4-0 out of 5 stars A Classic That Doesn't Let Up!
This video may be 20 years old, but it stands the test of time.If you can get past the dated clothes and music, you have in your hands an excellent workout that will challenge you for years to come. The routine has a mix of cardio, weights and floor work.In my opinion the floor work is the most challenging-- I hit muscle failure many times today.Susan Harris, the instructor, frequently mentions going at your own pace, and I think this is the key.Use weights if you can.Do as many reps as you can. This will not only give you goals to work toward but allow to you see progress over time.If you're looking for a cardio-heavy, total low impact workout, this is not the tape for you. However, if you can handle a little jogging in place and want to really challenge your muscles, give this one a try.The Firm video series has flourished for 2 decades, and this video is one reason why!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best tapes ever made
This is one of the most great tapes in the world.I love everything about it.The music is beautiful, the mansion setting is breath taking and the instructer Susan Harris is wonderful. There is nobody I think better than Susan Harris.I was doing other things to get into shape and nothing was working good. When I was looking through my mom`s old tapes I picked this one up and started doing it.After that I was hooked I tell you.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best for people who work from home/ El mejor para gente que trabaja desde su casa
I started using this tape two years ago. I have three young kids and work from home. I'm a writer, which means lots of sitting time and stress--no time to go to the gym. This tape meant a dramatic difference for me. At age 40 I feel stronger, healthier, and more productive :-) The better I feel, the more creative and alert I am. Although I've bought more FIRM tapes and DVDs, this continues to be my very favorite (but the others are great too). A review was long overdue!

Editorial Review

When Samuel (Lukas Haas), a young Amish boy traveling with his mother Rachel (Kelly McGillis), witnesses the murder of a police officer in a public restroom, he and his mother become the temporary wards of John Book (Harrison Ford), a detective who's been assigned to solve the crime. After suspect lineups and mug-shot books yield nothing, Samuel, in the most memorable scene of the film, recognizes the murderer as a narcotics agent whose picture he sees in the precinct. Once Book realizes that the police chief is in on it, too, he whisks Samuel and Rachel back home to Amish country, where he himself goes into hiding as a plain Amish man. The juxtaposition between the life of the Amish and the violence of inner-city police corruption work surprisingly well for the story, and Kelly McGillis as the falling in love widow gives an almost perfect performance. Directed by Peter Weir, the film is extremely successful in drawing the viewer into its world and, accordingly, is immensely entertaining. The only thing that mars its polish is the one-dimensional, almost cartoonish handling of the upper-echelon police corruption--a subtler, more realistic treatment of this aspect of the story would have rendered the film near perfect. 5-0 out of 5 stars AN ARTISTIC TRIUMPH
unless u count the Phil Collins songs.... Well they are forgettable indeed and an intrusion at times. This movie didn`t need songs....
3-0 out of 5 stars I Like The Movie But..
The actual DVD sucks. The menu is unimpressive and for some reason, there is like 10 minutes of advertising from Disney. The extras are boring too. I don't want to see a Phil Collins music video! I likethe movie. It is funny and visually beautiful. The start is sad, but not as sad as Finding Nemo (a movie that I adore to no end!) As a Disney movie, it is a bit grown up for kids as there are guns and deaths. But hey, I know people who let children watch worse stuff than that, so I'm not complaining. In the end, the movie is watchable, but the DVD blows and isn't wirth the money. By the way, I'm not saying that Tarzan isn't good. Amazon tells us to review the PRODUCT as well as the movie. The movie gets a four from me and the DVD gets a minus ten.

5-0 out of 5 stars Behold the Legend of Tarzan...
After churning out less than stellar animation over the last few years, yet still creating hits at the box office, it's nice to go back and watch some of the other films that Disney Studios has made when they used a more elegant, and classy character design. One of the films they used their classic design for was a new interpretation of Edgar Rice Burroughs's literary classic "Tarzan".

5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT FILM
THIS MOVIE IS MY FAVORITE DISNEY SEQEUL!I ENJOYED PARTS OF THE FILM WAS WHEN SIMBA'S DAUGHTER AND ZIRA'S SON WERE TOGETHER.I LOVE THIS MOVIE EVEN MORE BECAUSE OF it's "ROMEO & JULIET" STORY,U KNOW,the FAMILIES ARE ENEMYS,the TWO KIDS BECOME FRIENDS,ECT.I SAW THE SECOND DISC WHICH WAS INTERESTING EXCEPT THAT SHORT FILM "ONE BY ONE." I DONT GET WHAT WAS GOING ON. I'M WATCHING IT RIGHT KNOW AND STILL DON'T GET IT.ANYWAYS I ENJOYED THE FILM AND I WILL ADMIT IT, I AM A LION KING FAN.

3-0 out of 5 stars OK, but not as good as the first one
The Lion King is one of my favourite movie. The second movie it's ok but not as good as the first one. It has poor songs, poor animation and a very poor action. However it has interesting bonus features like games or making-of. I suggest you think before buying this Disney DVD.

1-0 out of 5 stars Another bad sequel
Why must they make sequels? Why do they insist? I thought this movie was pathetic. I love the first movie, in comparison this movie is trash. I found it confusing because although it is implied that Scar dies in the first movie he suddenly has a pride of lions. Which makes no sense at all, why would Scar have hung out with the hyeneas in the first movie if he had his own pride of lions? Where were they? I did like the the part whhere Simba's daughter and the other lion were going down the river and Rafiki is singing. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars The only soundtrack is GERMAN
This is a movie I like a lot, but I am giving this version only 2 stars as a warning to other customers.Look closely at the details of the movie, under Language it only mentions German.Other Region 2 movies I have purchased that are American movies have always included an English soundtrack, but not this one.You can only watch the movie with German voices dubbed over the regular voices. It doesn't even have English subtitles.I still gave it 2 stars because you don't have to speak German to enjoy the exciting Rollerblade race at the end of the movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars airborne on dvd
you can find the dvd of this movie at amazon.de but i dont know german and you would have to have an all region dvd player or use a computer to play it on.i have bought rocketman on dvd(another dvd not released in usa) from amazon.uk before and they shipped it overseas to me no problem.must learn german.jack black at his finest.

5-0 out of 5 stars Airborne--Fantastic Movie
This movie was fantastic. It features a young Oz from Buffy and really brings back childhood memories of the Midwest.I wish it would come out in DVD.I am surprised that Shane McDermott is a real estate agent for Bay Reef Century 21 in Galvaston Texas.I truly thought he would make it as an actor.Anyway the movie is great and is a good one to watch whether young or old. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Forget PC Culture for a Few Hours and Just Enjoy the Movie!
I still remember the first time I read "Gone with the Wind".I was in my native Georgia, in high school, and spent a weekend in bed with the book.Once I started reading it, I could not put it down.Margaret Mitchell's characters were sparkling with vitality and a contagious energy that made you feel as though they were your own neighbors and family!
1-0 out of 5 stars Oh, those poor racists lost their slaves, how sad!
(1) Scarlett O'Hara is the least likable "heroine" I've ever seen. She has no redeeming qualities.
1-0 out of 5 stars Long and laborious, and so very stupid... how is this a classic?
This is another of those movies I wonder "HOW is this a classic?". Maybe the book was a lot better than the movie! I was watching this, not expecting much, but expecting to earn my respect, the way "Scarface" or "Casablanca", movies I don't like but have earned my respect as classic movies.

Editorial Review

When this popular prison drama was released in 1994, some critics complained that the movie was too long (142 minutes) to sustain its story. Those complaints miss the point, because the passage of time is crucial to this story about patience, the squeaky wheels of justice, and the growth of a life-long friendship. Only when the film reaches its final, emotionally satisfying scene do you fully understand why writer-director Frank Darabont (adapting a novella by Stephen King) allows the story to unfold at its necessary pace, and the effect is dramatically rewarding. Tim Robbins plays a banker named Andy who's sent to Shawshank Prison on a murder charge, but as he gets to know a life-term prisoner named Red (Morgan Freeman), we realize there's reason to believe the banker's crime was justifiable. We also realize that Andy's calm, quiet exterior hides a great reserve of patience and fortitude, and Red comes to admire this mild-mannered man who first struck him as weak and unfit for prison life. So it is that Read more

This television classic features the Peanuts characters in the story of Charlie Brown's problematic efforts to mount a school Christmas pageant. 2-0 out of 5 stars Big Disappointment!
This video is poorly made. I am a daycare provider and I was excited when I saw this video came out. I brought and watched it first without the kids. I thought it was kinda weird. It has a LOT of filler than has nothing to do with potty training. Which would have been ok expect it's BORING. One spot is about were toilet paper comes from. I don't know any 2 or 3 yr old who cares. The potty training songs are not cute or catchy. There are some parts of this video that can gives kids bad ideas such as putting their hands down their pants, pouring milk and not holding the cup, and playing with toilet paper. There also was a LONG argument between Elmo and Prairie Dawn that was useless. I really discouragemy kids from having arguments. This video seem to be made for older kids than those who need to be potty trained. I have let my daycare kids watch this video. They are bored during the spots I was bored during and are not excited during the rest of the video. It's Potty Time ~ Duke Family Series is a much better video. This the video which train my daughter when she as 18 months and my daycare kids LOVE it. It does have some filler but my daycare kids LOVE it and cheer when I put it on. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Year After "Rocky" - and almost as good
"One on One" opened in the summer of 1977 and was basically a nice follow up to "Rocky" the year before. An underdog, in this case, a small standout high school basketball player, enters the big time world of college basketball and is ill equipped to deal with the pressures - and the assortment of difficult characters he encounters (an underage and older woman seductress; a coach from hell; a smug intellectual, etc.). Robby Benson was an important film star for several years and made several high quality films. This film, which he co-wrote, is probably his best (with "The Chosen," another little scene film, a very close second). His characters were decent, warm, smarter than they seemed, and brave. The love story with Annette O'Toole, who plays his college tutor, is believably drawn, and is the spine of the story of a young man's growth toward manhood. There is also plenty of humor in the story - and the basketball scenes, whether in practice or the actual games, have the feel of real college basketball, even today.THIS FILM NEEDS TO BE ON DVD!It's the 30th anniversary, so come on!On ESPN classic, they showed this film with some terrific commentary by Robby Benson and others in the cast, reflecting back on the experience of making the film. This should definitely be included in the DVD version. It was just excellent - and brought back all the feelings I had when I first saw the film.I was in high school too.It was the late 1970's and we were hungry for heroes. And life was definitely simpler (though, of course, it didn't seem so at the time). This is a smart, funny, inspiring film - and it deserves a gold star DVD treatment - with the terrific Seals and Crofts songs included as a CD bonus."My Fair Share," the title song is terrific.A five-star treat, by any standards!

5-0 out of 5 stars DVD now, please!
This is a great movie...it has its campy 70's moments, but when you compare it to the other movies made during that time, it far exceeds many of them.
5-0 out of 5 stars Funny, touching, romantic tale
This is a film I first saw the year it was released and almost 30 years later I am still quoting lines from it and humming the theme song.PLEASE release a DVD version of this marvelous film for a new generation to experience and us "older" viewers (mid 40's)to be reunited with old friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Picture Is Worth A Million Words!
Words alone cannot describe the effect this made for tv movie had on me when I watched the original showing on tv (1977).I was taken aback at how realistically they were allowed to portray this man's (Haley) story, which in effect was the story of the entire Black race and, to a large degree, the White race in this country! For Blacks it was like reliving their history. For Whites it was a serious enlightenment (and in some cases a rude awakening). It managed to open the door for dialogue between the races, and inspired a whole nation to get involved with genealogy too. Most importantly, it inspired most of this nation to say "never again."I have to agree with D. Hammork though in that I'm shocked and appalled at Amazon for leaving LeVar Burton and John Amos (who both played the MAIN character)off of their list of people who STARRED in this movie! This movie launched Burton's career; and John Amos had already been a star in his own right! Please get your act together!

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting Look
A very fine and intriguing documentary from Errol Morris about the life and work of physicist/celebrity Stephen Hawking, who revolutionized the way we think about the universe in his monumental book of the same name. The film is really divided into two stories, the life of Hawking as he struggles to overcome his paralysis, and the brilliant work he achieved in spite of his physical limitations. One gets the impression that had Hawking never became ill, he wouldn't have been as compelled to carry out the kind rigorous intellectual work that he of course did carry out, and (he himself notes that he was quite bored with life prior to his paralysis). Morris does a fine job with the material; the first half hour of the film suffers from a dry PBS feel, but the aesthetic and intellectual intensity takes off from there, the film never digresses into a mere sob story. Morris nearly always keeps the material more intellectually intriguing than it is uplifting and sentimental.

A Brief History of Time is an uncomfortable combination of autobiography and a bibliography of some (generally Hawking dominated) concepts in cosmology. While it does go into more depth (and is slightly more entertaining) than Stephen Hawking's Universedoes when it covers these topics, the movie is greatly distracted by anecdotes about his life. Some of these offer an entertaining glimpse into his life and personality, some into how certain of his and other scientests' ideas were come across, but others are pointless and annoying, and on the whole they distract from the science, which is really the most interesting topic the film could cover.Read more

Editorial Review

When you are in the mood for a pleasant little romance, this should fit the bill. Amy Irving and Richard Dreyfuss are young pianists vying for the same prize. Surprise, surprise, they fall in love. We then must wait, with (nearly) breathless anticipation, to see if she will throw the contest to ensure his love. It is all a bit starry-eyed, but not overly gooey. The concert footage is handled with class, and there are some fine supporting performances from Sam Wanamaker and Lee Remick. It is also a lot of fun to see Dreyfuss and Irving as such fresh-faced innocents. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Please suggest releasing on DVD
This is one of Dreyfus' best.
5-0 out of 5 stars Time for DVD Please !!!
Just a short review of amovie I would immediately buy if released on DVD.I saw this movie with a group of piano students about 25 years ago, and it seemed to embody much of the angst, joys, and politics of this type of competition.Although somewhat trite, the movie provided a themefor a group of college aged music students to identify with.I check about once a year to see if this movie is available on DVD, and alas---not yet. I will keep checking in hopes that the studios will see this little gem for what it is! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Commonly confused with earlier Disney release "Scary Tales"
Donald's Scary Tales does not contain "Skeleton Dance." It is commonly confused with a video released by Disney in the early 1980's known as Scary Tales. Scary Tales has a run time of 43 minutes and does contain "Skeleton Dance." Donald's Scary Tales has a run time of 22 minutes and has three shorts on it: "Donald Duck and the Gorilla", "Duck Pimples", and "Donald's Lucky Day." I hope this helps any fellow collectors of vintage animation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Disney Classic But No Skeleton Dance Though
This is definetly A Disney Classic. But the Skeleton Dance is not in this Video. Adults will be taken back to their childhood after viewing this wonferful Disney Classic. Kids are mesmerizied by this timeless classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best collection of cartoons ever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly as advertised - the greatest story ever retold
As a Southern Baptist fundamentalist, I don't generally like people fooling around with the Gospel - I'm a KJV-only kind of guy - but I think Cotton Patch Gospel is just fantastic. It moves the story of Jesus from Israel to the American South and retells the story in the Southern vernacular, but it still tells the Gospel story - and it does so in an immensely entertaining, surprisingly powerful way.The roots of this musical really extend back to man named Clarence Jordan, a Georgia native and social activist who translated the Gospels of Matthew and John into the Southern vernacular as a means to extend the reach of the Gospel story.Later, Tom Key (who stars in this production) wrote a play based on Jordan's Cotton Patch Gospels, and then Harry Chapin supplied the music that turned the play into a full-blown off-Broadway musical.
5-0 out of 5 stars Spend some time with this movie
This is a marvelous work in every area of attempted endeavor: the music is rich, the jokes are humorous without detracting from the emotional impact of the performance, and the presentation of the core elements of Christian faith as presented in the gospel of Matthew are reasonably accurate and incredibly accessible. 1-0 out of 5 stars Cotton Patch need fertilized not sanitized

Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is a rogue pirate. He was exiled from his crew and left on an island. Jack managed to escape the island and is now looking for revenge and wants his ship back. Jack's former crew invade the town of Port Royal looking for a medallion that could rid them of their curse. They kidnap Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) and her childhood friend, Will (Orlando Bloom), sets out to rescue her with the help of Jack Sparrow.
5-0 out of 5 stars Har!The best pirate movie since `The Crimson Pirate'.
Let's face it, has there been a more fun and memorable pirate movie since 1952 when Burt Lancaster and his silent sidekick Ojo swashbuckled bad guys, slid down awnings, and saved the girl?Go ahead, search your brain.
