4-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Childen's Series with 'Peanuts' Characters Created by Minnesotan Charles Schulz
One of 13 kids videos that teach kids
4-0 out of 5 stars Great cartoon! (And educational, too.)
This Is America, Charlie Brown cartoons were very innovative specials that featured the Peanuts characters in important moments in history, and gave kids (as well as parents) a fun insight on how certain histicorial characters (and their influences) came to be. This episode is about the how the Constitution was created, as well as how the legislative, executive and judicial branches affected the delegates. The special mainly revolved around Linus and Peppermint Patty, but the other usual characters were there as well (Schroeder was only in one scene, but he didn't have any line).5-0 out of 5 stars It was good.
My 4 year old and my 6 year old enjoy this tape very much. They have learned much about the Transcontinental Railroad. This video is packed with a lot of facts, but done in a way that the children enjoy watching.I am well pleased that it is a part of our collection. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Collection of three Spooky Disney Shorts
This is a Disney tape with three vintage shorts on it but they are all very good and one is a certified classic and perfect for Halloween. The run time is than a 1/2 hour but I still think it's worth it, if you can still find it that is.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite movies from when I was little!
the first tale in this movie, pluto's judgement day, was always so realistic to me when I was little. I loved these movies and they were really good for any time of the year. Great lessons and great songs in each story. Great for any age child!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite Halloween videos
This is a wonderful little video from Walt Disney Studios. It is a compilation of 3 great classic animated shorts, that fit the theme for Halloween viewing. First up is, "Pluto's Judgment Day", first seen in movie theatres on August 31, 1935. In this cartoon Mickey is mad at his dog Pluto for always chasing cats, this time a poor little kitten, and so Pluto knows he is "in the doghouse". He falls asleep and dreams he is taken to court in an underground cavern for crimes against felines, with cats for prosecutor, judge and jury.It quickly becomes a nightmare as the cats torment Pluto and sentence him. He learns his lesson to say the least. Great imagery and sight gags in this short directed by Dave Hand, the short really showcases the body language personality that an animator can build into an animated character that can't speak. Two of Walt's most famous animators worked on this, Ward Kimball and Fred Moore. There used to be a "Uncle Tom" cat character that has been edited out in recent versions.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Film and Worth the Purchase
This is a great DVD that our son loves to watch. I don't think it is as good as the original but sequels rarely are. It's certainly worth the purchase and has a lot of extras on the disc. I have seen it less expensive in other stores however.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buzz & Woody Are Back
Yes it's true and people didn't think it could be done, Buzz & Woody back for a second adventure. In this film Woody finds out the real reason why he was made, he was a character on a TV show and Woody is one of the last remaining dolls made for that TV show.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent pick for all
Toy Story 2 is just as good as (or even better than) Toy Story 1.Great animation, very funny and teaches valuable lessons without the sadness. Some of the animated movies have scenes that are hard to watch, for example the opening scene in Finding Nemo or the beginning of Tarzan. My son watches those scenes in horror (and so do I).Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 1 have such an original storyline that is so endearing, and it is such a well rounded movie that it is an excellent pick for all.I also like the fact that the toys don't sing and dance as in most animated movies, and yet the music is excellent.I particularly love the song (composer: Randy Newman) when Buzz realizes he is just a toy and can't fly and tries to fly out the window.Me and my son play along to that part! ... This television classic features the Peanuts characters in the story of Charlie Brown's problematic efforts to mount a school Christmas pageant. Everybody's on board: Lucy, Snoopy, Schroeder, Pig-Pen, but the biggest impression is surely made by Linus, who stops the show with his recitation from the gospels of the story of Christ's birth. 5-0 out of 5 stars Duh! Vinci Code
Thirty five years ago when I used to thread the 16mm version through a projector in my 4th grade classroom, I, and my students, thought it was the most entertaing, fascinating film we ever saw. After I stopped teaching, I searched for it for years, just wanting to have it in my collection. I finally found it used, on Amazon, watched it once just to bring back the memories, then put it on my shelf. Then I read The da Vinci Code. I couldn't believe it! All the reference to the golden rectangle, golden ratio, proportions of the pentagram, the Pythagorean Society, and even Disney himself! And to think I was teaching all that to my 9 year olds in the 60's before Dan Brown was even born! A fun video for any math lover.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Greatest Animated Films of All Time
If film makers could figure out how to make a film like "Bambi" every time, the art of film making would be just that; an art."Bambi" is a tale that is for children. However, that tale contains every element present in the life of a typical child: friendship, love, parental protection, loss, fear of the unknown, and, of course, growing up.I am still astonished at how a film that clocks in at 69 minutes can capture the essence of life.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Movie Ever!
They worked very hard on bambi. Its not like the new movies. The animators work hard to make it good.Efforts the key.And the dvd has great bonus features. And the movie itself is way better on dvd.The sound is 5.3.The best sond.Especially when you hae a sterio. They remastered it great. They didnt just rush and put it on.So you would love this movie.Especially on platinum edition. So I highly reccomend Bambi the best Disney film ever.

There is greatness in film that can be discussed, dissected, and talked about late into the night. Then there is genius that is right in front of our faces--we smile at the spell it puts us into and are refreshed, and nary a word needs to be spoken. This kind of entertainment is what they used to call "movie magic," and there is loads of it in this irresistible computer animation feature. Just a picture of these bright toys reawaken the kid in us. Filmmaker John Lasseter thinks of himself as a storyteller first and an animator second, much like another film innovator, Walt Disney.Read more

Disney's first animated feature in CinemaScope is now available in widescreen presentations on video, and it is definitely good to get the whole picture. One of the studio's most original and charming movies, the 1955 film tells the story of a rakish, street-smart dog named Tramp, who helps an aristocratic pooch named Lady out of some trouble and then commences a romance with her. Sweet, funny scenes abound, and the combination of innocence and sophistication would have done well in a live-action picture. Peggy Lee cowrote the songs and provides the voice of the Siamese cats in one of the film's best-known musical sequences. This newly restored version spruces up both sonics and visuals, and a letterbox version is available. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Most Romantic of All Disney Films
I fell in love with this movie when I was little, back in 1955 when "Lady and the Tramp" first came to the theaters, and am probably one of the few who can actually remember seeing the promo show, "The Story of Dogs" on the old Disneyworld TV series from the early 50's.I actually had the rare privildge of being taken twice! To this day, it remains my all-time favorite Disney film, favorite dog film, and continues to charm, amuse, and move me to tears.

5-0 out of 5 stars Could well be the best DVD on the market
Given that the movie is wonderful, perhaps the last of the great Hollywood musicals and a charmer for all generations, this DVD is still remarkably wonderful. Disney has done a clean-up job on the film that makes it shine. The audio is rich and wonderful, including the all-important ORIGINAL stereo soundtrack (feh to multi-channel remixes!). The special features even manage to elucidate the process of filmmaking in manner intriguing to both the cineaste parent and Mary-mad children.
5-0 out of 5 stars thank you, Julie and Dick (and Walt, of course)!
I think I like this movie more now than when I was a kid! And the extra features on this 2-DVD set are absolutely wonderful. Great interviews with Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, one of the Sherman brothers (songwriter), and the girl who played Jane that really show how special the movie-making process was, which then translated to joy on the screen.
5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful story and lovely music
Mary Poppins must be one of the loveliest filming produced by Disney studios. This musical movie is extremely well produced and has outstanding actor work. The scenes are of high quality despite the whole story was filmed indoors. Even the little part of London was reproduced in Disney studio. The music from Sherman brothers is world famous and well known. When you hear the first tunes, you might say: Hey I've heard that somewhere! Having this DVD on your shelf would please both you and your younger fellows. ... Read more

Charlie Brown gets rocks in his trick-or-treat bag, Linus awaits a visitation from the Great Pumpkin in his terribly sincere pumpkin patch (while the adoring little Sally sits tight with him), Snoopy falls asleep, Lucy harasses Schroeder, and Pig-Pen kicks up a dust storm even beneath his costume in this classic television broadcast. Funny stuff, but also graced with Charles Schultz's more poignant and gently satiric themes from the 1960s on the influence of faith, failure, and hope in our lives. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Why is this movie so underrecognized?
I haven't seen this movie in a while, but I absolutely loved it as a child. Just a warning, though: I've never cried so hard at ANY movie. I actually thought my heart would break for these cartoon animals. But while I'm not sure why such tragic moments are necessary for kids to endure (this is why my sister refuses to watch it), it remains one of my favorites from Disney.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Underrated Disney Classic.
The Fox and The Hound was made in a time when Disney animation had lost some of its luster . It was one of the last films of the old guard until the transition to the highly popular animated musical "The Little Mermaid". Probably because of this it was not as highly regarded as many of the early classics and the post Mermaid period.
4-0 out of 5 stars Correct screen ratio! This movie IS FULL FRAME!
O.K. I can answer the many questions about the correct screen ratio of THE FOX AND THE HOUND.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Tale As Old As Time Done Right
Beauty and the Beast may well be the very best animated film Disney ever produced. The characterizations of the leads are great as we have the sweet book loving Belle and the the flawed but totally redeemable "Beast".Gaston and Belle's father are also well drawn and memorable as are the comic relief bearing "enchanted" servants at the castle. There's something for everyone as the story is so romantic it leaves a lot of grown up ladies sighing, the bad guys are not too scary for the little ones and for the rest it is just a great tale.Plus Beauty and the Beast has some of the best songs ever written for a Disney production. No wonder the Broadway musical hasbeen such a hit as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tied for first for best Disney feature
I must've been about 10 when I first saw the Lion King and I was practically floored. Those catchy-for-their-own-good songs, the animation(well, me now talking) and that wildebeast stampede. The other one is Beauty and the Beast which for the life of me I can't remember seeing when I was young yet loved every minute of it. Revisiting it now I still love it and on one hand seeing it as a landmark in Disney's catalogue but also one in a series of films that marked a brief creative comeback.
2-0 out of 5 stars Beauty and the Beast
Yep, Disney animation. All my students see this movie at some point between leaving high school and when I meet them as university students. Sometimes, their Chinese university teachers show it to them in class. So, I thought I'd see why they love it so much. I'm still wondering. This is a two-page short story, not a film. But on the bright side, if you skip all the songs it's under an hour. I've never enjoyed a singing toon in my life. ... Read more

Duchess and her three kittens are enjoying the high life with theirdevoted human mistress until the wicked butler Edgar, with his eyes on a big inheritance, decides to dope them and get them out of the picture. How can these fragile creatures cope in the unfamiliar countryside and the meaner streets of Paris? Only by meeting the irrepressible alley cat O'Malley, a rough diamond with romance in his heart. After they get a taste of the wide dangerous world, he guides them home, and Edgar gets his just desserts at the wrong end of a horse. As always, it's really the voices rather than the animation that are the heart of the Disney magic: Phil Harris is brilliant as O'Malley, Eva Gabor as Duchess is... well... Eva Gabor; but perhaps the most memorable turns are by Pat Buttram and George Lindsay, who turn the old hounds Napoleon and Lafayette into a couple of bumbling Southern-fried rednecks. Their scenes with Edgar, and the musical numbers with Scat Cat and his cool-dude band, are classic. Most striking about seeing Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Colorful Classic !!
This movie is awsome!! The kittens are adorable and the song "Everybody Wants To Be A Cat" is great.I would reccomend this movie to anyone. It is enertaining, excited and funny.GO AHEAD AND BUY IT!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Everybody Wants To Be A Cat
Plot in a nutshell - Duchess (voice of Eva Gabor) is the well polished single mother cat of three little kittens. When their owner, the wealthy elderly woman known as Madame Adelaide, realizes that her time is running out she decides to write up her will, leaving everything she has to her cats, which will then go to her butler Edgar when the cats pass on. Edgar overhears this and is deeply offended by the idea that the cats would get everything before him, and plots to destroy Duchess and her kittens; he drops sleeping pills in their supper one night and then leaves them stranded in the French countryside. Out of their element, Duchess and her kittens befriend a street smart stray cat known as Thomas O'Malley (voice of Phil Harris who did the voice of the big bear Balloo in the Jungle Book); after making a pass at Duchess, unaware that she is a single mother, O'Malley decides to escort them back home, with Duchess genuinely falling for O'Malley as the usual codependent surrogate family bond develops; chaos and mayhem ensues, culminating in a violent clash between O'Malley, his brother cats from the streets and Edgar. Also features appearances by British geese, American southern hound dogs (what they were doing in France is anyone's guess), a mouse who sounds a lot like the rabbit from "Alice In Wonderland" (he was in fact voiced by the same guy who voiced Winnie the Pooh) and a horse.
3-0 out of 5 stars "A lady does not start fights, but she can finish though."
I love cats. Well, most cats at least. I'm not too fond of scary looking cats that come in my yard. Anyway, I have one named Abner that looks just like the dark gray kitten in the movie. This film is about cats and there are several adorable scenes. I especially love the scenes at the beginning when the cats are at home painting and singing and playing the piano. They're so adorable! It doesn't matter that they're animated.

I have to say that I am usually not a big fan of animated films. Sure they are great for kids but....

5-0 out of 5 stars AN ARTISTIC TRIUMPH
unless u count the Phil Collins songs.... Well they are forgettable indeed and an intrusion at times. This movie didn`t need songs....
3-0 out of 5 stars I Like The Movie But..
The actual DVD sucks. The menu is unimpressive and for some reason, there is like 10 minutes of advertising from Disney. The extras are boring too. I don't want to see a Phil Collins music video! I likethe movie. It is funny and visually beautiful. The start is sad, but not as sad as Finding Nemo (a movie that I adore to no end!) As a Disney movie, it is a bit grown up for kids as there are guns and deaths. But hey, I know people who let children watch worse stuff than that, so I'm not complaining. In the end, the movie is watchable, but the DVD blows and isn't wirth the money. By the way, I'm not saying that Tarzan isn't good. Amazon tells us to review the PRODUCT as well as the movie. The movie gets a four from me and the DVD gets a minus ten.

5-0 out of 5 stars Behold the Legend of Tarzan...
After churning out less than stellar animation over the last few years, yet still creating hits at the box office, it's nice to go back and watch some of the other films that Disney Studios has made when they used a more elegant, and classy character design. One of the films they used their classic design for was a new interpretation of Edgar Rice Burroughs's literary classic "Tarzan".

Editorial Review

A minor classic from Disney, this 1973 all-animal, all-animated musicalversion of the familiar story is more charming than one might expect. Perhapsit's the warm, chummy take on key relationships within the legend--the way RobinHood (Brian Bedford) gets twitterpated whenever the subject of Maid Marian(Monica Evans) comes up or the way best pal Little John (Phil Harris voicing avariation on his own Baloo from Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Clever Cartoon Version of the Classic
There have been dozens of movies and television shows that capitalize on the legend of Robin Hood. This version is clever and funny, and the music of country music legend Roger Miller makes this movie one for everyone to watch.
4-0 out of 5 stars Robin Hood (Disney Classic)
Its just one of those movies you like to have in your library and I love good old classic cartoon movies.Such a fun movie to watch and enjoy with the family.

4-0 out of 5 stars One of My Favorite Disney Characters
This movie was my all-time favorite when I was little. And Robin Hood was definitely my all-time favorite Disney character. I remember how I'd sit at the kitchen table and draw countless pictures of Robin Hood, and how I'd sit in front of our family computer and write stories involving Robin Hood.
