5-0 out of 5 stars Really wonderful!
I love this movie and have been waiting for years for it to come out on DVD. I'm not like some other posers who are armchair critics (or wish they were) and wanna-be directors who cut down movies for one stupid reason or another. I analyze a movie on how it makes me feel, and how it makes me laugh. This one does deserve 5 stars and I think it's one of Travolta's better roles, at least from the 80's. I liked it as much as Two of a kind. My favorite part was the Russian pilot that just couldn't get American slang correct. Cracks me up every time I see it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Total Cream Dream!
i f'n WISH this movie would come out on DVD already!travolta with his 80's ass mullet and gross just screams queer.also see Soul Man for more gross lameness!but wow, this movie is a classic!the outfits are horrible...more pleated pants and acid wash and all that other "hip 1986 new york 'style'" than u can shake a stick at.someone talked about the dance scene..i mean that was more or less softcore porn.thats the kinda thing u might see on skinimax or red shoe diaries and they have the balls to just throw it right in this middle of this fun action adventure and lets not forget...comedy!i cant say enough how much this move rocks...its truly hilarious,,and PLEASE put it out on dvd already..ill even buy 2 copies!one to watch and one to wipe my ass with

5-0 out of 5 stars Still hilarious after all these years
So, uh, good day, eh?Unless you're a complete hoser, you can't help but love Strange Brew, one of the funniest dumb movies ever made.My introduction to Bob and Doug McKenzie came in the form of their hit song, Take Off, which I thought was hilarious.Having created the McKenzie brothers on Canada's SCTV, it was only natural that Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis would further expand their comic empire by making a movie.Strange Brew is that film, and it really is hilarious. Most low-budget films with a mere farce of a plot would tank, but the boys from the Great White North strike gold -largely because the film's only real purpose is to give the boys an hour and a half to be Bob and Doug McKenzie. The real beauty part of it all, though, is the fact that the story actually plays off of Shakespeare's Hamlet.
5-0 out of 5 stars Beer, donuts and Canadians Oh my!
I think this is an excellent movie. Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas are hysterical. If you want a good laugh watch Strange Brew.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cult Classic Comedy From the Great White North
Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis created one of the most hilarious and infamous skits of SCTV's considerable run with Bob & Doug McKenzie's "Great White North," essentially a mockery of Canadian infatuation with beer, donuts, and ridiculous slang.Viewers had no choice -- you either instantly hated the overblown Canadian accents and sophomoric jokes, or you fell in love with them.

5-0 out of 5 stars You're lucky if you own it!
I am one of the lucky ones who owns this movie! So I watch it over and over again and have the same great fun. By all means, watch it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not just for GWD fans!
OK -- I admit that I originally only bought this video because I wanted to see Geriant Wyn Davies in something other than Forever Knight.4-0 out of 5 stars good for GWD fans
Bury Me in Niagra AKA in the USA as Ghost Mom has two notable actors-- Jean Stapleton and Geraint Wyn Davies ( Nick Knight of "Forever Knight"). GWD's characer is a doctor who has an intrusive mother (Stapleton). When she dies she holds a "lucky pebble", ( adisguised mystical ruby) and her ghost insists that her body be buried inNiagra. Road trip via ice cream truck, pursued by Chinese gangsters whowant the ruby, the son finally meets his father. GWD hams it up in variousscenes and while the movie lacks some credibility at times, it is a comedyin the same vein as the Hope and Cosby road trip movies. Being a GWD fan Iliked to see him in a comedic role as Nick Knight was mainly too angsty. ... Read more

Editorial Review

An upper-crust canine is adopted by a family stuck in the 1950s in thisSaturday-morning fare. In the title episode, Christmas is three months away, but it's snowing so Dad digs up the chainsaw and piles the familyinto the sedan in search of the perfect tree. When bullies attack Dad and Billy,Poochini goes to fetch Mom and ends up in the sled chase to end all sled chases."Squeaky Fromage" finds Billy teasing (torturing?) the highbrow dog with alow-rent cheese-shaped squeak toy. A nervous Nellie of a postal carrier feelsthreatened by the mild-mannered Poochini, necessitating a visit by a New Age dogtherapist in "Puppy Obey." Primal scream, yoga, and hot coals jokes ensue. In"Nurture Dog," our hero adopts a baby left on the doorstep while the Whites areout. He tries to keep the infant under wraps, with predictably disastrousresults. (Ages 3 and older) Read more

Editorial Review

This oddly stylistic cartoon features Poochini, a talking dog who dallies in mischief while living with a 1950s suburban family. Four short flicks comprise this half-hour program providing snippets of the pooch's new life after leaving an upper-crust home to be adopted by an eccentric inventor. In one tale, a coffee-brewing invention goes awry, turning Poochini into a caffeine-crazed canine on a neighborhood frenzy; in another, a bad bump on Poochini's head causes him to try on new identities as he grapples with amnesia. The best of the bunch begins when a gopher ransacks Billy's perfectly manicured lawn. When he and his dad team up to catch the critter, Poochini joins forces with the rascal rodent and slapstick antics prevail. Accompanied by smooth jazz, the cartoon is drawn in similar style to the famed Read more
