4-0 out of 5 stars Pete's Dragon
I loved this movie when I was young and I know my future child will also love it. A wonderful plot line and great, catchy songs.

1-0 out of 5 stars Blech.
I have not watched this movie in years, but it was the only disney movie that bored me to death.

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic!
We bought this title for our son after he saw it at Grandma's house, and he loves it.In the tradition of Disney, there are lots of catchy tunes, characters that even adults will enjoy, and the hero, a dragon named Elliot. It was a movie that I loved as a child, and now I can share it with mine! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars terrible
This movie has two issues that make it terrible for children. It is very based on evolution with de-evolution being a big part of the story. Secondly, there is a scene where two children sell their souls to a circus owner, signing on the line in their own blood. For those who do not object to these things, there is the rest. It is brainless, plotless, pointless, foolishness; not to mention very, very dumb. Kids do like the animated dinosaurs walking, talking, back to life. However that doesn't make it worth showing them or (yuck) actually having to sit through the whole miserable movie.

3-0 out of 5 stars Another '90s Flop
I agree that this is a video somewhat suitable for children. They enjoy it. They sing along to it. They mimic the childish flirtations between the two human main characters. All-in-all, a passable kids' movie.

3-0 out of 5 stars Dora's "Move to the Music"
This is not one of the better Dora videos. The first episode is lively and fun, and my 15 month old daughter really enjoys it.However, the second episode is a lot less colorful and depicts stark scenes of a storm. My daughter has not watched this whole video, opting just to watch the first half and then fussing to have the second turned off.

4-0 out of 5 stars Probably a 5
This movie takes all the clamation classics I remember as a kid and turns them upside down like only Tim Burton can.A twisted tale of the characters of Halloween town taking over Christmas after kidnapping Santa Claus.Though some of the characters are a little frightening for the young ones, the tone is mostly upbeat and funny. This is a charming, though very short movie. The dvd itself is loaded with great extras and worth the price two times over. ... Editorial Review

The wondrous story of Christ's birth is told by an unlikely source: Nestor, a gentle donkey with incredibly long ears and a first-hand knowledge of life in a stable. This simple tale, which takes place in the days of the Roman Empire, is about a humble couple about to take a long journey to Bethlehem and a small, insignificant donkey who is destined to help them along. By all outward appearances, Nestor is undeserving of such a privilege. Stable animals tease him incessantly for his long appendages until, finally, he is cast out of the barn into the winter cold. Snow and ice bring about even greater calamity for Nestor until he receives a dose of divine goodness. Nestor meets Tilly, a heavenly cherub (voiced by Brenda Vaccaro) who imparts guidance to the despairing burro and tells him that soon he would be chosen to participate in a miracle involving a star and a baby, a lowly stable and some travelers named Mary and Joseph. Short and sweet, this stop-motion Christmas gem from Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass is narrated by Roger Miller. Get out the hanky for an understated holiday classic that will appeal to families of all ages. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's So Awesome, And Adorable.
It's So Awesome, And Adorable. The Movie Starts Off When Santa Claus And His Reindeer Flew Away. And Mrs. Claus And The Elves Wave Good-Bye To Santa Claus. Then A Donkey Named Speltoe Showed Us A Snowplow And A Toy Cart That He Pulled. And He Also Gave Us A Tour Of The Reindeer Barn Where He And The Other Reindeer Sleep At. He Showed Us, Dasher's Stall, Dancer's Stall, Prancer's Stall, Vixen's Stall, Comet's Stall Cupid's Stall, Donner's Stall, Blitzen's Stall, And Roudolph's Stall Too. Then He Showed Us The Christmas Tree. And Below The Christmas Tree We See The Manger With, The Virgin Mary And Joseph And Baby Jesus. And The Animals. Then Speltoe Told Us That The Donkey Was His Ancister Nester. Then Speltoe Told Us The Story About Him. And The Story About Nester Dates Back In The Roman Empire Times. Way Before Christ Was Born. In A Small Farm Where Nester Lived With His Mom And A Host Of Other Animals. Nester Was Always Tripping Over His Long Ears. And No-One Wanted Him To Play With Them. Then When The Owner And His Dog Came Into The Barn To Feed The Animals. The Owner Fed Nester's Mom. But Not Nester. Then On The Next Night. The Animals In The Barn Were Having A Party. And They Were Giving Eachother Presents. Then Nester's Mom Gave Nester A Pair Of Old Wool Socks. And The Cute Little Donkeys Were Starting To Like Nester. Then When The Party Was Over. All Of The Animals Went To Sleep. When Suddenly The Barn Door Burst Open. And There Were Three Roman Soldiars Appeared In The Barn Doorway. Then All Of The Animals Woked Up. Then The Owner Came And Asked The Leader Of The Three Roman Soldiars What Do They Want. Then The Leader Of The Three Roman Soldiars Told The Owner That The Emperor Wants Strong Young Donkeys And He Told The Owner To Show Them To Him. Then The Owner Led The Three Roman Soldiars To The Cute Little Donkeys. Then The Three Roman Soldiars Grabed Some Of The Young Donkeys. Then They Grabbed Nester Too. Then Nester's Mom Was Upset. Until They Found Nester's Long Ears. And They Decided Not To Take Him But They Took The Others Instead. Then The Owner Was Sad. Then The Three Roman Soldiars Took The Other Young Donkeys Away. Then The Owner Was Mad At Nester. Then He Threw Nester Outside. Then Nester Was Scared And All Alone. Until His Mom Came. She Had Got Away From The Owner And Ran Outside The Barn To Look For Her Son. Then She And Nester Went Somewhere. Then She Dug A Hole In The Snow. And Told Nester To Get In. Then Nester Went Into The Hole. And She Covered Her Son Up. Then The Next Morning Nester Was Sad Because His Mom Had Died. She Sacraficed Herself To Save Him. Now Nester Was Alone Again. So If You Want To Know What Happens To Nester Next. Then You Should Buy This Movie. It's A Great Christmas Present For Your Children.
5-0 out of 5 stars Brings Tears to my eyes every time!
This is a classic in its own right. I can't watch this Christmas special without tears coming to my eyes. Nestor, who is ridiculed by his friends because of his long ears, has to find the purpose why he was given those ears. Part of it includes his mother sacrificing herself so Nestor can live.
4-0 out of 5 stars Very Nice!
I like the Rankin and Bass Christmas specials which I watched when I was a kid little and I still like to watch them. For some reason I didn't see Nestor the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey when I was little but have now since seen it and I think it's a very moving and inspirational story and I highly recommend it! ... Editorial Review

A baby fruit bat finds her world turned literally upside down after getting separated from her mother and adopted by a family of birds in this Scholastic film, based on Janell Cannon's award-winning children's book. A "warm and sultry forest far, far away" is the setting for the animated tale of friendship and self-discovery as Stellaluna attempts to fit in with Pip, Flap, and Flitter, three baby birds, and their mother. Thinking herself a bird as well, Stellaluna tries hard to obey the rules of the nest--which prohibit hanging upside down and flying at night--yet she is confused by her struggles to belong. While retaining the beauty and spirit of its namesake book, the film embellishes the plot with a few enjoyable characters, including a pair of talkative toucans and, later, a superhero spider who helps save the day. Cannon's important message shines forth brightly, to celebrate individuality while embracing each other's differences. (Ages 4 to 10) Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids love it - Watched it over and over
My kids loved this movie!(and book)They want to watch it over and over. They really enjoy the part where a teacher comes on a teaches about real bats at the end too. They have learned all these new facts about bats and they are only 3 and 4.I rarely buy DVD but this one is worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stellaluna
My 34-month old daughter loves it! The DVD is very informative and shows children a different type of animal, who sleeps "differently": upside down. Thanks to Stellaluna, my daughter now is familiar with bats.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoy it for what it is: a fine story with embellishments
I am surprised by all the complaints I see from other reviewers. We bought this in a two-pack with the Miss Spider DVD, because our 4-year-old had enjoyed the Miss Spider TV shows. After watching both of these "movies," he did not want to watch Miss Spider -- but he requested the Stellaluna DVD over and over.

This is the first video of this children's favorite series that's not just a TV segment. The introduction, created for the video, follows Blue's intrepid friend Steve as he visits a kid's house to learn the "Birthday Candle Dance." It's only six or so minutes but it does add to the fun. Then it's on to Blue's fabulous birthday party, where she has left some clues for what she really wants for her birthday. Another winner. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a real hit
My 2 year old LOVES Blue and Blue's Clues. We rented this one from the library and she wanted to watch it over and over - I think there's just something magical about birthdays (and other holidays for that matter) for small children. So far this week she has been at her play kitchen making "birthday cakes" for everyone in the house and wanting us to sing the birthday song over and over.Suremy husband and I are sick of the songs but Blues Clues is positive and encourages learning for kids so I say, deal with it.Repetition is how kids learn, and if she loves it, who cares???I give this one an A+++!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This review is for all the Blue's Clue's series!!!!!
I should give Blue's Clue's BIG credit. Want to know why? Because a while ago I was about 4 or 5 years old. My autistic sister Pamela (Who is a little bit older than me and she's a special needs child) hated drawing and writing. That's a shame for a 9 year old kid to hate drawing and writing! But Blue's Clue's was released and she loved it (or loves it) and because Steve had his handy, dandy notebook, Pamela started to draw pictures just like Steve! Yay!!!!!!
4-0 out of 5 stars BLUES CLUES IS A FAVORITE
I guess we have more Blues Clues videos and DVDs than any other character. He's been a favorite of my son's since before he was one year old.Now he's almost 2 1/2 and has begun to develop more serious tastes. He'll actually watch many more programs geared towards older kids, and even adults, but he still likes his Blues Clues now and then.

Groundbreaking on several counts, not the least of which was aninnovative use of animation and stereophonic sound, this ambitiousDisney feature has lost nothing to time since its release in 1940.Classical music was interpreted by Disney animators, resulting insurreal fantasy and playful escapism. Leopold Stokowski and thePhiladelphia Orchestra provided the music for eight segments by thecomposers Tchaikovsky, Moussorgsky, Stravinsky, Beethoven, Ponchielli,Bach, Dukas, and Schubert. Not all the sequences were created equally, but a few are simply glorious, such as "Night on Bald Mountain," "TheSorcerer's Apprentice," and "The Nutcracker Suite." The animationranges from subtly delicate to fiercely bold. The screen bursts withcolor and action as creatures transmute and convention is thrust aside. The painstaking detail and saturated hues are unique to this film, unmatched even by more advanced technology. 5-0 out of 5 stars ARTISTRY IN ANIMATION, MUSIC &THE COMPUTER ALL PUT TO FANTASTIC EFFECT
IN A NUTSHELL: LET FANTASIA SPEAK FOR ITSELF & IT SPEAKS MAGICALLY
5-0 out of 5 stars Not original but still worth having
Yes it is true that Fantasia has been edited, but that is because Disney had to edit something that by today's standards would be socially unacceptable. for the time the movie was made (1942) it would be a different situation. I agree with their decision to edit those parts out, although you can find the scenes on the internet, and they are interesting to watch, but I can agree that they were edited for good reason. and it is true, just because a movie is edited doesn't mean that those parts weren't there, but if you want to own Fantasia on DVD, then this is worth buying. the only difference from the VHS version to note is, the narration has been re-recorded, and though it is not the original narration, it is still good I only noted 1 or 2 differences in the narration from the original. this is the best (socially acceptable) copy of Fantasia you will ever find, those of you who are looking for the original version (ie 1942) you are out of luck, every re-release of this movie since the 1970's has been edited, and unless you want celluloid film you'll just have to get this.

5-0 out of 5 stars The all-time classic!
Fantasia is the all-time classic animated movie. Where to begin with this one? The animation is incredible, with stunning artwork, effects, and a huge palet of colors. The storytelling is top-notch, with excellent pacing and story development. Using classical music as a storytelling tool is A LOT harder than you may think, and the Disney animators pulled it off brilliantly. Each segment of Fantasia is its own self-contained movie, and each one is a winner. Even the weakest segment (the first one) is still an outstanding example of innovation (jawdropping for the 1940's). Other than the first segment, all stand up perfectly to repeated viewings. Fantasia is an AMAZING movie, which will entertain adults as much as children (a rarity). It is fitting in an ironic way, then, that Fantasia was also Disney's biggest flop when it was released in 1940. Oftentimes truly outstanding works take many years to be be recognized as the masterpieces they are (Wizard Of Oz, Its A Wonderful Life).

5-0 out of 5 stars I can!
Great short film. After watching it, my 2 year old started saying "I can, I can" when he is climbing on the playground. It's got a great message that says believe in yourself even when everyone around you is trying to put you down. I like the music soundtrack a lot too. Overall a great production.

5-0 out of 5 stars Welsh classic
Not many people know this timeless film was made in my homeland and originally dubbed in Welsh. Even now at the age of 18 I look back fondly on the adventures of Tillie the Little Engine that Could. Any adults reading this are encouraged to purchase the English dub as a wonderful conterpart to any of their kids Thomas collections. Trust me, you'll love it.
4-0 out of 5 stars Don't expect the book Do expect fun
My 3 year old loves the video and doesn't seem to mind it isn't the same as his story book. His die hard Mom wishes more of the original story was evident. Some of the embellishments seem unnecessary and harsh like the signal's attitude toward Tillie and the argumentative chicken.I am most disappointed that the helpful clown was turned into a buffoon. A lot of the characters changed and are hard to identify. I do like the Doc who helps Georgia. Editorial Review

Dora's too smart a cookie to leave Santa standard-issue snacks for Christmas. But when he slips through the chimney without spotting his gift, it's up to her and buddies Backpack, Boots, and the trusty Map to battle their way through snow-capped mountains and an icy river to ring his North Pole bell. Even at Christmastime, TV's most intrepid cartoon Latina is no slouch--she takes 2- to 6-year-olds to task on shape identification, Spanish vocabulary, and more during Project Present Drop . With her encouragement, Swiper the Fox surrenders Santa's gift as quickly as he five-fingers it, and elves come caroling when the merry mission's complete. Dora's gift to her devoted play-along-at-home pals is a second episode. In "Rapido, Tico!"the gang tackles land, lake, sky, and snow to reclaim Boots's toy fire truck. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for the babies
My kids have this video and they love it.Especially my daughter. My son still hides away in his bedroom to watch it.Everyone is right about it being one little Christmas episode but it's cute. The only thing I didn't care much for was how Howie Dorough of the Backstreet Boys portrayed Santa Claus. He used the stereotypical "mexican" slang accent and as the mother of half hispanic children, I found it almost offensive.Even my son pointed out that Mexicans don't talk like that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Our 2 year old absolutely adores Dora
Our 2 year old absolutely adores Dora. This Christmas DVD is her favorite and she watches it over and over again all year round. We love the fact that Dora is a positive cartoon female role model for our daughter.
3-0 out of 5 stars Needs More Christmas Episodes
Since this DVD shows a Christnas themed picture on the cover it would have been great to have 4 Christmas themed episodes. All the episodes on this DVD(including the one Christmas episode) have been shown on the Dora TV series. We all know that Dora has a baby brother and sister but since they were first introduced this spring they have only been in 3-4 episodes. The Dora series needs to have some new life breathed into it.Even my 27 month granddaughter is beginning to tire of the same episodes being shown constantly. ... Mi hijo puede pasarse hasta dos horas viendo este video, lo ve una y otra vez y no se cansa.

4-0 out of 5 stars Gotta love Diego!
We were very excited to see that Diego was finally on DVD!My almost-two-year-old loves the TV show and all the animals. He always asks for "Deggo GO!".Dora and Diego are two of the few shows he watches and interacts with.He has actually learned a lot of new words from the show and I like that he answers back when they ask him questions. We've even made "scavenger" hunts around our home using Dora-style maps and hiding stuffed toys for our little Diego to find.Dora and Diego are great!I just wish there were more Diego episodes on the DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Discovery!
My sons, ages 5 and 2.5, have recently discovered Diego, and they are CAPTIVATED! Never huge fans of Dora, we don't watch much Nick Jr., but stumbled upon this one day recently. They love it, it's all they want to watch! My 5- year-old now regurgitates all these exotic animal facts, proudly counts along in Spanish, and packs his own animal "rescue pack" whenever we go somewhere so that he can play Diego.I'm so glad they added Diego-- an energetic and interesting way to get boys more interested! This one's a winner! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Dexter The Boy Genius.
When i first saw this show i loved it. Dexter has a laboratory and his parents don`t even know except his sister Dee Dee. She always like to interrupt while he is working on his laboratory. Every time she see`s a button she always say ooh what does this button do. She is funny to. Mandark , Dexters rival he thinks he `s smarter than him. Dexter is my number one favorite character.

5-0 out of 5 stars "It's Dexter, Dexter, Dexter and Dexter!"
I'm a huge fan of Dexter's Lab. In it's short episodes it manages to make fun of Die Hard, Star Wars, Tron, and even Samurai Flicks. But what happens when you take a show normally dedicated to several short episodes and stretch it out to an hour?5-0 out of 5 stars Dexter @ his best!!!!
I am a HUGE Dexter fan, and I am 30 years old as well. This is without a doubt, the BEST Dexter story ever!!!The only thing wrong is that it's not available on DVD.BUY IT!!!! ... Read more

Editorial Review

The babies are back for three timely tales, one full-length episode and two shorter ones. In "Curse of the Werewuff," Angelica explains Halloween to the little ones, but--as usual--goes too far. They look forward to trick-or-treating but are concerned that whatever they dress up as, they'll "turn into for real." Chuckie doesn't want to be a "werewuff" the rest of his life! The night before the big day, he has a dream about that very thing. In "Ghost Story" the gang gathers to tell campfire stories. Angelica describes a spooky house and the rest join in to finish the tale. By the end, they've scared Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Really fun video
While this video does include an older story or two, the new Halloween one, "The Curse of the Werewuff", certainly makes it worth it.It is a really cute and funny story of Chuckie being Chuckie and afraid of becoming a Werewolf since Angelica told all of them that they would turn into whoever they decided to be for Halloween. My five year old daughter loved this and I must say I enjoyed it, too.It had enough "spooky" elements and it was really funny. There was a "haunted house", a "graveyard", trick or treating and a little twist as well.Well worth buying it and having slumber parties in bed with your kids with the lights out.You will enjoy it, too. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic movie and series for children of any age!!
The entire LBT series, and this movie in particular, deals with issues that all kids, parents and families are faced with on a daily basis (love, friendship, trust, just to name a few). The family issues include single parenting and adoption (both touch my family) and it is a great way for my son to learn that each family is different. In this particular movie, Littlefoot and his friends are dealing with "bullies" and it is a perfect chance for parents and children to discuss how to deal with other children who may not be as nice as they are.My son, who is almost 5, names all dinosaurs after the LBT characters, we have the CD playing in the car most of the time and he watches both of the Singa-a-Long tapes constantly.I know he learns something new each time he watches one of the movies because of the discussions we have.I cannot praise this series enough!!

2-0 out of 5 stars The Time of Great Confusion
I couldn't understand if they were speaking language or else not. Sometimes I lay awake at night and wonder if this is how those graceful creatures spoke to each other. Although this movie was a bit too artsy for me, I still thought it was pretty good even though I couldn't understand what they were saying. Overall, this is my third favorite Land Before Time movie, only the seventh and the ninth are much better. Littlefoot still rules the Jurassic Period.

1-0 out of 5 stars Kids will enjoy it, but might get the wrong message...
I did not like this movie at all, and I have taken it out of our collection and put it in the trash. The only reason that I didn't like this movie is because of the bullies in it that pester Little Foot and his friends. It is negative, and have found my two year old son starting to act out some of the behaviours that the bullies do in this movie.

Editorial Review

When a mail-order apprentice witch (Angela Lansbury) is saddled with three sibling refugees from London during World War II, the outlook is grim. But the kids soon discover her secret and sign on for adventure in the name of England. With the aid of a magical bed, they track down her fraudulent headmaster (David Tomlinson) to find the spell that will aid the Allies. Fascinated that she has actually achieved results with his lessons, he joins forces. The quintet does battle with corrupt booksellers, animated-lion royalty, and, eventually, invading Germans. Songs include Lansbury's Oscar-nominated "The Age of Not Believing." This film is often compared to director Robert Stevenson's earlier effort,
