5-0 out of 5 stars 2 vampires come to life
I saw this on USA,I loved this movie,I wish It was on DVD,I hate bugs, too but I don't gasp everytime I see them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pure Fun in a Vampire Flick
This was a made for television movie featuring Ben Cross, who starred as Barnabas Collins in the Dark Shadows revival series as well as having an impressive career in other roles.Nightlife is a comedy . . . much like the Mel Brooks film "Dracula, Dead and Loving It".The plot moves along like it's supposed to be serious but there is an endless array of ridiculous situations that makes it clear it's pure comedy. The premise is Vlad's love Angelique has been awakened by gravediggers who opened her coffin hoping to find treasure.Vlad wants her back but Angelique is interested in the doctor who is trying to figure out what her "rare blood disorder" is and clearly hates Vlad. The ensuing struggle between Vlad and his inept sidekicks against the doctor and his friends becomes a classic "science versus mythology" fight to the bitter end.If you like vampire comedies this one has all the ingredients you're looking for.

5-0 out of 5 stars NIGHTLIFE IS FULL OF LIFE
I found this movie thoroughly enjoyable! How marvelous to have a movie filled with likeable, quirky characters -- villians, victims and heroes alike! The story and script effectively intertwined drama and witty humor without resorting to the triteness of "camp". I was a big fan of Ben Cross in the short-lived remake of the Dark Shadows series and found him absolutely delightful in Nightlife. I was also a fan of the Equalizer series, always eagerly anticipating the episodes with the mysterious, weapons specialist/procurer, Mickey -- played by Keith Szarabajka, who handsomely plays Dr. David Zuckerman, the heroic, love-smitten doctor in Nightlife. Maryam d'Abo as the reawakened vampire, Angelique, is sexy as all get out without coming off as "vampish"; and Camille Saviola as Rosa Mercedes, Angelique's housekeeper and loyal protector, is side-stitchingly hysterical (and loveable)! The music is catchy, and as quirky as the movie. Nightlife provides 1 hour 33 minutes of intelligent, light-hearted fun, something that isn't always so easy to find these days. I highly recommend it!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Black Magic - Relax and Enjoy
I was lucky enough to surf into it during it's brief cable run. This movie is a wonderfully amusing way to spend an afternoon.Dark comedy - interesting curses and such an ending!Rachel Ward at her very best!Ifthe studio ever drops the price to an affordable level, do buy it!I likedit so much, I set the VCR to tape it on it's 2am showing, so I get to watchit from time to time.I'm never disappointed, it never gets old.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good quirky tale of suspense and mystery
I have to agree with the one other person who has seen this movie. As stated, it only ran for a few weeks on HBO back in 1991.It was actually a good movie. If you've ever heard the song "Istanbul" by"They Might Be Giants" then you'll appreciate this movie.JudgeRheinhold plays a gullible and typical male who is suckered in by hisbrothers ex-lover.She is a sultry Louisiana girl who just happens to bemixed up in a little witchery. The ending is never a surety until you getthere, but it's well worth the wait. If the studio ever lowers the price tosomething a little more affordable, I'm snatching one up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Movie
This is a great movie. It was shown only once on either HBO or Showtime about 3 years ago. My only question is-why is it SO expensive to purchase. If it would be on TV again, or a pay station, definitely watch it. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Aidan Quinn plays a man so aggrieved by his misfortunes that he vows to break each of God's Ten Commandments in revenge. But even that act of profound defiance doesn't quite work out the way he planned, and the character undergoes a mythic--some would say biblical--experience of a different kind. Quinn is fine, as is Anthony LaPaglia as his friend and Courteney Cox as a love interest. But the heavily stylized film by Daniel Taplitz makes puffery of the drama, and the atmosphere is more silly than smart. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars finally on dvd!
I have been waiting for this movie to be released on dvd for years! Sad but not depressing -- and the ending is pitch-perfect.

4-0 out of 5 stars this is an ancient story. . .
This is a retelling of the Job story from the Old Testament. And the genius of the film is that (even though the movie includes another biblical story to wind up Seth's story) it ends much like the book of Job;there is no answer to why all these things happen to humans, but still there is the overwhelming sense that you just have to know more about this God. I'm sure this film doesn't sit well with conservative Jews or Christians--too much sex. That's okay--not much sits well with conservative viewers. It is a nice counterpoint to the notion on our culture that if you love God, nothing bad will ever happen to you. Here, Seth perseveres in this relationship even though he is terribly angry with God.

3-0 out of 5 stars Unusual and interesting
Seth (Aidan Quinn) is in a bad way. His pregnant wife drowned a year ago, his house has been demolished in a tornado, and he's lost his job. "Why, God?" he asks. God responds with a carefully aimed lightning bolt which not only hits Seth, but also manages to maim his pet dog.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Note to Self:: If You need to Break up Get Jamie Foxx to Do It!
Well, first ya gotta look at what type of movie it is. By no means was it planned out to be an Oscar Winner, or a Blockbusting Special Effects Movie...It's just plain Funny. You have about 3 or 4 misdirections in the fact that Quincy (Foxx)is sent his friend Evan(Chestnut) To break-up with E.'s Girl Niki. Who has a feeling that is what is happeneing so she lies and says her name is Mary. So all Chaos insues. But in the end everyone gets the girl; it's a Funny comedy of Errors. As usual Jamie Foxx is funny as ever, and aside from the main plot there are little side things that make you laugh.
5-0 out of 5 stars HELP...!!! Need to find song from this moive. C'mon
I have been looking everywhere for this song. I can not find it on any Mystikal CD's. The song is played throughout the movie and also when Q hits his cuz and starts to walk out of the building to get the girl. If you know where to find this song, please let me know.

3-0 out of 5 stars interesting
this film in some ways was a Pre-cursor to Will Smith's "Hitch".Jamie Foxx is a writer who gives out advice.Morris Chestnut always got a role in the Soul Buppie flicks.Gabrelle Union is cool as always. this film works because it doesn't get to predictable though it does lose some points because not enough laughs or predictable runs in spots.still worth given a looking at. ...
