4-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and a great addition to your Halloween Holiday movie collection!
Anyone familiar with Mickey's House of Mouse will recognize the formula for this movie. The villians come into the House of Mouse and everyone is treated to Halloween movies, until the time comes for the villians to take over Mickey's place! While some of the vignettes aren't really Halloween oriented they are still enjoyable, and certainly the addtion of such classics as: "Trick or Treat" and "Lonesome Ghosts" will be a joy for any true Diseny Fan.Some parts might be a little scary for sensitive or small children, but otherwise it is a lighthearted entertaining Halloween Treat!

5-0 out of 5 stars great for halloween

5-0 out of 5 stars I don't why I waited so long to review this!
First and foremost, as all of the other recent reviewers have mentioned: this Garfield special is now on a Holiday Celebrations DVD with two others. I own a vast collection of Garfield VHS tapes and I'm probably going to make the switch to DVD in the near future.
4-0 out of 5 stars I'm Pleased That This And The Other Garfield Holiday Cartoons Are Finally On DVD!
A Garfield Christmas is not my all time favorite Christmas special but I do like it a lot and think it's cute and charming and I enjoyed watching how Garfield goes from being so greedy by just wanting every thing given to him to his realizing how nice and rewarding it is to also give gifts to others, All the characters are great, Garfield, Odie, Jon, the parents, the dorky brother and the kooky grandma. I'm very pleased that this has finally been put on DVD along with the other Garfield Holiday Specials.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT SPECIAL NOW ON DVD!
As another reviewer pointed out, this wonderful special is now on DVD under the name of Garfield's Holiday Celebrations which collect a Garfield Halloween, Thankgiving, and Christmas into one great DVD.Awesome because this is a very good special that up until last year you could only see if you happened to find a copy on VHS somewhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars Experimental animation at it's very best!!
At first glance, this movie looks like typical children's fare. Toys come to life, musical numbers every five seconds, and then, you get to Mr. Greedy and things get wonderfully weird!!! I remember renting this video and watching it countless times with my sister as a child. I loved the songs, to be sure, like the Camel's signature lament about how it feels to be a discarded toy. But, the best part was always the wickedly weird animation. For cartoon buffs and animation students, this film is an ultimate must-see. If you can find it cheap at a garage sale or a library book sale, buy immediately and don't look back!! This may not be your "normal" animated film, but it rocks!! there is a similar film out there called "Arabian Nights" or something like that that came out in the nineties, so check that one out too, definitely!! SEE THIS FILM!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Scary!
Hi. My mom loved this as a kid, so she thought I would like it, but I think it's scary, and gives me nightmares. Mostly because of that camel that needs to be in a mental hospital, and that pirate that has bouncy pants when he sings. ONLY give this to idiots!

5-0 out of 5 stars Raggedy ann & andy: a musical adventure
Fantastic, beautifully done animated feature. This one was directed by Richard Williams who was also behind "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?".This film was originally filmed/created in widescreen format. Some of the best animators of the 70's worked on it.It would make a terrific DVD!Loved this one as a kid and now all my little nieces and nephews love it too!HIGHLY recommended! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Our Christmas Tradition
I've loved Emmet Otter since I was little, and now this video has become a Christmas tradition for my family.I do miss Ma telling Mrs. Fox to fall off the dock, and I don't care for how they show more acts at the talent contest. But most everything I really love about this movie is still here. The songs are so catchy and fun, and we have them all memorized. The characters' voices are so gentle (aside from the Riverbottom Nightmare Band). But most importantly, the story teaches little ones about the true meaning of Christmas and giving. This movie definately isn't just for kids, and I highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars two versions; but i want the one i remember!
Childhood delivered many treasures, among them the beloved Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas, which was (in my childhood) shown on HBO annually. My brother and I adored this story in which two otters (a mother and son) each sacrifice something that is not only important to but necessary to the livelihood of the other in order to give her/him something s/he truly wants for Christmas. Unfortunately, the sacrifice proves to be for nothing, but both forgive each other and also praise the value of having the courage to take a risk. It turns out that all is NOT lost for this pair, and they manage to "win" something possibly even better in the end than what they were hoping for.
5-0 out of 5 stars Emmet Otters JugBand Christmas
This is a great classic that I watch with my children every Christmas eve. It shows the true meaning of love. I also would like to say that I bought mine 2 years ago in a mall at one of the movies stores and only paid 19.99 for a brand new one on DVD. So please do not try to rip people off it is a horrible thing to do. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Barbie Rocks
This is a really good movie and a good adaptation. The dialogue, the music, the animation, everything is just great. Children will enjoy it (ask me) and they'll keep repeating it over and over again. Analiesse, the princess, is kidnapped, and Erika, a peasnt who looks just like her, is brought to the royal palace to replace her. The story gets more exciting as the events proceed, especially when the king of a neighbouring country asks for the hand of "Analiesse" and falls in love with her. A must see.

Littlefoot hears the story of a legendary dinosaur that defended theland years before and ispraised by the mysterious land form known as Saurus Rock. When a strangebrontosaurus namedDoc wanders through town, Littlefoot is convinced he is the legend. Same oldfare: earthshakes, mean old "sharptooths" (T-Rexes), lots of screaming, and a lesson learned. Onlythree songs. Thebiggest surprise is Kris Kristofferson as the voice of Doc. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This one is my kids' favorite of the series
We own probably 8-9 of the Land Before Time series and without question this is the volume that my 3 year old boy will play the most often. His older cousin's mom told me this was her daughter's favorite also.I think kids like the character, Doc, a "long neck" with a John Wayne attitude. The young dinosaurs believe that Doc may be the legendary long neck who long ago defeated a T-Rex and saved the other dinosaurs in the valley.Kids also seem to like the songs in this movie, which are definitely a step up from many of the others. If you're looking to only get a couple from the series, I would recommend the first movie and this one.

A good wizard finds his magical powers diminishing as this Rankin/Bass production based on the Peter Dickinson novel opens. His nemesis, the evil Ommadon (voiced by James Earl Jones at his deepest and scariest), swiftly takes advantage of the situation. Who will save the world? Why, none other than a young scientist-novelist-game inventor, named Peter Dickenson (mildly voiced by John Ritter), who is zapped from the future back into the time of dragons. Populating this Japanese-animation fantasy film are the titular fire-breathing dragons, the wizards, a knight, a maiden, some elves, and--in a feminist departure from tradition--a heroic bowwoman. The battles are fairly mild and most of the virtuous characters recover, making this a good choice for family viewing, as well as a staple for the fantasy fanatic's video library.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Release a DVD already!!!!!
I haved loved this movie ever since I was a child.Unfortunately it's cover has never done this movie justice, the animation is so detailed, very much like the style of the movie The Hobbit. This is such a classic that it would be both a shame and a loss to future generations if this story was not rereleased to DVD.The dragons are depicted as intellegent magestic beings with personalities instead of 2 demensional snarling & preditory creatures (well most of them anyway). I think this was one of the 1st projects to approach Dragons this way, paving a way for movies like Dragonheart. It also tries to shed some light on dragon issues like breathing fire and flight. This is a truly beautiful story.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Treasure
I watched this as a child, and came upon it by accident on YouTube. It's an amazing under-rated movie--especially considering all the commercial garbage that came out in the 80s. The animation is interesting, though nothing near the quality of today--but compared to other things from the 80s it kicked [...](and the silly cover does it NO justice--btw).
5-0 out of 5 stars DVD! DVD! DVD! DVD!
I will have to agree wholeheartedly that Flight of Dragons was (and still is)my favorite childhood movie. In the 80's, my parents searched far and wide for this movie- and paid like $40 dollars for the VHS, which actually is misprinted as BETA. That was quite possibly my best Christmas present in memory. Now, at 25 years of age, I still LOVE this movie, although I only watch it a few times a year in fear that the tape will wear out. It is a tragedy that this movie has not yet been released on DVD. I had no idea that this movie touched so many people, which is all the more reason to release it on DVD. "...Is it the past I seek, when I look up to the heavens, believing in the magic that I know could never be. I want to go where they are goin, into the world they've been, can I open up my mind enough to see...Flight of Dragons..." ON DVD! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Chariots of Fur in DVD, pleeeeease!!!
HeyMr. WARNER, what's about a 2-DVD-set with ALL the "Modern Looney Tunes Shorts" from 1987 to 2004???:
5-0 out of 5 stars Good collection.
This is a great collection of Looney Tunes made by The Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. It includes the brand new cartoon, CHARIOTS OF FUR (1994) which suprisingly turned out to be a great cartoon, unlike CARROTBLANCA. This collection also includes 5 more cartoons. This includes OPERATION RABBIT (1951), one of five cartoons made with Bugs Bunny and Wile E. Coyote. Interestingly, this was made before BEEP, BEEP (1952), the second Road Runner cartoon ever. It basically uses the Coyote from FAST AND FURRY-OUS (1949). READY, WOOLEN, AND ABLE (1960) is the best cartoon starring Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheep Dog. I guess this is on this tape because Ralph Wolf is a form of Wile E. BEEP BEEP & HOOK, LINE, AND STINKER (1958) are also great cartoons. ZIP 'N' SNORT (1961) is the second best Road Runner cartoon ever, next to TO BEEP OR NOT TO BEEP (1963) of course. The only complaint I have is that other than the brand new cartoon, the other five are on ROAD RUNNER VS. WILE E. COYOTE: THE CLASSIC CHASE. But if you want ... better quality, buy this!

2-0 out of 5 stars Beep Beep
Chuck Jones continues to entertain new audiences with the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. Chariots of fur is an blend of his final cartoon with the duo. I found it to be very exciting. If you have Road Runner vs. Wile E. Coyote The Classic Chase from Warner Bros. Golden Jubiliee 24 Karat collection, this video might not be for you. The other five cartoons actually appear on that video; Zip N' Snort, Operation: Rabbit, Hook, Line and Stinker, Beep Beep, and Ready, Woolen and Able. Otherwise this is an very nice cartoon video collection for kids of all ages. ... Read more

How wonderful it is to be able to experience what is surely a cherished family classic for a generation of people from another country. This version of "My Neighbor Totoro" features excellent video quality as well as a very well done English audio track for those who wish to avoid reading subtitles.
1-0 out of 5 stars New Voice and Sound Tracks!
I was very displeased with the newest version of Totoro. With Dakota and Elle Fannings voices, as well as all the other new voices, made the movie sound horrible and very unlike the original version of Totoro! The newest version could never be compared to the original version! The original version of Totoro should have never been fixed and it will ALWAYS be better than the newest version! I couldn't even get through the first disc, without hearing the new annoying voice sound tracts! VERY DISSAPOINTING! What a waste of money... ... Read more

I remember loving it more than the fox and the hound.I have just spent an hour searching the internet for what it was called, and here i am!!! i bought it just now and i hope that it's all i remembered it to be!!! (that just shows what an impression it made, since i was like 5 when i saw it!)

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite kids' movie
I first saw this movie when I was about 5 years old (I am now 19). I watched it again and again, and I have loved foxes and nature tales ever since. It is a story with powerful emotion, and the "cuteness" appeal of it does not detract from the powerful nature/life/coming of age themes. (It simply makes it accessible to a younger audience.) The tale brings nature to screen in a strong, moving, enjoyable way that both adults and children can relate to in a healthy way.

My daycare provider has used this tape in her home for years. When she puts the movie on, the children literally go crazy w/ joy and excitement, as they love this movie. They jump up and down with excitement and request to see the movie repeatedly. All of the parents ordered tapes just to have them at home, because it's such a great movie. Very fun, educational and enjoyable for the kids. Not violent at all, a good buy for sure.My daughter is 2 yrs old and it's her favorite tape in the world.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not good enough 2 b a sing-along song!
My baby brother thinks this is a good movie, but that's because he's a baby. Real sing-along songs play different songs from different movies, and Pongo & Perdita doesn't even have that "bouncing ball" that every other Sing-along songs tape has. All it is, is a grown-up singing songs with her dogs and a bunch of kids. That movie reminds me more of "Kidsongs."

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best in the series!
We own about 15 of the Scholastic Video DVDs, and have owned 11 of those for almost a year. This was one of the new releases and is our absolute favorite of the new ones so far. My son is 4.5 and my class of 3 year olds also adored it. My former kindergarten class would still love it as first graders.

We own every Scholastic Video in the series & we think this is one of the best! These "stories that sing" are very catchy. My kids love to run around the coffee table (their form of dancing) to "There Was an Old Lady..."I admit when I first watched from afar the second story "Antarctic Antics", I thought the illustrations were kinda boring, just because I am not a huge fan of penguins...but since my kids request this one ALL the time, I have since grown to LOVE it.You are walked thru the life of a penguin. It is educational, but very entertaining with very funny lyrics like..."Antarctica, you'd better bring your partika"I find myself singing this often :)Lots of talented singers to be enjoyed (including singer from the Mavericks.)We love the bonus stories also (only on the DVD version.)Favorite author Lois Ehlert's "Waiting for Wings" is FABULOUS, I mean truly FABULOUS!!!This one is a winner.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not up to Scholastic Video Collection Standards
Let me start out by saying we have a few DVDs from the Scholastic Video Collection and my family really likes them, especially "Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom" and "Where the Wild Things Are."

Editorial Review

This sweet, heartwarming 1973 offering from the Peanuts gang (and Charles Schultz) once again shows Charlie Brown in a pickle, as his erstwhile friends impose upon the hapless would-be-host to provide a memorable and traditional Thanksgiving feast. And as much as Charlie Brown would rather forget the whole thing, he just can't help but try for fear of being labeled a failure. Ultimately it's up to Snoopy and Woodstock to save Charlie from certain embarrassment, and it falls to Linus to impart to all assembled the true meaning of Thanksgiving. This very special Emmy Award-winning cartoon features the usual sweet unassuming humor that only the Peanuts can provide, along with the melodic Vince Guaraldi score, and is one of those childhood classics meant to be enjoyed again and again. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Special!!
Not quite as good as the Christmas and Halloween Specials, but still one of our favorites. The "Mayflower Voyage" bonus on the DVD is wonderful!!It is an historically accurate version of the Mayflower voyage that appeals to children because it retains the charm of the Peanuts characters without being too "cutesy."My second grade twins studied the pilgrims this year and I offered to share our DVD with their teachers. They had never heard of it before but they absolutetly loved it because it fit right into what the children were learning in the classroom. The Mayflower Voyage ended up being shown in virturally all of the primary grade classrooms in November.I am buying them their own copy to use next year!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Fun!!
I have to say that this is a Thanksgiving tradition where we watch this on TV and I just bought the DVD and we can watch it on our own time during the thanksgiving season.I love it when snoopy is cooking the thanksgiving dinner and get into a fight with the law chair. The bonus feature "The Mayflower Voyage" is educational but boring.I still give it 5 stars

5-0 out of 5 stars Peppermint Patty needs a smack in the mouth.
Who the heck does she think she is? First she invites herself over to Charlie Brown's house for Thanksgiving, then she invites her girlfriend and Franklin too! What's up with that? Of course Chuck has no backbone and agrees to everything even though all he can make is popcorn and toast. Well thank God Snoopy comes to the rescue. Sure he gets in a fight with a lawn chair, but he gets the place set up.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Hey Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiids!" this one's a classic!
This is one of the best cartoon specials I can remember from the 80s. We taped it from TV, along with the Christmas, Hollywood, and In the Rough/Camping specials. But it got so worn out and then we couldn't find it, so I found a dvd of the holiday ones on ebay. I still remember most of the songs and sing along.
4-0 out of 5 stars It's Finally On DVD Along With Other Garfield Holiday Cartoons!
I like the Garfield Halloween cartoon special and I like it just as much as the Charlie Brown Halloween cartoon special and I'm very glad that this is finally on DVD along with some other Garfield Holiday specias. This Halloween special is very cute!

5-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST HALLOWEEN TOONS EVER!
Until this was recently released on DVD as part of the Garfield Holiday Celebrations, the only way to see this was if you had owned in on VHS since they don't show this one on TV anyore. That's such a shame as this is one fantastic Halloween special. It originally appeared on CBS in 1985.Garfield and Odie go trick or treating and wind up in a real haunted house..much to their horror.Lorenzo Music was hilarious as Garfield and Tom Huge was fantastic as John and Binky the Clown. If you love the season of Halloween and autumn time then this is the perfect animated feature to watch. What a treat that this is now on DVD. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars PRETTY INEFFECTIVE TOON
Not even a score by Gramsy winner Barry Manilow can save this poorly executed animated film.Manilow's songs aren't that memorable and there's too many of them. The story, as thin as spring ice, focuses on Hubie, a stuttering penguin overdone by Martin Short, who has fallen for Marina, a doe eyed penguin whom he wants to present with his pebble on mating day.Of course, Marina is eyed by the loutish brute Drake (Tim Curry) who will do anything to secure her bliss.Hubie is mistakenly thought dead courtesy of the deadly leopard seal but he has merely been whisked away by penguin hunters who want to sell him to the zoo.He manages to escape with tough guy penguin Rocko (James Belushi) and begins a sojourn home to save Marina from Drake's paws.I'm not sure kids will even find themselves able to sit through this hokey and dull cartoon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Goodness Glaciers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know why everybody is saying how bad this film is. When I watched this as a kid (and I still do, apparently!), I fell in love with this movie as well as all of the other Don Bluth films of the 90s (Thumbelina, Rock-A-Doodle, A Troll in Central Park) that weren't smash hits at the box office like his first films. This story is funny, romantic, musically fun, and a whole lot more.
1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible animation
The biggest problem with this movie is the animation. The evil leopard seals, which eat the penguins, are huge. The penguins are smaller than their mouths. Then cut to a scene in the ship Misery where the penguins are one third the size of a human.Which basically means that compared to humans these sea lions are the size of an 8 story building.Fast forward to the scene with the submarine and the leopard seals are normal size.Another stupid thing about this movie is that Rocco the penguin flies.Yeah it's a kids movie, and yeah it was his dream to want to fly, but when he flies to catch hubey and marina he doesn't move his wings. He does this quasi-superman move because he catches them with his hands as they fall off a cliff and then ascends into the sky on will alone. It was very melo-dramatic.I can't think of a worse movie at this time. The reason it got one star is because there are a handful of funny one liners from Rocco. ... THIS IS A MUST HAVE for a THOMAS LOVING kid.My son can not get enough of this video.I, myself, am getting a little tired of hearing these songs as they are playing over and over in my head at all times.BUT, my son is in love with them.He has been watching this video religiously since 1 1/2 and has not grown tired of them yet.

(story for this and next.)a v.i.p(very important person)was expetad to the island of sodor.unfotitly Godon thinks that the v.i.p's dog is a gremlin.trucks was cool but only tell peter sam(stuart).
