Every day is friday when you have no job...funny good make you have a good laugh at the end of the day

5-0 out of 5 stars Friday
Looking forward to watching this movie.Rated R for pervasive strong language and drug use,and for a brutal fight.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worse than Bad
This movie is silly at best, racist at worse. I can't believe Ice Cube actually wrote the script for this mess. My opinion of Ice Cube has been drastically lowered. It's the old black jiving and shucking all over again. This movie has all the classic black stereotypes. It even has a scene where Smokey gets so high that he ends up in the chicken coop thinking he's a chicken. Remember the old minstrel shows?: "nobody in here but us chickens." There's noplot to speak of, just a bunch of insults, getting high, stealing money, potty jokes, black people knocking each other upside the head. Some character get punched out, and Smokey (Chris Tucker) goes over and yells in his face, "Dude, you been knocked out!" That's a typical "joke" from this movie. How about a dogcatcher getting bit on his behind by a dog? Hilarious---Not. After watching this dvd with my family, we tried to think of one funny or worthwhile scene, and we couldn't think of a single one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Timeless Comedy
I was barely 3 when this movie came out. But all my friends with families told me I absolutely must watch it. This is something every parent can relate too. You can watch with any crowd, even 20-somethings without kids are doubled over laughing.
5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Cosby, Classic Comedy!
This is Cosby at his best.I don't know anyone who has NOT seen this standup show.DVD is a blessing as to keep this masterpiece for a very long time.Show the family, and generations of kids. It's clean, and timeless. You'll laugh, and laugh, and relate, weather your children, adults, or grandparents. And as you grow older like I have, you enjoy the stories more and more!

5-0 out of 5 stars A True Classic
My god. I swear that I'm amazed that so many other people who were kids back in the '80s memorized "The Dentist" routine. I had that one down PAT back in the summer of '84. This is probably my all-time favorite Bill Cosby stand-up/sit-down act.

4-0 out of 5 stars It made me laugh
I don't really understand the negative reviews that i'm seeing of this movie, Don't Be A Menace... is what it is, and that is a parody of all the early 90's hood films (of which I am a big fan of). It's like the people knocking it haven't actually seen the films they're taking the p*ss out of, if you've seen Boyz N The Hood and Menace II Society and you have a sense of humour you'll probably find this funny. Some have criticised the lack of a plot but they are completely missing the point, it's a parody of several films, therefore it cuts from scenes of different films, i mean the plot is always going to be secondary to the jokes.I would say though in order to really enjoy this film you MUST have seen at least Boyz N The Hood & Menace II Society as most of the jokes come from these films.

Wu-Tang_Assassin is patently an idiot. I also assume that the person purporting to be A Kid's Review wrote his review as some sort of a joke. Punctuation must be something that just happens to other people

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in The Hood
This movie is definately one of the funniest movies ive ever seen. The jokes are lame, yes but that doesnt make the movie stupid. The jokes are so stupid, that it makes the movie hilarious. Like the part when the grandma is smoking weed, that part was funny. This movie isnt necessarily funny, its stupid funny. But its hilarious. Every part, from beggining to end. I recommend this movie to any who loves comedy, and likes these actors. Its definately worth the watch. Its real funny. ... Read more

I don't know why anyone would be offended by anything on this program. If you get offended by any joke here, you're TOO SENSITIVE, LIGHTEN UP, LAUGH BEFORE YOU FREEZE YOURSELF TOO DEATH, AND BUY THIS DVD.Besides Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Chris Rock, and Bill Maher, the spirit of this type comedy knows unparalleled genius for its refusal to compromise.Today's comics take note:this is the formula, not your overly safe filler. Can we get a return to honest to life comedy?

4-0 out of 5 stars "Are We There Yet" gets $18 million, but THIS BOMBS???
They're essentially the same movie, only "Bebe's Kids" is actually funny.Faizon Love's voice, as Robin Harris, is spot-on (a bit eerie, in fact), and the story is told part cartoony / part naturally. From Bruce Smith, the creator of Disney's "The Proud Family", it contains a few rap-music numbers ("He Ain't Havin' It" being the best) that threaten to derail the story, but they're brief enough to ignore.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great comedy
A great animated movie with a very familier voice Robbin Harris. The way he becomes a father figure to the children creates a great overall comedy for the whole family.

5-0 out of 5 stars Larry The Cable Guy funnier than Richard Pryor? Never.
I must first preface my comments by saying that I think Larry the Cable Guy is funny guy, but he is no Richard Pryor. I am a white anglo-saxon who thinks that Richard Pryor was one of the most funny people who ever lived, and if you asked Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, or Ron White who was the better comedian I think they would all pick Richard Pryor because Rich could find humor in the most unlikeliest sources, whereas Larry is rather obvious in his basis for humor.Good though, but not as profound as Richard Pryor. This along with the other two Richard Pryor stand up films should be the proof of what a comedian is all about. Yes, Rich used rough language, but listen to words between the cuss words, he was a very smart comic who had all the ablities needed to be the legend he was.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Classic in Live Comedy
omgosh, I can't believe some one said the cable guy is funnier than Richard Pryor.. this country is definately going to hell in a handbasket! LOL!!!!!
5-0 out of 5 stars His funniest work
I bought this as part of a two-pack with Dave Chappelle. Unfortunately, I watched Pryor first. It was so funny with almost constant laughter, that it ruined the Chappelle DVD for me. Chappelle (who is great on his TV show), just fell flat after watching the Pryor DVD. If you buy the two-pack, watch Chappellle as the "opening act," maybe it'll seem funny that way. But definitely save Pryor as the "headline" act & watch it last, he just can't be beat. Pryor was a real innovator, funny, insightful, honest, & what a great job he did here! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars If you take is seriously then you're totally missing the point!
A Low Down Dirty Shame is really no more than all the most familiar Cop movie clichs arranged in an order that makes a barely cohesive story. But it's all the fun and silly action that occurs in between that really matters! It's a bit like The Last Boy Scout from a spoof-blaxploitation angle.

It's party time, but Kid (Christopher Reid) has been grounded by his strict but loving dad (Robin Harris). His best friend, Play (Christopher Martin), however, cooks up a scheme to sneak him out of the house so he can hook up with his honey at a buddy's house, where it's all going on. Rappers Kid 'N Play are engaging and funny--and entertaining rappers when they get the chance. The real find was comic Robin Harris, hilarious in his own right and solid in this role--but he died a short time later. Look for Martin Lawrence in one of his first film roles as well. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This film stands the test of time!
I am not ashamed to admit that I was 26 years old when this movie first came out...and I loved it!I still love this movie...especially knowing that many of the actors were my age when they were filming!
3-0 out of 5 stars Wave your hands in the air, everybody!
I am not ashamed to say that this was not a horrible film.Upon finishing this film, I did a bit of research on it and discovered that this pioneer film (prior to the sequels) was actually a favorite among Sundance goers in 1990.Apparently it racked up quite a bit of awards in the "drama" category. While I must say that it was enjoyable to go back to this type of cinema, you know, the parents are away so the kids will play scenario, but I didn't think this was the best this genre had to offer.Director Reginald Hudlin created this film for his thesis at Harvard as well as a benchmark for DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Price, so how did he finally end up with Kid & Play? While I did think that Kid did a decent job with his character, which couldn't have been too far from himself, Play offered nothing new to the film.Martin Lawrence continued to be the most annoying character in the film, while the love interests were clichd from the start. The music was fun, the dancing was laughable, and the police officers were racist ... so does that make for Sundance winning cinema?Personally, there were elements that needed tightened and some that were great the way they were.It wasn't the best film, but House Party did provide for an hour and a half of dusty memories.
4-0 out of 5 stars And what a party
This movie is hilarious, I would suggest for anyone who loves comedy and originality to be buy the 1st three of House Party.

1-0 out of 5 stars WHY GOD WHY???!
This isn't even interesting enough to be offensive. If this is the "male agenda" I keep hearing about in the media, maybe it's a good idea to perpetuate the cruel stereotypes of men so prevelant in the past 20 years or so. I can honestly say that as a male, my point of view is nothing like these guys'. When will words like "decency" or "dignity" or principles like "self-respect" begin to mean something to people again? In this age of fatherless/motherless children, AIDS, and other sex-related dangers it's hard to believe that anyone would worry him/herself with a contest to see how many people one can have sexual intercourse with; but then I guess some will never learn. Too bad for them, and for the rest of us who have to watch this garbage. Millions of dollars to make a movie, and this is what they come up with. The mind boggles. (...)

After seeing this movie I put into action a lot of what the hero did. I got to sleep with 27 woman over the next 5 months, not incredible but still a lot of fun.

3-0 out of 5 stars Simply wasted potential
Strange movie. I find it both incredibly stupid and yet entertaining. I dont mean stupid in a campy fun way. I mean "What lame brained idiot wrote this?!?" kind of stupid. If it weren't for such a large array of a very talented all-star cast this movie would have no hope whatsoever. I do admit, as stupid Meteor Man was I actually enjoyed some parts of it very much.
5-0 out of 5 stars A funny and sincere classic
Meteor Man is sort of a comedy but it teaches you lessons as well. This is a great movie to show to older kids. While trying to be funny it puts across messages that should be taken in and followed. Now maybe people hate the movie because of Robert Townsend's attempt of a wacky super hero or maybe it's just because they have no imagination and can't get on his level.
3-0 out of 5 stars Funny Cult Classic
I thought it was funny when I first saw it back in the 90's and I baught it two weeks ago. RT reminds me of Eddie Murphy in his role as Meteor Man. You have to be open to this kind of humor to enjoy it. The special effects are good as well. Worth a look. ... Read more

The plotline may sound familiar: Two mismatched cops are assigned as reluctant partners to solve a crime. Culturally they are complete opposites, and they quickly realize they can't stand each other. One (Jackie Chan) believes in doing things by the book. He is a man with integrity and nerves of steel. The other (Chris Tucker) is an amiable rebel who can't stand authority figures. He's a man who has to do everything on his own, much to the displeasure of his superior officer, who in turn thinks this cop is a loose cannon but tolerates him because he gets the job done. 5-0 out of 5 stars A good, funny, action packed movie.
I love this movie.I didn't know how it would be at first.Mainly because of the huge difference in the two actors.Well after watching I realized that the two are perfect together. One plays a serious cop whos only goal is to solve the crime that has been committed. While the other is a cool, slick cop who likes women and having a good time.At first neither really gets along and they don't know how to act around each other. After a while of being together though this changes and they are both trying to solve the crime while having a bit of fun at the same time. This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time so I would say try it out.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not as funny as you might guess
Though I'd never seen the show, I ordered volume 2 because Chris Rock is the funniest man in the world. I was really disappointed. It's nothing like his stand-up. It's just a not-great sketch show. I laugh more during any given episode of SNL. The taxi cab confessions stuff is pretty good. Not worth owning.

1-0 out of 5 stars Chris Rock is Much Funnier Than This DVD Shows
Some people are more suited for sketch comedy while others are better at standup. Chris Rock is definitely a standup comedian. Be forewarned that this is a collection of moments from his HBO show and not a standup set. These sketches are not very funny nor are they original.

5-0 out of 5 stars Never seen an episode
I was in for a treat. This was all new Chris Rock for me.And I ate it up. Editorial Review

Chris Rock lives up to his reputation on this second collection of sketches and parodies from his HBO series--he is not only funny, he has a genuine political edge, pointing up contradictions and racial tension in American society. His material ranges from mock investigative reports (including an exposé of racist toys like "Mr. Sweet Potato Head" and "Low Expectations Scrabble") to commercial parodies (such as ads for the Malcolm X Games--"Because being extreme isn't just for white devils anymore"). But his best work has got to be his genuine on-the-street interviews, in which he asks men at boxing gyms to name their favorite white fighter or asks random New Yorkers if black people should receive reparations for slavery. He even goes down to South Carolina to talk to residents about why the Confederate flag flies over the state capitol; he finally gets a number of people on the street to agree to a different flag that replaces the stars in the Confederate flag with the stars of the WB (like Brandy and Robert Townsend). What people are willing to say in front of him is both funny and frightening. Chris Rock makes cutting-edge comedy seem simple; after an hour of this show, it's incomprehensible why Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not nearly as funny as volume 1
This is my 2nd review in seven years. I bought this because of the almost 5 star rating. I loved volume 1 and thought this would be even better. The only things really funny were the racist toys, Mike Tyson for president (10 seconds long?), what not to do when getting pulled over by a cop and the taxi cab confessions. The confessions are a 30 minute video extra; otherwise this DVD would have nothing on it. It's a long hour when you hardly laugh. And what happened to Wanda Sykes?? She was hilarious in the 1st volume. If I had to do this again I'd buy only volume 1.

5-0 out of 5 stars ...Chris Rock Show, Priceless.
If you think Chappelle's Show is funny and you haven't seen the Chris Rock Show, you are in for a treat. You telling me you haven't seen the ORIGINAL Pootie Tang interview? Hilarious. Chris Rock's comedy is some of the best. A lot of Chappelle's Show skits aren't as up to par as some of the stuff on here. Chris Rock is one of the greatest comedians alive. I love this show. I wish they would continue making more seasons of this show. I would also recommend the FDTV: Volume One DVD. It has a different style of comedy blends that Chris Rock and Chappelle's Show doesn't have. As far as this DVD goes, BUY SEASON 1 & SEASON 2 of the Chris Rock Show. This stuff is classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Until season release sets come about, this one's it.
The first Best-Of had some great skits, but having now seen volume 2, I know there's MUCH MORE out there that deserves to be released as well!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! Misunderstood! Bring your brain *and* your gut. This is the most socially conscious of Pryor's stand-up movies.
Don't believe the negative reviews. I repeat: don't buy the lukewarm responses.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not his best, but has its moments
I saw this at the old Jefferson Square Theater in Columbia, SC when I was in college in 1983. Pryor's last concert film, and not one of his better ones. Some interesting moments though. Mudbone appears in one of his rare filmed skits (compare this with the "Richard Pryor Show" DVD which repeats the classic Mudbone performance from "Is It Something I Said"). There is a really interesting moment when Pryor talks to a fiddler crab that crawls on his stool that is the kind of one-man theater that distiguished Pryor from his cursing copycats who had all of the profanity but none of the profundity of the master. He also does a frightfully accurate rendition of a junkie going on a nod. You can tell that he knows what he's talking about. In either case, this is for fans only. Rest in Peace brother Pryor.
5-0 out of 5 stars Pearls Before Swine
Pryor was brilliant in this set. However, as other reviewers have pointed out, his audience seemed to be composed of the inhabitants of every podunk village in Louisiana, who saw attendance at his show as the crowning moment of their lives, and wanted to make sure Pryor and the rest of the world knew just how momentous it was by announcing it at the top of their lungs, never stopping their celebration long enough to actually listen to Pryor's routine. He had to contend with a constant barrage of drunken heckling but he still managed to weave spellbinding stories and make brilliant impromptu observations about everyday life. In fact, he frequently turned the boorish behavior of the audience to his advantage, and constructed several brilliant bits of business from their sometimes bizarre antics. Still, it was particularly sad to watch the contrast between the profundity of Pryor's depiction of a broken down junkie and the audience's complete incomprehension of what Pryor was revealing. All the same, Pryor manages to transcend his audience's limitations and create a world of characters and experiences that was fascinating, touching and hilarious. If you can manage to do the same, and overlook the audience and immerse yourself in Pryor's world, it will be well worth the effort. Don't sleep on this one. ... Read more

My favorite parts are when Jackie has the woman on the infomercial to eat the relaxer, when Jackie and Kim fight over the dresses, and when Jackie is trying to convince everyone to calm down about getting paid. "Leave Jackie to worry about the money" "You want to get paid? Honey, I don't carry cash, my daughter Antandra will take care of everything" "My good friend liza gave me that oscar, she wasn't using it" " I can't add or subtract but I learned alot about life and that's what matters." I could go on and on. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars An Old HBO Special
I can remember watching the 'uncut' rendition on HBO years ago and I couldn't believe (at the time) the opinions and stance Martin Lawrence took on various subjects of the day. You might say I was 'shocked' not appalled but shocked that Lawrence chose to incorporate many sensitive subjects into his routine. An incredibly talented comic.
5-0 out of 5 stars He's the BEST!

2-0 out of 5 stars Pajama Jams pay for College?
To begin, House Party 2 is no House Party. In fact, those that would like to compare the two are completely off their hypothetical film "rocker".These are two completely separate films.Do you know why? What originally began as a film about some soulful and youthful teens trying to get to the ultimate dance party has now transformed into this clich morality tale that demonstrates the power of friendship and the strength of humility.WHAT!Is that why I wanted to watch this film?I apologize, but one of the few reasons that I liked House Party was because they followed the K.I.S.S. method (for those unfamiliar it is the Keep It Simple Stupid method) of filmmaking. In the original, becoming a lyricist, a ladies man, and having the best party in town was the root of the film. While there was a romantic side to the story, it fell second nature to the growing hip-hop scene. It was a dance film first, developed character story second.Honestly, that is what I enjoyed about the film. While I didn't think House Party was the greatest release of the century, it did have this genuine feel about it.In fact, after watching this poorly crafted sequel, I have a bit more respect for the original.Where was the dancing?Where was the creativity?Where was the same Kid & Play that I remembered from the first House Party? They were nowhere to be found in this trashy sequel.
5-0 out of 5 stars the sequal is better then the original
Kid'N'Play are going to college, well just mainly Kid, to leave the world of problems. While there Kid learns the lesson of responsibility....the hard way. Play gives Kid's college money to a beautiful, yet crooked music promoter (Iman). And with Sidney want to see new people, Kid comes to Play with help and come up with a PAJAMA JAM PARTY.
3-0 out of 5 stars almost as good as 1 but isn't because every1 is all grown up
i still enjoyed da sequel a lot i miss kid pop he was tough but still cool y did he have 2 die in da movie and in while life da black no hair man from rocky 1 through 5 was here in this movie he plays as kid culinary arts boss kid moves out of his house and goes somewhere 2 college while he has problems from his 2 best friends play and martin l they cause him all kinds of problem which leads kid and play 2 eventually fighting each other in da middle of da film female rapper queen l made her guess appearance and delivered well with big head actress tamisha campbell doing well in both house party movies this movie was very funny at times so i have no complaints about this film at all and this movie features some of da best films of da 90s like da 1st 1 did u wouldn't want 2 miss this sequel because it is another house party classic da only difference is that they are in college partying and still gettin into more trouble than the first 1 Joe Brown ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Stinky man, my name's Stinky.
If you were to ask me how many ways this film transformed into a disaster, I do not believe I would have enough fingers and toes to fully count the ways. From the dreamy beginning of this bland final chapter, until the ending clich moments, there were probably a million different themes and elements that were utterly pathetic. In fact, I believe that this may be the first film that I have watched which had no redeeming values surrounding it.For any of you that have watched, like myself, the House Party trilogy, there is a level of expectation that follows these films. The first movie set the groundwork.Kid & Play need to get to a party and express themselves lyrically. The sequel finished the shabby generic walls of the house by repeating a similar diagram, while the third film was the demolition team to tear it down.Everything set up from the beginning of this series was destroyed, demolished, decayed, disemboweled by the time that the third installment arrived. We were missing key characters, Kid & Play seemed less excited by this film, and apparently continuity from the second film was not a top priority for director Eric Meza. This film is nothing but trash left in the house for too long.House Party 3 smells, it is attracting too many flies, and mold is the only form of life willing to adapt to it.Sad to see the potentials of a trilogy die because the final film didn't pay respect to its beginnings.
3-0 out of 5 stars The last real House Party
Unless you count the 4th movie, made a few years ago, 'House Party 3' is the true conclusion to this Kid N' Play comedy series. The good news is that the series goes out with a bang. Too many comparisons have been made between this third film and the first two in the series. However, 'House Party 3' is funny in its own right.
