5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet, Light , Funny
I really enjoy this movie. In fact, I've watched it more than once.It not only is a comedy, it also has some romance and sweetness in it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Sweet homophobic Alabama
Hesitation over the title of this review was purely for consideration of people who might have taken offense at the use of homosexuality in the traditional role as a comedic device for dehumanizing people. In this Fantasy Fashion Designer Barbie role play kit, we are presented with two suspect homosexuals, the flamboyantBlack assistant fashion designer, and the quarry closethomosexual who has to have his disorder pointed out to him, preferably in an embarrassing public denunciation.Barbiehas tolearntheneed for her toscriptandtypecast sexuality aroundher because she is the sensation (fem fatal) for persuasion predominant in the sphere of people around her.A Countrified Fantasy Fashion Designer Barbie Killer Instinct--role play kit. And it is perhaps an interesting microcosm of analysis to vaguely note the teddy bear appeal assigned to the openly gay Black character, artistic, talented and unflinching. It is the idea that for women, gay men make the best friends, that I won't quote yet I seem to have heard it somewhere in the cultural media stream at some time in the past. Thus a possible depolarizing of "sexual prowess" is covertly used to adjust traditional racial stereotypes, (and that term is taken straight from multicultural theory). Further complicating the plight of the Black male character in the film, is the Civil War reinactment-buffooning in the presumably lingering prejudicial South, where no doubt the image of African Americans as sexually iconoclastic, bandages woundedWhite male libido traditionally injured by jibes of phallic innuendo.Surely considerate people everywhere are tired of this dredging up of unpleasant or bawdy associations; circumcision is perhaps the original anthrospecific-insult (precursor to sexual dysfunction then marital dysfunction and the whole syndrom of social ills that erode social fabric from its core) but anthropologically the film is enriched elsewhere.
3-0 out of 5 stars A simple country girl.
Sweet Home Alabama tries to be a cute and funny romantic comedy but just ends up falling a few centimeters short of brilliant. Reese Witherspoon plays Melanie, a fashion designer who resides in New York but now she must go back to the state she was born and raised, Alabama and must find her husband to get a divorce as soon as possible since her new boyfriend has proposed marriage to her, but unknown to him he doesn't know about Melanie's marriage to a good ole country boy back in sweet home Alabama. Her husband is played by the very hunky Josh Lucas and the soon to be finacee is played by Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey. This film has some sweet and tender moments and I think the orginal ending to the film was better but the director, Andy Tennant was told to change it because the ending was considered too depressing, Tennant explains in further detail in the special features section. Witherspoon can make any mediocre film seem better than it actually is, a so-so film, decide for yourself on this one.

2-0 out of 5 stars Mary-Kate & Ashley remake Parent Trap [2.5 stars]
If you've seen Parent Trap (either verion), you've see It Takes Two.It is incredibly predictable.Even so, the girls are cute and the story line has plenty of fun and mischief built into it.Pre-teen girls will especially like this movie. There are some elements for adults - at least parents of children - to enjoy.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great family movie!
I remember this movie from when i was younger. I really loved the olsen twins so i am purchasing all their movies to re-live my chilhood! They are such funand great to watch as a family! And if u don't have kids they're great to watch by yourself...they're corny but great movies!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Has it been 20 years since The Wonder Years
The Wonder Years (1988 to 1993) was a look back to the late 60's/early 70's in America and all the social turbulence of a decade we all are still trying to get over (yes, even us offspring of the hippies, etc) ... and the commentary was piercing. The show was a great look back at just how much changed during those rocky years before 80's materialism and 90's realism, and then the 21st century's come uppance. It was about the loss of innocence for an entire collective generation and kind of explained why baby boomers still seem to want to stay young. Hello ... it's been 20 years since the then 40-somethings went into nostalgia for 20 years ago. But history is seductive the older it gets.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good show - led the way for Malcolm in the Middle and many others
Wonder Years was one of the most captivating and favorite shows I've followed in the 90's. Watching re-runs on TV can bring that sense of nostalgia because the show was that impactful. It doesn't necessarily have to appeal to hardcore fans. The show contains mild comedy and that 'coming-of-age' style story that makes it one of the best dramas in 90's TV.
5-0 out of 5 stars 5 Million Stars More Like!
I must take issue with My-Linh Pham who writes "As a devoted fan of the Wonder Years, I must say that I was disappointed in this video collection. Not only is the quality poor (fading in and out, scratchiness, etc.) but there are only two episodes per video (on this one and on vol. 1)" Perhaps Ms Pham is not quite as devoted a fan as she claims. Might I remind her that the quality of any video featuring Fred Savage can never be poor and, while I can appreciate her sentiments that more episodes = more Fred Savage, two episodes of the Wonder Years featuring Fred Savages remarkable and moving portrayal of Kevin are still excellent and worthy of rather more than two stars!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Wonderful Wonder Years
Simply put the Wonder Years is a magical experience and series 1 (on VHS) is an ideal place to start your collection. Fred Savage is simply breathtaking as Kevin. Two thumbs up!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Wonder Years, but not the ORIGINAL PILOT!
Awh, what a treat. Without a doubt, this simply was the only television show that ever captured the beauty of living in America. The pilot episode takes us back, not only to 1968, but to every adolescence childhood memory of growing up.
5-0 out of 5 stars You'll look back with Wonder too!
You can't help but interject yourself Kevin's life.He is so relatable. Also with the narration it makes us think of our own glory days of youth and the important people in our lives. The first kiss.First experience with someone dying. The intrigue of sex ed.Our best friend and knowing everything about that person.Nagging brother or sister.Fighting parents who loved each other and us.The popular music that defined the era we grew up in.I'm sure there are special songs that conjure up powerful images from your past just as the special songs from the Wonder Years does the same for each episode.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Chemistry is the reason................
why this is a great film. For starters Will Smith and Kevin James III have a great rapport, and their scenes sizzle. I can imagine that they improvised a lot of their scenes. Will Smith and Eva Mendes look like they are in love, and both produce great performances. Anytime I feel low I put this on, and it always produces a smile, and a lot of laughs. Great Film.

5-0 out of 5 stars very entertaining.buy it.
this is the kind of comedy everybody has to see or to own in his dvd collection.
1-0 out of 5 stars Unconvincing
Bought this movie because it rated 4 on average from other amazon customers and because I generally enjoy Will Smith's movies. While there are some funny moments I found the plot unconvincing and the characters (very) two dimensional. Obviously this is meant to be a romantic comedy and I wasn't expecting any depth but this was supremely shallow. Hitch the date doctor supports inept men in finding their dream partner, all the while he himself has not recovered from a traumatic college romance, so guess what, he has commitment issues. Enter attractive journalist, who funnily enough also has commitment issues behaves in a totally neurotic fashion is incapable of adult conversation and because she has issues exposes Hitch as the date doctor in newsprint, using the time honoured phrase, people deserve the truth, come on.........it's not politics. Despite her behaving like a jilted teenager Hitch discovers his deep love for her, and you can't help thinking that you yourself would be running a mile in his place.

Take away the Fairy Godmother, and what have you got left from the Cinderella fable? The story of a girl for whom a bad stroke of luck is no match for her internal strength and purity of heart. Drew Barrymore plays Cinderella's alleged inspiration, Danielle, in this romantic drama that purports to tell the "facts" behind the Grimm brothers' story. One of three daughters of a man (Jeroen Krabbé) who dies and leaves her fate in the hands of a conniving stepmother (Anjelica Huston), Danielle is cast into the lowly role of a servant. Meanwhile, her sisters are evaluated as possible mates for a French prince (Dougray Scott), but he's far more intrigued with Danielle's intelligence and beauty--not to mention her way with a sword and fist. 5-0 out of 5 stars Smart and Wonderful Fairytale
I really love this movie and especially love the relationships and realistic depth to all the characters.Danielle's relationship with her family is not unexpected because of the circumstances. Her Stepmother Romila could not deal with being left a widow, and the rivalry between her and her stepsisters was inevitable.
5-0 out of 5 stars a job well done
A friend recommended this movie to me and I thought I would be really bored, but the way it was filmed was brilliantly done with all the colour schemes and the beautiful scenary that it kept me in tune. I also love the fact danielle had a feminine side to her and prince henry had a witty personality. Drew Barrymore was at her acting peak with this film. Also angelica houston does a very convincing job playing the stepmother. I was crying so much when danielle lost her father, and I'm not usually one to cry over movies. Definitely check this out it's very entertaining and romantic. Beats the fairytale cinderella by a long shot!

1-0 out of 5 stars I don't know why many people gave it 5 stars
I didn't even watch the whole movie because it hurt to watch Jodie punched a blow of disrespect to someone of higher status (the royal family). If you have any respect for your elders, your grandparents, and especially royalty, please don't watch this film.

And here is another movie which I decided not to watch when it first came out. I just watched it on dvd and it was a beautiful film. The scenery, the custumes, and the palace of Siam was just breath-taking. And the characters were very memorable, and there are plenty of them in this movie. I normally don't like Jody Foster, but she was great in this movie. Chow Yun Fat was great as well. He is a great Chinese actor and this movie reveals his charisma and ability to carry a movie better than Crouching Tiger. I have completely misjudged the film before watching it. This movie, contrary to my expectation, is very different than "King and I" movie of the 60's.

5-0 out of 5 stars Interesting story....
IOkay, first off, I am not 13, I just don'thave time to go through everything in registering and all that jazz. I am too young to remember the actual case and facts, etc, etc. But, i just saw the Alyssa Milano vertion on Encore this morning (and cannot find the DVD)
5-0 out of 5 stars DAME GOOD MOVIE!! THE BEST BY FAR!!
i have all 3 amy fisher movies still have yet to see the alyssa monlina one its coming in the mail soon exicted about that.First and formost i have to say this amy fisher movie is the best by far that i have seen drew was the best amy no one can deny that and the acting is fanstatic for a made for tv movie its incredible. The way drew potrayed amy is the way everyone saw her as a bitchy but innoncent girl who had alot of anger inside. You feel sorry for amy after watching this one (as you do in watching the other one with the one for nbc which i also wrote a review on) the movie potrays everyones acccount which i like it focous more on the scandel itself then the amy fisher story if you want to see that one watch lethal lotltia with noell parker great one also as i said. But by far drew is the best plain and simple no one did as good and no one can deny that!

3-0 out of 5 stars Too Realistic?
How much you enjoy this movie will depend upon how much interest you have in Amy Fisher's story.Absent the fact that it is based upon real events, it is not all that exciting. It is well acted and filmed and makes some interesting comments upon the media, but that's all. From the perspective of realism and professionality, it is the best film made about Amy Fisher, but as a result is far less amusing than the other two films made from the perspective of Amy and Joey.It is more difficult to find humour in the characters when they are more real. This film, vs. the other two, shows equal sympathy (and condemnation) towards all those involved. Thus, as an exploitation film, it is not that great. The liner notes in the booklet about what Fisher and co. are doing now is far more entertaining and bizarre than anything in the film.Regarding the few new minutes added, I can see why they would be edited out of TV broadcasts, but they barely rate anything more than a PG-13.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars As Close To Perfection As Love Stories Get. Great Acting, Score And Costumes Make This Retelling Of A Timeless Story A Classic.
Andy Tennant's retelling of the classic Cinderella story by the Brothers Grimm (no pun intended on the movie of the same name) is a classic period film. Drew Barrymore ("E.T.") is still impressive and beautiful as Danielle, a young girl in 17th century France who inadvertently catches the attention of the crown prince (Dougray Scott) while slaving away for her evil stepmother (Academy Award winner Angelica Huston). An awesome score by George Fenton (who would reunite with Andy Tennant to score "Anna And The King," a non-musical version of the classic Rodgers&Hammerstein musical "The King And I," with Tennant again behind the director's chair). This is one of my all-time favorite period movies. I fell in love with Ms. Barrymore when I saw the promotional advertising for this movie; I was 8 years old at the time...and I fell in love all over again at 19.Rated PG for some thematic elements and mild language.

5-0 out of 5 stars as close to real history as possible
This is such an excellent movie made out of a story that could have been true, if I did not know that Henry II married Catherine de Medici in real life, I would think this had really happened. I particularly like the beginning, when the brothers Grimm visit the Queen of France, who then tells them the story of her greatgreat-grandmother, and isn't Jeanne Moreau phantastic in her role as queen?!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Wonder Years isthe best T.V. show ever created!
Wow!This tape would make an excellent gift for all Wonder Years fans! In the first episode, sweet 12-year-old Kevin Arnold is trying to find a present for his girlfriend Winnie and at the same time, the whole Arnold household is hoping Jack, the father will buy them a color t.v. for Christmas. In the end, Kevin learns that Christmas is more than presents and is about the memories and special moments in life.In the second episode, Kevin is older (sixteen-years-old) and istrying to find the perfect present for Winnie again. After the family, suffers a financial blow because Jack's partner decides to not invest in the furniture company, the holiday spirit is again being tested.I enjoyed the tapes so much and I watch them over and over.Definately a good tape.

5-0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed this movie
I enjoyed this movie. William Petersen is awesome in this movie. If you are a fan of his then you will enjoy this movie. As with most movies that is based on a novel, The story differs from it but it is still enjoyable to watch. If you are looking for a deep movie or one that you need to think about, then this movie is not for you. This is what I would call a non thinking romance type movie. You are suppose to sit and enjoy the story, as well as the play between characters.
3-0 out of 5 stars William Petersen
This movie is very choppy- may different things going on-hard to figure out the point--although William Petersen is as sexy and handsome as on CSI- only younger-- what expression's he has on his beautiful face- can't quite figure out WHY? he never made a BIG film-like Tom Cruise-he's every bit as good- & so georgeous to look at-what a face--YUM-YUM

i have all 3 amy fisher movies still have yet to see the alyssa monlina one its coming in the mail soon exicted about that.First and formost i have to say this amy fisher movie is the best by far that i have seen drew was the best amy no one can deny that and the acting is fanstatic for a made for tv movie its incredible.

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm buying it `cause I can't help but watching it
There are very few movies I enjoy watching over and over and over, but this one is soooo sweet, loving, tender and funny that makes my day. It's light and refreshing, true and honest, and most of all very tender. I love it and I'm buying to keep watching it. Beautiful!
4-0 out of 5 stars A Touching Love Story
I have always been a fan of Matthew Perry, enjoying his great comedic timing. But Fools Rush In has always been a favorite of mine because it displays his tender side as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars The English Matron Conquers the Palace.
I'm always fascinated with books & movies that deal with the interaction of subjects from different cultures such as "Shogun", "Lawrence of Arabia", "Dances with Wolves" or "Broken Arrow".
5-0 out of 5 stars suprisingly good, worth watching and owning
