pretty nice

Best of the BRUCEPLOITATION movies
I saw this movie first time round back in 1983 and it was the first and best bruce lee imatation movie.As I come from the United Kingdom the version I saw came under the title THE TIGER STRIKES AGAIN(a.k.a. THE LAST STRIKE),and when it was re-released seven years later it was heavily cut (i.e. the nunchacku scenes,due to the stupid censorship laws in the uk,which are now more lenient,we were forbidden to see this amazing weapon in action.) so I decided buy it from amazon and boy was I glad I did so.It is really a simple plot involving freindship,love,betrayal,rape,murder and revenge but if you look beyond the awful dubbing and not so brilliant acting then you really can be pulled into it mainly because of of it's top notch martial arts coreography,which has to be li's finest hour.Okay I know he's no bruce Lee,and there will never be another Bruce Lee,but when it comes to seeing other imatations like Bruce Le,Dragon Lee,Bronson Lee and Bruce Liang he outshines them all and was a good martial arts performer in his own right.If your a hardcore kung fu fan and looking for a good leealike movie then your search has ended because this is the best of the BRUCEPLOITATION movies ever.You wont be disapointed.

Motown '70's gangsta scene
Probably never gonna be a famous "must see" type movie, but a whale of an entertaining piece this is! We rarely get to see the Motor City in the distinction as the prime locale for a major film, but this proves to be a notable and entertaining exception.No real Hollywood high profile stars here: Alex Rocco, Vonetta McGee and Hari Rhodes are the headliners closest to that category.Nonetheless, it is a fast paced tour-de-force of Police corruption and Black Power machinations in an era of nascent political upheaval. Add to that a cleverly conceived and executed heist scene and you have the makings of a very absorbing melodrama.
Racism, Muder, Politics, Detroit Style.
This crime drama/mystery is set in a post-riot Detroit, and touches on many issues that Motown has yet to resolve.
BORING!!!!

Black Cobra will not disappoint!!!
This movie is awesome!I got it at the drug store down the road for 4.99!(An awesome deal)I liked it so much I decided to Google it and ended up here.If you like really cool "B" Italian action movies, likable good guys, and "hardcore" bad guys than Black Cobra is a must own.The story is great! Detective Malone (Fred Williamson) must protect a female fashion photographer from the ruthless Black Cobra biker gang and their indestructible leader Snake (Karl Landgren), after she sees them kill her neighbor. This results in a lot of cool action including various show downs with the Malone and the Cobras in different settings.Add cool poppy 80's music, "Dad this is the A-HA!!"and a cool funny ladies man side kick for Malone, and you get a one really enjoyable action movie.The climaxes are great too, especially when Malone and his buddy have to rescue the chief's daughter from the Cobras in the abandoned parking lot.Oh and the closing theme song is rrrrrreally cool.Happy Happy Italian 80's pop rock!"Take me to Ameeeerica!"I give this the highest rating I possible can!

Nina Mae McKinney overacts in this film!
This was a independent film production as you can see and you will see when you watch the film the filming isn't really good and its not glorius black and white like in Hollywood, but that was the disadvantage of of independent films, they wasn't as good as Hollywood, but you can still understand the story. They showed these and made these movies around the Chitlin Circuit where they made black films, and showed these black films around in Europe or around different black cities, but these black films still exist, but a lot of them are lost. This is an all black cast with a white male as a love interest. Nina Mae McKinney stars in this film and her acting is always great you can see a little bit of Chick(the starring role she played in the classic black musical Hallelujah.) in her in this film. Nina Mae deserve better then this, but as you can see she carries the movie, and she kind of overacts in this film, she's too good for this picture, they should of gotten a unknown. But its worth a watch if your a Nina Mae McKinney fan. ... Read more

Blaxploitation meets Sci-Fi
This movie is the pinnacle of Blaxploitation films.The lead character is a black man who is wrongfully imprisoned and then cruelly experimented on in jail.When he gets out, he has a unique Pinnochio-esque talent. But, it's not his nose that grows...think lower and longer (ha, ha).I could not stop laughing as he killed his enemies with his "secret weapon".This movie is not meant to be taken serious, but it accomplishes something the other Blaxploitation films of this time did not...a truly unique storyline.

Whuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ?
All the reviewers over here are spot on... This is one film that has to be seen to be believed. Disjointed narrative is an understatement... You get the sense the film was made on the go and when the director realized it was going nowhere came up with a really clever little plot twist... Anton Checkov once wrote a great dramatic rule :If there's a gun in the first act, it is bound to go off in the second. And in this film, if there's a severed member in the first part its bound to... well I hope this isn't a spoiler... grow back and murder people in the second. - - A great idea for Camp sci-fi, but actually the film is mostly standard fair urban action, though a bit sleazer than many of its more famous counterparts....and you have to sit through 90 minutes of classic BAD (yet charming, engaging and funky) blacksploitation until the big scene.... and when it finally happens you're like, "Whuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the ???"A killer p*nis ??? My gosh, what would SHAFT have to say to that ?

I was expecting a new Dolemite movie, really this is a badly subbed Asian film with Rudy Ray Moore thrown in to "watch." LAME.

Very funny but some long slow scenes
This movie is so funny! The ghetto slangs used to dub over the real voices are hilarious! It has an east coast vs. west coast conflict;making a spoof out of the east coast vs. west coast thing w/ rap music. Also one of the character's name is Tu-Pac, and his character is funny as hell! I love this movie, I don't know why some people don't like it. But then again, I also love South Park, which some people find offensive rather than funny. I guess if you love South Park you'll also love this movie.

Pay as little as you can and watch it in installments

Freddie Gibbs is Back ! ! !
This was the infinitely more popular sequal to BLACK CAESAR (American International Films and Blaxploitation's answer to THE GODFATHER.)In truth, BLACK CAESAR is really where the story is at... but HELL UP IN HARLEM is a lot more visually exciting in terms of costumes and action.Basically it takes up where CAESAR ended finding every loose string it could, and using them for HK style movie cut fast paced action and chase scenes.As for the soundtrack... you can get it on CD now(!) CEASAR's soundtrack was by JB - - but I think Edwin Starr actually gave him a good run for his money capturing all that Starsky and Hutch meets SPEED type action...
Pathetic piece of trash...I'd rather see Amos and Andy or Beulah.
I mean this stuff was horrible. The minute the man put the gun up to the little boy's temple, I was out of this picture and I mean way out. That kind of stuff should have been edited out of this pic. And speaking of the editing, this picture was edited to not make sense by having certain scenes that have nothing to do with the premise of the film to sadly become a part of this abysmal movie.On the dvd's special feature as to how the film was made, the director, Mr. Cohen stated that the editor doesn't include this picture on his resume and rightfully so. This picture was a disgrace to filmmaking in general and ought to be shown to NYU film students as to how you should not make a movie.

Hell Up In Harlem w/Fred "The Hammer" Williamson and directed by the one and only, Larry Cohen!If that alone doesn't make you hit the purchase button, then the hell with ya.Harlem continues pretty much immediately after Black Caesar left off.The very last scene in Caesar is changed a bit-he's no longer beaten by a mob-in order to continue the story.Tommy still has the list of corrupt officials, and naturally the corrupt officials still want the thing.Tommy's dad, a minor character in the first film, is now a major player as he goes through a big change from humble old guy to big city crime boss.Tommy's ex is still hanging around, but she's pretty much treated like a doormat the entire time, and Tommy only seems to care once she's already dead.He finds a new spouse though, a religious chick who seems to jump in the sack with Tommy a little too easily(not that much different from real life I suppose).Tommy tries to leave his crime life behind, but do you think that actually works?Once a traitorous schmuck takes over Tommy's old territory, kills his dad and attempts to kill Tommy, well there's hell to pay.Hell Up In Harlem, that is!Tommy goes into Rambo mode in the last half hour of the film.This sequel is more action oriented than Black Caesar.Caesar, like Scarface, was more of a crime drama about how a small time crook makes it big.Harlem is more focused on the butt kickin', and The Hammer has no problem dishing it out.Good times. ... As I recall, this movie is downright awful, and I'm a big FRED WILLIAMSON/Black Action fan...I remember having to force myself to stay awake and to this day can't remember much about the plot beyond "jewel thief"/"hitman"/made in Italy (?) - - there's two reasons to watch it, however...

Warren steals the show
Disco 9000 was a mediocre blaxploitation film. It was definitely not Fass Black's best work.Although, there was only one redeeming aspect to the movie, the acting of former LAPD super-cop Richard Warren. His performance was superb.He added great depth to the character of Vice Cop #1, so much that I really felt that I was on the mean streets of Los Angeles. As a former student of Richard Warren, my opinion may be biased, but I think it's safe to say that this is the best movie that came out of the 70s. This is just another testiment to the bias of the academy, warren definately could be in the running for 1976's best supporting actor.Perhaps a directors cut featuring more footage of this everyday hero would be more approprite.God bless our troops and God bless America

Im gonna get you laughin
Rarely will will you find a movie with this many laughs from beginning to end. The cast is amazing from Issic Hayes to Bernie Casey and the laughs and the sight gags just keep on comming. I compare the humor in this movie to the likes of Airplane and Police squad it,s that funny. Like all super hero movies this has a moral and a message which is even funnier that the plot.I would highly recomend this movie to any one who needs some serious laughs.It,s rared R for a reason mainly the language but that is part of the movies charm. The language does not really offend it just is.

The best way to sum up this film is by saying that this is one of the funniest movies I have seen. This film ranks right up there with Airplane and Blazing Saddles. And by that I mean that after watching this film you will find yourself quoting lines from this film for years to come. I first saw this film over 15 years ago and to this day I still find it hilarious. Even though I have seen it many times and I know all the jokes I still laugh at them. This film is that funny. This is the Wayans Bros. back when they first got started and were at there best. This film is a parody of every blaxploitation film ever made. And it is funny picking out refernces to the different films. Also keep an eye out for cameos from various actors. And always pay attention to things that are happening in the background. 15+ years later and I am still finding things happening in the background that I missed before. So order this film sit back and be prepared to laugh so hard that you cry.

Great Movie but disappointing DVD package
One of the funniest I've ever seen. One of the funniest movies of the 80's. But the DVD quality is horrible. Since its not an anamorphic transfer the quality is grainy. The DVD only has 3 gigs of data so that means the movie was compressed. You would think a greatly written and acted movie would have a commentary and extras features. Not on this!! Watch it for what it is - Blaxploitation
When I brought this movie I wasn't expecting much. I thought maybe a movie that would show me a good plot and a low budget production set but nothing more. However, when I started to watch "Black Sisters Revenge" I saw how fast it moved from when Emma (a country girl and the star of the movie) first came to Compton to live with her aunt's family to how she started to shuffle and jivin' in the "chicken n' biscuit joint"; she went to a house party where of course the movie had to show "brothers and sisters" smoking weed and drinking beer; oh yes, we can't forget the gangs that where at the party to `cause some trouble and have a shoot-out; and last but not least Emma fell in love and went to bed with an idiot junkie(the whole plot for the movie. He is the one she goes to bat for when he is in jail). You would think this all happened over a month or so; nope not this movie. This all happened within a 24hr period!

Brooks III (Soul Vengeance), Malik Carter (Black Belt Jones), and Ernest Williams II, whom some may remember in the pivotal role as `Customer', from the television role "That's My Mama", specifically the episode titled "The Gun"...give me a break, as I had not a lot to work with here...

That word was how i felt after i watched this.A lot was left out as far as the plot was concerned.It was somewhat interesting but i expected more.Overall it just didn't do it for me.But once again, if you are a collector i suggest you purchase it, Otherwise sit back and read a book.

There will never ever be another Shaft in my book, Richard Roundtree is the one and only.I think he could have played the Shaft 2000 titled as (Shaft is Back) the brother is still fine.I'm 35 years old and I rememberall of his movies like it was yesterday.You Go Shaft all your fans stilllove you especially the ladies.

Watch it for what it is - Blaxploitation
When I brought this movie I wasn't expecting much. I thought maybe a movie that would show me a good plot and a low budget production set but nothing more. However, when I started to watch "Black Sisters Revenge" I saw how fast it moved from when Emma (a country girl and the star of the movie) first came to Compton to live with her aunt's family to how she started to shuffle and jivin' in the "chicken n' biscuit joint"; she went to a house party where of course the movie had to show "brothers and sisters" smoking weed and drinking beer; oh yes, we can't forget the gangs that where at the party to `cause some trouble and have a shoot-out; and last but not least Emma fell in love and went to bed with an idiot junkie(the whole plot for the movie. He is the one she goes to bat for when he is in jail). You would think this all happened over a month or so; nope not this movie. This all happened within a 24hr period!

Brooks III (Soul Vengeance), Malik Carter (Black Belt Jones), and Ernest Williams II, whom some may remember in the pivotal role as `Customer', from the television role "That's My Mama", specifically the episode titled "The Gun"...give me a break, as I had not a lot to work with here...
Weird but Fun
