Walter Payton, whose tragic death from liver disease stunned and saddened the sports world, ran to glory in 13 thrill-packed seasons with the Chicago Bears before retiring in 1987, and this video serves as a tribute to his exploits on the field as well as his contributions in charitable endeavors. I have literally watched this video 35 times and I can never seem to get enough. Every time I watch it I come away with more insight about Walter himself. Growing up in Chicago I came to know and appreciate Walter on a local level, but since his death I have come to appreciate him more and more. This is a must see video if you need inspiration or an uplift.

A must have for Goldberg fans
In the ten years that I have been watching professional wrestling, I was always more of a WWE fan. However, there was one guy that made me want to tune into Nitro, and that was Goldberg. Goldberg has been a favorite wrestler of mine ever since he debuted back in September of 1997. He may not be the most technically sound wrestler of all time, but his strength and intensity are unmatched. He was the first wrestler I have ever seen to become so popular soley based on what he did in the ring. He did not have to come out and cut promo after promo like Austin and The Rock. He spoke through violence in the ring. This video gets a 4.5 out 5 rating from me. It was off the charts. This video shows DDP in some of his best matches against savage at Spring Stampede 97 in a no dq match. It shows DDP and savage in las vegas death match at halloween havoc 97. This video shows the triple threat no dq match from uncensored 98. with Chris Benoit, Raven and DDP for the us tittle. This video shows the amazing no dq us tittle match from spring stampede 98 between him and raven. That match destroyed the hole spring stampede set. The bowry of death match between him and raven is shown from slamboree 98 and much much more. I would have gave this movie a perfect 5/5 but they didnt show the lights out match from the great american bash 97. This video is still a defiant buy if you havent seen some of those matches which I have just said.

Summed Up, Who MJ really is
I watched this movie during my first year of doing graduate study. It really moved me. Not only it tells us the story of how Michael achieve his greatness, but also how we can come back to achieve even more great accomplishments.
AMAZING!
Being the MJ fan that I am, I have seen quiet a lot of movies about Jordan, and really I must say that this is one of the best, it has all those moves that just make MJ the great player that he is, I mean the way he moves with the ball, its just amazing, and unlike some other movies, this one doesnt waste long time on people talking, but shows what MJ is all about BASKETBALL.

A solid homage to a trailblazing ballplayer
This film doesn't back even a quarter inch from being a documentary of a great Jewish ballplayer.The opening theme song is "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" in Yiddish.It sets the tone for the whole film in perfect fashion.
An exceptional documentary
I think this is a truly exceptional documentary on many different levels.First, it tells the story of one of the best baseball players in history, who often goes unrecognized for his skills.I consider myself a big baseball fan, especially in the history of baseball and stars of the past.Yet before this movie, I knew very little about Hank Greenberg.Despite being one of the best hitters at that time, Greenberg isn't talked about very often.This DVD gets his story out, and shows how dominant of a ball player he was. Important Ballplayer for many reasons.
Hank Greenberg seemed like a pretty decent fellow and a whale of a ballplayer.Like many, he lost his prime years fighting those jerks in the Pacific.No telling how good his career number would have been if he could have been back in the states poking at the pill.Even with that handicap he still played in three World Series and won 2 MVP awards.This move does a pretty good job of documenting his life, but it seems to define him too much by his religion.Greenberg wasn't even a religious person, but the film continues to go back to the subject.I'm sure that he found discrimination along the way, but when you see the actual footage of him interviewed in 1983, you get the impression that he would be very uncomfortable with his life being told through that lens.He seems too no nonsense for that.It's interesting when he collides with rookie Jackie Robinson in 1947, and offers him encouragement.It's really a poetic moment in baseball history.Read more

Jordan, the early years
If you have any doubt who the greatest basketball player of all time is, watch this video. This film was made nearly 15 years ago and it still wows me. I'm from Chicago so it is a Windy City bias. But it is true he is the best. Before the championships and him beating the Bad Boys, Jordan dazzled fans all over the nation with his 360 dunks, sick layups, incredible game winning shots and his winning attitude is what made up of Jordan before he won his six titles. This video also details his early life with his family, his daily battles on his families Basketball court with his older brother Larry. Him getting cut from his varsity high school team and his eventuall stardom at Laney high school. His successful run at North Carolina, with star teamates, James Worthy and Sam Perkins. Him winning the 1982 NCAA title against Patrick Ewing's Georgetown. Also relives his 1984 Olympic gold medal. Him being drafted third by the Bulls. Being passed over by the Portland TrailBlazers for.... Sam Bowie!!! The video also goes over Micheal's dramtic rise into stardom in 1984-85 where he won Rookie Of The Year. He then breaks his foot in early 1986 and he came all the way back, despite the Bulls front office telling him not to do it.He came back with fire, when in the 1986 playoffs, he scored 63 points against a team with four hall of famers, Bill Walton, Robert Parish, Kevin McHale, and of course, Larry Bird. This video is a gem to own, for any basketball fans, and MJ fans. Also, you can find this video on the Ultimate Jordan DVD collection, which I also own. You will love it.

Decades ago, documentary filmmaker Leon Gast attempted to complete a feature about the 1974 "Rumble in the Jungle" championship bout between boxers Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in Kinshasa, Zaire. Sundry complications, though, held up the project until its release in 1996. It was well worth the delay. From Gast's perspective of modern history, the six weeks Ali and Foreman were forced to spend waiting in Africa for their fight to take place now looks like an important moment in America's cultural understanding of African American roots. In a nutshell, Ali had been stripped of his heavyweight champion title because his opposition to the Vietnam War-era draft had landed him in prison. Reigning champ Foreman agreed to a Don King-promoted match in Kinshasa, but after all parties got there the fight was put off. Gast captures the charismatic Ali, in the ensuing days and weeks, going out among the people and getting to know them while the more reclusive Foreman keeps to his own company. Meanwhile, King brings over black American artists such as James Brown and the Spinners to mix it up with African musicians. The sense of excitement and connection is thrilling, as is the boxing footage of Foreman and Ali finally taking swings at one another in a titanic duel. Writers George Plimpton and Norman Mailer, each of whom was covering the fight as journalists, are on hand to recollect the details. The greatest basketball player of all time gets an appropriate clip reel in this 45-minute documentary, which was originally released in the IMAX format. While you can't simulate IMAX's 80-foot-high screen in your living room, you can still get the thrills and awe-inspiring footage of this tribute to one man's talent and endurance. Much of the original footage was shot during the 1997 NBA Finals between the Chicago Bulls and the Utah Jazz. With great behind-the-scenes footage and terrific game material, the film gets close to Jordan in practice and on the court. And the film includes a number of greatest hits, including his commercials and most memorable dunks. Still, while there are intriguing interviews with everyone from former Bulls coach Phil Jackson to professional Jordan hanger-on Bob Greene, this film seems a little self-serving at times (Jordan's company coproduced it). Also, some key voices from that team are conspicuously absent, including Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and Ron Harper. Extreme skier Shane McConkey is the protagonist of this affably oddball documentary that features some suitably spectacular footage of McConkey casually doing what most skiers can only fantasize about. There are interviews with McConkey, who comes off as the laidback dude one might expect, as well as interviews with his mother and a few friends (one of whom tells a funny story proving that "there's something wrong with McConkey"). And a few comic interludes, including McConkey's attempt to star in a music video, pop up. But the real point to this production is the skiing footage, which is uniformly spectacular. McConkey and others (including Olympic champion Jonny Moseley) go rocketing down absurdly steep mountainsides in footage shot from helicopters, and of course they make it all seem so effortless that you can almost forget how insanely dangerous it is. And speaking of bodily peril, McConkey is also seen flying off ski jumping ramps backwards and gleefully sailing through space. As someone quips, "his radness can't be quantified." Keeping with the athlete-as-outlaw theme, there are also segments on BASE jumping, in which McConkey and others are seen parachuting from bridges, tall buildings, and mountainsides. Some of the film's humor is strained, but this is for the most part an entertaining look at a character who just can't get enough downhill excitement. Read more

IF you like Mike you will like Airtime
Airtime came out after the Bulls second championship, during a time when Jordan was being touted as the greatest player that ever was just preceding the final season before his first retirement. What is captured here is the last of the youthful Jordan who beat you with speed because he didn't have to out think you. This video is only second to Micheal Jordan's playground in capturing the athletic marvel that Air Jordan possessed. Whether you are a basketball -or- Jordan enthusiast or impressed by the things Micheal Jordan could and did do on the court, I recommend this video. The people at NBA Entertainment packaged it so that it is not some romp for enthusiasts only. Quite entertaining. Expect to see Micheal Jackson, as well! Hey, maybe that works for you, eh 8-)

One of the best Michael Jordan videos out there
If you're a Michael Jordan fan, this is definitely one video you can't miss.It covers everything from Jordan's journey to winning his firstthree championships all the way to when he made his comeback to the game ofbasketball.The best thing about "Above & Beyond" is that italso has everything in between.It tells of all the struggles and triumphshe had after winning his third championship such as when his father diedand the good things that happened while he was playing minor leaguebaseball. Well worth it !
Watched it over 6 times already! It documents his first 3-peat, his father's death followed by his baseball period. Most importantly, it shows what it took for Jordan to regain is prominence in the game again - sheerhard work and practice. Truly a lesson in life for anyone - the video'sworth it.

I absolutely loved this video.I debated keeping our VCR, even though this was the only VHS I have.Absolutely incredible, narrarated like a Wonder Years episode, this video is a must for young kids growing up, and those of us a little older who still appreciate the old days.

I think that the NBA game has changed scince the days of Larry Bird. This video would be great for todays youth to watch because it's educational to a degree. Childeren playing the game now think if they can't fly over the rim or have smooth dribbling skills their game is weak. While watching this tape they could learn that having a great understanding (fundamentals)of the game is what leads to winning. This is one of those rare sports videos that has substance beyond athletic achievement. It is the story of a man with gifted skill and perseverance combined with all-American values; John Elway is more than just one of the all-time great NFL quarterbacks. Yes, the purpose of this video is to highlight Elway's 15-year wait for the Super Bowl championship, which finally came in XXXII after three previous dismal disappointments. But it does an equally fine job in explaining Elway the man--the son, the father, and the husband--as it does the athlete. Former neighbors tell of his ability to throw at age 2. Clips document his high school days in Granada Hills, California. And, of course, we witness his ability to rally the Broncos to late victories with courageous comebacks. But we also get a glimpse of Elway away from football in important moments with his family and having fun with his auto dealership. It brings out the message that Elway understands and accepts his place as a leader and a role model. Not in Black and White
Not sure what the previous review is about. The video is not black and white at all - apart from 5 seconds of still photography.

In black and white throughout and this turned off my nephew from the beginning - "It's for grown-ups."(Although I realized the older sports clips might be in black and white, and had told him so, I was surprised that parts of the video did not change to color - the box was in high color and does not state that the video is B and W.)Overall content is good with a motivational story line and a marvelous collection of the high spots that show the range of Jordan's immense talent.A great item to add to or to start a collection.Just not a good video to grab a child's interest.

Jordan, the early years
If you have any doubt who the greatest basketball player of all time is, watch this video. This film was made nearly 15 years ago and it still wows me. I'm from Chicago so it is a Windy City bias. But it is true he is the best. Before the championships and him beating the Bad Boys, Jordan dazzled fans all over the nation with his 360 dunks, sick layups, incredible game winning shots and his winning attitude is what made up of Jordan before he won his six titles. This video also details his early life with his family, his daily battles on his families Basketball court with his older brother Larry. Him getting cut from his varsity high school team and his eventuall stardom at Laney high school. His successful run at North Carolina, with star teamates, James Worthy and Sam Perkins. Him winning the 1982 NCAA title against Patrick Ewing's Georgetown. Also relives his 1984 Olympic gold medal. Him being drafted third by the Bulls. Being passed over by the Portland TrailBlazers for.... Sam Bowie!!! The video also goes over Micheal's dramtic rise into stardom in 1984-85 where he won Rookie Of The Year. He then breaks his foot in early 1986 and he came all the way back, despite the Bulls front office telling him not to do it.He came back with fire, when in the 1986 playoffs, he scored 63 points against a team with four hall of famers, Bill Walton, Robert Parish, Kevin McHale, and of course, Larry Bird. This video is a gem to own, for any basketball fans, and MJ fans. Also, you can find this video on the Ultimate Jordan DVD collection, which I also own. You will love it.

This is easily the best NBA video around.I wasn't sure at first but when I watched Jordan's gravity defying dunks and shots it blew me away!It has got more spectacular highlights than any other NBA video I have ever seen.It starts off with Jordans childhood on the baseball field,then his brilliant college days,then to the best stuff...his early days in the NBA where he earned lots of awards.Made before he stunned the world by leading the Bulls to a double three-peat,this tape captures the glory days of both slam-dunk contests,his injury and how he came by itto become the best player ever,all his dunks,lay-ups and game winners,his success in the olympics in L.A,and his own commentary on what it was like to be such a star performer.There is also some footage of his greatness at golf aswell.Only one dissapointment,not enough footage of his All-Star games.I ordered this over-seas because Britain dosent sell NBA videos.Also great service from Amazon.Buy this if you are an NBA fan and want to witness the greatest player ever...AIR JORDAN! ...
