Summed Up, Who MJ really is
I watched this movie during my first year of doing graduate study. It really moved me. Not only it tells us the story of how Michael achieve his greatness, but also how we can come back to achieve even more great accomplishments.

Being the MJ fan that I am, I have seen quiet a lot of movies about Jordan, and really I must say that this is one of the best, it has all those moves that just make MJ the great player that he is, I mean the way he moves with the ball, its just amazing, and unlike some other movies, this one doesnt waste long time on people talking, but shows what MJ is all about BASKETBALL.

A must-have for boxing fans
I gifted this to my dad, who is a boxing fan.He absolutely loved it. 6 hours of great boxing.I would recommend this to anyone who like boxing or ALI or both.

Priceless
This three-disc documentary about the career of Muhammad Ali is amazing, worth more than 100 miscast biopics put together. It tells the whole story, from his youth to his gold medal to his ascension to the championship to his exile from the sport and right through to the end of his fighting days and his later-life bout with Parkinson's. It works for fans of Ali, obviously, but it also works if you want a general primer on boxing history or even an overview of the social, cultural, and political tumult of the 60's. Love him or hate him, the man is an icon, and this has all the footage and all the interviews with all the people who know and were there. An absolute must-have.

Jordan, the early years
If you have any doubt who the greatest basketball player of all time is, watch this video. This film was made nearly 15 years ago and it still wows me. I'm from Chicago so it is a Windy City bias. But it is true he is the best. Before the championships and him beating the Bad Boys, Jordan dazzled fans all over the nation with his 360 dunks, sick layups, incredible game winning shots and his winning attitude is what made up of Jordan before he won his six titles. This video also details his early life with his family, his daily battles on his families Basketball court with his older brother Larry. Him getting cut from his varsity high school team and his eventuall stardom at Laney high school. His successful run at North Carolina, with star teamates, James Worthy and Sam Perkins. Him winning the 1982 NCAA title against Patrick Ewing's Georgetown. Also relives his 1984 Olympic gold medal. Him being drafted third by the Bulls. Being passed over by the Portland TrailBlazers for.... Sam Bowie!!! The video also goes over Micheal's dramtic rise into stardom in 1984-85 where he won Rookie Of The Year. He then breaks his foot in early 1986 and he came all the way back, despite the Bulls front office telling him not to do it.He came back with fire, when in the 1986 playoffs, he scored 63 points against a team with four hall of famers, Bill Walton, Robert Parish, Kevin McHale, and of course, Larry Bird. This video is a gem to own, for any basketball fans, and MJ fans. Also, you can find this video on the Ultimate Jordan DVD collection, which I also own. You will love it.

Decades ago, documentary filmmaker Leon Gast attempted to complete a feature about the 1974 "Rumble in the Jungle" championship bout between boxers Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in Kinshasa, Zaire. Sundry complications, though, held up the project until its release in 1996. It was well worth the delay. From Gast's perspective of modern history, the six weeks Ali and Foreman were forced to spend waiting in Africa for their fight to take place now looks like an important moment in America's cultural understanding of African American roots. In a nutshell, Ali had been stripped of his heavyweight champion title because his opposition to the Vietnam War-era draft had landed him in prison. Reigning champ Foreman agreed to a Don King-promoted match in Kinshasa, but after all parties got there the fight was put off. Gast captures the charismatic Ali, in the ensuing days and weeks, going out among the people and getting to know them while the more reclusive Foreman keeps to his own company. Meanwhile, King brings over black American artists such as James Brown and the Spinners to mix it up with African musicians. The sense of excitement and connection is thrilling, as is the boxing footage of Foreman and Ali finally taking swings at one another in a titanic duel. Writers George Plimpton and Norman Mailer, each of whom was covering the fight as journalists, are on hand to recollect the details. A LITTLE LESS OF NORMAN MAILER AND MORE OF BB KING WOULD GO A LONG WAY
but the final shot of Mr. Ali standing and restraining himself from throwing one more punch, but letting George fall gracefully flat to the ground is ballet, is pure art, the crowning of his showmanship, after so many rounds of Mr. Ali receiving George's hardest body blows, tiring George out.

The greatest basketball player of all time gets an appropriate clip reel in this 45-minute documentary, which was originally released in the IMAX format. While you can't simulate IMAX's 80-foot-high screen in your living room, you can still get the thrills and awe-inspiring footage of this tribute to one man's talent and endurance. Much of the original footage was shot during the 1997 NBA Finals between the Chicago Bulls and the Utah Jazz. With great behind-the-scenes footage and terrific game material, the film gets close to Jordan in practice and on the court. And the film includes a number of greatest hits, including his commercials and most memorable dunks. Still, while there are intriguing interviews with everyone from former Bulls coach Phil Jackson to professional Jordan hanger-on Bob Greene, this film seems a little self-serving at times (Jordan's company coproduced it). Also, some key voices from that team are conspicuously absent, including Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and Ron Harper. Review On Air Time
This video sends chills through my body when I watch it.It shows Michael at his best and in the prime of his leaping days.This video is a motivation to me, I try to put it on every morning when I wake up.I strongly reccomend this video.

IF you like Mike you will like Airtime
Airtime came out after the Bulls second championship, during a time when Jordan was being touted as the greatest player that ever was just preceding the final season before his first retirement. What is captured here is the last of the youthful Jordan who beat you with speed because he didn't have to out think you. This video is only second to Micheal Jordan's playground in capturing the athletic marvel that Air Jordan possessed. Whether you are a basketball -or- Jordan enthusiast or impressed by the things Micheal Jordan could and did do on the court, I recommend this video. The people at NBA Entertainment packaged it so that it is not some romp for enthusiasts only. Quite entertaining. Expect to see Micheal Jackson, as well! Hey, maybe that works for you, eh 8-)

This is a rare piece of negroe league and black history......
Although this film is too short, that does not deminish it's importance nor its brilliance. This film is clearly the forerunner to the succeeding film, 'THERE WAS ALWAYS SUN SHINNING SOMEPLACE.", because many of the same players were interviewed for both films. I would venture to guess that the budget was too small to allow a longer film to have been made. This film is truly a fine historical document....

A too-short documentary about the Negro Baseball Leagues
"Only the Ball Was White" was the title of the book Robert Peterson published about the history of black baseball and the Negro Leagues, and this 1988 documentary covers the same ground.Narrated by Paul Winfield, this 30-minute documentary uses vintage photographs, historical film footage and interviews with former Negro League ballplayers such as Satchel Paige, Buck Leonard, Roy Campanella, Don Newcombe and Jimmy Crutchfield.My only complaint with this documentary is that it is way too short and only scratches the surface of this fascinating topic.One of the old ballplayers bemoans the fact that young kids do not know about Jackie Robinson; they only know about Willie Mays.Well, true baseball fans know about Rube Foster and Josh Gibson, as well as another dozen great black ballplayers who never got their change to play in the "Major" Leagues.In the context of this documentary, Gibson and Robinson become the key counterparts of the tragedy: while Robinson is honored as the ideal man for the job of breaking the color barrier (Paige candidly admits he never could have endured what Jackie had to go through), Gibson is mythologized as the greatest hitter of all time, dying at the age of 35 the same year Jackie played with the Dodgers.Granted, there is no greater irony to be told in this story, but there is still so much history that is not being told here.There is a nice section where Campy tells about the stuff veterans pulled on him when he was a 15-year old rookie ("Go back and make your bed" and "Fetch me a bucket of steam"), but given there is only 30-minutes of tape this seems an odd choice.Again, my solution is to make the documentary a lot longer (two tapes, easily).Read more

IF YOU'RE A JOE LOUIS FAN, YOU'LL LIKE THIS VIDEO.
This video contains exciting knock-out scenes from many of Joe's memorablefights, and it brings back the thrill of watching the greatest of allheavyweight champions at the peak of his fighting prowess. My onlycriticisms are, it didn't show enough of the fights that it featured, andit should have featured more of Joe's fights. In other words, I wouldgladly have paid twice the price for a video that covered Joe Louis' careerin greater depth. Nevertheless, it is well worth the money, and it belongsin the video library of every Joe Louis fan.

Decent bio, but should have been longer
This is a decent bio of Joe Louis, but it only scratches the surface of profiling the "Brown Bomber's" career.Too many great fights are not even shown, such as the Primo Carnera bout, and the clips that areshown are way too brief.For example, they show about 25 seconds of thefirst round of Louis-Braddock.Yet the producers of the show fail toinclude the moment when Louis is unexpectedly knocked down!This video hassome memorable fight clips and interviews (such as Tony Galento whiningafter his loss to Louis), but it always leaves me wanting to see more. Billy Conn is one of the hosts of this special, and while he was a greatfighter and person, he wasn't a good commentator.Still, for $10 bucks Iguess you can't expect too much.

Michael Jordan's game." This may have been said in a moment of energetic excitement, but the words ring true. As do the more seasoned and professional articulations of former Phoenix Suns coach Paul Westphal, who after losing to Jordan's Chicago Bulls in the world championship, profoundly states what the world already knew: "No one can stop him." One of the best Michael Jordan videos out there
If you're a Michael Jordan fan, this is definitely one video you can't miss.It covers everything from Jordan's journey to winning his firstthree championships all the way to when he made his comeback to the game ofbasketball.The best thing about "Above & Beyond" is that italso has everything in between.It tells of all the struggles and triumphshe had after winning his third championship such as when his father diedand the good things that happened while he was playing minor leaguebaseball. Well worth it !
Watched it over 6 times already! It documents his first 3-peat, his father's death followed by his baseball period. Most importantly, it shows what it took for Jordan to regain is prominence in the game again - sheerhard work and practice. Truly a lesson in life for anyone - the video'sworth it.

In black and white throughout and this turned off my nephew from the beginning - "It's for grown-ups."(Although I realized the older sports clips might be in black and white, and had told him so, I was surprised that parts of the video did not change to color - the box was in high color and does not state that the video is B and W.)Overall content is good with a motivational story line and a marvelous collection of the high spots that show the range of Jordan's immense talent.A great item to add to or to start a collection.Just not a good video to grab a child's interest.

Muhammad Ali was recently named the "Sportsman of the Century" by Sports Illustrated magazine. One Of The Best Shows From One The Best Seasons
The 1991 - 1992 season of "Saturday Night Live" was a watershed year for its strong cast, many of which (Phil Hartman, Mike Myers, Al Franken, Dana Carvey) had already been on the show a good five years by this point.
