3-0 out of 5 stars Some Good and Some Blah
I was so excited when I found this old movie on my shelf.I remember liking it a lot back in the day when I was a kid. This time when I watched it though, I was surprised to see it drag in several places.George goes through the same comic routine of getting caught in the sprocket machine several times, and it takes forever for someone to come up with an idea of staying in the plant after working hours to figure out what's causing all the trouble.
3-0 out of 5 stars Tiffany almost ruins it.
When they made this movie, they recorded the voices with the original cast. Before release they thought that it would help marketing to replace Janet Waldo's voice with Tiffany's. If this were a new creation that would have been fine, but everyone knows what Judy Jetson is supposed to sound like, and it isn't Tiffany. I don't think enough people knew or cared about this to affect ticket sales anyways. Since they did record the whole movie initially with Janet Waldo as Judy, if that recording still exists, when this makes it to DVD it should have an alternate track with the original vocals. It wouldn't be hard to do, but movies like this rarely get much love on DVD. Hanna-barbera has given a lot of love to their series sets though, but since Universal and MCA are mixed up in this one, I'd be surprised to get more than a bare-bones movie disc.

3-0 out of 5 stars Feels more like a long TV episode than an actual movie
Jetsons: The Movie is like a long episode of the show - but with music. It's a fun enough ride, but it never takes on the feel of an actual movie. With its diverse set of characters and intergalactic creatures, it's an interesting enough story.Judged solely as a movie, though, it comes up short (and not only in terms of its running time of 82 minutes, 7 of which are the end credits). The film just never really managed to distinguish itself from old episodes of the show, making you wonder why they bothered to make a movie in the first place.

2-0 out of 5 stars Wicked What ?
I am a huge fan of Ninja Scroll and Fist and I have been waiting a good minute to see this movie. The Animation is GREAT but there is NOT enough action and way too much POINTLESS nudity, and I totally LOVE nudity. Ninja Scroll's nudity was always followed up by scenes of intense-fast action and much gore. This nudity is just there, there is no follow up. There are a few mediocre action scenes but that's about it. It's still cool to watch but I'm still dissappointed that I bought it. The animation is awesome to watch I just wish it was faster with more action. That's all folks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Kawajiri is the man!!
Yoshiaki Kawajiri is one of the best Japanese animators of all time, and this is his best work.People say this pales in comparison to Ninja Scroll, I don't think so, I think this is better (NS is still awesome though).Don't listen to the one-star reviewers, they're probably some fat gothic vampire chicks who call themselves "otakus," masturbate to InuYasha, listen to nu-metal, and think any anime that wasn't released after 1999 is "stupid" or "retarted."
5-0 out of 5 stars What a hell of a movie
For centuries, a secret peace treaty has existed between Earth and The Black World, a parellel dimension population by shape-changers possessing awesome supernatural powers. But now, that pact is up for renewal and a militant faction from the Black World plans to do everything in their power to stop the treaty from being signed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Light Years ahead of it's time.
This is one of the best animated movies of all time. The artwork is superb, the sound track is very well suited to the story and theme, and the story is even better. A true classic. Some people don't like the animation, but I find it much better than the garbage 'anime' that is produced today. I wish that it would be produced in DVD format. This is a must for any SciFi fan's collection.

I feel sorry for the guy who missed out on this film. It like many films that jar the old grey matter are bypassed in the mainstream for flash and flesh that have little else to sustain interest. I loved Akira, but its a different film, like comparing the subtle humor and thought in Local Hero to the flash and chaotic carnage of 28 Days Later, different animals. I highly recommend this film...i've been looking for it for years and finally added it to my collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Animation that makes you think
First off, to the guy who can only say "sucks" and "crappiness" without any real content in his post, i'm sorry you require your movies to do your thinking for you. If you find yourself wishing the movie would end so you can do something else, just stand up and turn it off and save your biliousness for yourself.

My son recently received a T-shirt with Iron Man on it.He had no idea who Iron Man was. When I told him that Iron Man was one of my favorite superheroes as a child, my son could not believe it!It has proven hard for me to find Iron Man videos. This video explains how Iron Man came to be and had a cool adventure in the story line too.Not just my eldest son, whom I bought this for, but all my sons really like this video. It is about 45 minutes. We received it last night and we have watched it twice. We enjoyed it so much that I am now online trying to find more episodes! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A one off
Heavy Metal remains one of my all time favourite animated films. It blows a loud raspberry at political correctness and takes the viewer on a completely uninhibited, devil may care ride. Sure it surfs adolescent fantasies but has a truly great sense of humour which is at its best in three particular episodes - Harry Canyon, Captain Stern and So Beautiful, So Dangerous.
4-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Original, Impossible to Comprehend
Let me begin by quoting the tagline from "Heavy Metal": "Columbia Pictures takes you beyond the future to a universe you've never seen before." Rarely has a phrase been able to perfectly capture the essence of what it's describing. This movie does exactly that: through art, music, and sex, it takes you somewhere you've never been before. However, I can't say whether or not that's a good thing. To be completely honest, I have absolutely no idea what to make of this movie. But I suppose I have to make an attempt, and as I go about it, I find that the word "overwhelming" comes to mind. The various styles, themes, and characters of this traditional cel-animated fantasy clash to an incredible degree, almost to the point of maddening fascination. This is the type of movie that can easily be praised for it's incredible animation; the drawings ranging in appearance from realistic to stylized to overtly comical.
5-0 out of 5 stars Heavy Metal, the greatest piece of American animation.
If you think any of that s**t Walt Disney made was the pinnacle of American animation, think again!!Heavy Metal crushes everything Adolf Disney made (he was anti-Semetic, hence "Adolf").I don't know why this only gets a 4 star average while there's virtually no criticism for that overrated pile of dogs**t The Nightmare Before Christmas (Tim Burton sucks).I recommend this for fans of alternative animation.

5-0 out of 5 stars AMW
A great kids movie and as far as I'm concerned a good movie for adults. I loved the book Treasure Island and I loved this movie for its animation, creativity, music, and especially the superb voice talent. Great movie for anyone. Also recommended: Black Cauldron-great visuals within the movie

4-0 out of 5 stars Under-Rated Gem
"Treasure Planet" bombed at the box office and that's a shame because there is a lot to admire in this under-rated gem. The animation is top notch, the pacing is swift and the movie by and large avoids the treacly conventions that mar most Disney films. If your household is home to a young fan of Pixar features and the animated films of acclaimed Japanese director Hayao Myazaki, I think you will find this a Disney flick worth watching.

5-0 out of 5 stars Glad Disney Took A Chance
I'm not in the habit of reviewing movies, but I'm making an exception for this one because my kids love this movie, and it is my favorite Disney outing to date (though I also enjoyed Tron, Dinosaur, and almost anything from Pixar). This fast-paced, re-imagined version of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic story is watchable for many reasons, but I enjoyed the great voice acting, the Brandywine School inspired backgrounds, and the interesting hybridization of futuristic elements with 18th century technology (I'm glad Disney didn't play it straight with this one).

2-0 out of 5 stars Not the true Days of Future Past
A former reviewer wrote that "This story is just like the storyline that Marvel Comics first made."This couldn't be further from the truth.Bishop and Gambit had absolutely nothing to do with the original Days of Future Past storyline.I vastly prefer the storyline as it was presented in the actual comic books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bakshi's best film
This is one of my all time favorite movies.I saw this film back in the 70's right before Star Wars came out and I remember how I loved the characters the most, the hip old wizard, the babe, and the totally cool assassin, a villain turned hero (I never liked elves or fairies, or hobbits either).
5-0 out of 5 stars A Bakshi gem
Ralph Bakshi was one of the most innovative minds who saw the potential of animation for adults. His work is always an eclectic blend of fantasy and reality, the bawdy with the profound. In this world of escalating violence and terrorism, Wizards can have many new meanings with a very old message about Peace.

5-0 out of 5 stars I guess most people just don't get it!

I can not believe this has gone out of print again. Its the greatest anime movie ever.
5-0 out of 5 stars Big movie in little package, awesome.
This great Transformers movie is great, they put an expansive story/episodes into one movie. In the movie Optimus Prime dies and pass his leadership to Rodimus. See Megatron turn into Galvatron. The Sharkticons, and another race(they live like pirates on a junkyardish star. Then how Unicron came out and the great battle at the end!

Maybe it's because I never saw this as a child (yes, I grew up in the 80's) but I didn't like this movie.I think what really ruined it for me was the music. It made me role my eyes every time I heard the annoying 80's rock blaring at me when there was an action scene. It really dates the flick. But, I'm sure if this had been part of my extensive cartoon watching as a 6 year old, I'd be praising it like everyone else. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A movie for people with taste and style
Cool World is a great movie full of some really great creativity and innovation, and really deserves some credit especially for it's time. In terms of story, acting, and writing, it does okay, however the real shining points of this film are in the animation and more than anything the ideas and production.
1-0 out of 5 stars I wish I could give this film no stars
This is simply the worst animated film I have ever seen in my entire life, there is nothing to warrant even one star. This film is nothing but a mess of wooden characters, bad animation, and a poorly conceived plot. This film could have been good in the right hands, namely Ralph Bakshi's hands. The studio executives changed the entire film without Bakshi's knowledge and the final result was this animated abortion. The film started good at the begining, Frank Harris being sucked into the "Cool World" and eventually a detective there and that's were the qaulity ends. The film goes back and forth between the cartoonist Jack Deebs in the real world, who is given no detail, and the poorly animated and un-funny "Cool World". Then all of sudden at the finale, Jack Deebs is given a massive dose of character development at the very last minute and actaully ends up being the hero. Yes,this is film is actually that sloppy.I think I need to alert the Guantanamo Bay prison camp, they have obviously overlooked "Cool World" as a great form of torture.

4-0 out of 5 stars COOL WORLD

1-0 out of 5 stars Awesome cartoon butchered to cater U.S. audience
I was 15 when I saw the Cobra TV series, back in 1987. The impression I got from this ultra-cool character lingers to this day. The stories were very imaginative, the settings amazing, the character made all his dangerous adventures look easy. Not to mention the rarity of that time of having a TV cartoon with nudity and a hero smoking cigars to breathe underwater!
2-0 out of 5 stars Not even close
This video/"movie" does this awesome character no justice. The story is all cramped up, and the dubbing (as is the case with most english language anime) is terrible.2-0 out of 5 stars The Series is Great. The Movie is Not.
Space Adventure Cobra started as a great manga and then an excellent TV Anime. This movie, unfortunately, represents the only mis-step in Buichi Terasawas' distinguished works of Cobra. In the manga, the story takes several installments to unfold; in the TV series, it takes five espisodes (180mins); but that same plot is cramped and rushed in this Anime length movie. The dubbing is terrible and the movie (sighs) looks dated in this millennium. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply a great cartoon series. Period!
Let me say first that the X-Men are the best cartoon series to ever have been made. I've read the comics and have loved doing so since I first heard of the X-Men. There have been several incarnations of the comics on cartoon shows and the 1992-1996 version is my favorite of them. This episode of that incarnation of the timeless X-Men franchise called "Captive Hearts" finds the X-Men going head to head with an underground subway mutant society called The Morlocks. It all starts Wolverine recuperating after receiving a nasty slash wound from Sabertooth who failed to inflict more damage because of being blasted back by Jubilee's powers and driven away. The main event begins with a mutant kid stealing grapefruits and Jean Grey and Cyclops are eventually taken by the young mutant's colleagues. The X-Men enter an abandoned subway to find and rescue them and Storm eventually takes up the role as the leader during their melee with the Morlocks and faces off against their leader. What I find interesting about this episode in my opinion is that there aren't like total villains like Nimrod, Mr. Sinister, or Mystique although some Morlocks do wind up seeing a star or two floating above their heads but overall, there is no real `total warfare' like if it were against Mr. Sinister or Apocalypse, and ultimate the two parties eventually make peace with each other. However, while this episode main event would be over, the precursor to the following episode "Cold Vengeance" would be shown with Jean Grey finding Wolverine gone. A great episode to enjoy for all X-Men-heads like myself. :-) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars And then it appeared...
I didn't even realize we had this video until I actually started getting in to X-Men. It deals with an extremely interesting plot- the world is at a desructive point, all the X-Men (save Wolverine) are dead, and the Sentinels are threatening to wipe out all mutants everywhere. Unfortunetly, I don't have part two in the series, so I can't say if it gets better or worse, but definately buy this at the first chance, because it's one of the best moments in X-Men!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
If you like wolverine buy this video.Otherwise youll be devistated on what happened to all the other x-men.Which is funny to me but oh well wolverinesthe best.

5-0 out of 5 stars x-men at its hieght

Finding out how they died, the x-men must then go back in time and preventapocalypse from taking over the earth! Editorial Review

This feature-length tape began as a three-episode story line on the animated TV series, a superhero crossover where Bruce Wayne visits Metropolis and the Dark Knight meets the Man of Steel for the first time. The two heroes mix like oil and water, the law-and-order Superman suspicious of Batman's rather ruthless methods; but they form an uneasy partnership when Lex Luthor and the Joker team up to take on the duo. To add a personal dimension to the already edgy rivalry, Wayne romances Lois Lane under Clark Kent's very nose. The stylized animation and sharp design of the TV series give the limited animation a sleek, smooth quality and an energetic sense of movement. Timothy Daly supplies the voices for Clark Kent and (in a deeper register) Superman, with Kevin Conroy performing the same vocal trick for Bruce Wayne/Batman; but Dana Delany only has to worry about one persona as Lois Lane. The once-and-future Luke Skywalker, cult film star turned voice actor Mark Hamill, provides the Joker's cackling banter. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Batman/Superman movie is really good!
The Batman/Superman movie is really good! Batman/ Bruce Wane comes to Metropolis to make a business deal with Lex Luthor. Bruce Wayne is also in Metropolis becuase he wants to date Lois Lane. This story creates tension between Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent, and Lois Lane. Meanwhile the Joker and Harley Quinn are free and they make deal with Lex Luthor to get rid of Superman! This is great animated movie! Bruce Timm did a good job with the story and characters! Highly Recommended! A+

5-0 out of 5 stars re: best Batman animated crossover
I always loved cross-overs, especially in animation. The first teamup between Batman and Superman was as expected: filled with tension both over Lois Lane, and especially the way things are done. Both Heroes take some time to find some footing with each other, and learning to work together before their super-villains try to take them out. This character development was accomplished to an amazing degree; watching the movie you could really feel the emotions coming from them!
5-0 out of 5 stars Superman Was The Best On This Movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't own any other superman movies but this one and it was a really good movie even though it was short. Some of the parts were funny with joker in it and some were with action were superman fights batman and that part was my favorite and the voice of superman which was voiced by Tim Daly and superman's voice was okay. This movie was the best that I rented it a few times and decided to get this movie on DVD and recently I found this at eb games for [..] and it was the last copy they were selling,oh and here is my favorite line,''It's over,Joker''.That line was a good line and I never heard joker call superman ''supie'' and that name just made me laugh, but still this was a good movie and the charcters of this movie were not so bad after all and this movie is highly recommended to any superman/batman fan! ...
