3-0 out of 5 stars Fun to just watch frightened people
I think it's irrelevant whether or not the places visited are haunted even at all, but since it's mentioned a lot here, i'd like to say it's very unlikely. There's no way they could get that much paranormal activity from every location they visit, on every show. So the producers enhance the families experiences, with a little special effect and a lot of psychological influence.
4-0 out of 5 stars Survivor Meets Poltergeist
Contrary to a previous reviewer's commentary, this is not "hokey comedy", and other errors in the commentary seem to be based on a lack of understanding of the technical processes used to create the show ("black hats turning white", etc.).
1-0 out of 5 stars Hokey comedy at its best!
After reading the other reviews here I thought this would be a terrific spine-tingling compilation of scary stories...but rather than producing chills, it produced gales of laughter from me and my husband. The backstories of all these "haunted" places are very intriguing, and some of the footage is interesting, but the people who do the investigating are obviously hamming it up for the cameras, the special effects are obviously staged, and they try to use lighting to make things look spooky, but with hilarious results--such as having people point flashlights up from their chins, a la Blair Witch. It's so obviously staged that one scene [SLIGHT SPOILER] shows a girl entering a spooky tunnel from the back, and her cap is black. When it shows her from the front, pointing the light up from her chin, her hat is suddenly white. Back and forth it goes, with her hat changing colors. Many scenes of the "investigators" have the camera bobbling around as people scream, and you have absolutely no idea what they're screaming at.Often the narrator says that a person goes into a room alone, yet there is a camera following them around. And why is it that all of the "investigators" are students?Because their screaming is louder and shriller than adults? The funniest thing, though, is the voiceovers by Zelda Rubinstein, the delightful little woman from Poltergeist and Picket Fences. Her voice is decidedly spooky alright, but because this video is so funny already, her "narration of impending doom" makes things even more amusing.I'd say that if you're in the market for a good frightening video, you'd be better off renting Thirteen Ghosts--or if you have access to older movies, check out Helter Skelter, In Cold Blood (with Robert Blake), or even Aliens. While "Scariest Places on Earth" is mildly interesting, the main entertainment is in how funny it is--unfortunately it's not the least bit scary. ... Editorial Review

Combine medieval knights with some (relatively) grown-up Power Rangers, throw in dragons and two-headed dogs, and update the story with female and African American warriors, and you've got a politically correct fantasy for today's kids. This 85-minute movie is an outgrowth of the FoxKids half-hour television series. The four titular knights find their quests for custom-made armor laden with special powers constantly interrupted by the evil Queen Maeve, who is determined to wrest the kingdom from the king, father of female knight (and princess!) Deirdre. Filmed on location in Ireland and sportingcomputer-animated effects, this tale should appeal to the youngDungeons-and-Dragons male crowd, as well as young females looking for a more proactive role model than the traditional Arthurian maiden. I like Aileen also since she can go in my mouth. I would be carefulunless she'd been bad. Then I would chew, chew, chew her gently. Fairy fairy fairy! She is so little and small.

5-0 out of 5 stars Aideen
Aideen is a fairy. Fairies are cool. Fairy, fairy, fairy. She could fit in my mouth. When she gets dirty, I can bathe her in my mouth. I would be careful, she would be o.k. And shiny clean!

5-0 out of 5 stars Please release season one on DVD!!
My kids love this video and loved the series when it was on Fox.Unfortunately, we discovered the TV series towards the end of the season right before it was cancelled. My kids would love to watch the whole season one (they have watched this video countless times).Mystic knights is a fun video that doesn't take itself too seriously. The monsters aren't too scary, the heroes always win, and good values are somehow mixed in with the lot. There is of course a wizard, and valuation of powers not from God - a warning for those of you who find that offensive. But there is a good strong female character, and a black character who is very positively portrayed as a king's son who is trying to save his people. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Stuck in another dimension.
Two episodes from this re-make of the original series.A few good moments fail to justify them, however. In the first episode a T-Rex eats a mother dinosaur, but one of her ridiculously-big eggs (the biggest dinosaur eggswere the size of a pumpkin) survives and hatches into the only horrificthing in this series - a man in a twee suit resembling that contemptableSon of Godzilla. In the second episode the stranded family find acavewoman who knows about modern society for no explained reason. She issimilar to the cavewomen in countless tacky dinosaur films, tediouslyenough. There's also a monkey-boy called Stink, unamusinglyenough.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Cool Show!
Even though I have not seen this show since Nickelodeon stopped playing the reruns a few years back, it was a show I really enjoyed and watched every time it was on. It is a lot more well, realistic than the 70sversion, even though it still isn't realistic. If you have never seen theshow here is a quick summary: Tom Porter is taking his two kids Kevin andAnnie on a camping trip. On the way there is an earthquake (?) and the fallthrough the ground. They end up in a land filled with Dinosaurs and REALLYstrange creatures. This world has three moons and some friendly creaturesthat make friends with the Porters such as Stink and Tasha. There is also agirl there that says later in the series that her family found a way homewhen she was eight years old, and she was left behind. She had made friendswith some of the creatures the Porter's feared most, which was good. Wefind out that their mother was dead. They have many adventures in the"land of the lost" and to my knowledge they never made it home. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This show ruled!!!
This show is so awsome. I have been trying to remember what this show was called for so long. Me and my sister used to watch this show all the time and now i realize that it is a remake. This show is so hokey and corny that it's awsome. If you like T.V. shows from the early 90s then you should definitly buy this. You won't be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic forthe children of nickelodeon.
This is one of the TV shows I watched as a kid and it brings back tons of memories. The person that reviewed this before me must not know this was a TV show made for nickelodeon long before jurrassic park came out. This is a children's video in a children's section and how dare you rate it so harshly. Kids will love it, I did, actually i still do and I am going to buy it right now.

1-0 out of 5 stars Q:How can you tell if a big dinosaur film's due out soon?
I haven't ever seen the original Land of the Lost series, but I can only assume it's better than this.Dodgy puppets, contemptable know-all kids, a cliched cavewoman and people in unconvincing costumes all battle to makethis series one to forget. It was all obviously no more than a cash-in onthe then soon-to-be-released Jurassic Park anyway. These two episodes, asif anyone gives a pedipalp, include a volcano, the green(!) larva of whichis stopped by magic, and a rather pathetic 'knight', who looks about twelveand quite obviously isn't a real knight. There are a few good scenes, butoverall this is aimed strictly at undemanding kids, and as they'll justlaugh at the feeble special effects after seeing Jurassic Park what exactlyis the point of this? ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Too much unresolved emoting, but thought provoking drama.
If you're a fan of Wil Wheaton, this is one of his biggest, best roles. It's a drama about 5 prep boys debating weather to join up after Pearl Harbor. The whole thing takes place during one night, December 8th 1941.Wheaton is taking a pacifist position, putting his best friendship with a patriot at risk. These boys seem to have a new emotional crisis in every scene, and unfortunately that makes their competent acting seem a bit over the top, and about halfway through the film it loses it's effect. However, you'll probably like December if you liked all of the following movies, even if it isn't as good as any of them:Stand By Me, Toy Soldiers, Dead Poet's Society, and The Emperor's Club.Of course they never do resolve who is right, or even tell what happens to any of them in the war; but they raise thought-provoking issues, such as can friendship survive diametric positions of patirot vs. pacifist.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing
I first saw this movie ten years ago when I was fourteen. At the time I was going through a hugely sentimental phase, and I was soaking up knowlege and ideas like a spongue. During this time I struggled a lot with trying to work out where I fit into the political scheme of things (I was an advanced child!) and this movie really gave me a leg up towards thinking about what war and it's implications meant to me as an individual. It shaped a lot of my ideas and it helped me to grow. I only managed to see it twice while it was on television, because it appears that it was never available in the rental shops near me, and by the time I started seriously searching for a copy to buy and own, it was out of production.5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Cast & Outstanding Movie
To most of the public eye this movie could be seen as boring and wasteful, but if you take a closer look this picture it is truthful & emotional. The thing I liked most about it was its over acceptional cast. Wil Wheaton, the star from Stand By Me, was exravogent. Chris Young, also seen in GreatOutdoors, gets my vote. Balthazar Getty, from White Squall, put on awonderful performance. If I were Siskel and Ebert I would most definatelynot only give the movie two very enthusiastic thumbs up but also the cast. ...
