Blame Michael Flatley...
... for giving every dance studio and popular dance genre the hope that they too can be the "next Riverdance". The dancers are all talented, if self-consciously hip, and in great shape. But the numbers that focus more on T & A than fancy footowrk really did this show in for me. I love it when risks are taken with conventional dance forms, but ballroom dance is OTT enough ( if you've ever watched a competition) and doesn't need to be tarted up beyond recognition, the way it is here. Add the disjointed lighting and editing effects and what you have is a hot mess.

Outstanding!
The beginning of the routine is rather slow & I'm not really into modern dance.But the costumes, the way the dancers flow together, the music & the dancing make this an outstanding film. I would recommend this very highly to anyone who likes dance/music videos!

Not Enough Instruction
I was hoping this video would give instruction on additional erotic dance moves, but it did not.There's a review of the core moves from the first video and some tips on disrobing, but not enough information on advanced moves.The performances by two featured dancers was good, but it would have been nice to have had the different moves pointed out for beginners in order to help them in putting together a routine. I recommend this tape, but I'd suggest that beginners or ladies who want to see some advanced moves watch "Sinsational Strippers" to see how the pros pull together a strip, pole and lap routine.

Love the second tape even more then the first!
This is a great addition to the first video.I am so glad they made a follow up tape.It is a lot of fun and I learned some new things.I suggest you get this video and the first one!They make great gifts for a friends.I have sent both to friends turning 4o and they loved it!These videos help us all get our groove back or like me, get it in the first place! ... I'm out of appropriate adjectives to describe this!!!
It was just totally increble and I'm so thankful to these men for what they've offered, and I'm also thankful to the god for the bringing these cool men into this world. A Little scary
Ballroom and Latin dance has come a long way.Even though many of the dancers on the DVD are still at the top ranks of the pro circuit, this is NOT a great showcase. This is nice to watch in order to compare to the styles and skill of today, but not the kind of video you will watch over and over.The only truly spectacular dancing is that of Marcus and Karen Hilton (standard only).They were then, and are now quite amazing.For those of us in Canada, Alain Doucet and Anik Jolicouer are on this tape, briefly, in the Standard final.

Still very good at this price
Old? Not quite. Several competitors in the competition are still among world's top ranked professionals. And how many dance better than Burns and Fairweather even today?

Ridicules as social dance overview
This is a group of ballet and show dancers performing their "witty" impression of social dance. I didn't see a single dancer being social with their partner(s). Then again, I could not stand to watch the whole DVD. The production is dated, and those annoying narratives...

Historical, NOT instructional
This video is probably one of the only accounts of the Turn-of-the-Centurydances (done in 1998), but you see them performed fairly quickly, and,blended with other steps, you're not quite sure which is exactly which.This would be for historical purposes only, unless you can figure out thetraditional dances for yourself. It really is very interesting stuff, andI'm grateful to have it on video, but as the decades draw closer to thepresent, the dancing is better seen in Saturday Night Fever and MTV. Read more

Unworthy of a legend.
As a former dancer with NYCB during the Tallchief years, I was eager to view this videotape and revisit the greatness of this magnificent ballerina. Although television is hardly the best medium for dance, I was startled by the terribly confined space allotted to the dancers. Surely that contributed heavily to performances that were little more than the "marking" dancers do in rehearsals when they need to conserve their energy. Always a confident technician and musical performer, Tallchief looked self-conscious, awkward, and unsteady. Perhaps she was uncomfortable dancing for cameras, not an unusual predicament for dancers used to a large stage and broad audience vistas. As her partner in the pas de deux of "Scotch Symphony," Andre Eglevsky, who set virtuoso standards for American male ballet dancers in his prime, had little to do and less room to do it in. "Allegro Brilliante" was most disappointing of all. An inspiring ballet to dance and to watch under normal circumstances, this truncated version gave Tallchief no chance to show off her physical and temperamental brilliance. Hampered by unattractive camera angles, an annoying fabric "set," and no room to move with music that is a joy for the performer, the ballet suffered, as I felt she must have. Great introduction!
This is by far the best introduction to dance dvd I've seen and I have seen quite a few. Chris and his partner really knows how to break down swing and make every move really easy to follow. He goes over hand movement/position as well as body and feet position. If anything negative is to be said about it, I would say this video is too slow 'cus I'm a fast learner. But otherwise, it's great! I would definitely recommend to someone else.

Turn on the music and get out of your chair
You want to jitterbug. The music gets your toes tapping. Everyone that jitterbugs looks like they are having so much fun.
