5-0 out of 5 stars Tae Bo Workouts
I have to say how wonderful, motivational and challenging tae bo workouts are.In 2 months I've lost 32 pounds, I do tae bo 6 times per week for about 3 months now.I must share the toning results.I've never thought there were actually muscles under the fat in my body after losing 32 pounds.I can see a huge diference on the way I feel,my energy, I feel more confident. I know if I keep doing tae bo I can get to my goal.
5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!
I love tae-bo! Billy Blanks is awesome and Tae-bo is fun and easy to use. This dvd is great because it has the different workouts so you can choose what level of difficulty you want. The 8 minute workout is also nice because it's quick enough to do if you only have a few minutes, but effective enough to get your heart pumping and let you feel like you've actually worked out, even if it's only for 8 minutes! I think anyone can do taebo-whether you are super-fit or out of shape. And if you can't quite do all of the moves in the workouts, Billy will show you ways to make them easier. Give Tae-bo a chance! I bet you'll like it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gets RESULTS! Offers everything it promises!
I bought this set back in 1999, reluctantly.I had never found a good exercise video and was getting the four pack hoping that at least ONE would be good.Well, it's 2006 and I am still doing Tae Bo.I have expanded my collection of videos (and DVDs now) but I still love the originals!Billy is an extremely motivational instructor, and you really feel the vibe of the people in the videos. It pushes you to reach out and grab that little something extra, and when you do and you reach the goal, WOW, it feels AMAZING!

5-0 out of 5 stars Travelling Gypsies Both By DVD & CD
The Gypsies left their original homeland in northern India around 1000AD. This much has been established by historical and linguistic research, but the reason for their exodus westward is less certain. They reached Europe by the early C14th, crossing from Asia Minor by way of Crete and the Peloponnesus, and continued their dispersal westward and northward. By the end of the C14th they were already settled in large numbers in the Balkans and Danube lands, where an undeveloped economic structure and primitive technology gave Gypsy smiths and cobblers the chance to compete with local artisans. Early accounts of their arrival suggest that the curiosity and sympathy they originally aroused were accompanied by suspicion and hostlity, and soon their status changed dramatically from protected guests to persecuted outlaws. Within a 100 years of their first appearance, most countries in western Europe had passed savage laws for their expulsion: some even legislated to include the death penalty. 'Lacho Drom' is a wonderful travelogue of Rom music which traces this migration. The music and demeanour of the people says it all; languages that transcend regional barriers. Clearly, by Czechoslovakia, we have entered the Rom estate popularised by European literature's cliches, extolled by the excessive practice of all vices known to Man. The film's concluding lament caps an increasingly sad tale of persecution born, nevertheless, with brave equanimity. The appropriate footnote, if you can source it, is Joseph Koudelka's grave portfolio of Gypsies that was published by Aperture in the mid 1970s. I hestitate to trumpet aesthetics here, where it obviously hurts, but Koudelka's images are some of the most stunningly beautiful you'll ever see. There's nothing vouyeristic about Koudelka as in nearly every instance he's acknowledged by his subjects. And that implicit trust is rarely evinced anywhere, anytime, resulting in a candour that might well move you to tears.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful and moving documentary!
This is one of my favorite documentary, still wish that they would release on DVD! I love the stories, and the beauty that it shows. It also is a great way to see the life style of Nomads from all over the world!

This yoga set is perfect for busy people who need to work in a way to relax. On the a.m. tape, Rodney Yee takes you through a 15-minute morning yoga set, while Patricia Walden leads a 20-minute evening routine on the p.m. tape. The a.m. tape was filmed on a beach on Maui at sunrise, providing a soothing background for this gentle workout. In the morning, Rodney tells us, "the body is rested but stiff from inactivity." The stretches he demonstrates are designed to increase circulation, improve mobility, and bring clarity to your mind. The movements are easy to follow (they include a conscious relaxation, the a.m. workout, and a guided meditation), and the set is short enough that it can be squeezed into the most hectic of morning schedules. The p.m. video was filmed at sunset in Death Valley. Patricia's yoga set is designed to quiet the mind after the stress of the day and to help you make the transition from active to quiet. She uses a combination of a centering series, standing poses, forward bends, and restorative poses to help you ease into night. You will need some firm blankets to sit on and a yoga strap (although a belt or scarf will serve the same purpose) to perform these movements. Perfect for the beginner and for the overworked. 5-0 out of 5 stars A Picture Is Worth A Million Words!
Words alone cannot describe the effect this made for tv movie had on me when I watched the original showing on tv (1977).I was taken aback at how realistically they were allowed to portray this man's (Haley) story, which in effect was the story of the entire Black race and, to a large degree, the White race in this country! For Blacks it was like reliving their history. For Whites it was a serious enlightenment (and in some cases a rude awakening). It managed to open the door for dialogue between the races, and inspired a whole nation to get involved with genealogy too. Most importantly, it inspired most of this nation to say "never again."I have to agree with D. Hammork though in that I'm shocked and appalled at Amazon for leaving LeVar Burton and John Amos (who both played the MAIN character)off of their list of people who STARRED in this movie! This movie launched Burton's career; and John Amos had already been a star in his own right! Please get your act together!

gary cole as custer, rodney a grant as crazy horse, and roseanna arquette as libby custer make this t.v.mini series shine and one of the best tellings of the life of custer ever put on film.
5-0 out of 5 stars Loved the movie, but how much longer for the DVD?
Despite being a made for TV flick, this is my fav Little Big Horn movie.I don't know why it takes what feels like forever to reprint VHS versions to DVD whith all the high-tech out there, but like Zulu Dawn, another of my favorite war flicks, it seems that the conversion of celluloid to digital is as slow as molasses in January (that's January in Norther Virginia, and baby, it get's cold here!).I found the acting of all the characters excellent, the storyline, wonderful, the action super, and the perspective from both sides, the red man and the white man, excellent, and the atmosphere convincing, although there is not much grit to the era in the movie.Just stop farting around and get me a DVD version and make me a very happy fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars "son of the morning star" is a true epic
this is t.v.'s take at the boxoffic and oscar power of "dances with wolves" and it is really the best thing t.v. has done next to "lonesome dove". gary cole is just perfect as the bold, ego manic, loving husband, and a commanding officer no one would want. rodney grant of "dances with wolves" is also great as crazy horse and the battle is the center piece of this fine look at the little big horn from both sides and really brings home the sadness of what followed for both sides. this belongs on dvd, i hope it is soon. but if a tape is what it takes to see this movie then buy it you will love it ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This movie brings the novel Jane Austen wrote to life brilliantly!
I have read Jane Austen's novel called "Pride and Prejudice" many times, and when I saw that a movie version of it would be on television, I didn't have much hope that it would be a faithful rendering of the book. But when I watched the movie on television, it matched Jane Austen's novel, word for word. It was a masterful production, and the actors chosen to portray the characters were perfect in the roles they played. I knew I had to own a copy of this beautiful movie! (I had seen a shorter movie of "Pride and Prejudice" on television, and it bore very little resemblence to the novel written by Jane Austen.) I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves novels written by Jane Austen.

5-0 out of 5 stars closest to the book
I loved this version, it was the closest to the book of all the versions i have seen, including the 2005 one.Jennifer Ehle also to me is the most authentic Elizabeth of them all, and I would say overall the rest of the cast match the books characters more closely, with maybe Mr. Bennet being a little more humorous in this version than the book.I'm not sure about fashions in that time period, but I have a feeling it was the most authentic as far as fashion goes. For example, I think most women at that time period and of that class level and agewould never be seen in public with their hair down, it would always be up, but in the 2005 version Elizabeth goes to Meryton out in public with her hair down. Also, it was the most authentic as far as language goes, in the 2005 version phrases/passages were changed for a modern audience to understand it better, but I prefer it spoken as it is in the book.Jennifer Ehle and Susannah Harker meet the maturity aspect of the women in the book as opposed to other versions where they are portrayed as mentally much younger and naive, and sometimes even giddy.I would have to say colin Firth is my favorite Darcy too, even though I had no problem with the guy in the 2005 version. I've also seen a 1980's version, and I think something from the 1970's, as well as the old 1940's version, so I've seen a few.

5-0 out of 5 stars Looking for Mr. Darcy
I have watched several versions of Pride and Prejudice, and loved them all.

5-0 out of 5 stars almost perfect
These films look really good cleaned up, only thing George shouldn't of changed/added was the Greedo/Han scene in episode 4, the Han walking over Jabbas tail scene in episode 4, and the change to the end scene in episode 6 at the end where yoda, obi-wan, and anakin are all standing together smiling at luke. Replacing the old darth vader with the actor from episode 3 was just plain out dumb.
5-0 out of 5 stars stars wars trilogy
my favorite movie is starwars trilogy. it is about the dark side and the good side.It takes place in the future. It is set in space.I liked it because it has action and love. It is also funny and is cool. All people would like the movie because it is about science and space. I give it a thumbs up.

3-0 out of 5 stars Despite what people think, it's NOT the greatest sci-fi film ever
Let's start off with the "special edition" commentary. The special features were lame, and let's be honest, who wanted to watch the entire Disc special where they lauded George Lucas as a genius? Such ego!Sure, at the time, the special effects were fine and maybe it did INNOVATE a whole industry...but the whole "concept" of Star Wars isn't like Buddha's word of mouth, or anything.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just about perfect in all respects...
Race and crime are the topics of this adaptation of Harper Lee's mega-selling novel. Set in the pre-World War II south, filmed in black and white, starring two child actors who were totally unknown and the wonderful Gregory Peck, the movie is really a tale of a single dad small-town lawyer raising a boy and a girl to do the right things and think the right thoughts. Famous for many things, the movie features a child character based on Truman Capote, and a mysterious neighbor played by Robert Duvall in his film debut. The music and cinematography are both superb. Everyone over the age of 12 should see this film at least once.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Cinematic Masterwork About Human Fallibility in a World of Wearying Intolerance
Having just read Charles Shields' biography of Harper Lee, "Mockingbird", and re-read her classic (and only) novel for at least the third time, I was able recently to watch Robert Mulligan's 1962 classic film adaptation with fresh eyes, and the 2005 Legacy Series Edition DVD fortunately contains a pristine print transfer and a bundle of extras that make repeated viewings more than worthwhile. Rarely has a film so accurately captured the emotional consequences of human fallibility steadfastly within the grip of racial intolerance. Set in the Deep South of Lee's childhood in the fictional town of Maycomb in 1932, the story, adapted by writer Horton Foote, focuses on six-year old Scout, the tomboy, motherless daughter of lawyer Atticus Finch.
5-0 out of 5 stars Review of DVD To Kill a Mockingbird
The Legacy Series Edition of To Kill a Mockingbird is an excellent DVD set.In addition to the classic movie (which we never tire of), the special features are very interesting, including interviews with "Scout" (Mary Badham), and "Atticus Finch".It is easy to understand why Gregory Peck is so revered and respected as an actor.

After a government-spawned "superflu" wipes out more than 90 percent of the earth's population, the devastated survivors must decide whether to support or resist the advances of a mysterious stranger from way down South (heh-heh) who wishes to claim this new world order for himself. Although the six-hour length makes it nigh-impossible to digest in one sitting, this well-paced adaptation of Stephen King's apocalyptic magnum opus ranks among the best adaptations of the author's work, with strong performances from Gary Sinise, Miguel Ferrer, and especially Jamey Sheridan as a good-old-boy version of Old Scratch. The opening scene, set to the strains of Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper," is one of the most chilling things ever shot for television. 5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT STEPHEN KING FILM!
First off, this is a great movie that is one of the best Stephen King adaptations out there. One thing, this is based on the first cut version of the novel that came out many years ago and that is why not all full story is in it. Anyway, if you like good Stephen King adaptations, then this is the way to go.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing

4-0 out of 5 stars Above average movie
I thought this was very well made. Little special effects was needed due to a great plot, script and acting. The music was good for setting the mood for this chilling tale. " The Color Purple" is a great movie. It was made years back but it's still worth seeing. The actors and actresses Danny glover, Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Whinfrey and others make the movie memorable.

Whoopi Goldberg gives an unbelievable performance in this film.I have never seen her do anything that holds a candle to this. Oprah Winfrey as well.Danny Glover is outstanding. This is a very sad story... the tears will pour early on, but it is well told.An excellent script, terrific performances. This is a must see. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Walk Away 3 mile super fat blaster
I have done the two mile in the past and wanted something more intense.I recently got the 3 mile super fat blaster tape and I love it.It cost a lot less than a gym membership and I can exercise any time of the day, on the spur of the moment even.I recommend Leslie's tapes to anyone, at any fitness level.I am a Diabetes Educator so I even recommend these tapes to my clients to help them improve their blood sugar control.Leslie's program is fabulous!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this!!!

I love WALK AWAY THE POUNDS!! That's exactly what you'll do if you use the tapes regularly. The set comes with a 1 mile-get up and get started, 2 mile-high calorie burn and 3 mile-super fat burn. This set also includes a pair of weighted balls that make the workouts more challenging. They are easy to hold and are of about 2 lbs each. Editorial Review

The three-day Woodstock music festival in 1969 was the pivotal event of the 1960s peace movement, and this landmark concert film is the definitive record of that milestone of rock & roll history. It's more than a chronicle of the hippie movement, however; this is a film of genuine historical and social importance, capturing the spirit of America in transition, when the Vietnam War was at its peak and antiwar protest was fully expressed through the liberating music of the time. With a brilliant crew at his disposal (including a young editor named Martin Scorsese), director Michael Wadleigh worked with over 300 hours of footage to create his original 225-minute director's cut, which was cut by 40 minutes for the film's release in 1970. Eight previously edited segments were restored in 1994, and the original director's cut of Woodstock is now the version most commonly available on videotape and DVD. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The greatest concert film ever
The Summer of 1969 seems a thousand years ago.I was eighteen years old, had just graduated from high school, was on vacation in Hawaii with my family, and terrified of the draft because the Vietnam War was at its height.
5-0 out of 5 stars woodstock - 3 days of peace & music (the director's cut)
    Excellent - arrived on time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good stuff
When reviews of music DVD's are all over the board regarding sound quality only one fair conclusion is possible: The problem is the end user, not the product. I was stunned by how good this DVD sounded. Consider the conditions under which Woodstock was recorded and the quality and calibration of your home system before jumping to negative conclusions about this "transfer". That the VHS version sounds better than the Dolby 5.1 mix on DVD is simply not possible. You can quibble about several aspects of this movie but sound quality should not be one of them. ... Fascinating and fun.I found the partner book in a used book store, and it, too, is excellent.Even though the program is not au courant, it's a terrific educator for everyone, little and big. But,jeez, where's the DVD?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great show
I was recently reminded of seeing this series when it was on PBS... and I've got to say it was impressive. I was hoping it had been released on DVD, but since it hasn't I'll probably buy the VHS tapes. I'm not a teacher or professional linguist, but I found this miniseries to be really good. Its not only fascinatingly educational, but also entertaining. Just because most of the other reviews mention using it in class doesn't mean its not something worth watching at home for your own edutainment!

5-0 out of 5 stars SO GREAT!
A month or two ago, my AP English teacher played us one of the videos to this series.Considering the content and the fact that this is a somewhat old documentary, I had very low expectations...oh my god was I wrong.I have NEVER been so entertained by a documentary! There were all of these sayings and terms that I had completely forgotten about (or perhaps never heard) and it was so hilarious seeing the old fashions and technology. It was like opening a time capsule. The watcher can get a completely untainted opinion regarding all aspects of the culture of the late 80's / early 90's. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Still a Television Event, but a slight notch down from Seasons 1 and 2
By the time "The Sopranos" entered its third season, it had solidified its standing as a "weekly event".There aren't many television shows in the 50+ years of television history that can be put into this category.A "weekly event" show basically has everyone talking about the episode the next day. In the 1980s, shows such as "Dallas" and "Dynasty" were "weekly events".In the 1990s, "Seinfeld" would take emerge as the show that would become a "weekly event".As Seinfeld wound up, another show would soon take that title into the 21st century - that show being HBO's "The Sopranos".The first two seasons of the show not only established a show of high entertainment value, but a show that also was of high quality.Season 3,"The Sopranos - The Complete Third Season" does have some very good episodes, it does take a slight notch down from the first two years.
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome series, awesome season!!
This is the season w/ the episode where Paulie & Christopher are lost in the wilderness!!!!Don't eat the berries!!!
5-0 out of 5 stars The Sopranos: Season Three
The third season of "The Sopranos" continued on with its splendid storytelling, brilliant acting, and top-notch directing. Season three had at least one new challenge for writer/creator David Chase: dealing with the character of Tony's evil mother Livia. Chase originally had Livia written into the first several episodes of season three. Then Nancy Marchand, the actress who played Livia, died of lung cancer in June 2000. "The Sopranos" lost a dear member of the family, and Chase had to go back and re-write those episodes. In the second episode of season three (titled "Proshai, Livushka"), Marchand made a cameo appearence as Livia with the help of previous existing footage and special effects. Then she dies, and the entire Soprano clan come together for her funeral. This is a good episode, even though the scene where Livia comes in for one last moment looks awkward. But Chase wanted to give Marchand and her character a fitting tribute to one of their own. "The Sopranos" also lost another regular cast member: Vincent Pastore, who played Tony's dear friend Pussy (and got whacked at the end of season two). Season three introduced a couple of new characters. Joe Pantoliano came on to portray unstable mobster Ralph Cifaretto; Annabella Sciorra guest starred in the latter episodes of season three as Gloria Trillo, a car saleswoman who Tony starts having an affair with; and Jason Carbone as Jackie Aprile Jr., son of the late mob boss Jackie Aprile Sr., who was always getting in trouble, which constantly aggravated Tony. Season three of "The Sopranos" featured some very strong episodes, including the fourth episode ("Employee of the Month"). This is the episode in which Tony's shrink Dr. Melfi gets raped, and features the best acting that Lorraine Bracco has done on the show. But probably the most talked about episode from season three without a doubt has got to be the eleventh, "Pine Barrens". To this day I still keep hearing people talk about this episode, in which two of Tony's wiseguys (Christopher and Paulie) get lost in the woods after unsuccessfully trying to whack a Russian mobster. This is a great episode, and is worth seeing just to watch the great acting by Michael Imperioli (Christopher) and Tony Sirico (Paulie). The third season of "The Sopranos" received 22 Emmy nominations, and won James Gandolfini and Edie Falco their second Emmys for Best Actor and Actress in a Drama Series. It also won an Emmy for the second time in the writing category for the episode "Employee of the Month".

5-0 out of 5 stars STARTING TO WORRY
I have used this series for a few years now and have had great success with it. Not just the old school compilation of talking heads, but an engaging, well-paced documentary. However, as others have said, I am getting concerned about its availability in the future when VHS players go the way of the 8-track. Anyone out there know of plans to put this on DVD?

5-0 out of 5 stars History with Emotion
This series is so helpful to recall the chronological order of all of the things once learned in history classes at school. Hoever this series not only gives the facts, but adds a personal element to it by interviewing average citizens who remember the historic events recalled. By no means is this your "boring documentary". I have seen the series several times, and I still learn new things, and I still moved everytime, at the strength of our country and the tremendous blessing it is to live here.

5-0 out of 5 stars More Sex and the City = More Shoes!!!
Sex and the City is back again. This time there is more sex, more relationships and of course more drama. It's so good though, and addictive. Just by watching it, you are already a part of it, like their fifth girlfriend, with the same problems. It's funny and it's great all the way around!!!!
4-0 out of 5 stars I loved it one of the best series ever!!
I love sex and the city for it's great humor to realness that no other show has done before. I have to say I enjoyed season 3 better but I liked this season better then season 1 and 2. The season started off slow but picked up fast. This season deals with more maturing story lines. Carrie gets engaged, Smatha learns what love is, Charlette delas with a not so perfet marriage and Miranda gets pregnet. It's weird to see how the charactors have matured through out the first 4 seasons. I cant waut to watch season's 5 and 6.

4-0 out of 5 stars more sass, more sex and more drama from our favourite New York foursome
The fourth season of SEX AND THE CITY opens a new chapter of love, drama and, well...sex, for our favourite New York galsCarrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristen Davis) and Samantha (Kim Cattrall).

4-0 out of 5 stars LOVE THE DVDS, NOT THE CASE
Obviously, the actual dvds are great. Season 2 is very good. I definately love it... 5 stars. The reason why I rate it 4 stars is because of the plastic case that the dvd's come in. Mine are always ripping and cracking. It looks pretty tacky when I keep having to tape up the sides. Getting the $200 set would be worth it if you dont have any of the seasons already.

4-0 out of 5 stars Trendy, Hot, Juicy Tales
When has there ever been a show that can compare to Sex and the City? Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte returned for a second season, continuing to sleep their way into love (if possible). These four leading ladies have become cultural icons; television will never be the same (and, depending upon one's perspective, this will be either an agreeable or despicable trend).
5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating story
This is decidedly one of the best written and acted comedies I've seen in a very long time.Carrie and company are strong, self-sufficient women who even dislike serious relationships and the prospect of marriage.I absolutely love this show. Every episode is fascinating and thought-provoking. Carrie, Miranda, Sam, and Charlotte are all wonderful to watch. I learn so much about myself and humans in general by watching this show. Anyone who has not experienced "Sex and the City" must do so as soon as possible. This is the best show to come to television in a long time.Viewing this DVD made me a weekly watcher of the HBO series.Everything you always wanted to know about women, men and sex as seen through the eyes of four ladies with something for everyone.
