There is greatness in film that can be discussed, dissected, and talked about late into the night. Then there is genius that is right in front of our faces--we smile at the spell it puts us into and are refreshed, and nary a word needs to be spoken. This kind of entertainment is what they used to call "movie magic," and there is loads of it in this irresistible computer animation feature. This sweet, heartwarming 1973 offering from the Peanuts gang (and Charles Schultz) once again shows Charlie Brown in a pickle, as his erstwhile friends impose upon the hapless would-be-host to provide a memorable and traditional Thanksgiving feast. And as much as Charlie Brown would rather forget the whole thing, he just can't help but try for fear of being labeled a failure. Ultimately it's up to Snoopy and Woodstock to save Charlie from certain embarrassment, and it falls to Linus to impart to all assembled the true meaning of Thanksgiving. This very special Emmy Award-winning cartoon features the usual sweet unassuming humor that only the Peanuts can provide, along with the melodic Vince Guaraldi score, and is one of those childhood classics meant to be enjoyed again and again. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Special!!
Not quite as good as the Christmas and Halloween Specials, but still one of our favorites. The "Mayflower Voyage" bonus on the DVD is wonderful!!It is an historically accurate version of the Mayflower voyage that appeals to children because it retains the charm of the Peanuts characters without being too "cutesy."My second grade twins studied the pilgrims this year and I offered to share our DVD with their teachers. They had never heard of it before but they absolutetly loved it because it fit right into what the children were learning in the classroom. The Mayflower Voyage ended up being shown in virturally all of the primary grade classrooms in November.I am buying them their own copy to use next year!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Fun!!
I have to say that this is a Thanksgiving tradition where we watch this on TV and I just bought the DVD and we can watch it on our own time during the thanksgiving season.I love it when snoopy is cooking the thanksgiving dinner and get into a fight with the law chair. The bonus feature "The Mayflower Voyage" is educational but boring.I still give it 5 stars

5-0 out of 5 stars Peppermint Patty needs a smack in the mouth.
Who the heck does she think she is? First she invites herself over to Charlie Brown's house for Thanksgiving, then she invites her girlfriend and Franklin too! What's up with that? Of course Chuck has no backbone and agrees to everything even though all he can make is popcorn and toast. Well thank God Snoopy comes to the rescue. Sure he gets in a fight with a lawn chair, but he gets the place set up.

Littlefoot and the gang meet a shy newcomer, Ali, but the pleasantries stop there. There's a dire environmental theme to this third sequel in the series, in which the world's weather changes beyond the Great Valley, and what had been dry land is now a "land of mists." The shift brings new creatures who push out older inhabitants, and Littlefoot sees these radical changes for himself when he has to venture into the area to find a medicinal flower for his sick grandfather. While the animation is slow and contained the way direct-to-video cartoon releases often are, the story is sound and the now-familiar characters are memorable. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars AGreatSucces! ! ! !
I really like this movie because of the great lesson it teaches, and it is hillarious!!It starts when a herd of "Longnecks" come to the Great Valley to tell of some news of some strange weather changes in different places not far from the Great Valley. The wandering Longnecks call it the,"The Land of Mists."Everybody in the Great Valley is not too upset, I mean, why would there be any reason for them to go to a place like that? Right? WRONG!Littlefoot's Grandpa suddenly becomes ill, and his one and only hope is to eat the petals of a golden flower that grows only in, "The Land of Mists!"So Littlefoot, Ducky,Cera,Petrie,Spike and a new comer Ali journey to "The Mists" to find the petals of the Golden Night flower. But, they are not alone as they are looking for the flower, for deep in the shadows, lurks two pesky villains, looking for something to eat.......So, if you are wondering what's going to happen, get the movie!!

It was cute, and Petrie and Ducky kick butt in this one. The villans were funny when the sang their song "Not Me" It was so funny. I don't call it the best one though. I wish that they didn't have Cera pick on Petrie so much. In fact she picks on him the most. Tell her off Petrie! That's my only complaint. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars well remembered
This is a wonderful way for children to learn about American historical figures. My 3 year old son was continually entertained by the songs and different animation. It is a must have on our Disney list.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sparks further conversation and investigation!!
This is a collection of animated Disney shorts hosted by James Earl Jones...Johnny Appleseed is a fanciful, folksy, story-song tale of the real-life planter who seeded the Midwest...The Brave Engineer is a screwball version of "The Ballad of Casey Jones"... Paul Bunyan is a tall tale with the giant lumberjack as a homespun Zeus in flannel and logger boots creating the mountains and valleys of the American West with his big, blue ox, Babe...John Henry is a new take on an old folk tale. Kids of all ages will enjoy this movie which will spark further conversation and investigation.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Way to Introduce Kids to American Tall Tales
Disney's AMERICAN LEGENDS is a compilation of several great legends of America's past, celebrating stories of great men doing great (and not so great) deeds. The selection of stories is interesting, and each has a definitive place in American (and Disney) history. While the stories may be a bit different from what you were told (if you were told them at all, considering most of the heroes are not what one would call politically correct), all in all, it's an enjoyable collection that my family watches about once a month.

5-0 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud funny!
I love this movie. How can you not with such hilarious diologue? One of my most favorites is when Yzma outlines her first plan to get rid of Kuzko.Ending with a hilarious "I'll smash it with a hammer!"But diologue aside, there's so much more to this movie. The characters are so wonderfully individual, from self-absorbed Kuzko, to evil Yzma with her "secret lab", to dim witted Kronk with his shoulder angel and devil

123 Count With Me really helped familiarize my then 2-3 year old daughter with not just the recognition of numbers and the concept of 'how many' but also the concepts of 'sequence' and why we 'count' things. 3-0 out of 5 stars Some Good and Some Blah
I was so excited when I found this old movie on my shelf.I remember liking it a lot back in the day when I was a kid. This time when I watched it though, I was surprised to see it drag in several places.George goes through the same comic routine of getting caught in the sprocket machine several times, and it takes forever for someone to come up with an idea of staying in the plant after working hours to figure out what's causing all the trouble.
3-0 out of 5 stars Tiffany almost ruins it.
When they made this movie, they recorded the voices with the original cast. Before release they thought that it would help marketing to replace Janet Waldo's voice with Tiffany's. If this were a new creation that would have been fine, but everyone knows what Judy Jetson is supposed to sound like, and it isn't Tiffany. I don't think enough people knew or cared about this to affect ticket sales anyways. Since they did record the whole movie initially with Janet Waldo as Judy, if that recording still exists, when this makes it to DVD it should have an alternate track with the original vocals. It wouldn't be hard to do, but movies like this rarely get much love on DVD. Hanna-barbera has given a lot of love to their series sets though, but since Universal and MCA are mixed up in this one, I'd be surprised to get more than a bare-bones movie disc.

3-0 out of 5 stars Feels more like a long TV episode than an actual movie
Jetsons: The Movie is like a long episode of the show - but with music. It's a fun enough ride, but it never takes on the feel of an actual movie. With its diverse set of characters and intergalactic creatures, it's an interesting enough story.Judged solely as a movie, though, it comes up short (and not only in terms of its running time of 82 minutes, 7 of which are the end credits). The film just never really managed to distinguish itself from old episodes of the show, making you wonder why they bothered to make a movie in the first place.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dora's Pirate Adventure terrific!
My grand daughter, age 2, watched this "movie" over and over. She enjoyed it very much. The rest of us enjoyed watching her reaction to the adventure. I am sure we will be watching it many more times with her.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Show
I am a 20 year old man who really enjoys this show. I first started watching Dora about a year ago and became hooked on it. I watched it with my girlfriends 4 year old daughter night and day. We had all the toys, the house, the backpack, name it we had it. Dora is so well done. I basically learned Spanish through watching this show. I still wake up everyday to catch the episodes on Nick Jr and Noggin. Pirate adventure is my favorite Episode right next to Big Sister Dora. I love pigs. This is just a great program that, as you can see, is fun for any ages.

4-0 out of 5 stars More Essential Scooby
These 2 episodes really fall into the more essential Scooby category. The first episode has a normal start with creepy elements. (Good) The disappearance of the professorkeeps us in suspense. We also get to see Scooby and Shaggy's unusual taste in food: 'Liverwurst and ice cream? What will they think of next?' The sassy, but sharp Velmah ofcourse notices the first clue. We are also offered the wonderful chemistry of Velmah, Shaggy, and Scooby. The transition from speculation and wonder to the 'mummy's' first appearance is both funny and spooky. We also get to see Scooby's negotiation methods: SHAGGY "Won't you stop him for a Scooby snack?" SCOOBY "Ok." SHAGGY "The whole box??!!" We get to see Scooby's unusual talent for running off screen and coming back in a uniform suited for the moment. We also are kept in suspense by wondering why the 'mummy' is after a coin. Shaggy also has his killer one liners: "Oh! It's the creepy coin collector again.' There is a hilarious scene with Scooby, Shaggy, and a statue of Scooby. We also get to see how poor Daphne is always causing accidents. Also, we are offered a gradual recognition of events. Even if you find out the secret identity of the mummy early, it is still fun to watch how it all comes together. The 2nd episode is also quite good. We have a creepy but plausible start. The disappearance of the professor keeps us in suspense. Also, Shaggy and Velmah get separated which creates more suspense. Without revealing too much, a victim is a mislead. (Great) Ofcourse, Shaggy and Scooby accidentally find the important clue. Some of Shaggy's one liners are there: "I don't like surprises. Especially spooky ones."Velmah loses her glasses, and poor Daphne causes trouble by accident again. There is also a harsh reality to the ending of this episode. The movie "Scooby Doo On Zombie Island" will probably always be Scooby's best to me, but this tape with these two wonderful episodes is a definite must!

5-0 out of 5 stars See The Very First Episode of Scooby Doo, and own it too!
Starting with "What A Night For A Knight" which is what would today be called the pilot episode of Scooby Doo Where Are You?Scooby and the gang encounter a seemingly haunted suit of armor in a museum. It's fun to watch this episode (especially when Freddy says "It looks likewe've got another mystery on our hands" or something close to that, even though this is the First Mystery they stumble onto!)Scooby andShaggy reveal their penchant for snacks, Velma loses her glasses, and allthe fun begins with this episode. "Scooby Doo and a Mummy Too"also involves a museum, although this time the creepy undead happens to bea Mummy in search of a coin. And he lets everybody know it too!For fansof Scooby Doo and cartoons in general or if you have kids and can't standthat purple dinosaur this and every other tape in this collection is agreat and cheap investment.(.....)

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Let Your Kids Watch This!!
To this day, I still remember watching The Last Unicorn. Why? I was only about 5 years old and it haunts me to this day. PLEASE. If you love your kids, don't let them watch this unless they're at least 10 years old and unimpressionable. I had nightmares from this show for months. If you're older, this is a great show. It's refreshinng and different. Now that I'm older, I love it, but I will NOT show it to my children. Really, it should be rated PG10 or something. Way too scary for little kids in the G category.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lousy sound, lousy video. Stay away!
Don't buy this DVD! This DVD is playing in my living room right now, and I took the opportunity to get away and write this review. We popped this into the player and settled in for our Friday family movie & pizza night on the couch. I've never seen this movie, and I don't think I ever want to watch it all the way through. The picture and sound quality are both so lousy that I can't stand to watch for more than 5 minutes. I bought this as a surprise for my wife, who loved this as a kid. And as much as she loves it, she's even noticed how warbly the sound is and isn't enjoying it very much. Also, being full screen, not wide screen, much of the picture is cut out. There's some scene where two characters are talking to each other from opposite sides of the TV screen, and you can hardly see them... you mostly just see a castle wall.
5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this movie.
I REALLY want to watch this movie amain. I would give anything. But in my town it is not at the video-stores or at any stores I have been to. I liked the unicorn the best. The red bull was scary and so was the harpy. The prince was handsome. It was so touching and the animation and the music was beautiful. I haven't seen it since I was 8 and I would LOVE to see it again. I would strongly recommend buying this movie. It is one you will want to see over and over again. P.S. I think this movie should get an award. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent; especially during Christmas
This film brings back wonderful memories when I was a child; especially, during Christmas.
4-0 out of 5 stars Fear not, DVD is on it's way!
I have loved this film since I was a little tyke and faithfully watched it every Christmas. While a little darker than the other R&B specials, it still has that almost tangible sense of wonder. My wife had never seen it growing up and when we watched it together she was amazed.
5-0 out of 5 stars Unique take on the origins of Santa Claus
I must say I am sorely disappointed the Rankin/Bass people have yet to adapt this, one of their last, great contributions to Christmas stop-action puppet programs, to DVD.Growing up, while I always counted "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "The Year Without a Santa Claus" as the two best R/B Xmas shows, I also became a devoted fan of 1985's "Life and Adventures of Santa Claus".Perhaps because this tale is remarkably devoid of any sentimentality (unlike the other R/B adaptations) and embraces numerous issues such as class conflict (when Claus is shown the suffering of the poor in the mortal world) and the universal struggle of good against evil (the Great Ak and the Immortals against the Aguas [or however that's spelled, but it sounds like "Aguas"]).

Editorial Review

This third installment of the Disney Pooh series, first released in1974, is perhaps the liveliest, in part because the hyperactively bouncy stuffed tiger of the title seems tailor-made for animation. The story line, in which Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, and company have to come to terms with the disruptive new presence in the Hundred Acre Wood, could almost be described as morally uplifting. And the character's theme song, "The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers," is the only really memorable number in the entire series; your kid will be singing it for days. The throaty tones of Paul Winchell, as Tigger, are a definite asset--and voice choices are by no means a neutral issue. When Disney chose the familiar tenor of in-house voiceover performer Sterling Holloway for the title character, it was a good example of what the politically minded call an "appropriative" gesture: a way of enveloping A.A. Milne's great children's book hero, of transforming him instantly into a generic Disney character. (You would never guess from the Disney renditions of Christopher that in the books, originally published in the 1920s, everybody was British.) The marketing machinations came full circle when Disney purchased rights to the original drawings by illustrator Ernest Shephard; merchandise depicting the two versions of the characters are now sold side by side in The Disney Store, like so many cans of New and Classic Coke. Attention: All Parents5-0 out of 5 stars A story worth buying!
This is the third story released by Disney in 1974, and is one that is worth buying for kids and adults. They will be fascinated by the unique story and all of the original voices and the color and the fabulous illustrations. 5-0 out of 5 stars Tiggers are wonderful things!
I remember being a little kid and eating homemade fudge while watching this awesome movie! My little sister was a Tigger fanatic and all of us loved this movie! It reprises some of the atmosphere of its predecessor (Blustery Day) wbat with the "Tiggers" song and some of the 'creepiness' of scenes like Rabbit in the woods and of Pooh & Piglet circling round the sand pit and being afraid of "jagulars", as well as the almost-bittersweetness at the end (in this case, Rabbit retracting his demand that Tigger never bounce again). It's hard to explain, but I think that anyone who loves these classic movies will agree with me and know what I'm getting at!Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best.
Adapted from Winnie-The-Pooh(1926) and The House At Pooh Corner (1928)by A.A. (alan Alexander) Milne(1882-1956),Illustrated by E.H. (Ernie Howard) Shepard (1879-1976).The main characters are Christopher Robin Milne and Winnie-The-Pooh(the stuffed bear).4 summers ago, when I was 6 1/2 ,I went to Target Drug store -the one in Walnut Creek,CA Usa to be exact-I received Winnie-The-Pooh (1966).It is a great toddlervideo. But eventhough I am NOT a toddler anymore, I still LOVE it.This wasn't really what you would call a movie. It was just a theatrical short viewed before a movie in theatres to enjoy.Only the 1hour films by Disney are movies. Besides,it's only about 25 minutes. It starred Sterling Halloway(1899-1992)as pooh, Bruce Reitherman(who also did the voice of Mowgli in The Jungle Book)(1956-)as Christopher Robin,Hal Smith(1916-1994)as Owl and Ralph Wright as Eeyore. It also featured John Fiendler (1925-) as Piglet.The5 songs were "Winnie-The-Pooh","When I up-down,touch the ground","I'm so rumbily in my tumbily","I'm just a littleblack rain cloud" and "Hooray!".The last of the the theatrical shorts to be produced by Walt Disney(1902-1966).It was the first theatrical short about Pooh Bear. The animation was great!I love the opening piece of music.THe A.A. milne books were good, too!Ever since that "willy nilly silly ole bear"was first brought to life in theatres,He was one of the most best-loved Disney characters in all 7 continents.TTFN

5-0 out of 5 stars A timeless classic
This is a wonderfully charming tape, that is a true classic for kids and parents to share together. 5-0 out of 5 stars The classic tales are by far the best for toddlers
We are absolutely thrilled with this collection. My daughter is now two, and she's been watching them since about 18mo. These older stories are much easier for little ones to follow than the current Disney Pooh stories on TV, and, according to my daughter, they're less "scary" as well. My husband and I also prefer the theme songs and the narrator to today's more updated version. My daughter knows all of the lyrics to the theme song now. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Looks like it was drawn by geeks.
The animation in this show is so corny and poorlydrawn that I'm surprised that this show has lasted as long as it has.It was made at Hanna-Barbarra studios, who have forgotten what animation is all about.

5-0 out of 5 stars One SMALL complaint.....
Dexter's Lab is one of the best comedic 'toons that Cartoon Network has ever created. Its fun for the whole family (adults will love it too). Its definitely a great buy, but why isn't it on DVD?? This would be a must-have DVD for any animation fan, especially for those of us who grew up with classic Warner Bros. comedy.I say it should be released on DVD so as to preserve it on a medium worthy of such a great show.Well, no matter... buy this, pop it in your VHS, and have fun!

4-0 out of 5 stars great show
I only recently got into "Dexter's Laboratory" (when "Ego Trip" was released on video) because my cable service doesn't offer "Cartoon Network," so I'm glad other episodes are finally available. This is a really great show -- it's smart, funny, and the colors and designs are some of the best of their type since the early days of "Ren & Stimpy."Like the best entertainment for kids, it's aimed at young people (I would've loved this if it'd been around when I was ten years old) but it also works on a level that adults can appreciate.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This movie is for everyone, not just children.
It's a story about not being afraid.I think my parents got it for me because I have a chronic lung condition known as Cystic Fibrosis and they wanted to encourage the idea of being brave.Or, it was just because my dad was big into drugs and he wanted me to watch one of the coolest psychedelic films around. This movie totally rocks either way.

3-0 out of 5 stars who thought this up?
well, theres this boy whois gone mental and never ever talks.so one night this magic dragon takes him into a paper world where they battle symbolic images of the childs problems.sort of a intensive crash psychotherapy.the kid perks up.the end.kids kind of like it,but not really.id likew to point out that the dragon does not die as many belived he did in the song.actualy,he doent in the song either.so no deaths.thats a plus since this is a childrens movie.it is very emotional to watch the mentaly ill jackie draper suffer through his emotional problems.it is very much consistent with the book.when the dragon fixes jackie and hes better then he leaves, that part really sucks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bring back Puff!
I recently rented this video from my local library for my four year old son.He loved it!I remember this movie from my childhood.I loved it then--and still do!It's wonderful to share things from your childhood with your own child.I'm looking to purchase new copies of this movie on video or DVD.Read more

Editorial Review

Horse lovers young and old will celebrate this utterly enjoyable and marvelous-looking animated film. The titular stallion runs free in the Cimarron (New Mexico) wilderness until a series of men try to master the proud horse, leading to adventures through a U.S. Cavalry fort, Native American settlements, and a railroad camp. Despite a heavy dose of political correctness and realism (the animals don't talk; we only hear Spirit's internal monologue, voiced by Matt Damon), directors Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook give their hero many only-in-a-movie moments, including an action sequence rivaling any of Rambo's escapes. The stirring mix of 2-D and 3-D animation is absolutely stunning and aptly fueled by composer Hans Zimmer's synthesized score. The film earns one demerit for '80s rocker Bryan Adams's abundant songs--a different singer could have brought more to the film. Rated G but there is some rough treatment of horses shown, so nix the sensitive preschoolers. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best horse movie ever!
This is the best horse movie ever! I just loved the music, especially the song where Spirit is born. The animation was awsome and the actual story was so thrilling and touching. Spirit and Rain's love story is really neat. Be prepared to cry and laugh at the same time! Thumbs up and 5 stars for Spirit!

Editorial Review

The popular Nickelodeon Jr. show for the 2-4 age group does an excellent job of introducing simple vocabulary and numerical concepts in these twoepisodes. In the first, Steve and his dog Blue's house is labeled todiscover what book Blue wants to have read to her. The labels (everythingfrom "refrigerator" to "wall") are treated lightly, Steve mostly askingthe audience to name the first letter of each word. Steve and Blue alsowork on constructing a simple sentence.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb! Outstanding!
The ABC part is really a whole language reading lesson. Couple that with Dr. Suess's Hop on Pop and you can teach your kid to read.
4-0 out of 5 stars Best for 3 and up
The title fooled me I bought this viseo. I bought it for my home daycare. I thought this would video to learn letters and begining count. This video is more advanced than that. It teachs words and begining math. It's a fun and well made video. It's jst not great for 18 to 2 1/2 yr olds. For that age group I'd suggest getting Sesame Street - 123 Count With Me, Sesame Street - The Great Numbers Game, Leap Frog - Letter Factory, & Sesame Street - The Alphabet Jungle Game

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Blue
We've had this video for over 5 yrs.It is now making it's way into our 2nd son's video repetoire. My oldest absolutely loved Blue when he was 1 and 2 yo.These videos are helpful in that they teach thinking skills using fun songs and bright colors. It's no wonder that Blue's Clues is still in production all these years later. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Educational Standpoint
From an Educational standpoint, It is a great video to teach young people about the digestion system. My middle schoolers and high schoolers love it and they even sing along with the magic school bus theme song, which most of them remember from when they were little.

4-0 out of 5 stars Errrp! " 'Scuse Me!"
Well, lots of info on the digestive tract and the answer to the mystical question, "Is it really bad for you to swallow gum?" Even a creative "ending" to avoid the unpleasant natural "ending"! Alittle too much story at the beginning for me, but my kids (4 and 8) didn't mind it a bit.
