5-0 out of 5 stars Magical
A beautifully realized excursion into a magical world. My attention never wavered as I was struck by one completely unfamiliar concept or scene after another. Often fantasy works leave me a bit cold with the Shakespearean posturing and ambiguous dangers that any variety of spells can be used to bail out of but, this matter-of-fact tale of wonder needs no pretensions and achieves majesty quite easily.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mysterious, full of spirits
This is my third experience with Ghibli studios and I am not disappointed. I am actually starting to develope a taste for their animation. The drawing and coloring was again as great as I expected. The movie starts in a very mysterious setting leaving you a little scared what would come next. As movie passes on you start to see new kinds of spirits. Not many of them are bad, they are just seeking a resting place away from materialistic world. The movie is in general not meant to be about scary ghosts or vengeful spirits. It is actually about coexistence of men and spirits and how they try to reach a balance. In cases spirits help men or vice versa. Myazaki explains in the special features how this animation is based on his real life experience and it seems that he actually modeled the little girl after a friends daughter whom he knew.

Editorial Review

Once upon a time kids learned many of their school lessons in the three-minute episodes of Schoolhouse Rock. These educational cartoons came on during the commercial breaks of the less-than-edifying Saturday morning fare in the 1970s, and despite their healthy content, kids stayed glued to the screen to sing along to the somewhat psychedelic cartoons. Countless children hummed their way through social studies. The Preamble to the Constitution is much easier to remember when it's set to music. And everyone who saw the cartoon remembers how a bill becomes a law ("Oh, I'm just a bill, a lonely old bill, sitting here on Capitol Hill").These and eight other shorts make up Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous show!
This was a great show.I can't say anything better than the other reviewers, so I'll just say that this tape is a low-cost alternative to the DVDs that were released if you just want a little of the show for nostalgic purposes.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ambrose Bierce is a Better Authority
I have rented this video for the sake of a trip down Memory Lane. Of course, fourteen years produce a great shift in gullibility. I hated this video for its teaching of American ideology in perhaps the least open manner imaginable. For example, in

Well, i am here to say this is a fabulous tool! I watched all of these as a child and have shared them with my children. For those of you with the less than 5 star reviews let me say...This is not meant to be an exhaustive history lesson! It is a great way to introduce children to the history of our country. Something that, in my experience, schools made very boring. My children love history. If you find it not as accurate then be the one to take the next step and research it with your kids.I would agree it is geared toward younger kids but not that older kids would find it "stupid" at all! These reviews were pretty harsh. Also, the pilgrims DID plant food.Yes, the indians taught them everything and saved them but i wouldn't call that an inaccuracy. The movie just didn't get that deep into it.Come on now it is only a half hour! I highly recommend this to children of all ages.It opens the door to questions and conversations about our country that may not be raised otherwise. The music is very catchy and stays with you.It is plain and simple fun while being educational at the same time. Don't let the negative reviews sway you. This is a great video series and I highly recommend it!! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars I remember seeing this movie
I saw this movie when I was in elementary school. We went on a field trip. We went to a park after the movie. I was waiting in line to use the restroom and I shouted at one of the teachers for not letting me use it before before we left the park. My teacher did not like my behavior and she told me to owe the person an apology and I refused. As result I was not allowed to go on their field trip with them. I was 11 at that time, but I'm 21 now.

5-0 out of 5 stars We LOVE Little Bill
My girls (5 and 2) love Little Bill. This past Christmas, we bought our girls the Nick Jr. Christmas DVD for a long car trip.Although I thought I would lose my mind with the other two stories that played over and over, I could watch the Little Bill episode everyday. Good thing, because I think we have watched it 500,000 times.5-0 out of 5 stars It doesn't get any better than Little Bill!
THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! Bill Cosby for creating such a wonderful series of books and videos. Last year while pregnant with our first child I began to look for books and videos that were educational and entertaining which shecould watch. So we were quite ecstatic when we came across Little Bill one Saturday morning (Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. Channel 2). Since that day we have purchased every Little Bill book (every series, there are a few) and video. We even have the Little Bill doll. Our daughter has been watching and enjoying Little Bill since she was four months old. She looks forward to Little Bill every day. Already she is familiar with the opening jazz number.Read more

Clark Gesner's musicalization of Charles Schulz's "Peanuts" comic strips was a hit off-Broadway in 1967 and on Broadway in 1999. This video presents 49 minutes of the show, combining the familiar look of "Peanuts" animated television specials with Gesner's charming skits and songs, including the title tune, Snoopy's ode to eating "Suppertime," the Beethoven adaptation "Schroeder," the baseball yarn "T-E-A-M," and the sweet-as-a-warm-puppy anthem "Happiness." It should be noted that Gesner's clever score, while inspired by the actual strips, is aimed at a slightly older viewing audience than are most "Peanuts" videos, and that these young voices occasionally strain to keep up with its demands. Still, it's solid entertainment, and for anyone who performed the show in school and wishes there were a stage performance recorded on video, this is the next best thing. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Cartoon, Good quality VHS
I am releaved and happy to say the condition of the tape is very good. The cartoon itself, classic!I especially love the Pink Panther for appealing to and being appropriate for all ages.My 4 year old son, my 15 and 17 year old nephews and my husband and I all enjoy the Pink Panther cartoons.

5-0 out of 5 stars A PINK CHRISTMAS!!!!!
I ENJOYED THIS I REALLY LIKE THIS. I GUESS BECAUSE I LIKED THE PINK PANTHER CARTOON AS A KID. IT IS A NICE HOLIDAY MOVIE FOR THE KIDS TO ENJOY I LIKED IT. IT IS A FESTIVE MOVIE. IT HAS CAROLERS AND X-MAS DECORATIONS. IF YOU LIKE X-MAS CARTOONS; OR IF YOU LIKED THE PINK PANTHER AS A KID THEN YOU WOULD DEFINITELY ENJOY THIS VIDEO BUY IT!!! I ENJOY IT I WATCH IT EVEN IF IT ISN'T CHRISTMAS!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Older Christmas Toon
If you like the Pink Panther cartoons, then you will like this one! The Pink Panther is cold and hungry on Christmas. He'll try anything to get a hot meal, but nothing seems to work out for him (as usual). There is no dialog, but I think this just enhances the special. I also really love the songs! Its pretty funny and enjoyable. One drawback is the animation is alot like the other pink panther cartoons (which are fairly old) (Think: "Yes Virgina, there is a Santa Claus") So its a bit crude and only a few colours are used (alot of the stuff seems overly pinky/orange). But its still great to watch and I love it! And the ending is cute too! Good for kids or any nostalgic adults. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Tex Avery Wreaks Havoc With "Blitz Wolf"
Even though Volume 4 is the weakest of the "Screwball Classics" series, it's worth having for the rarely seen "Blitz Wolf" (1942). This hilarious WWII satire of "The Three Little Pigs" was Tex Avery's first MGM cartoon and should have won the Oscar for Best Animated Short. With the exception of "What's Buzzin' Buzzard," the remaining cartoons in this collection do not represent Avery's best work.

1-0 out of 5 stars Tex Avery's Screwball Classics, Vol. 3 VHS
I bought this from Gayle and Zak from Plano, Texas and it came in broken. And amazon does not reburse any open VHS items. How else can you tell that the tape is not broken by not opening it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Cartoons
People should be aware that the other review of this video refers to Tex Avery's Screwball Classics Vol. 4, not Vol. 3. Mr. Komorowski has this video confused with that one. This video contains some real classics. I used to watch cartoons on television anticipating seeing a new Tex Avery, and they are certainly some of the funniest cartoons ever. I only give this 4 stars because House of Tomorrow and T.V. of Tomorrow are not as good as the others. They are okay cartoons, but Avery has made better stuff than those two that should have been included instead. Also, T.V. of Tomorrow is also on Vol.4, which is a bit of a nuisance for Avery fans who collect all four of the volumes. Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page to see the list of all of the cartoons on the tape. ... Read more

Jimmy Durante narrates this Christmas story that is based on the song ofthe same name. To make up for the fact that her students are in school onChristmas Eve, the local schoolteacher hires the magician Professor Hinkle to entertain the kids. Unfortunately, he's not a very good magician. Frustrated in his attempt to pull a rabbit out of his hat, he throws it away in anger. Outside, the kids build a snowman (what to call it? Harold? Oatmeal? Frosty!), and when the hat blows onto it, the snowman comes to life. Professor Hinkle decides he wants the hat back so he can make money off of its newfound magical properties, but the kids want to save Frosty. When the temperature starts to rise, a new problem threatens Frosty's existence. Karen, the leader of the children, comes up with a plan to save him: take him on a train to the North Pole, where it's always cold. With a cameo by Santa Claus and the promise of Frosty's return every year, thisstory of life, death, and holiday cheer is glazed with the sweet frosting ofhope and happiness. A true holiday classic. 2-0 out of 5 stars Frosty--5 stars, Frosty Returns-0 stars
Frosty is a perfect classic as always.Great story and characters. But, boy Frosty Returns makes this one you should probably skip.First, the story and songs are weak. Second, Christmas isn't even mentioned. The directors have fallen for the left wing anti-Christmas agenda, resulting in the kids school having a "Winter Carnival" instead. Pathetic. The real Frosty would melt with anger.
5-0 out of 5 stars Frosty always warms me up
In this holiday animated tale from the 1960's a bright young girl named Karen saves an enchanted snowman named Frosty after he is brought to life by accident.
4-0 out of 5 stars Original Frosty - A Classic...Frosty Returns - P.C. Garbage!
The original "Frosty the Snowman" is an animated classic Christmas cartoon that every family should own. The voices of the great Jimmy Durante and Jackie Vernon only add to the charm of this short film. And with the classic cartoon voices of Paul Frees and June Foray, how can you not love "Frosty the Snowman"?

5-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!
This SpongeBob SquarePants DVD has to to be the best one yet! it has a lot of funny episodes from different seasons of the television series. It's really original and the episodes are just good! It's a good collection of 10 episodes and it has over 90 minutes of fun. The special features aren't the best ever because they could have added more, but it's the episodes themselves why you should purchase this item. Below is the list of episodes this DVD contains and the grade I give them.
5-0 out of 5 stars Thank Goodness For The New Cartoons
Nice collections of "SpongeBob" material, though I suggest moving to the seasonal boxed sets instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars What's This? Napping on the Job?
You know how some episodic DVDs creep up on you one episode at a time, and some gather all their episodes and hit you like a fist? Well, not only did SpongeBob SquarePants Halloween hit me like a fist, but it also burst through the ceiling of all expectations (funny and absurd) to emerge as my all time fave SpongeBob DVD!!!!! (Until the next one.)

This movie is like Secret of NIMH with a children's twist. It's full of comedy, adventure, and friendship. This movie is entertaining to children as well as informative for parents. This is absolutely a great movie.

I like how most of these reviews mention the fact that Michelle goes into the toxic gas-filled house and "finds her parents". It's easy to see why this is one of the bestselling sing-alongs from Disney: it plays like the ultimate family-vacation home movie. Instead of fleeting glimpses of your favorite characters on your home videos of Disneyland, this 27-minute episode showcases Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, and their friends hanging out with kids inside the Magic Kingdom singing (well, their lips don't move) such popular songs as " Zip a Dee Do Dah," "It's a Small World," and "Step in Time" with the lyrics appearing on screen for youngsters. The one drawback is the video was shot in 1990, so none of the newer rides are shown, and worse yet, some older rides seen aren't around anymore ("Mom, why didn't we go on the submarine?"). Perhaps that isn't a drawback since, despite the age, and some truly unknown songs ("Making Memories"), the program continues to be popular. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Intro to Disney World too!
I bought this to introduce Disney things to our 2.5-year-old son before we go to Disney World. The appearance of Disneyland & Disney World is so similar that it doesn't matter that this is technically the "other" park. It's great for introducing the characters (and the costumed versions, as opposed to just cartoons), some of the great songs, & the park itself!!Our son loved it!!!We just got it today & he was fascinated. He wanted to watch it again right away.:)

4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT intro to Disneyland for tots -- DISNEY MAKE A NEW ONE
This video/DVD is an ad for Disneyland. I used it to introduce our 2 1/2 year old daughter to the characters and the look of Disneyland. She loved it. I loved it. Daddy hated it -- 'cuz yes, it's an ad. Lots of sweet food, the Disneyland parades and rides and characters; like many reviewers he didn't like the concept of paying to watch an ad. But I honestly believe this helped our daughter enjoy the family trip to one of my favorite places ;-DEspecially the teacups ride and Small World!

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic
How can you not love this title?Personally its charm has ruined me for any other versions of A Christmas Carol. They're all so dull, it's almost a chore to watch those movies that try to capture some sort of haughty classical feel that just doesn't need to be there.I enjoy this movie every time I watch, because it effectively tells the same story while keeping it light.I wish they opt to show this on tv more often instead of all the dull ones that they choose to show.I remember when they showed it every year, like they do with those tiresome greeting card animated specials, yet they don't anymore and it was probably the only special I didn't tire of.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983)
This animated short-film was released in 1983. Two years later, I'm a newborn baby in diapers. For the last 20 years of my life, I have loved this cartoon like you wouldn't believe. This has been one of my all-time Favorite Christmas films of all-time.
5-0 out of 5 stars Oh, what a merry christmas film!
This 1983 Disney adaptation of Dickens's "A Christmas Carol" has animals playing the parts of characters. However, it doesn't pander down to its audiences. This makes it a family film which the whole family can enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars She must be in love with Steve or something!
As with all "Blue's Clues" videos, my 2-year-old daughter just loves this one! We have to keep Steve on the TV all day. My daughter knows all the songs, and she follows along with Steve and Blue's actions (waving, nodding, jumping, etc.). She has it all memorized. Oh, and a word of caution to all parents with toddlers who love Steve: there's a REALLY cute song at the beginning of this video called "Bedtime Business", in which Steve sings about getting ready for bed and bunny slippers and such. My daughter is OBSESSED with this song. We have to keep rewinding back to the beginning of the song like 8 times before she'll watch the rest of the video! Thank goodness this song is on the CD "Goodnight Blue", which fortunately we own! But the two episodes on this video are really cool. I highly recommend it! Oh, and there's a part where Steve and Blue are talking to Magenta on the phone, and it's so cute, because my daughter grabs her "Blue's Clues" phone and pretends she's talking to them, too! Yep, it's definitely one of her very favorite videos!

This is a really good story line! Exceptional imagination and some chemistry! The baker's character is alittle extreme, but he adds to the fun!

Editorial Review

The Disney animated films of any given period all seem to be cut fromone big piece of the same brightly colored cloth. Whatever their sources, they have all been seamlessly Disneyized. The Winnie the Pooh shorts are typical products of the Wolfgang Reitherman period of the '60s and '70s, supervised by the animation director responsible for Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER WINNER FROMA.A. MILNE
WINNIE THE POOH AND THE BLUSTERY DAY IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. WHEN I WAS SMALL I WATCHED IT ENDLESSLY AND NEVER TIRED OF IT. I'D JUST PLOP MYSELF DOWN ON THE COUCH NEXT TO MY BROTHERS AND ENJOY. THE BASIC STORY IS POOH, WHO OF COURSE LOVES HONEY. WHEN TIGGER BARGES IN AND TELLS HIM ABOUT "HEFFALUMPS"(ELEPHANTS) AND "WOOSELS" (WEASLES)AND THAT THEY ABSOLUTELY LOVE HONEY POOH STAYS UP ALL NIGHT WITH HIS POP-GUN AT HIS SIDE FOR FEAR THAT THEY WOULD COME FOR HIS. WHEN HE FINALLY FALLS ASLEEP HE DREAMS OF "HEFFALUMPS" AND "WOOSELS" THE WHOLE TIME. MEANWHILE PIGLET WHO IS ABSORBED IN HIS DREAMS SUDDENLY AWAKES WITH A FRIGHT. THE 100 ACRE WOODS IS COVERED WITH WATER! FLOOOOD! WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IS HEADING OVER TO CRISTOPHER ROBINS HOUSE (WHICH IS ON A HILL)POOH AND PIGLET ARE STUCK OUT IN THE FLOOD ABOUT TO GO DOWN A "FLUTTERFALL" (PIGLET'S VERSION OF A WATERFALL)WILL OWL SAVE THEM OR WILL HE JUST LET THEM FALL WHILE HE'S TELLING THEM ABOUT HIS "UNCLE JEREMIAH"? YOU'LL HAVE TO WATCH AND SEE.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ahhh... The classical Pooh!
This is my all-time favorite DISNEY series. I've been watching the entire set of tapes for WTP since I was about 2 or 3 and I STILL never get tired of it! There are 3 episodes in all, and if you were to put em together, you'd get what they call "The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh". This is but one of the many chapters that were used in that movie but all 3 used to have to be sold seperately back in the day. However, I was one of the lucky ones to get the COMPLETE VHS boxed-set that had all 3 Pooh-Bear episodesincluding: "Winnie The Pooh And The Honey "(1966), "Winnie The Pooh And The Blustery Day"(1968), "Winnie the Pooh And Tigger Too!"(1974). Yes, it even had the BONUS episode, "Winnie The Pooh And A Day For Eeyore"(1983). Blustery Day itself, is one of my favorites next to Tigger Too and is a very VERY fun movie! When a terrible storm hits the 100 Acre Wood, Piglet is stranded out at sea during a giant flood! Can Pooh save his friend within the nick of time? You'll just have to watch to find out!! I highly reccomend you add this to your Disney collection and get the kids. They'll love it! BTW, don't pay any attention to those NEWER versions of the classical Pooh. In my opinion, it's just not the same. They don't make 'em like they used to. :(

2-0 out of 5 stars Parents should know before buying
Any parents concerned about their young toddlers or children viewing guns on television may not want to purchase this video. When Pooh is scared at night he gets out his pop gun and starts pacing with it on his shoulder ready to protect himself from any intruders.I was very disappointed in this video. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful animated feature allegedly based on the true story
Plot in a nutshell - at the beginning of the 20th century, Russia is thrown into chaos when Czar Nicholas and most of his family is killed thanks to a curse by the evil "sorcerer" Rasputin (voice of Christopher Lloyd), but one daughter, Anastasia (voiced by Kirsten Dunst as a child), manages to survive, for better or worse, but with amnesia. Years later, the adult Anastasia (voiced by Meg Ryan, once of one of Hollywood's most sought after actresses, her career now in a state of severe disrepair thanks to her much over publicized fling with Russell Crowe), known only as Anya, is released from a Russian orphanage with no memory of her past, her only clue being a necklace with an intimate message written on it that indicates Paris as a place of importance. In trying to get to Paris, she falls in with two charmingly lovable scoundrels, Dmitri (voice of John Cusack) and Vlad (Kelsey Grammar); the two con-men intend to present an "Anastasia" lookalike to the Duchess (voice of Angela Lansbury), the last surviving member of the Royal Family, who is holding meetings with girls claiming to be Anastasia in hopes of finding the real one so that they can get the reward money she's offering. Initially unaware that Anya is the real Anastasia but merely assuming that she is an uncanny lookalike, Dmitri & Vlad decide to clean Anya up and present her to the Duchess. Along the way, long buried secrets are revealed and unexpected feelings arise as the nearly dead Rasputin and his bat sidekick Bartok try to destroy the trio.
5-0 out of 5 stars I watched it as a little kid and remember...
I remember when i was 3 my dad brought home this movie and the minute i watched it i fell in love with it. Now I'm twelve and found the movie, and i fell in love with it again. The story line is amuzing and i love it to this day. I like the music too. If you really listen to The Beginning, it will make you cry, at least it made me cry. If you don't buy the movie, buy the music...OR BOTH!

5-0 out of 5 stars What a Fabulous Movie!
The music is very entertaining and the story really catches your attention. The plot is well put together along with the thrilling and suspenseful scenes of action/adventure. Anastasia (though she doesn't know who she is) is on a quest to find the truth about her past, and bumps into a few guys conning to get a girl to pretend she's the long lost Anastasia and receive their reward, if the girl fits the part. Together, they all go on the journey expecting to find what they're looking for, but on the way there, they face many challenging obstacles, growing closer together all the time. Even a little romance between the travelers comes in that threatens both their lives and having them never actually getting what they traveled the long way for. This movie is totally worth it!!!! ...
