5-0 out of 5 stars An new guradian Dende
A New Guardian - With the day of the tournament drawing near, Goku seems oddly relaxed. That is, until the Royal Military foolishly tries to stop Cell with ordinary weapons! The attack quickly becomes a suicide mission, and now Goku is determined to bring them back to life! But that would require... new Dragon Balls?!Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Spell of the unown
My favorite part is,when they made sharp japenese actions and manga. pokemon is one of my favorite manga (japnese comics) show.
5-0 out of 5 stars Tripped Out Delight
It's sad to admit, but as an avid Pokemaniac, I've seen all the Pokemon movies released to the present time, and own the majority of them. With that in mind, I can honestly state that this is the finest cinematic piece associated with the Pokemon name, and remains one of my favorite animated films.
5-0 out of 5 stars Nine Pokemon movies, and this one is still my fave
Although the Japanese version of Mewtwo strikes back gives it a run for its movie, Spell of the Unown really is the best of the Pokemon movies in my opinion. It was the last theatrically released PokeMovie that people actually saw in theaters (4 and 5 were hard to track down, even if you lived near tons of cimemas), it wasn't used as a giant advertising board for pop stars like the first movie, and it wasn't edited as badly as the first two.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not comparable to Fight Club
I just want to mention that although this movie is extremely good it is compared to Fight Club far too much.Everyone says it's the Japanese Fight Club, but the only similarity is that there happens to be some fighting in both movies. You might as well compare the next Van Damme movie to Fight Club. But if you are a fan of Japanese films you won't be disappointed. It might not be as wicked as The Iron Man or Visitor Q, but it's still really good.

4-0 out of 5 stars Make sure you know who the creator is!
Thinking this was "just" a Japanese movie, I found Tokyo Fist anything but. Its raw unsubtle imagery -- not to mention over-the-top boxing "makeup", made me quite happy that I was watching this on an empty stomach. Yet, despite the human imagery of violence and spiraling downward, the sterility and facelessness of Tokyo itself is quite powerful -- more frightening, since it's the only part of the movie that doesn't seem impossible. The film is primarily shot in alienating, washed out blues, with red the primary visual for contrasting, jarring, color scenes. Sensibility and plot take a firm back seat to evocation and statement. It's kinetic, low-budget, and relentless, yet not at all preachy or pretentious.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's not "Tetsuo", but good on its own merits
Truthfully, I'm not sure what the other reviews are complaining about: "Tokyo Fist" is arguably more coherent than "Tetsuo", although it's hardly a finely tuned plot.Nor are the goings-on more extreme than in "Tetsuo."The tattoos and piercings are not "ritual"; in fact, they're pretty direct self-mutilation and alteration.I really don't understand why this is slapped with "Warning: Adult Content" labels, because frankly, the American cinema has seen much worse.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the Series
I think all the Lone Wolf & Cub movies are great, but this is definitely the best one in my book. All the films in the series managed to combine a strong period feel, and a sort of delicate and solemn beauty with the outrageous and brilliant action scenes, but this one really manages to bring out the former without losing touch with the latter. To put it bluntly, this is one of the very best action movies I've ever seen, Asian or otherwise.
5-0 out of 5 stars no where to rent this tape!
No where to find or rent this tape so I bought this tapes for its worthwhile coz i'm studying swordsmanship right now. but of course so differ from at home watching them duel. really easy to say than to do.they probably did so many takes to perfected the film.

4-0 out of 5 stars Restore Order....Kill Everyone!
This is the 5th Entry in the Series of Lone Wolf & Cub, and this one starts off with 5 emmissaries testing our hero, former Shogun Executioner, Ogami Itto.Of course 5 emmissaries testing Ogami, means 5 duels, 5 sliced up and dead emmissaries, 500 pieces of gold and the 5 bits of information Itto needs to do the job.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars SO sad....
The best ep on this DVD has to be "Charizards burning ambition", Its my total fave because of its so heart braking to see Ash say goodbye to his only dragon pokemon. Pokemon can always make you cry, and this ep proves it. If i could only get one pokemon dvd this would be it. "For crying outloud" Is mostly just for comedy relief. Its about when the gang meets a marill who is quite a crybaby. You shouldn't expect much since this ep features Misty. In "Tanks alot" Togepi finds its way into Team Rockets latest invention, the "Arbo tank". Along with a baby sentret. Its up to Ash and co to get both of them out safely. With a little help from a fellow sentret of course. Those two eps are not the best but the Charizard ep really makes it worth buying!

Editorial Review

High school entrance exams are approaching, and Serena and her friends Amy, Raye, Lita, and Mina (Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako in Japanese) need to study--especially Serena, whose grades have never been good. But Serena is easily distracted. When Haruka appears on the scene, she and the other Scouts immediately fall for him--only to discover "he" is a girl who often dresses as a boy. Haruka is almost always seen with Michiru, but there's nothing to the relationship. Serena is also busy leading the Sailor Scouts into the battle. These powerful, aloof warriors are searching the world for three mysterious and potent talismans. The combined power of Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Moon produces the redoubtable weapon, the "Spiral Heart Moon Rod." Many fans rank the Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not the same Sailor Moon I knew

5-0 out of 5 stars Moon Cosmic Power Makeup
Okay let me just tell you this.......this dvd rocks. It is the ultimate intro to the Sailor Moon S world. You meet the freaky Proffessor Tomoe and the equally messed up Kaori Knight not to mention their servents. You also meet Michiru/Michelle Kaioh-an elegent violinest and Haruka/Amara Tenoh-a skilled racer. However The witches 5,Hotaru,or Chibi-Usa do not appear YET!Anyways this video is really cool it got me inpsired to like the S series again and to also RENT more S videos/dvds.Before I sign off though don't let me renting the video make you think it is not good enough to buy......It DEFINETLY is.....DEFINETLY!!!!
4-0 out of 5 stars The Beginning of 'S'
This is the edited first volume of the third season, S. This season was dubbed by a different company, so many of the voices from the first two seasons have been replaced. Serena's new voice is the only one that is tough to deal with. The actress tries too hard to imitate the previous voice, but she does improve a great deal as the episodes go on. Luckily, Lita & Raye's voice actors return, making the transition easier. Many people will complain about the edited version, but aside from one or two examples, you're not really missing anything.

5-0 out of 5 stars What's next?I finally know!
In Dragon Ball Z- Cell Games: Surrender, the crucial action picks up as Goku spars against Cell in the Cell Games. This video ended on a high note as *spoiler* Goku makes the shocking announcement that he wouldn't fight Cell anymore. This video first hit the shelves in November 2001, and many of us have been as apprehensive as Goku's fellow Z Fighters about what would happen next.Who else would be mighty enough to take on the godlike android?Goku knew, and wasn't worried at all!4-0 out of 5 stars The Cell Games Continue
This vhs contains 3 episodes:4-0 out of 5 stars Preatty good!
This video tape is one of the best dragonballz episodes ever.It shows at the beggining how goku and cell power up(which is really awsome)and then they start to fight.Cell uses some of the Z fighter's attacks and then goku shows a new attack.........the instant transmission technique! In the middle goku puts a lot of energy into the kamehameha but he is at such a height that if he fires it at cell who is below it will destry the whole earth!!Goku uses the instant transmission technique and appears in front of cell and fires the kamehameha.Everyone thinks that he is dead but he regenarates himself and starts to attack goku.Since goku put so much energy into the kamehameha he was not able to defeat cell and so he lost. Then it ends with goku giving up.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not horrible, but not great
I was excited to watch this series when I first heard about it, following the rave reviews it had recieved from fellow gamers, but I was let down upon actually watching it. The plot was jumpy and unconvincing, and the characters ended up seeming like hollow puppets, shoved and pushed in every direction so the "real story" could be uncovered for the viewer, while the whole specifically did not revolve around anything particularly significant or interesting to those same characters. To put it more simply, it lacked the human interest, partiuclarly with the characters, that makes for a good story.
1-0 out of 5 stars My First Anime Let Down
After being tied down to the chair and subjected to "Slayers" I became a heads over heels anime fan.I'd heard a great deal about "Records of Lodoss War" which was supposed to be a completely serious form of "Slayers."I eagerly anticipated viewing the series, yet when I finally got my hands on it I found I was in for a major let down.5-0 out of 5 stars It is a have to see ova
If you like a mixture of drama, magic, adventure and everything else you can think this fantasy anime ova has all that. knights dragons and what not. i loved it this ova is difently good. If you havn't seen it you should. Record of Lodoss War is differnt. people in other reviews say that its a copy from other fantsy movies and books but my opinion is that it is orrignal and one that you can't just put one vidio in and watch it and walk away you have to see it all. hope this is helpful this ova is great! ... Cell vs. Mr. Satan and his 2 cohorts is priceless. Its probably5-0 out of 5 stars One of the funniest moments in DBZ
This video is perfect for the humor sde of DBZ.The Z-warriors get to Cell's ring to fight him, but Mr. Satan gets there first. He wants to prove to the entire world that Cell's nothing but a huge fake. The man has much influence on the public.Even the reporter, who in charge of bringing the Cell games to the public, gets so confident from Mr. Satan, he make a gesture, using a certain finger, at Cell (this is un-cut, remember). After brushing off two of Mr. Satan's students, the "champ" gets in the ring in on of the most funniest moments in DBZ.This is a must have for aby DBZ fan. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Cute Boys and Apple Pie!
I first borrowed this tape from one of my friends in 7th grade.I had heard so much about it and Clamps works so I knew It would be okay. But I was wrong! It was one of the best I've seen! The story follows three 5th grade detevtives who help the school they're in.They face real mysteries in this volume as well as one that has to do with apple pie!It is one of the cutest things I've ever seen and I would reccomend it to evryone who enjoys anime of any sort!

3-0 out of 5 stars Diabetics Beware! This is one sugary series!
Like all CLAMP animes, the animation is top-notch.However, the series falls flat story-wise and it's hard to get into the story-line.It is arefreshingly sweet series (downright adorable in some places) and worthseeing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Clamp School Detectives?
Though made by Clamp, Magic Knight Rayearth and X/1999 fame, it does not follow the depressing lines as most of their stories turn. This is an upbeat story about three boys who have decided to become the detectives oftheir school and solve mysteries.Though I find it hard to believe that athird grader, fourth grader, and fifth grader (no matter what country)could carry on such adult conversations and solve some of these mysteries(not to mention fight adults and win), it's a cute show and gives a restfrom the every day doldrum of Super Heroes and Mecha. If you just want acute show created by Clamp, this is something that may just be for you. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Goku.VS.Vegeta
This was by far the best fight of that season but it's not all that good, it's kinda short and slow but the highlight of the fight is when Goku uses his Kamehameha wave against Vegeta's GatlitGun. That event was just incredible!! but that is probably the only thing your buying the Video for. I recommend you to buy the more recent fight between Goku and Vegeta, it is a lot better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Vegeta vs Goku
The best episodes of the first season of Dragonball Z. The main thing I like about this video is that it wasn't predictable. Unlike Goku's fight with Nappa Goku had a greater chance to be defeated in this fight and he did get defeated. He may have done well the first round, but when Vegetatransformed Goku was pretty much out matched. A classic so buy this foryour collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars One part of the best.

Editorial Review

Isao Takahata's powerful antiwar film has been praised by critics wherever it has been screened around the world. When their mother is killed in the firebombing of Tokyo near the end of World War II, teenage Seita and his little sister Setsuko are left on their own: their father is away, serving in the Imperial Navy. The two children initially stay with an aunt, but she has little affection for them and resents the time and money they require. The two children set up housekeeping in a cave by a stream, but their meager resources are quickly exhausted, and Seita is reduced to stealing to feed his sister. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I'm sorry, but this is an emotionally cloying melodrama
This is a good movie, not a great one.
5-0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Story
This is one of those rare works that doesn't go for simple, heavy handed storytelling. It's a tragedy that unfolds at a realistic pace, with characters trying desperately to be human in the face of a world that has lost its sympathy and sanity.
5-0 out of 5 stars A powerful film, particularly appropriate for generations lucky enough to never have experienced war first hand.
Besides what all, including myself, write about the powerful message and meaning of this film, it should also be made clear that this is a great film--period.Not just a great anime, or a great work of "Asian cinema" or Japanese cinema. This is a film which anyone who loves fine movie-making will be glad to not have missed and is worthy of anyone's very elite collection if they have one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Frieza's true power revealed.
This is a terrifically piece of anime as you find out how powerful Frieza really is. All of the characters fighting have grown enourmously since the Namek saga, you get a real feel for how tremendous the difference is in their fighting power whereone can dominate when the other can't even land a hit, constantly switching the leadership. Now Piccolo's strength is surpassed by Vegeta, who is given the power he thinks is of a super saiyan by the reluctant Krillin and Dende, who hurt and heal him, releasing a Saiyan's true power. But even then he's not even able to touch Frieza, who undergoes his final transformation. This video is critical to any collection of the Frieza saga, it creates the feel for just how everyone stands powerwise for the final battle - Goku vs Frieza!

5-0 out of 5 stars Frieza wastes no time
After Piccolo arrives on Namek, he fuses with the near-dead Nail and joins the others. Things get worse as Frieza transforms into his most ugliest but very cool form yet (as seen on the cover). After taking a beating from Piccolo, Vegeta and Gohan, Frieza brings out the big guns by transforming to his final form. Because Vegeta is now more powerful thanks to Dende, Frieza fire his first shot at Dende and kills him. This tape serves up to the final battle against Frieza and also sends the message that play time is over. Frieza is at his limit. An overall good volume. I'd recommend seeing this uncut because there is a lot of violent moments on this tape you must see to beleive.

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the First I Ever Saw, and Still One of the Best
As I look at my collection of anime, I now realize, with the purchase of Demon City Shinjuku, I've complete my own personal set of anime, and that is the first ones I ever saw. But Demon City Shinjuku was different because it was the first truly uncut anime I had ever seen and I think the second of any anime, cut or no, after Akira. So therefore it still has a special place for me, and watching it now, almost a decade later, I still remember all those amazing moments that happen in this horror anime. And I still wonder why in the world would the main character use a wooden sword to battle demons and sorcerers... (It's symbolic, I now realize, sort of Tolkien-esque.)
