2-0 out of 5 stars Some Decent Elements
"Flashdance" meets "Meatballs III" or maybe it should just be called "Meatballs IV". This is my friend Wesley's all-time favorite movie, largely because he still has a thing about J.V. cheerleaders. As someone once said: "This is fine-more than fine-but as you get older you need to branch out. Whether you want to or not, society demands it".
4-0 out of 5 stars Cheer for Gimme an F
I use to watch this movie so many times when I was a kid...I loved this movie because it was not only a cheezy 80's movie but it was also a funny movie, but I do like the fact that the underdogs get there act together at the end..(if you know what I mean)3-0 out of 5 stars Another Cheesy 80's Camp Movie
If you like cheesy eighties camp movies this is for you. This is one of those movies that I would watch over and over on HBO because I thought it was risque. It turns out I was just young. But after watching the first 20minutes of this movie, you quickly figure out what the "F" isfor. It's not the best movie, but it's not the worst. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best $10 you'll ever spend on a DVD ...
Standing in the Shadows of Motown is a 2002 docu-tribute to the studio musicians that manufactured Berry Gordy's Motown Sound.
5-0 out of 5 stars I now refer to anything Motown as the Funk Brothers
It is one of the great American tragedies that The Funk Brothers is not a house hold name. These musicians are among the Gods of modern music and we all owe them a great debt of gratitude. Put simply without the Funk Brothers there would be no Motown. Name a Motown hit and they made the sound. What's Going On, Papa Was a Rollingstone and My Girl are among my favorite songs of all time and they had everything to do with the music not so much the vocals. This DVD is a must for any library and I encourage you to purchase the deluxe soundtrack which is worth every penny.
5-0 out of 5 stars i just didn't know
I had know idea that these guys were the real sound of Motown. This is an incredible movie one which any music lover needs to see. It doesn't matter what type of music you like this is a must see. The Funk Brothers story must get out. They were "the men". These men had real talent, soul, and passion. This is a recommend/ ... Read more

Editorial Review

For Doors completists only, this shapeless gathering of rare film clipsof the band performing in Europe is hampered by the same old, frustrating problems with attempting to convey, through lousy camera work, the band's poweras a live act. The packaging tells us the Doors swept through London, Stockholm, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam during a 1968 tour documented here, but there's no way to appreciate that save for a random clip or two of Jim Morrisonmilling about outside concert venues, talking with fans. Otherwise, we see thesame sort of obfuscating on-stage close-ups of Morrison you can see in anyfootage of a Doors gig, stumbling around, crooning, and reciting poetry tominimalist accompaniment by Ray Manzarek on keyboards, John Densmore on drums, and Robby Krieger on guitar. Unless one can see, in the mind's eye, what theband is up to from the point of view of a kid in the 30th row, there's no way toreally get the hypnotic, Dionysian effect for which the Doors were justifiablyfamous. Thus, for anyone who can imagine such a thing, or take it on faith, there's good reason to enjoy performances of "Spanish Caravan," "Five to One,"and two versions of "Light My Fire." There's even a relic of pre-MTV, poppromotion: a silly-looking performance of "Hello, I Love You" shot before abaffled crowd on a London street. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Doors - 'Live In Europe,1968' (Eagle Vision) Running time:58 minutes
Had this documentary been in color,I'd have given it a five-star rating.I've heard other fan's comments on this DVD and personally I didn't really think the camera work/angling was ALL that bad.Not for a 1968 production, anyway.Paul and Grace of Jefferson Airplane pops in several times to narrate the concert film.Enjoyed seeing Jim Morrison's onstage antics, energy and the way he interacts with the crowd.Best songs performed were "Light My Fire",the boot stomper "Back Door Man","Spanish Caravan","Unknown Soldier" and "Five To One".A should-have for most Doors fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes you think back to those times...
Though I have enjoyed the Doors music over the last 40 years, this is the first glimpse I have had into what this group was really like. It seems odd that some of the best music comes from those whose lives are in the worst of turmoil. It appears that Morrison was a very talented addict who was lucky enough to be surrounded by an extremely talented band. Considering the subject matter, the disc was well done and the sound was much better than I would have thought possible from old recordings. My high rating is for the quality of the disc and the accurate presentation of the material.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incrdible Doors DVD!!
Firts off I would like to say that I'm a HUGE Doors fan, and when I watched this, it just simply blew me away! ENOURMOUSLY ENTERTAINING! It also has two members from the band Jefferson Airplane come on and talk about the tour that they did with The Doors, very intersting. I loved it and you will too! ... Read more
