4-0 out of 5 stars The Day After Tomorrow
The day after Tomorrow is a great movie. I love it because it's not just an other sport movie, chic flick, action, romance or comedy movie. There's nothing else like the Day After Tomorrow. It's a little bit of everything. It's the story of a series of natural disasters that are thought to be the end of the world. In this movie a man predicts all of the huge disasters but, no one believes him. I would recomend The Day After Tomorrow to sixth graders and up because i saw it in fourth at a sleep over and was scard out of my mind! It is scarry to think something so bad would ever happen to our world. If you have kids that will watch this movie i would remind them that this storry is not real and wount happen for a very very very long time (so my mom says.)

3-0 out of 5 stars Seriously, it is really not all that bad
THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW has widely been ridiculed as one of the silliest movies of recent years and was the recipient of utterly awful reviews when it was released.Having heard all of this, I was hardly tempted to watch it for some time. But recently I was in the mood for a disaster movie, and having recently watched the Val Guest British classic THE DAY THE EARTH CAUGHT FIRE, I was interested in seeing it destroyed by ice as well.Although this is one of the most thoroughly panned films of recent years by critics, I thought it was, in fact, a very entertaining film.
5-0 out of 5 stars I love this movie...what an adventure!
This is the kind of movie that is perfect to watch with the whole family. Pop the popcorn and get ready for an adventure! I watch this movie over and over again and I'm never bored with it. It has all the makings of a classic disaster film: you care about the characters, it's just predictable enough to draw you in and keep you watching. The cinematogaphy is awesome and the special effects keep you on the edge of your seat. The cast was excellent and I can hardly wait to pop this movie into the dvd player and watch it again...Loved it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An extremely well crafted movie
This is a fantastic movie about the HMS Surprise, commanded by Captain Jack Aubrey, stalking the French vessell Acheron to the "far side of the world" during the Napoleanic era.The filem is intricately detailed, and while I am no sailor, most of the details strike true.I do know that the British Navy by the time of this story absolutely revered Lord Nelson, and that reverance is played out in this movie when several younger offciers ask the Captain for impressions of Nelson during one of his two meeting with the Admiral. The cannons have names, the bells number the hours of the shipboard day.A knotted rope line is played out to measure the ship's speed in knots.A sounding is taken to read the depth of the sea, and sextant lessons are given to measure true noon.In fact the level of detail is overwhelming, but the story is just as good.
5-0 out of 5 stars Far Side is the MASTER
What a great epic movie, only wish I bought the wide screen instead - wonderful movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars History by telling stories
THE HISTORY OF BRITAIN is exciting history even for people with only a casual interest. Its not a typical documentary with events and dates and speeches.Rather Simon Schama tells us stories about the people, struggles, causes, battles, and motivations of the people who shaped one of the most interesting countries and empires.4-0 out of 5 stars Very sharp series..
After having covered some British history only briefly in a college "western civ" class, it was enormously gratifying to come across a series that brings the subject alive, just as Simon Schama has done here; yes, there are some spots where I thought perhaps he could have gone into (I would have liked to hear a bit more about post-Roman England and about St. Anselm, whose conduct as Archbishop of Canterbury gives an idea about why Becket might have acted as he did,) but the severe nature of Henry VIII's "reformation" of the English church was brought out in such stark nature, that it ended up raising my awareness of some of the other critical transformations involving Church and government of the time. Schama is frank (even blunt), very clear, and enormously fun to take in. Bravo!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Time
I enjoyed this series immensely. Because of the vast period of time the series covers Mr. Schama is forced to brush over many events and individuals, but I don't believe that it suffers because of it.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a dream full of lights and colour
The story is very simple, i agree. But the setting is wonderful, the neon lights, the colors, the changing dimensions of the scene sets, that artificial paper moon, Nastassia Kinski walking on a thin rope, the charming dance scenes, the people doing carnival on a strange Las Vegas strip. This is a music video that really breaks your heart and then fills it again with light and colour.
3-0 out of 5 stars A great lesson of cinema does not necessarily make a great movie!
It's an interesting piece but it goes in so many directions. It could have been a Felini movie, a US version of Fellini, but the second part is to slow. As a fan of Tom Waits, I had to see it anyway...
3-0 out of 5 stars Movie: 2 stars; DVD: 4 stars
After his disastrous experiences filming "Apocalypse Now" in the Philippines during the '70s, director Francis Ford Coppola decided to play it safe with his 1982 follow-up, "One From the Heart," a modest musical comedy he filmed entirely on the stages of his own Zoetrope Studios. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad...
..I guess my problem is I read the book in 1980... and ever since then I've waited for them to make a movie of the book.
3-0 out of 5 stars Problematic Violence
When told that the Bible (a book the hero of this film reads often) counsels forgiveness, John Creasy replies blandly (something like), "Forgiveness: That's between a man and his maker; it's my job to arrange the meeting." A great line, but it points to what disturbs me about this film: its glorification of justice meted out by one man operating outside the law. First the film sentiimentalizes the character of Creasy; then just as we come to like him, we watch him brutally torture one character after another (in ways that really do not bear repeating here). Is this the moral center of this film?
5-0 out of 5 stars Do you want some JUSTICE!!! Watch this!!!!
I loved this movie so much that i had to buy the book and guess what! the book is even better. The book is different but it's as good as the movie. Denzel is inspiring and his relationship with the girl as a bodyguard is beautiful because it seems that she took him out of the dark side of life. This makes the story and his anger becomes much more intense and truthfull. It is violent but in the right way. Not too much, just enough!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The mystery of the moving package
He never should have broken
5-0 out of 5 stars Great action movie
I rented this with mixed feelings before seeing it. Most action movies is seen that before and just plain cheesy. For some reason Van Damme comes to mind. Transporter is something I can own and watch again. The plot is decent and easy to follow. But its the car chases and the fight scenes(especially) that steal the show. Some of the illest moves, stunts and fight situations I have ever seen. What I like the most is, the movie gets straight to the action and there is alot of it, with minimum talk to take up most of the time. If your an action freak, you'll love this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jason Statham

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the very few movies that actually makes you laugh
I just watched my new Ice Age DVD and was delighted. Most of us like the film and I am extremely pleased with the transfer to DVD. I have a 35" TV and an older Yamaha receiver with Dolby Pro-Logic. I set the listening mode to 70mm and was very impressed with how good it sounded. I would guess the Dolby Digital soundtrack is awesome. The video transfer is gorgeous. I have waited a long time for this film to come out on DVD and I'm very happy to have this two-disc edition.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Squirrel
This movie is probably the funniest kids movie out there.
5-0 out of 5 stars This film is too hot to be called "Ice Age"
Excellent computer generated animated feature that makes a case for one of the finest films of 2002. It is the frozen era and prehistoric animals try to find their way to land that is warmer and drier. An early group of human hunters become the hunted as a group of sabertooth tigers begin to plot revenge. As the attack occurs, a small infant child is taken out of harm's way. Hear we see a wooly mammoth, a silly sloth, who finds the young child and decides to return it to the humans. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars X2 is an awesome film!
With dazzling special effects, spectacular battles, touching romance and sacrafice, and an even edgier Wolverine, X2: X-Men United is even better than the original! The second installment of the X-Men Trilogy, United proves to be a fantastic addition to the series, as well as a great action film on its own!
5-0 out of 5 stars X-MAN-- SO COOOOL
X-man is my favorite movie. The characters are Wolverine/Iceman/and Flameman. It takes place in the White House. It takes place in the present.I like the movie for the fighting. One reason I like it is the way X-Man sticks knives out of his hands.I like the way they fight.I think kids 8 and up would like the movie because of thier powers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Even Better Than The First!
X-Men fans, comic book fans, action movie fans, and all-around good movie fans, SEE THIS MOVIE!The first movie set the bar high, but this movie tops it.Right from the beginning you know you are in for a real treat.I was spellbound the first time I watched it, and have watched it again and again since. This is a title that is worth owning, as are the other 2 X-Men movies (both 1 and 3).Once again Hugh Jackman pulls off playing Wolverine impeccably, and the other characters deliver too.If you are a comic book fan or an action movie fan, getting the X-Men trilogy is a no-brainer.Enjoy! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good Thriller.....
I found this show was a good thriller. Brittany Murphy does a great job playing a "disturbed" girl and Michael Douglas does a good job playing her psychiatrist. Murphy's character pretends to be psychotic in order to remain in mental institutions because there is someone out there that wants something from her..... something that she has in her memory. She finds safety remaining in mental institutions. There is alot of good suspense in this movie like when Douglas' character's daughter is kidnapped being held hostage in return for the secret Murphy has in her memory..... a number. Douglas must then do what it takes to save his daughter and his patient. Good acting, good suspense and overall a movie that keeps you interested. Good movie to rent if you have not seen it before. Worth seeing.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't Say a Word(2001)
Director:Gary Fleder 3-0 out of 5 stars far-fetched, and often laughable, but entertaining anyway
Michael Douglas often seems to unfairly get a bad rap; he's actually a marvelous actor--consider his superb performances in movies such as "The China Syndrome", "Fatal Attraction", "Falling Down", and "The Game", among many others, to be reminded. Douglas gives it his best shot in "Don't Say A Word" as well, playing a psychiatrist named Nathan Conrad.Conrad's daughter Jessie (Sky McCole Bartusiak) is taken by a group of kidnappers lead by Patrick Koster (Sean Bean). To meet Koster's request, Conrad must somehow pry a 6 digit number out of a mental patient named Elisabeth (Brittany Murphy).
