(the fantasy feel and tangled love interests are reminiscent of El-Hazard) Maze, a lovely woman by day and a lecherous man by night, caught my attention since the idea of male-female dual personalities inhabiting the same body makes for some interesting situations(i.e. I also liked Birdy the Mighty).I love the female Maze--she's a gentle selfless person who's at odds with her violent selfish counterpart. She is also being hit on by just about everybody, which makes you both pity her and admire at how she maintains her dignity.I like her voice-actress, who played Leaf in the Lodoss War TV series.Male Maze is also performed well--despite being vulgar, he still maintains respect for everybody.Maybe because it's the TV series, not the OVA which goes all out with nudity and sex.Princess Mill, Maze's ward, is both cute and annoying--she has this certain trademark style which makes her memorable ("ukyo?"). The opening and ending theme songs have stupid lyrics, but are good music. The bio-armor robots and the battle sequences, though not engaging, have a unique design.All-in-all, Maze is enjoyable, but whether or not you can switch genders, I recommend being male when viewing this show.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Saga
This is a great Saga. It starts with where the Majin Buu Saga left off. This time, however, Buu is changing and he will continue to do this throughout the saga. Many different warriors will fuse together and the entire action is truly intense. It has a lot more fight scenes than the Majin Buu Saga (not saying that less fight scenes made that saga bad, it's just a fact) and it is really fun to watch.Read more
