Nearly every biblical film is ambitious, creating pictures to go withsome of the most famous and sacred stories in the Western world. DreamWorks' first animated film was the vision of executive producer Jeffrey Katzenberg after his ugly split from Disney, where he had been acknowledged as a key architect in that studio's rebirth (Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Animated Film of All Time!
Without a doubt, "The Prince of Egypt" is my all-time favorite movie. I absolutely love it. I can watch it over and over again, and I don't think I'd ever get tired of it. The animation is superior, the acting is stunning, and the music is powerful.

Very nice movie and could be Biblical although may not be very detailed. I just love some catchphrases:

5-0 out of 5 stars Special place in our hearts for this Veggie!!
We love 'Lyle'.It is such a tenderhearted tale, and I never get tired of seeing this with my children.I love the lessons it teaches. This is one of our favorite all-time Veggie Tales.

5-0 out of 5 stars A show starring Junior? What could be better?
The first part of the show is the Shakespeare play "Omlet".This is another great version of a literary classic. The classic song is "Larry's High Silk Hat", which features classic music. Then is the lost play by Gilbert and Sullivan, "Lyle, the Kindly Viking".It stars Junior Asparagus.I love him! That's part of what makes this story funny. What also makes it funny is the constant presence of Bob and Larry. One of their best yet.

5-0 out of 5 stars A laugh out loud, even for adults
Junior Asparagus is by far my favorite veggie, and he is featured in this cute take on "generosity". Larry the cucumber is also featured with his dry wit and eyebrow-raising jokes. Even my stalwart husband got a laugh out of this cute DVD. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This Video is Great!
My 3 year old loves this video.5-0 out of 5 stars Great entertainment and moral values for kids any age!
I can't say enough good things about this video and the rest of the Veggietales videos. I have 5 children, ages 15-2 years, and they all like Veggietales...even though my oldest will not admit it. My 2-year-old is very busy and doesn't sit still for anything....except Veggietales. No matter how many times I play the video, he acts like it's the first time seeing it....it never gets old! Not only are these cartoons wonderfully written and animated, they teach everything from sharing, caring, honesty, bravery, obedience, respect, self-respect, responsibity, and most importantly....believing in God, seeking His will in our lives, and realizing His abundant love for all of us. You can't go wrong with these videos, they are the best!

Another winning video from the VeggieTales folk. To teach Larry the Cucumber about self-esteem, Bob the Tomato tells the story, slightly renamed, of David and Goliath. Jr. Asparagus plays the young man who wants to prove himself and will face the towering pickle. These adorable tales, brightly animated and containing bouncy songs, teach Christian-lite values in an entertaining way. Telling a single story (instead of the normal two), this 30-minute video goes on a bit too long, but it does contain the funniest entry in the "Silly Songs with Larry" series: Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to understand Bible stories for elementary age kids
I love the Veggie Tales series, and this title reinforced my opinion. The series simplifies Bible stories for kids ages 3-10, without losing the overall message. This easily answersquestions about who Goliath was, and how in the world a little guy like David managed to slay him.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great telling of David and Goliath.Perfect for toddlers ...
My husband and I were exposed to Veggie Tales with our niece and nephew and we love the series; honestly we did watch them without any kids around. As a parent, I think "Dave and the Giant Pickle" is the best veggie tales I have seen yet for young toddlers like our 3 year old.He can relate to the story and lesson - a big guy vs a little guy, and how god will be there. My son loves this dvd, asks for it every night, and loves acting out the climax scene. This is such a cute version of David and Goliath. We highly recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars With God's Help Little Guys Can Do BIG Things Too!
In this episode we are introduced to the first appearance by Larry the Cucumber's alter ego, LARRY BOY!

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Ignorant
I too grew up watching this film and have recently ordered it for my own family. I am not an ignorant Christian nor do I intend to raise my children as such. It is interesting to me that those who decry intolerance the loudest are often the most offensive people to those around them. I never associated, nor do I now, the evil trolls with Jews. I cannot see the connection. I believe the evil trolls represent all humanity in its fallen state. The Christian children are showing the difference between those who are lost and those who find Jesus--the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Jesus was a Jew and did live in the Jewish culture, but more importantly, Jesus was the God of the Jews. If you're not against Jesus, then how are you for Him? If you don't believe that He is Lord, then you have to believe that He was either a pathalogical liar or insane.

This movie has been a family favorite for many years. My children love singing the songs (and they are all in their 20's).It has a positive message and emphasizes the goodness that comes from living the golden rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."A wonderful message in any religion. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good Biblical Message
Esther, The girl who became queen is a retelling of the story of Esther for children. Like the other veggietales videos it presents difficult biblical topics in a a fun way at a child's level. The story is about a young Hebrew girl who becomes the wife of the King of Persia. Esther is witnessing her people being persecuted.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for parent and baby!!
I absolutely love this video.I saw it first several years ago when it first came out and realized that when I had my son, I would have to purchase a Veggie Tales collection for him.I bought this one and the "Rack, Shack, & Benny" video (which we also love)--my five month old loves these videos!Granted he doesn't understand the morals or plot line, but he loves the sing-song repetition and graphics.I find him laughing at it quite a bit.I love these videos and find that the humor is moreso targeted towards adults, so it makes it an enjoyable 30 minute viewing!I recommend these videos, this one in particular, to everyone, especially those with children.

5-0 out of 5 stars Welcome to VeggieTales!
I think a lot of people knew that this was the first VeggieTales episode, but some are like, "What's the difference?" A lot. I can just imagine the reaction to this first episode when it was aired how many years ago. You meet Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber, the host of this wonderful show. They warmly welcome you and your little one, "Welcome to VeggieTales!" The also announce that they are there to answer YOUR questions. Who has questions? Kids! Well, this letter happens to be be about being scared. So begins the first episode of our favorite show for us and our little ones!

5-0 out of 5 stars My son loves this video!
We have most of the Beginner's Bible series, and this is one of his favorites.I do not believe these videos are intended for toddlers - my son still loves them at six but he really didn't watch them until he was three or four.

1-0 out of 5 stars What were they thinking
Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! This video is so bad it doesn't even get a ratting. The narrartor is dull and boaring. The acting is pathetic and the way the story is told is down right bad. My fiffteen month old who usually loves to sit down and whatch christian video was highly annnoyed. He was so not ammused he began to cry. This is deffinatly not for kids. I don't even reccamend it for preeteens or teenagers. It's long boaring, unentertaining, and lacks good music. I rather stick to talking vegetables and puppets (Veggie Tales and Great Bible Adventuures.

I got this video for my kids, but took it back.I expect a Bible video to be accurate & this one was not.It had Eve being created after the Sabbath instead of on Friday. This is a gross error & there really isn't any excuse for it.If you want your kids to learn the truth, don't let them watch this one! ... I rate this film 5-stars because the animation is spectacular and is an excellent family film to watch, during the Christmas season.
5-0 out of 5 stars Christmas through the eyes of a child
This is a truly unusual cartoon, by today's standards. It is less concerned with what one may get from Christmas than what one may give. It brings home the true meaning of the holiday, yet is still festive and entertaining.

I highly recommend the Miracles of Jesus. It shows true biblical truth! It has amazing art work too!And most importantly the cartoon proclaims Christ as the Son of God our Saviour who shed his blood for the remission of sins.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hear and Obey God
I was not expecting a great deal from this children's video. I was reviewing it for our Christian quarterly publication as objectively as possible and I was very pleasantly surprised. I am not a fan of animated Biblical presentation, but will make an exception here. The Miracles of Jesus was delivered in such a fashion as to draw in young viewers with the contemporary young characters in the lead roles. Young adventurers pass through a portal, taking them back to Biblical times, where they learn to walk, as Jesus walked, by faith in God and trusting Him to lead their way. An outstanding message, delivered in a simple, easy to understand format.

The latest in an animated Christian children's series, this videoteaches kids the importance of standing up to peer pressure through a thinly disguised Bible story. When Bob the Tomato, our host, sees that Larry the Cucumber is trying to fit into what's "cool" by wearing an oven mitt as a hat, he tells Larry that it's important to be true to yourself no matter what the consequences. Bob tells Larry a story about three vegetables, Rag, Shack, and Benny, who are held hostage in a factory and forced to make chocolate bunnies. When the owner, Mr. Nezzar, takes a liking to them, he offers to promote them if they will only worship a giant chocolate bunny.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Veggie Classic
I thoroughly enjoyed this VeggieTales movie and can understand why it is a favorite for some of my Veggie-loving friends. The plot was good, the characters were lovable (except for Nezzer who of course isn't generally liked, though his singing is fun to imitate).I saw the video version, so I'm not aware of this line-changing business but it does seem kind of sad.I liked the story, liked the characters, liked the silly song too (Larry doing folk dance in spanish is pretty laughable).Highly recommended to any VeggieTales fan that hasn't seen it yet, and actually for those who have. It's one that you can rewatch again and again and still enjoy it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Main theme in show: Stand up for what you believe in
This veggie tales episode is a good one to show children in order to teach them to shand up for what they believe in no matter what (even if they feel pressure from their peers). It also shows the importance of obeying their parents even when their parents aren't around.
4-0 out of 5 stars In with the old out with the new.
Rack Shack and Benny brings many fine moments to the Veggie Tale franchise. It boasts the first appearance of Mr. Lundt, Mr. Nezzer, Laura the Carrot and George, the security guard narrator who also narrates the Toy that Saved Christmas. With Dave and the Giant Pickle, which came out the same year, Rack Shack and Benny departed from the previous and current Veggie format of two stories regarding the episodes theme by telling a longer story interspersed with a silly song at intermission. And what a silly song at that: An Argentinean cucumber folk ballad sung in Spanish by Larry, translated in to English by Bob; often at the interpreters expense.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun for grown-ups and kids alike
First, I will mention that I am a Veggie fan. However, this movie is great even if it is your first exposure to the Veggie Tales characters. My brother-in-law watched this when we gave it to my son for his 3rd birthday. I don't know if he had seen any VeggieTales before, but he said, "I had no idea they were SO FUNNY!" My son had already seen the movie (we checked it out from the library), but we all loved it so much, we just had to own it.
5-0 out of 5 stars My son liked it. I loved it!!!!
They did a lot of work on this one. I especially liked the choir of heavenly hosts who met Jonah in the whales belly and sang about a second chance.

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing...Compared to earlier Veggies
I am a huge Veggie Tales fan! I was a fan before I had my own children. I would highly, highly recommend the original Veggie Tales episodes (before 2003)! Unfortunately, with the fall of Big Idea Productions, Veggie Tales just isn't what they used to be.
4-0 out of 5 stars Sweet Veggies:)
This was a sweet, little VT to watch with my kids.I thought the 'Babysitter' tale was cute and taught a valuable lesson.Sweet Petunia was adorable, if not a bit goofy at times. We totally think that Larry just stole the show on this VT!!The 'serf' music was so catchy too!I am glad that this was more Veggie Tale-esque than another recent release. My kids love this one so far, and so it is on constant replay.

5-0 out of 5 stars Innovative and fresh!
This VeggieTales movie is, in my opinion, one of the best yet. It is fresh and innovative in its concept, once again using a Bible story as the basis of the plot. Characters are fun and engaging. Clean, great for families. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a good Veggie Tales movie. God is bigger than the boogie man! He's bigger than Godzilla or the monsters on T.V.!
