5-0 out of 5 stars Magical
A beautifully realized excursion into a magical world. My attention never wavered as I was struck by one completely unfamiliar concept or scene after another. Often fantasy works leave me a bit cold with the Shakespearean posturing and ambiguous dangers that any variety of spells can be used to bail out of but, this matter-of-fact tale of wonder needs no pretensions and achieves majesty quite easily.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mysterious, full of spirits
This is my third experience with Ghibli studios and I am not disappointed. I am actually starting to develope a taste for their animation. The drawing and coloring was again as great as I expected. The movie starts in a very mysterious setting leaving you a little scared what would come next. As movie passes on you start to see new kinds of spirits. Not many of them are bad, they are just seeking a resting place away from materialistic world. The movie is in general not meant to be about scary ghosts or vengeful spirits. It is actually about coexistence of men and spirits and how they try to reach a balance. In cases spirits help men or vice versa. Myazaki explains in the special features how this animation is based on his real life experience and it seems that he actually modeled the little girl after a friends daughter whom he knew.

5-0 out of 5 stars IT'S ABOUT TIME FOR A REMAKE!
I truly beleve the disney verion is better than the fox verion.
5-0 out of 5 stars Enchanment for any age.
How wonderful it is to be able to experience what is surely a cherished family classic for a generation of people from another country. This version of "My Neighbor Totoro" features excellent video quality as well as a very well done English audio track for those who wish to avoid reading subtitles.
1-0 out of 5 stars New Voice and Sound Tracks!
I was very displeased with the newest version of Totoro. With Dakota and Elle Fannings voices, as well as all the other new voices, made the movie sound horrible and very unlike the original version of Totoro! The newest version could never be compared to the original version! The original version of Totoro should have never been fixed and it will ALWAYS be better than the newest version! I couldn't even get through the first disc, without hearing the new annoying voice sound tracts! VERY DISSAPOINTING! What a waste of money... ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Thanks to a greedy Pokémon collector, Earth's weather patterns are askew and its population doomed unless Pokémon trainer Ash can return three glass balls to their proper place in this second Pokémon feature. Unlike the television show, the movie features little violence and no Pokémon battles in the classic sense. Instead, the focus is an environmental one: what happens when humans interfere with the harmony of Earth's elements--in this case fire, ice, and lightning. Even Team Rocket have a (temporary, to be sure) change of heart, joining Ash and Misty in their effort to free the three imprisoned birdlike Pokémon who regulate those elements. The good intentions of this 76-minute film, however, don't make it any less dull for grownups (even though this feature is better than the first). Even more mind-numbing than the feature is the lead-in short, "Pikachu's Rescue Adventure," in which Pikachu and Pokémon friends follow Team Rocket's feline down a hole into a Munchkinland-type place. Without the humans for dialogue, viewers must endure a full 20 minutes of nothing but the squawks and squeaks of pocket monsters. As the movie's title song says, "We all live in a Pokémon world." 5-0 out of 5 stars I loved this movie!
I remember seeing this movie in theatres when I was around 7, and I really loved it!! Needless to say, this was my favorite movie out of the pokemon saga, especially since we see some my favorite character, Articuno. I was watching this yesterday, and let me tell you, when youre older, the movie has a whole new depth, I was crying at the ending. This movie is more entertaining then the first one (not to say the first one was bad, I loved it) I highly reccomend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the Movies
This is the best of the Pokemon movies that I have seen. I actually won tickets to and attended the premiere in Los Angeles for this film and sat next to one of the creators of the film (a treat in its own right). While the plot line may be simple (boy must save world), the little details and the inter-connectedness of the Pokemon and the world speak to humanity and its often overlooked connection to the Earth. If anything just give the movie a chance. The score is actually really good (still have the promo cd I got at the premiere). Just enjoy some good anime :).

Ash Ketchum continues to work toward his goal of becoming a champion Pokémon trainer as he challenges a trio of synchronized swimmers in "Cerulean City"; A.J., a stern trainer, in "League"; and the conceited champion of a posh prep school in "Hard Knocks." Assisted by Misty and his friend Brock, Ash also overcomes the inept villains of Team Rocket and learns lessons about modesty, honesty, and sportsmanship.Although Ash initially feels that A.J. drives his Pokémon too hard in "League," he discovers how deeply he cares for them when Team Rocket tries to kidnap Sandshrew, his favorite. In "Hard Knocks," Ash defends a smaller boy from bullying upper classmen, and shows the snobbish students that training Pokémon isn't an academic exercise, but a way of life based on friendship and mutual affection.Viewers not caught up in the Pokémon craze may find the idea of fighting high-tech duels with these cute little animals incongruous. But millions of kids in America and Japan embraced it, and they've given the Pokémon a higher profile than such earlier product-characters as My Little Pony, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and Herself the Elf. 4-0 out of 5 stars I don't like Pokemon as much anymore but...
I used to absoulutely love pokemon when I was eight(no not when it was a fad,I actually hated it then). On my ninth birthday,I had a fun sleepover with my friends and we watched this. It was neat, and the episode the vidio got its name from is my second favorite episode. I recomend this one over JigglyPuff Pop,witch is pretty boring. I wish I still liked pokemon that much...

4-0 out of 5 stars Still good.
Yep, our "hero" Ash finally reaches Cerulean City, where he'll fight the local master for his badge. And this time, he's all alone. Misty left for no reason, and Brock had some "stuff" *cough* to do. Turns out the local master is 3 girls named Rose, Lily and Violet. And another shock. They're Misty's sisters. Gary has already been here and won a badge, and the pokemon are all exhausted, so they decided to just give Ash the badge. Misty doesn't want any of that, though, and challenges Ash herself. After a while, the battle is interrupted by Jessie and James, who have come to steal all the pokemon in the gym. Pikachu stops them by jumping into their soaked machine and shocking it till it explodes. And, since Ash wuld've easily won if he had used Pikachu, Misty's sisters give him the badge. Misty doesn't really agree, though.5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite episodes!

Pokémon, the little high-tech toys, and the Nintendo game involving them, emerged as a pop-culture phenomenon in 1998: the TV show aired six times a week, a theatrical feature was released in 1999, and Pokémon Web sites popped up all over the Internet. These episodes of the TV series center on Ash Ketchum, an adolescent boy who aspires to become a champion Pokémon trainer. He sets out for his first tournament, accompanied by his sometimes friend, a girl named Misty, and his special pet Pokémon, Pikachu. Along the way, he defeats another boy, Samurai, in a duel and makes a valuable new friend when he challenges Brock, the local champion, while learning lessons about friendship, perseverance, and honorable play. On Moon Mountain, he discovers a fallen meteor with magical powers over the excessively cute Clefaries.Jessie and James, the Team Rocket, attempt to steal the Moon Stone, but are defeated by Ash, Misty, and Brock in a slapstick battle.Adults may have trouble keeping track of the different Pokémon without the help of a child, but the "Full-Length Pokérap" at the end of the disc lists them, an obvious attempt to stimulate the urge to collect all 150 (plus one rare collector's Pokémon coveted by fans). Japanimation goes girl crazy in this pastel-propelled seriesabout a lovesick middle-schooler, Serena, whose alter ego, Sailor Moon, aims to triumph over evil in the name of true love. Volume Twocomprises three Eros-charged episodes from the third season of theshow. First up is "Swept Off Her Feet," wherein a doe-eyed study buddyunwittingly falls for a villain intent on robbing her of her pure-heartcrystal. Next comes "Blinded by Love's Light," in which the shaggy- haired Melvin, who sports a couple of psychedelic curlicues for eyes, enters a True Affection contest only to be hoodwinked into having hispure heart harvested by the heart snatchers. For a finale, "LitaBorrows Trouble" finds the evil heart snatcher Scar zeroing on thetitle character's much-coveted crystal. Constants in this series, otherthan the shrill-voiced Miss Moon, are hotshot high schoolers Amara andMichelle, a couple of best friends who, considering Amara's croppedhaircut amid a sea of swirling ponytails, seem more like a couple.Together, they're heart-stealing schemers, but of a different order. For them, the goal is culling three crystals--that way, we discover wayinto the "Lita" episode, peace will prevail in their heart-shapeduniverse. 2-0 out of 5 stars Wicked What ?
I am a huge fan of Ninja Scroll and Fist and I have been waiting a good minute to see this movie. The Animation is GREAT but there is NOT enough action and way too much POINTLESS nudity, and I totally LOVE nudity. Ninja Scroll's nudity was always followed up by scenes of intense-fast action and much gore. This nudity is just there, there is no follow up. There are a few mediocre action scenes but that's about it. It's still cool to watch but I'm still dissappointed that I bought it. The animation is awesome to watch I just wish it was faster with more action. That's all folks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Kawajiri is the man!!
Yoshiaki Kawajiri is one of the best Japanese animators of all time, and this is his best work.People say this pales in comparison to Ninja Scroll, I don't think so, I think this is better (NS is still awesome though).Don't listen to the one-star reviewers, they're probably some fat gothic vampire chicks who call themselves "otakus," masturbate to InuYasha, listen to nu-metal, and think any anime that wasn't released after 1999 is "stupid" or "retarted."

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!
Being a die-hard bionicle fan, when I found this, I watched it several times. I thought it was excellent. Sure, a few details were off and such, but, overall, it's very good.
2-0 out of 5 stars Not what I had In Mind...........
Let's get one thing straight. I loved bionicle legos and when i first heard of this movie, i was hyped up to buy it. but when i saw it, i was really disappointed. let's see how this movie is:
3-0 out of 5 stars aimed more towards diehard bionicle fans
I liked this movie but I think it could be very confusing to watchers who havent become immersed in the bionicle universe throught toys, comics or chapter books. Im not saying it is impossible to watch without knowledge of bionicle but none of the characters, places or even humor is introduced to us. Yes there is a one minute intro to the birth of the island setting but by the time of this film thats ancient history. I used to read the comics and when the film was first released I really understood but when I watched it a few days ago I had to think about some one of the most obvious inside jokes. However I have been talking too much about what is confusing ill talk about what is understandable. It is the story of an epic quest to find a seventh toa(toas are the guardians of the island) and that is pretty much it in a nutshell. I dont want to give away the ending but lets just say it will suprise you. And on another note some may say this film is a bit kiddy but me myself being 12 find that its not too immature for me (especially not for some nerdier kids I know). So if you're into bionicle get it if you have a quick mind that can take a lot of information get it if you like a big adventure film like lord of the rings get it and if you like 3d animation get it(in this film the computer animation is top notch. Otherwise dont get the film its not all that great. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The History of a DBZ Favorite
Like Bardock: The Father of Goku, The History of Trunks attempts to give a glimpse to the past of one of DBZ's characters, that being Future Trunks. Also like Bardock this isn't exactly a movie release but a special that originally aired on Japanese TV, yet it has all of the same similarities as the movies, that being it's relative shortness and its self-contained adventure.
5-0 out of 5 stars Trunks life
In Trunks time Goku died when he was just a baby right before the androids started to take over the city. During the war the other Z warriors gang did thir best to stop the androids but they all died every one except Gohan who growed up and help Trunks when he was a kid to become a super saiyan. When Gohan was fighting the androids he lost one arm but that didn't stop him from fighting and training his little partner. Sooner or later Gohan eventually died by the androids so Trunks only has his self now. While all this was going on Bulma (Trunks mother) was tring to design a time machine for Trunks to go in, it's so he can warn his friends in the past that the future will bedangerous.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exciting, fun, and very emotional.
The second DBZ TV special shows Trunks' past, what led up to his first appearance, and how screwed up his life is.The story, which is based on a short story that appeared in the DBZ manga right before Goku vs. Cell, takes said story and deepens it, big time.I kid you not, the main death scene in this(I'm not spoiling it, but most people probably know who I'm talking about) is quite depressing, and the scene at the end when the androids torture Trunks and chase him around the area really gets to you, as his fear, pain, angst, and anguish wind up becoming the viewer's.The music and voice acting(both Takeshi Kusao and Eric Vale do great as Trunks in their respective versions) are both good, and despite the fact that the TV film is only about an hour long, it will still haunt you quite a bit even after it ends.Definitely a must have for a DBZ fan. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Haunter's Showdown
On this video there is an episode called Haunter vs Kadabra. I think it's cool because every time Ash goes to battle Sabrina Haunter runs away. Also in the video there's an episode called Primeape goes Banannas. In thatepisode Ash's hat gets stolen. I think it's pretty weird.I hope you likeit. In the final episode, the Tower of Terror there are 3 ghost Pokemon. It's pretty awesome.I hope all of you watch it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This video is awesome! I really like the part where Primeape steals Ash's hat, but for those of you who have not seen it I'll just leave it at that . This videois great and I really reccomend that you buy it ! Note: Theonly reason that I gave it 4 stars is because I'm not that much of aPrimeape fan , if it were'nt for that I would have given it five !

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the earlier shows, too much slapstick.
This pokemon show seemed to stress comedy rather than the serious theme of the earlier shows.Relying on slapstick throughout with little effort given to further character development of story telling. We will still buythe next shows, but this does not bid well for the upcoming movie. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Classic That Still Warms My Heart
What an amazing animated feature film. I am 18 years old and having not long ago finished performing in 'The Wizard of Oz' Stage Play, and Reading & Watching the latest Broadway Musical WICKED (The "Prequel" and Untold Story of the Witches of Oz), I suddenly thought of looking for this video. My Sister and I used to watch this video OVER and OVER when we were both younger, but somewhere along the line this video was lost. I found it on Amazon.com out of pure chance! When it arrived a couple of days later I was so EXCITED. I put it straight in and remained glued for the entire duration. I was amazed at how much of the Story, The Sound Effects, Action and Music I could remember! Nearly all of it. What a brilliant film. I am also reading the Original Book by Baum at the moment and this feature remains more close to the Original Story than the 1939 Judy Garland Version.
4-0 out of 5 stars There's no place like Oz, Anime-style!
Not to be confused with the 1939 classic with Judy Garland, this Anime adaptation of L. Frank Baum's masterpiece, THE WIZARD OF OZ was made in 1982 by Toho and directed by Fumihiko Takayama.Interesting fact:in Japan, it runs at 60 minutes, while in the U.S. it clocks in around 79!It also follows the first book more closely than the 1939 classic did; e.g. when the Wizard appears before the individual companions, he's in a different form (a disembodied head, an angelic woman, a rhino/triceratops creature, and a blazing inferno) and the Witch sends her wolves and crows BEFORE her flying monkeys capture Dorothy and her comrades, etc.
5-0 out of 5 stars Everything can be solved with wisdom, love and courage
I haven't seen this movie for a long time since I got it from the Wherehouse. My little brother and I have watched it and we both loved it. The songs are really great. You'll have them repeating over and over in your head. My favorite one is It's the Wizard of a Day. Also, I liked the messages that each of the forms of the Wizard gave to Dorothy's friends. They're really true. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Heroes Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu continue their adventures. In"Attack of the Prehistoric Pokémon," there's a gold-rush-style fever to discover Pokémon fossils in Grampa Canyon, butthe heroes--as well as the dreaded Team Rocket--find themselves trapped in a cave where the prehistoric Pokémon, including Charizard, areanything but fossils: they're alive and angry! When Pikachu loses his voice in "A Chansey Operation," Ash, Misty, and Brockrush him to the closest hospital, which is designated for humans only. The doctor is initially reluctant totreat Pikachu, but by the end of the episode, he's engaged the good gang to help out in a rush of Pokémonemergencies. Finally, "Holy Matrimony!" reveals James of Team Rocket's background--he's really wealthy and hisparents are desperate to find him. It won't matter much that Brit James has parents with heavily put-onLouisiana-toned accents, especially when it turns out they're tricking him into marrying. (Ages 5 and older) Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Charizard rules!
Charizard is my favorite Pokemon! I also love dinosaurs, so Aerodactyl agaisn't Charizard is one cool battle! The other 2 episodes aren't bad either. (Charizard impression) Roar!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dinosaurs, Doctors, and Psychotic Fiances
This is definitely one of the best Pokemon videos! It starts with "Attack of the Prehistoric Pokemon". Ash and his fellow twerps end up in Grandpa Canyon, just in time for the "Great Fossil Rush". Ash and Team Rocket end up underground with an angry Aerodactyl! It's up to Jigglypuff to save the day! Next is "A Chansey Operation". Doctor Proctor saves Pikachu from choking to death on an apple, but then has to help and entire truckload of Pokemon. After some light flirting, the Doc convinces Jessie to help him, along with the twerps. Finally, there's "Holy Matrimony!" We find out the truth about James's past! His crazy finace, Jessiebelle (who looks like eveyone's favorite Rocket Girl), tries to hold him hostage, but Growlie, his pet Growlithe comes to the rescue! Then, Jessie and James leave in thier balloon, provoking one of the most Rocketshippy moments in Pokemon history! This tape is the best!

5-0 out of 5 stars Holy Matrimony!

3-0 out of 5 stars The wedding of Lisa Hayes and Rick Hunter-an anime "event"
This animated feature (75 minutes) spun off from the "Robotech" series is actually four strung-together partially completed episodes from a proposed continuation of "Robotech" designed as a U.S.-Japanese co-production. It's too bad it never got off the ground, because we get a tantalizing glimpse here of what could have been a superior animated sci-fi cartoon series, filled with action, suspense, science fiction themes, and a group of compelling characters whose dramatic interactions would keep the audience engaged from beginning to end.
3-0 out of 5 stars It's Just like the Original Robotech Series But Different
An acction filled tale about the origin of the SDF-1. You will join Rick Hunter, Lisa Hayes, and all the old crew on their quest to confront the Robotech masters but along the way there will be many exiting and thrilling surprises such as the introduction of the Invid and their robot hordes known as the Organics. If you are a fan of the original Robotech becauses of the mecha you will be exited to know that the SDF-3 is eqiped with a whole new line of Robotech weaponry that will make your mouth water. Such as the Logans and the formidable Cyclones, there is even two upgradeds of the original Veritech known as the Alpha and Beta. They can Combine together to make a nearly invivcible mecha combo. All together Robotech II: The Sentinals will keep even the most loyal original Robotech fan on the edge of their seat.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Epic Saga of Robotech
This book is well written just like the animation. It is unfortunate that the animation does not continue on to part two.Having read this book, I felt that the author gets you into the robotech theme. It is next bext thing to the animation series. However, I wouldn't recommend reading this book not unless you have read or see the Part 1 series. This book is read written but is not for the small reader. However, this book is just written in a way that its brings back the good old memories of the animation series. All I can say is that read the series on this book and pick up the animation series of part 1 and you will never go back to watching Saturday morning cartoon. Pokémon Master-in-training Ash Ketchum experiences further ups and downs, with Misty teasing him and the practical Brock advising him."Mystery at the Lighthouse" recalls Ray Bradbury's short story "The Fog Horn." The single, forlorn specimen of a huge seagoing Pokémon comes to a lonely lighthouse seeking companionship, but the villains of Team Rocket drive off the unique creature before "Pokémon scholar" Bill can study it.Moving on to Vermilion City, Ash wins a Thunder Badge in a match against the local champion, whose no-holds-barred tactics have sent more than a dozen Pokémon to the hospital. Ash and Pikachu prove that speed, agility, and friendship can overcome brute strength. At their evil boss's bidding, Team Rocket lures a crowd of Trainers onto the Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Shocking
Before Pokemon Advanced this was my favorite episode. It takes place when Ash and friends (Misty and Brock) finally reach a city. Misty wants to go to a bubblebath and Brock wants to see a navigator. But Ash zips off to the gym! Finally though his friends convivnce him that the pokemon center would be a better place to crash. Pikachu is all healed, eating an apple, seeming fine, but suddenly a pidgey and ratata are rushed into the emergency room. They had been seriously hurt by the gym leader's amazing pokemon!
5-0 out of 5 stars The perfect combination of Funny and cool!
I've never seen the movie it's self, but I saw it on Kids WB once and really liked it!Although Ash lost to Lt. surge at first later he figured out Lt. Surges Raichu never learned the evasive attacks(Agility and Double team)when it was still a Pikachu so Ash's Pikachu kept Dodging Raichu so Raichu eventually ran out of attacks and Ash's Pikachu quicky knocked it out!!!One of the funniest things about this episode was Team Rocket was constantly cheering Ash's Pikachu on because they knew if it could beat it's evolved form,Raichu it would be worth stealing(not that they ever could steal it)!

4-0 out of 5 stars Another Poke triumph!
The episode "Battle Aboard the St. Anne" has really made me wonder about James ... I think he needs therapy. Then again, he wouldn't be half as funny as he is if he were well-adjusted.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good story with good values.
I really enjoyed this movie, even moreso than the first. This story has great rolemodels for kids and shows the importance of believing in oneself and standing up against evil. Vakama, the main character, is especially interesting because he's just this normal Matoran thrown into a position in which he has to save his homeland. One of the morals of this movie is that there is a hero in all of us. This movie is about doing what's right, even when everyone doesn't support you or think it's possible.
5-0 out of 5 stars Better Than the first
It makes me wonder why they didn't make this the first movie instade of the second. But I should I care it was still Great graphics were better this time. great action in this movie . If you're a Bionicle fan get this DVD. Hopefully the Third movie has a great story line has the First two did.
