4-0 out of 5 stars Two Good Episodes
The Deadly Toys Affair shouldn't be missed if for no other reason than to see AngelaLansbury's over the top performance as Elsie, and Illya turned hairdresser for Diane McBain's character. It's clear that Elsie is patterned on Auntie Mame, which Lansbury later played on Broadway, with Jay North as her nephew who Thrush wants to send to their 'special school'. Napoleon gets to play a joke and novelty toy salesman, and Illya is the hairdresser that most women would love to have. When he kisses Diane McBain to shut her up while they're being chased by the Thrush sentries, it makes the whole episode worthwhile. 5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Second Season Episodes!
"The Deadly Toys Affair" and "The Minus X Affair" is my favorite second season episodes besides "The Foxes and Hounds Affair", "The Discotheque Affair", and "The Dippy Blonde Affair".4-0 out of 5 stars The Men from U.N.C.L.E. deal with some "minor" problems
The Men from U.N.C.L.E. have to deal with the small fry in the two episodes on Volume 3. "The Deadly Toys Affair" (Episode #37, November 12, 1965), gets off to a fun start as a defecting Thrush scientist warns Mr. Waverly of a project by the bad guys to use poison gas. However, the scientist runs off to Switzerland to rescue his son (Jay North!) from a boarding school run for Thrush by Angela Lansbury.Solo and Kuryakin show up to try and save both the boy and his father from Thrush.Written by Robert Hill, "The Deadly Toys Affair" was directed by John Brahms."The Minus-X Affair" (Episode #58, April 8, 1966), has guest star Eve Arden as Thrush scientist Lillian Stemmler, who has the "Plus-X" serum which heightens the senses and increases theintelligence.Stemmler also has created "Minus-X," which makes people revert to the level of children.Wackiness ensues as you might imagine. An excellent story from writer Peter Allan Fields with a less than happy ending, this episode was directed by Barry Shear.A couple of above average episodes from the Sixties spy spoof series. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good, But a Little Disappointing/ PG
I enjoyed this movie but it was a little disappointing, and was not at all what I expected. It was a very suspenseful, interesting and gripping story. It is not your typical Christmas movie though, and although it gives you a warm feeling at the end, it is quite depressing in parts.I thought Kurt Russell did an excellent job in his role as Johnny (He is so adorable). He was the hero in the story, so his fans will really enjoy this one.I found Melissa Gilbert to be a bit flat in her performance and it was hard to get used to her being a bratty child (throwing a rock through a store window, etc).It is natural to expect Laura I suppose, as it was filmed in the 70's when Little House on the Prairie was in its heyday.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Outstanding Hallmark movie
Jessica Tandy, Hume Cronyn, and John Denver are great in this wonderful story of a elderly woman who loves where she is living. Even though a harsher environment than the city, she would rather die with what she is familiar than in strange new place. John Denver turns in a great performance as their son. If you enjoy Hallmark movies you will love this one. Most Hallmark movies are pretty good, but Tandy and Cronyn made this and "To Dance with the White Dog", and they are excellent. Many people bought the VHS, or enjoyed them on TV. Now you can get it on DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved it
These 3 actors together, all I can say is fantastic. Great heartwarming movie...

5-0 out of 5 stars "Fox Fire"

The first one is a little more wild than i like but the second on is the best I have seen. They are great guys I like it that the good guys always win at the end.

5-0 out of 5 stars George Sanders steals Vol 2 in great dichotomous style
Why 5 stars you may ask? This volume really shows us the dichotomy that existed between the First and Second Seasons of "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." television series. "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." was a great extension of the James Bond cinematic phenomena created in the 60s. "The Gazebo in the Maze Affair" and the follow-up "The Yukon Affair" couldn't be more different in tone. But that's what made this series so dynamic. George Sanders steals both episodes.

4-0 out of 5 stars An UNCLE classic
The first show on this video is the sparkling Gazebo in the Maze affair, featuring the talented George Sanders as Squire G. Emory Partridge. This one is a classic example of how good this show was to begin with. The dialogue is crisp, and not to be missed are Jeanette Nolan's wacky Edith Partridge and Leo G. Carroll in biking attire! Written by Dean Hargrove, who should've done more episodes, this one has the kind of dialogue in it that made the show so popular. Illya is kidnapped by the Squire, who has a grudge against UNCLE, and it's Napoleon to the rescue (well, sort of, since he promptly gets captured as well). The classic line from this one is when they are escaping through the maze, while being chased by a gamekeeper and a very large, nasty looking wolf. When the gamekeeper accidentally is attacked by the wolf, Illya murmurs, "bon appetit!" Definitely a keeper!Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars 80's Made for TV look and feel
The basic premis of the plot, and you can get this from the back of the box, is that a fed-up LA family man moves his family to Oregon upon the prompting of his neighbor. The movie has that fuzzy look to it, like old documentary film, which make it seem right out of the 70's. I found it funny at times, although a bit contrived. I would watch it again. ... Read more

I've heard MFU tried to attract Batman fans in later episodes, and nowhere is that more apparent than this 2-parter where each act culminates in a soc-it-out with THRUSH goons dressed in matching day-glow outfits. However, if you edit out the ZaPs and PoWs, this delivers some pretty good U.N.C.L.E. fare-- The all-star guest cast includes Kim Darby, Joan Crawford, Telly Savalas, and Terry Thomas.

4-0 out of 5 stars Green Opal and Dove Affair, Both 1st Season Episodes
"The Green Opal Affair" and "The Dove Affair" are both 1st season episodes. Not one of my favorite episodes.4-0 out of 5 stars Green Opal Affair / Dove Affair
The Green Opal Affair and Dove Affair are great though I put only 4 stars since Illya doesn't come out almost at all! I wish he came out more often in the Green Opal Affair. The Green Opal Affair is interesting and I like the beginning where Illya looks at Napoleon when Napoleon is wearing his disguise and thick glasses. I loved Ricardo Montalban in the Dove Affair! He's such a great actor!

4-0 out of 5 stars Green Opal is a Great Episode- one of my favorites? Yes!
I remember this episode as a kid and loved it as an adult. It has this oriental guy in it that looks like "Oddjob" from Goldfinger that gives Solo nasty looks through the first half hour. Finally there is theend fight scene with Solo using a wrapped up towel as a weapon. It'sB&W (black and white) for all those post 60's people out there. But thevideo quality of this series is very good and if you are a fan of U.N.C.L.Erepeats this is one that you'll watch more than once. Even my nine year olddaughter gets a kick out of them too! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't have the greatest of plots, but still fun to watch!
Volume 5 has episodes "The Off-Broadway Affair" and "The Take Me To Your Leader Affair", both which appeared on Man from UNCLE's third season. The Man from UNCLE series is one of my favorite TV series ever to watch! But I must confess, these episodes do not have great plot (thus the 3 stars) but still I love the episodes! Lots of funny parts! The main characters are Napoleon Solo (Robert Vaughn, "Bullit" and "The Magnificent Seven") and favorite the enigmatic and quiet Russian, Illya Kuryakin played to perfection by actor David McCallum (another great movie with him is "The Great Escape"). 1-0 out of 5 stars Horrific stuff!
Both episodes were horrible, pure examples why the show went down the drain. Forget the guest stars. They don't save theepisodes' silly quality. Save your cash.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Off-Broadway and Take Me To Your Leader Affairs
In "The Off-Broadway Affair", UNCLE's arch-enemy, THRUSH, has found a way to infiltrate their top secret computer files and wreak havoc with the information they have discovered. Can a musical performance by Illya and help from an aspiring actress (Shari Lewis) save the day or is UNCLE doomed?Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars The second season gets worse
Ricardo Montalban brought in for a second appearance in an episode dealing with a band of renegades carrying dark glasses and umbrellas and led by a fat man belongs more with Batman. The second is a pilot for a spinoff series which should never have been made! A girl agent joining a beauty contest to find a mind-destroying machine is definitely campy. No wonder this series eventually went into oblivion, its spinoff dying merely months before.

4-0 out of 5 stars The King of Diamonds Affair and The Moonglow Affair
The King of Diamonds Affair and The Moonglow Affair are both second season episodes. The King of Diamonds has Ricardo Montalban back again after he played in the Dove affair in the first season. He plays a diamond thief with the help of a mafiya type gang to steal diamonds and transporting them in plum pudding. I love the Illya and Napoleon banter and Illya gets to do a lot. The Moonglow affair doesn't have much of Illya and Napoleon since they are stopped by a THRUSH ray projecter. Rookie April Dancer (Mary Ann Mobley) with the help of a veteran Mark Slate (Norman Fell) are assigned to stop THRUSH and retrieve the ray projecter to save Illya and Napoleon. This episode is the Girl from UNCLE pilot and the only episode with Mary Ann Mobley and Norman Fell to play April Dancer and Mark Slate. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not the best but definitely entertaining!
"The Concrete Overcoat" is a two part episode made during "The Man from UNCLE"'s third season (1966-1967). The "Man from UNCLE" featured actors Robert Vauhn and David McCallum as spies for an international organization headed by Alexander Waverly played by veteran actor Leo G. Carrol. Robert Vaughn plays Napoleon Solo, the debonair and suave UNCLE spy. With plenty of charm and tongue-in-cheek wit, always expect him to 'get the girl' :). David McCallum is Russian agent Illya Kuryakin, the enigmatic and quiet partner of Napoleon Solo. Together, the two agents make quite a pair as they save the world from villains and evil bad guys from THRUSH.1-0 out of 5 stars An insult to the mob!
This double-parter does nothing but insult Italians-actually stereotype-- those proud of ties to their version of Robin Hood. Whoever produced it deserves a dump in the river.

5-0 out of 5 stars the Concrete Overcoat Affair
MFU at its best , with tongue firmly in cheek . 4-0 out of 5 stars The Hot Number and The Suburbia Affair
The Hot Number Affair is an episode about a dress( a hot number) with a pattern that is a secret code and the Thrush people want it.This episode is built around pop singing duo Sonny And Cher who play Jerry and Ramona.Ramona(Cher) wears the "hot number" and doesn't remember where she left it until it's brought in from the cleaners.Jerry(Sonny Bono) designed the hot number that Ramona wears and Jerry has a crush on Ramona. The popular Sonny and Cher song "I Got You Babe" plays in the background. The stock music uses kazoos throughout the episode which may be irritating to some but I found it to be humorous.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars An Illya Special
These two episodes are obviously designed for the fans of Illya. He's in both of them, and Solo is nearly non-existant. The Arabian Affair has fun with Illya convincing a tribe of Bedouins that he is the son of Lawrence of Arabia. Michael Ansara, as always, makes a good Arab sheik, and Phyllis Newman isn't bad as his headstrong daughter. She gets to hold her own in some exchanges with Illya. The plot, as always, is ever so slightly over the top, but everyone seems to be taking it with the non-serious attitude that made this show fun. 4-0 out of 5 stars "The Arabian Affair" and "The Foreign Legion Affair"
This is a must have for Illya-philes.Both episodes showcase him extensively and, I think, well. There are some great shots of "The Illya Look" where everyone around him want to run screaming. Not too much by way of stupid moves in this one, definitely a plus.3-0 out of 5 stars Not a good example of UNCLE's best, but still watchable
Volume 10 has "The Arabian Affair" and "The Foreign Legion Affair", both which appeared in Man from UNCLE's 2nd season. Although "Man from UNCLE" is my favorite TV show, as I said, these two episodes are not a good example of UNCLE's best, but still enjoyable in a way.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent early Tommy Lee Jones effort.
I liked this film. However, I can see why it might offend some devout Catholics. So - if you are a devout Catholic, you have been warned.3-0 out of 5 stars too many loose ends
I am a fanatical TLJ fan so I bought the DVD. I found the story to be broken and the acting to be forced. TLJ is holding himself back trying not to be a stronger character. There are many loose ends, is the murderer caught? Do the lovers get together? What does the accused murderers homosexuality have to do with the story, and does he get off? I think the stories subject matter is very strong but needed to be more focused on temptation and guilt of a wayward priest and less on solving a seemingly simple murder4-0 out of 5 stars Temptation
Although not Catholic, my faith is very strong and I was very hesitant to view a video dealing with such a sensitive subject. However, being a great TLJ fan, I took a chance and my only regret is that I rented the video and did not purchase it to add to my collection.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars So-So UNCLE episode
Its allright. And i dont know what that other reviewer is talking about. Solo obviously doesnt die at the end, and if you dont take my word for it then go check out the UNCLE reunion 15 years after affair episode. Anyways, simple episode with an allright plot and some pretty good action, again though there is no real closure of the series, It was the last episode but thats just because it was cancelled, so this isnt really a finale or anything.

1-0 out of 5 stars 7 wonders--terrible directing
The director of the fourth UNCLE season wanted the show to return to a serious vein after the much-too-silly third season. He went too far in the other direction, however, and ruined it completely. There is no banter between the stars whatsoever. The camera angles are absolutely ridiculous. The scenes are agonizingly drawn out to fill the two hours. UNCLE was pure gold in the beginning, and hugely popular. The network should have known that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

2-0 out of 5 stars The Last Episode:"The Seven Wonders Of The World Affair"
In one of history's great letdowns, "The Man From UNCLE" series ended with this two-part depressant. It seemed as though the entire crew and cast of UNCLE simply gave up before this episode was even filmed.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific first season episodes!
Volume 17 has episodes "The Quadripartite Affair" and "The Giuoco Piano Affair", both which appeared on Man from UNCLE's first season and are one of the first episodes. The Man from UNCLE series is one of my favorite TV series ever to watch! The main characters are Napoleon Solo (Robert Vaughn, "Bullit" and "The Magnificent Seven") and my favorite the enigmatic and quiet Russian, Illya Kuryakin played to perfection by actor David McCallum (another great movie with him is "The Great Escape"). 5-0 out of 5 stars Illya and Napoleon try to stop Harold and Gervaise
Volume 17 of the "Man from U.N.C.L.E." videotape series contains a pair of first-rate episodes from the first season, both directed by Richard Donner.Actually, it is a two-part story, but the two parts did not come in consecutive episode, which is certainly a nice touch."The Quadripartite Affair" (#3, October 6, 1964), is the first episode where Illya Kuryakin (David McCallum) takes the lead.Four conspirators are trying to seize power in an Eastern European country.Gervaise Ravel (Anne Francis) and Harold Buffington (John Van Dreelen) are the couple running the plan, while McCallum's then wife, Jill Ireland, plays Marion Raven, the innocent young woman caught up in the whole thing.Illya has to over come a fear-inducing gas and while he does derail the plot, the evil couple escapes. The fight continues in "The Giuoco Piano Affair" (#7, November 10, 1964), and is actually the better of the two episodes.Certainly it is the funnier of the pair, especially since Marion gets to have an adventure with Napoleon Solo (Robert Vaughn), while still being sweet on Illya, as his partner tries to finish off the villainous love birds.Meanwhile, Harold and Gervaise are having their own problems since he thinks she does not love him as much as he loves her, even though he finances all her evil plans. You have to love master criminals with marital problems. This is also my favorite title in the series; it refers to the gambit in chess where you force an opponent to move out their Queen.Of course, it describes the plot perfectly, but it is also just a very neat idea.In these episodes everything just clicks.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Quadripartite Affair and The Giuco Piano Affair
These two episodes were at first going to be made into a two parter but was changed to two different episodes. The two episodes has lots of Illya and his former wife, Jill Ireland. Their both great, and so is Napoleon. I love the party scenes at Marion Raven's (played by Jill Ireland) house in the Giuco Piano Affair! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "The J For Judas Affair" and "The Master's Touch Affair"
This pairing of fourth-season MFU episodes is certainly one worth checking out.The first episode, "The J For Judas Affair", stars Chad Everett and Broderick Crawford as father and son of a large multinational conglomerate, responsible for making most of the world's weapons.Son Adam Tenza (Everett) is, however, in cahoots with THRUSH, and schemes to take the company away from his father for THRUSH's purposes.A very strong episode, with excellent writing and entertaining plot twists, not to mention a spectacular scene with Solo and Illya breaking into the Tenza underground vault. The episode wraps in the jungles of Guatamala and ends this whodunit with a horrifying surprise.Read more
